Speak English Clearly & Confidently!

Do you need a new way to practice your English speaking and pronunciation skills? My private students have had so much success practicing with the Imitation Technique - I just had to share it with you! Go to www.mmmenglish.com/signup to SIGN UP and get all FIVE free video lessons sent to your email inbox! 'To imitate' something is the same as 'to copy' something. So this technique is about copying what a native speaker says - exactly! It teaches you to listen to the sounds and patterns of English - and trains you to make those same sounds yourself. You are training your mouth with your EARS (by listening to the sounds) and not with your EYES (by reading and guessing the sounds). You are training your mouth with your ears. By practicing this technique, you will reduce your accent and pronunciation problems quickly and become a clearer and more confident English speaker. Asking Questions in English | Question Structure | Fix Your Grammar Mistakes!

10:14
DOWNLOAD THE FREE WORKSHEET TO PRACTICE 👇👇👇https://www.mmmenglish.com/questionsworksheet Asking Questions and giving answers are the basics of great English conversation - or conversation in any language! But are you asking questions correctly, in English? Many of my students can get their message across, even without the correct word order and intonation… But it makes for a bumpy, awkward conversation! In this lesson, I'm going to help you improve the STRUCTURE of your questions, so they flow smoothly, clearly and automatically! And you can start enjoying English conversations! The good news is that English questions are fairly consistent and follow a clear structure. There are four main parts that you need to keep in mind. 1. Question word (who/what/where/when/how/why) - question phrase (how long, how often) 2. Auxiliary (or helping) verb (be/do/have … also modal auxiliary verbs = can/should/may/will) 3. Subject (I/you/we/they/he/she/it) 4. Main verb (eg: play, eat, buy etc) Read the full transcript to this video on my blog: https://www.mmmenglish.com/2017/06/11/asking-questions-in-english-question-structure-fix-your-grammar-mistakes/ Get Grammarly Grammar Checker FREE! https://grammarly.go2cloud.org/SHp9 English Listening practice - Try Audible for FREE! http://www.audibletrial.com/mmmEnglish Improve your English pronunciation and speaking skills by practicing with the mmmEnglish Imitation Technique! Countable English Nouns | Fix Common Grammar Mistakes & Errors

06:19
DOWNLOAD THE FREE WORKSHEET TO PRACTICE 👇👇👇 https://www.mmmenglish.com/nounsworksheet So many of YOUR English mistakes are related to the way that you use nouns! In this free video lesson, we are going to improve your use of English nouns! There are two types of nouns - countable and uncountable. Knowing the difference between them and how you can use these types of nouns is really important. It affects how you use: - articles (a/an/the) - much/many - some/any - a little/a few - so/such Learning and understanding how countable and uncountable nouns are used differently in English will DRAMATICALLY improve your grammar! I've made a worksheet that you can download so you can practice what you learn in this lesson. This video, we’ll focus on countable nouns. You can check out my lesson on uncountable nouns right here: https://youtu.be/tjPoypKI11g What you need to know about countable nouns: Some nouns are ‘countable’ – very simply, you can count them! We can say there are three, five or ten of these nouns. Countable nouns have singular and plural forms. For example: one lemon (singular), three lemons (plural) You can use the articles 'a' and 'an', with the singular form of the noun: a glass, an apple, a banana… What about plural countable nouns? When you have a plural countable noun, you can use the number to say how many. Or you can use ‘some’ (when you don’t want to be specific about how many) You can say: some red chillies, some potatoes, two forks and three zucchinis! Most English nouns are countable nouns. Other examples include: day, week, hour, minute, dollar, task, story, job, coin, accident and appointment. Countable nouns: - can be singular or plural. - use a/an when using the singular form - Use some when plural, but you don’t want to be specific - Use the number to be specific! You can check out my lesson on countable nouns right here: https://youtu.be/XWkRGtCd3eY What you need to know about uncountable nouns: Uncountable nouns are difficult to count! All of these nouns are uncountable: - Liquids (water, milk, wine) - Powders (flour, coffee, sugar) - gases (air) - electricity, money, music... - abstract nouns (like happiness, motivation and luck) Uncountable nouns have only one form - they cannot be plural. You can’t use 'a' or 'an' with uncountable nouns because they are used with singular nouns (one) - and uncountable nouns can’t be counted! You can’t use numbers with uncountable nouns! The Present Perfect Tense | English Grammar Lesson

13:43
This lesson is an overview of the present perfect tense What it looks like, how to use it and when to use it! Structure: Subject + have/has + main verb (past participle form) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If you don’t feel confident using the present perfect tense in English yet… There are probably a few reasons why! You need to know the past participle form of English verbs... And that can be pretty tricky with irregular verbs! 😳 And you need to understand how to use this tense! Perhaps you feel unsure about when to use the present perfect and when to use the past simple tenses. I will explain all of this inside this lesson. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ When using the present perfect tense, you need an auxiliary verb that helps your main verb to function. In the perfect tenses, the verb (to) have is always the auxiliary verb. In the present perfect tense, the main verb is in the past participle form. This is not difficult for regular past tense verbs. For regular verbs, the past participle form of the verb is the same as the past tense verb, so you just add -ed! But irregular verbs are different and the only way to learn the past participle form is to learn them individually. Past simple or present perfect tense? To answer this question you need to think about time. Finished time and unfinished time. Think about ‘last week’. That’s a good example of finished time. Last week is finished, it’s over. Yesterday, last week, last month, last year, 1991 - these are all examples of finished time… Time that is complete. What about ‘this week’? Is this week finished? No! Not yet. That is an example of unfinished time. There’s still more of this week to come. It’s not finished yet. When you are talking about a time period that has finished, use the past simple. When you are talking about a time period that is unfinished… Like today, this week, this month, this year, use the present perfect. Watch this lesson to learn when to use the present perfect and when to use the past simple tense.
