Welcome to Harib Diagnostic lab we are providing Diagnostic Facilities Hematology Micro Bilogy Bio Chemistry Elisa Titel Name: CBC Blood Test #Complete Blood Count Test,By Harib Diagnostic Lab Link: https://youtu.be/x5I02ade9pE Test Overview A complete blood count (CBC) gives important information about the kinds and numbers of cells in the blood, especially red blood cells camera.gif, white blood cells camera.gif, and platelets. A CBC helps your doctor check any symptoms, such as weakness, fatigue, or bruising, you may have. A CBC also helps him or her diagnose conditions, such as anemia, infection, and many other disorders. A CBC test usually includes: White blood cell: White blood cell (WBC, leukocyte) count. White blood cells protect the body against infection. If an infection develops, white blood cells attack and destroy the bacteria, virus, or other organism causing it. White blood cells are bigger than red blood cells but fewer in number. When a person has a bacterial infection, the number of white cells rises very quickly. The number of white blood cells is sometimes used to find an infection or to see how the body is dealing with cancer treatment. White blood cell types (WBC differential). The major types of white blood cells are neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. Immature neutrophils, called band neutrophils, are also part of this test. Each type of cell plays a different role in protecting the body. The numbers of each one of these types of white blood cells give important information about the immune system. Hematocrit (HCT, packed cell volume, PCV). This test measures the amount of space (volume) red blood cells take up in the blood. The value is given as a percentage of red blood cells in a volume of blood. For example, a hematocrit of 38 means that 38% of the blood's volume is made of red blood cells. Hematocrit and hemoglobin values are the two major tests that show if anemia or polycythemia is present. Hemoglobin (Hgb). The hemoglobin molecule fills up the red blood cells. It carries oxygen and gives the blood cell its red color. The hemoglobin test measures the amount of hemoglobin in blood and is a good measure of the blood's ability to carry oxygen throughout the body. Red blood cell indices: Red blood cell indices. There are three red blood cell indices: mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC). They are measured by a machine, and their values come from other measurements in a CBC. The MCV shows the size of the red blood cells. The MCH value is the amount of hemoglobin in an average red blood cell. The MCHC measures the concentration of hemoglobin in an average red blood cell. These numbers help in the diagnosis of different types of anemia. Red cell distribution width (RDW) can also be measured which shows if the cells are all the same or different sizes or shapes. Platelet: Platelet (thrombocyte) count. Platelets (thrombocytes) are the smallest type of blood cell. They are important in blood clotting. When bleeding occurs, the platelets swell, clump together, and form a sticky plug that helps stop the bleeding. If there are too few platelets, uncontrolled bleeding may be a problem. If there are too many platelets, there is a chance of a blood clot forming in a blood vessel. Also, platelets may be involved in hardening of the arteries. Mean platelet volume (MPV). Mean platelet volume measures the average amount (volume) of platelets. Mean platelet volume is used along with platelet count to diagnose some diseases. If the platelet count is normal, the mean platelet volume can still be too high or too low. Your doctor may order a blood smear test to be done at the same time as a CBC but it is not part of the regular CBC test. In this test, a drop of blood is spread (smeared) on a slide and stained with a special dye. The slide is looked at under a microscope. The number, size, and shape of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are recorded. Blood cells with different shapes or sizes can help diagnose many blood diseases, such as leukemia, malaria, or sickle cell disease. This video "Glucose Tolerance Test: Expected normal results" is part of a multimedia-based module by Francis A. Yeboah (KNUST) and Cary Engleberg (University of Michigan). This programme is intended as a compendium of modules on procedures in clinical chemistry. At present, the only completed module is one concerning the conduct and interpretation of the glucose tolerance test (GTT). In a GTT, glucose is adminstered to the patient in order to determine how quickly it is cleared from the blood. The test is usually used to test for diabetes, insulin resistance, and sometimes reactive hypoglycemia. The glucose is most often given orally so the common test is technically an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). This video addresses the question: What are the expected results in a normal individual? The complete learning module is available through the African Health OER Network at: http://open.umich.edu/education/med/oernetwork/med/internal/clinical-chemistry/2009. A failed glucose test during pregnancy can be a sign of bigger issues with your pregnancy. Talking to your doctor or midwife about these issues, can ensure the continued good progress of your pregnancy. However, these tests are no reason to panic. Knowing what you are up against, can make your pregnancy go smoother and leave you with a more peaceful mind. Many women come down with gestation diabetes. This can be because of a genetic predisposition or because of eating habits. No matter the cause, medication or diet change may be necessary. Your doctor will usually work with you to create a control plan. However, testing positive on a glucose test does not mean you have gestational diabetes. When you test positive the doctor will want to do more testing to determine if you actually have gestational diabetes. This is because the test to screen for glucose levels is designed to catch as many possibly at-risk women as possible Upon testing positive the doctor will begin a new series of tests to determine your diabetic status. This will usually be done in the form of a glucose tolerance test. Only 33% of women who have a failed glucose test during pregnancy will test positive for gestational diabetes. The results of this test are usually very quick to come back. While you may be waiting a few days, you will not be waiting much longer than this. Once this test is completed you will know if you have gestational diabetes. Even if you test negative your doctor may want to change your routine to prevent you from developing diabetes. Failing a glucose test while you are pregnant can be scary, but it does not always point to a larger issue. With further testing and communication you can ensure the safety of your pregnancy. Continued treatment after this test will take the results into account as well.

Blood sugar test helps to evaluate the amount of sugar called “glucose” in the body. FBS, RBS, HbA1c, OGTT, and 2-hour postprandial blood sugar are important tests under this profile. Glucose, which is the body's main energy source, is used up by the cells with the help of insulin hormone. Blood Sugar Test rates in India: https://www.medifee.com/tests/blood-sugar-test-cost/

Do you know how to keep blood sugar levels normal during pregnancy? The ways of keeping blood sugar normal during pregnancy are the same used by diabetics in general. Control your weight or lose weight. Women with prenatal diabetes or at risk of it have to avoid gaining a lot of weight, but you shouldn't try to diet during pregnancy. What should I do to control the blood sugar? Don't eat foods laden with sugar. Eat unsweetened cereal and whole grain breads instead of white bread. That's almost as bad as the Atkins diet. You can eat all the lean meat and vegetables you want if it is totally cooked. Don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup added. There's plenty of fruit juices I could have instead of soda. Many fruit juices have sugar added. Diet soda is an option, though the salt makes water retention worse, while sugar-free juice just doesn't taste as good. I have seen diabetic eat a lot of small meals and snacks. That helps them keep their blood sugar even instead of highs and lows from eating every six hours. Should I eat anything at night? You probably should eat something before you go to bed. However, to lessen the impact on blood sugar, it should be high in protein. Won't protein affect my blood sugar? It digests very slowly in the body, which is why high protein foods are good for diabetics. Or those who are at risk for diabetes. Correct. But you don't want to develop diabetes. Because I don't want insulin injections. Or the excessive thirst and frequent urination, in excess of what you already have to deal with as a pregnant woman. Or the risk of a ten pound baby. Oh, that's literally torture.

In pregnancy there is about 20% increase in the red blood cell levels but more than 50% increase in the plasma levels. This condition is called the hemodilution. So basically the haemoglobin will fall in pregnancy. A level of around 10.5 gm% of haemoglobin usually is called a normal anemia of pregnancy and does not affect usually the pregnancy provided we support the pregnant woman with enough diet counselling, iron supplements to take care of the pregnancy again lesser to that anything is anemia and needs to be treated.
