Did Roaccutane kill this man's son? - Truthloader

12:50
In 2011 Derek Jones' son Jesse was found dead after going missing. Derek blames his son's death on an acne drug called Roaccutane (also known as Isotretinoin and Accutane) which he believes led to Jesse developing severe depression. We take a closer look at the drug and its potential links with depression, suicidal thoughts and other worrying behavioural changes. Find out more about the Acne Academy here: http://www.acneacademy.org Find out more about the Acne Priority Setting Partnership, and how you can get involved here: http://acnepsp.org/ Subscribe to the Acne PSP YouTube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCETG5... ROCHE'S FULL STATEMENT: The safety of all patients using any Roche medication is our priority, which is why we ensure that we constantly monitor all available safety databases on every drug treatment we have, including Roaccutane® (isotretinoin). We also understand that unfortunately, severe acne can cause some sufferers to become depressed and can also affect their mood and self-esteem. This is why the information provided with Roaccutane carries a warning that some patients may experience mood changes, including an increase in depression. Roaccutane treatment should only be prescribed and/or supervised by physicians with appropriate expertise. The prescribing information advises physicians to monitor all patients treated with Roaccutane carefully for signs of depression. The information leaflet, which is inside every pack of Roaccutane tablets, also tells patients that -- before they start taking the medicine - they must tell their doctor if they are depressed, or if they have felt this way in the past. The leaflet also advises patients that they must tell their doctor if they notice any change in mood or behaviour and gives examples of the types of changes they should look out for. It is also worthwhile noting that no causal link has been established between Roaccutane and either depression or suicide. We stand by the 30 years of clinical and real world data which has helped treat more than 17 million people worldwide against what can be a depressingly disfiguring condition. In this way, we hope to further reassure patients and physicians of the benefits of Roaccutane in managing severe acne. Accutane, suicide & depression

03:00
http://www.acne.org/accutane.html#suicide_depression I spend most of this video talking about the possible connection between Accutane, suicide & depression. The bottom line is we need more research. However, since this video was made more research has come in showing again that Accutane is most likely not linked with suicide and depression and may actually help in some cases. I also mentioned Google Chrome as a "new" option. Hilarious. Old video much?!

Acne medication Ro-accutane linked to medical student's suicide

05:58
A father's account of his medical student son's suicide he believes was caused by adverse reaction to acne drug Ro-accutane / isotretinoin. Generic versions of this drug include: Sotret, Claravis, Amnesteem. Roche have withdrawn Roaccutane/Accutane from sale and they deny this withdrawal is linked to costly litigation in the US, due to Inflammatory Bowel Disease believed to be caused by isotretinoin. This video and other personal accounts together with talks by Professor David Healy, Professor Heather Ashton, Dr Andrew Herxheimer at our conference can be viewed at http://vimeo.com/user1816628/videos In this video, Jon Medland, who bravely agreed to be interviewed at the APRIL charity conference in 2008, gives his moving account of the sequence of events, following his son's decision to take Roaccutane to deal with moderate acne on his back, is just one example of a suicide linked to adverse reaction (ADR) probably triggered by medication. In a recent review of Yellow Card reports of ADRs by patients overseen by Professor Anthony Avery of Nottingham University and 5 other universities, for which I was Chair of the Advisory Group: Reports of suicidal thoughts was the 11th most commonly reported adverse reaction, almost as common as reports of rashes reported as linked to several different medications. I recently attended the inquest of a young woman who has been prescribed Roaccuate plus Dianette (Diane-35) and Prozac (fluoxetine) and Zopiclone a sleeping pill. All drugs linked to side effects of suicidal thoughts, actions and completed suicide. The Coroner only focussed on one drug and chose to ignore the others, probably because he unaware to the risks of each one of the four drugs, let alone the lethal combination of taking them all together. There are shortly to be inquests for young women who took their own lives, one in Australia who's suicide was linked to Dianette also known as Diane-35 or cyproterone-acetate and ethinylestradiol. The other in the UK linked to psychiatric drugs given following a trip abroad when the young woman used anti-malaria drug Malarone. All antimalarials are linked to psychiatric ADRs. Read more about this problem on www.april.org.uk and join with APRIL in a campaign to include ' Medication induced suicide' in the Suicide Prevention Strategy for England which has excluded this cause of suicide since its inception. The email address to contact the Department of Health in Whitehall office dealing with the revised strategy is on the Home Page of www.april.org.uk More video films from our conference may be viewed at http://vimeo.com/user1816628/videos Please contact APRIL if you think you, a friend or family member have had a psychiatric ADR. info at april dot org dot uk

Accutane To Be Reviewed In UK After Suicides - Political Maniacs

03:17
Join #FOWLERNATION!! http://bit.ly/SubscribeFowlerNation Become a Patron! http://Patreon.com/FowlerShow A recent spate of suicides among users of the acne drug has prompted the UK to put together a governmental review of its risks and benefits to establish whether it should be taken off the market. Government scientists will collect data on RoAccutane (known in the US as Accutane) and then a group at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency will meet to weigh its risks and benefits. The drug has been linked to psychopathology for years and suicide, suicide ideation and suicide attempt are listed among the drug's "very rare" side effects. However, a number of people taking RoAccutane in the UK have recently committed suicide—at least three in 2012 alone—and their families have protested outside the headquarters of Roche, the drug's manufacturer. Accutane was taken off the market in the US in 2009. Roche said that it was due to a low market share and the high cost of defending personal injury lawsuits brought on by people who had taken the drug. Generic forms of the drug Isotretinoin are still available in the US. 3 Steps To Join #FowlerNation! 1. Subscribe To The Fowler Show: http://bit.ly/SubscribeFowlerNation 2. Accutane Side Effects + Mental Health Questions | Month 5 Update | Jess Bunty

07:01
Here's my month 5 update! I wanted to have a chat about Accutane side effects, and answer a question I keep getting about taking Accutane if you have mental health issues such as depression or anxiety. Should you take it? Let's chat about it. Hey guys! So we're at month 5, and that's pretty awesome! I will keep doing monthly updates on my progress and changes until I finish this medication. I'm not sure when I'll finish Accutane, it depends on the state of my skin and what my dermatologist thinks is best. I am on 20mg of Accutane (Isotretinoin), but I take a generic version of Oratane. I also take 25mg of Spironolactone every day, and have a vegan diet. If you want to see more videos about my Accutane journey, please check these out: - My Accutane Diary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owXUq5vNLG4&list=PLC6VpaaIKwp9Ophow6BYrnyzWQ-qq9PEe - My Accutane skin care routine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rtG0FBNKsA&t=319s There's really only one major change this month - my hair is falling out! I was hoping I wouldn't he this side effect. Hair loss is a side effect of Accutane, but it should grow back after treatment. I sure hope it does. I'm lucky that I have a lot of hair, and it's quite thick. But I definitely notice the difference. Have you had this side effect? Or something else at the 5 month mark? What are the side effects of Accutane?

01:15
Isotretinoin, popularly packaged as Accutane, is used to treat cystic acne. There are many alleged side effects of Accutane, such as liver damage, seizures, strokes, stunted growth, irritable bowel disease, depression and suicidal ideation. But the most documented side effect of Accutane thus far is birth defects. The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology reported a 30% chance of birth defects for women taking Accutane, compared to the 3-5% chance for those not taking the drug. The drug was officially discontinued in 2009, but generic versions are still on the market. For more information, visit our website at www.productsthathurt.com. Accutane Side Effects Exposed: Side Effects of the Miracle Drug and the Alternative to Accutane

01:51
http://hotprdcts.com/acnenomore Accutane Side Effects Exposed: Side Effects of the Miracle Drug and the Alternative to Accutane If you suffer from severe case of acne that has failed to respond to conventional treatments such as antibiotics, then your dermatologist may recommend the use of the popular Accutane or Isotretinoin. Accutane is a potent oral drug from Hoffman-LaRoche that has been proven highly effective for reducing acne symptoms dramatically after only one course of 15-20 weeks. http://hotprdcts.com/acnenomore With its undoubting success at battling even the toughest cases of acne and ever-growing popularity among teens as a miracle drug, why is Accutane still considered the most controversial pharmaceutical on the market? The answer: a documented list of severe and sometimes permanent side effects. Although some of the side effects associated with the use of Isotretinoin are mild and tolerable (dry lips, dry eyes, nosebleeds, extremely dry skin, increased sensitivity to the sun and thinning hair) there is in fact a long list of serious side effects that have been reported due to the use of Accuttane which persisted even after the drug therapy was stopped. Among those are: Severe aches and pains in the lower back and large joints, severe allergy reactions that include moderate rashes and difficulty to breath, vision problems, hearing loss, permanent liver damage, persistent migraines and headaches and skeletal hyperostosis which is an excessive bone growth that occurs along the sides of the spine. But perhaps, the two most bothersome of all Accutane side effects are its potential to cause severe birth defects if taken by pregnant women or women that became pregnant while taking the drug and the suggested link between the intake of Accutane and the changes in mood, severe depression and suicidal thoughts. Since, Isotretinoin can be harmful to the fetus, it should not be used during pregnancy and women should avoid pregnancy for at least a month after the use of Accutane. Additionally, because of its severe side effects, nursing mothers must avoid the drug completely. Although researchers still argue whether Isotretinoin causes depression or not, Roche the manufacturer of Accutane, openly shares information claiming that Accutane and its generic, isotretinoin, can alter mood: "Synthetic derivatives of vitamin A, can negatively impact brain chemicals such as dopamine and serotonin." The FDA website warns: "All patients treated with isotretinoin should be observed closely for symptoms of depression or suicidal thoughts, such as sad mood, irritability, acting on dangerous impulses, anger, loss of pleasure ... mood disturbance, psychosis, or aggression." Moreover, statistics show that between 1989 and 2003, there were 216 reported drug-linked suicides among U.S. teens younger than 18. Of these, 72 suicides were linked to Accutane (isotretinoin). The next highest number of suicides in that time period -- 55 -- involved Prozac (fluoxetine). Accutane works by reducing the size and output of the sebaceous glands and thus stops excess oil production. The problem is that Accutane damages your skins sebum glands and liver function in the process. By the time you stop taking the drug, your skin oil glands will return to function but your liver will not be able to properly balance your hormones and prevent the over production of sebum. Isotrteinoin also normalizes your keratinization (the shedding of dead skin cells), improves fat metabolism and reduces inflammation. But all of these benefits can be easily achieved using all natural dietary, supplementation and skin care alternatives and without the side effects. For example: Foods that are rich in Vitamin A and Beta Carotene can help reduce the secretion of oil by the sebaceous glands. Simple home made peels made of Papaya can easily replace the peeling action of Isotrerinoin and sleep optimization, and regular exercising including vitamin, C, E, Zinc and Colostrum can boost the immune abilities of the body and thus reduce inflammation. Accutane is not the solution to acne. Not only does it treat the symptoms of the disease and not the internal cause, stopping your skin's natural oil production, can in most cases, result in extra dryness combined with the acceleration of the skin's aging process (yes! your skin will look older). Moreover, Accutane severely damages your liver function among other side effects, which in turn destroys your delicate inner balance and your natural healing abilities. Hence, it is doing the opposite of curing. A long-term acne solution should address the internal cause of acne by tackling all acne contributing factors and neutralizing the acne environment - the only, safe, natural and effective way you could ever achieve lasting acne freedom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AaNclx4Cb0

Warning: Does Accutane Work? Accutane Side Effects Show Accutane Should Banned!

09:59
http://www.deathofacne.com The Death OF Acne is the First Unbiased Natural Acne Cure System that harnesses the best of Western and Eastern Medicine For A Mind-blowing Acne Curing Experience. http://www.deathofacne.com Article Taken From NaturalNews.com More evidence has come in on the dangerous side effects of Accutane, the powerful acne drug, that is also known as Roaccutane in Europe. A Canadian study confirms that Accutane increases depression risk. The study found that Accutane more than doubles the risk of depression. The study is the first controlled investigation to find a statistically substantiated link between isotretinoin (the active ingredient in Accutane) and depression, Dr. Anick Berard, from CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre in Montreal, and colleagues stated in a report in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. The researchers studied 30,496 people from Quebec who had at least one prescription of Accutane between 1984 and 2003. Among these people, 126 had a reported depression case. The researchers looked for Accutane use five months before the reported depression case (risk period) and compared it to a five-month control period. After adjusting for potential risk factors for depression, the study found that exposure to Accutane increases the risk of depression by 2.6 times. The research report finishes by recommending that "current guidelines should possibly be modified to include psychiatric assessments of patients prior to and during isotretinoin therapy." There are two known pathways Accutane can lead to depression: lower availability of serotonin and decreased brain activity in the areas that mediate depression. Earlier research has shown that Accutane reduces the availability of the neurotransmitter serotonin. Serotonin is also known as the "feel good" hormone. Low levels of serotonin have been linked consistently to many psychiatric symptoms, such as aggression, anxiety disorders, and suicidal ideation. Naturalnews reported about the study here: Suicide Link to Acne Drug Officially Established. Among other side effects, Accutane increases sensitivity to sunlight. And dermatologists advice patients to avoid sunlight while on Accutane treatment. Sunlight is known to increase serotonin levels, and avoiding sunlight may further increase the problem with serotonin levels. Another study, published at the American Journal of Psychiatry in 2005, found that Accutane was associated with decreased brain metabolism in the orbitofrontal cortex. Orbiofrontal cortex is the brain area known to counter symptoms of depression. Once you understand the history of Accutane, these side effects shouldn't come as a surprise. Chemotherapy drug for acne Accutane is a cancer drug. Bet you didn't know that. Isotretinoin, the active ingredient in Accutane, was originally developed as a chemotherapy drug. During the chemotherapy trials doctors noticed patients' acne clearing. What do we know of chemotherapy drugs? They are among the most dangerous poisons. Chemotherapy treatment often does serious damage to the body. And, if the patient is lucky, may have a little effect on cancer. In this context it's no wonder the list of Accutane's side effects looks truly frightening. Ranging from chapped lips to heart attacks, serious organ damage and suicides. Click here for a complete list of Accutane's side effects.

Accutane (Isotretinoin): Don't Be Afraid, Be Informed! Risks and Benefits - OnlineDermClinic.com

07:57
Send a virtual consult to a U.S. board certified dermatologist at http://www.onlinedermclinic.com In this tutorial, Eric Sterwart M.D., discusses the benefits, risks, and facts about this commonly used therapy for acne. Isotretinoin Uses * Isotretinoin is a drug derived from vitamin A used to treat severe or scarring Acne Isotretinoin is a very effective treatment for Acne (Acne vulgaris), but because of the expense and potential for side effects, it is usually considered mainly when other forms of treatment have not been successful. It can also be used for other skin conditions, including Hidradenitis suppurativa, severe pustular Rosacea, and some ichthyotic disorders. Dosing Isotretinoin comes as a capsule to take by mouth. Isotretinoin is usually taken twice a day with meals, and should be taken with a full glass of liquid. You will probably start on a lower dosage and your doctor may increase it after he determines how you react to it and what side effects occur. Side Effects The most critical issue with Isotretinoin is its severe teratogenicity. The presence of systemic retinoids during pregnancy is will cause severe birth defects in virtually 100% of cases. Complete pregnancy prevention using two forms of birth control is required for any female of childbearing potential along with registration with iPledge, which is an online registry designed to monitor and prevent pregancies occuring during Isotretinoin use. Minor side effects are common. Severe side effects occur rarely but can be serious. Common side effects may include dryness of skin and chelitis, skin fragility, Flushing, nose bleeds, dry eyes, Hair loss, eye irritation, conjunctivitis, reduced tolerance to contact lenses, hyperlipidemia, elevated liver enzymes, headaches, arthralgia, back pain. Rare but definite associations with Isotretinoin use include pancreatitis and pseudotumor cerebri. Isotretinoin has also been associated with other conditions via anecdotal reports or a few cases but consensus regarding its role in these conditions is absent. These issues include inflammatory bowel disease, premature epiphyseal closure, psychosis, anxiety, and depression, including suicidal behavior. Notes of Precaution * Because side effects are common and can be serious, this drug should only be used by providers experienced with its issues. * Most patients are advised to have blood tests monthly during Isotretinoin treatment. * Notify your doctor if you are allergic to Isotretinoin, any other medications, parabens, or any of the ingredients in Isotretinoin capsule. * Notify your doctor if you or anyone in your family has a history of suicidal thoughts or depression, mental illness, or inflammatory bowel disease. * Avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen as Isotretinoin may make your skin sensitive to sunlight. * Be aware that Isotretinoin can cause changes in your thoughts, behavior, or mental health. * Isotretinoin may cause eye dryness, making wearing contact lenses uncomfortable both during and after treatment. * Isotretinoin may also impair night vision. * Avoid hair removal by waxing, laser skin treatments, and dermabrasion during treatment and up to six months afterward. * Isotretinoin should be stored at room temperature and be kept out of the reach of children.

Accutane Time Lapse

01:08
This movie shows my progression over a 7 month period using the prescribed drug Accutane (50mg/day). Luckily, it did not cause any mental side-effects (thoughts of suicide etc.) but it did yield some physical side-effects including dry skin/lips, some aches, dry eyes, bloody nose etc. This is my personal experience and it might be different for others. Highly recommended to anyone suffering from acne if you've tried over the counter products already.. I tried *everything* the pharmacist recommended without luck before accutane. Be patient, stick with it, and before you know it, you'll have clear skin! Good luck :)

Accutane Side Effects Exposed

01:47
This video is called Accutane Side Effects Exposed: Side Effects of the Miracle Drug and the Alternative to Accutane. Be sure to check out: http://howtonaturallycureacne.blogspot.com ++++ CLICK SEE MORE ++++ If you suffer from severe case of acne that has failed to respond to conventional treatments such as antibiotics, then your dermatologist may recommend the use of the popular Accutane or Isotretinoin. Accutane is a potent oral drug from Hoffman-LaRoche that has been proven highly effective for reducing acne symptoms dramatically after only one course of 15-20 weeks. With its undoubting success at battling even the toughest cases of acne and ever-growing popularity among teens as a miracle drug, why is Accutane still considered the most controversial pharmaceutical on the market? Simple home made peels made of Papaya can easily replace the peeling action of Isotrerinoin and sleep optimization, and regular exercising including vitamin, C, E, Zinc and Colostrum can boost the immune abilities of the body and thus reduce inflammation. . . . . . best acne treatment, acne scar treatment, acne face wash, vitamins for acne, microdermabrasion acne scars, acne spot treatment, salicylic acid acne, natural acne remedies, best acne cleanser, best acne spot treatment, acne body wash, acne scar laser treatment, back acne scars, laser treatment for acne, best acne face wash, supplements for acne, acne treatment for men, fade acne scars, best over the counter acne treatment, hormonal acne treatment, antibiotics for acne, cystic acne treatment, manuka honey acne, best acne wash, laser acne scar removal, best acne cream, natural acne treatment, best acne scar treatment, adult acne treatment, laser treatment for acne scars, acne scar removal cream, laser acne treatment, remove acne scars, best products for acne, back acne treatment, treatment for acne, acne scar cream,

SO I DECIDED TO GO ON ACCUTANE... | Costs, Treatment, Thoughts | Jess Bunty Acne Update Vlog

10:01
Yep. It's happening. I decided to go on Accutane (AKA: Roaccutane/Oratane). In today's acne vlog I wanted to chat about the costs, my personal treatment, my thoughts, and what skincare and makeup I'm using for my soon-to-be dry skin! ARGH! **Open for more info** ►Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE ►https://goo.gl/w7cyiR for acne help, makeup reviews and vlogs MONDAY & THURSDAY! Hey guys, For the last few weeks I've been heavily debating going on this medication. If you've been following my journey so far, you'd know this wasn't a decision I took lightly. I have a bad history with this medication, it doesn't fit with my personal values, and I'm scared. But a lot of you showed me support, love and encouragement when I talked about it, so I feel more confident in progressing with my treatment. I know a few of you also said "Please don't!!" and honestly - I'd rather not take it. I have put this off a long time because I'd rather not take such a heavy, controversial medication. But the way I see it is this: My acne may subside and become less over time, but it may never fully go away. If this drug makes it go away for good, then I want to at least give it a go. I'm going to be taking notes of my progress, and talking openly about my emotions and side effects on my channel while taking it. If I have a bad episode, I'll know, and I will act. I will probably update my blog next week about my specific treatment plan and what skincare and makeup I'm using to combat my newly dried out skin. Let me know if there's any decent cruelty-free/vegan daytime moisturisers you like for super dry skin, and if you want to see any food videos on my channel. At some point I decided to start making videos instead of just watching them, and here we all are, many years later and only slightly wiser. I’ve also been #blessed with adult hormonal acne, so a lot of my videos deal with all the fun stuff that comes along with that, like acne scarring and acne treatments. But since this is my personal channel, you’ll also find vlogs and chit-chat videos, which will probably all sound much the same as this blurb. So, thanks for reading, and if you like what you see then I’ve got more words and pictures on my blog http://www.jessbunty.com My Skin Type: oily and acne-prone. I suffer from hormonal acne along my jawline, chin and neck. A note about links: Some links I use are affiliate links. I only encourage using links to products or services I personally back. Acne Treatment with Accutane Isotretinoin Part 2

05:01
Isotretinoin treatment Part 2: Relapse, side effects, monitoring, depression Risk factors for relapse are: Young teenagers Back and chest acne Sinus tract lesions Excess granulation tissue Androgen excess There are several risk factors for recurrence. Patients with a high probability of relapse or failure with isotretinoin have been identified. Young teenagers with nodulocystic acne will clear with isotretinoin therapy but the chance of recurrence within 2 years is high. They may require 2 to 4 courses of therapy to maintain a durable remission. Patients with acne of the chest and back relapse more frequently. Patients who form epithelial sinus tracts have a poor response to therapy. These linear cystic structures extend with time as they propagate through the dermis. Isotretinoin and intralesional steroids may clear the lesions but surgical excision is often required. Female patients with androgen excess states present with acne. They relapse within 6 months of stopping isotretinoin. Oral contraceptivesand spironolactone are appropriate treatments. Women with high abdominal fat content called android obesity have waist circumferences greater than 80 cm and waist-to-hip ratios greater than 0.8. They look like Humpty-Dumpty with large upper bodies, flat buttocks and thin legs. They have a high incidence of diabetes, increased triglycerides and uterine cancer. Side Effects Teratogenicity Increased cholesterol and triglyceride Dry lips and nose bleeds Dry skin and eczema Contact lens users Headaches Bone pain Granulation tissue formation The potential to cause major fetal abnormalities is the major side effect of isotretinoin therapy. Woman who are pregnant or breast feeding do not take the drug. Isotretinoin is prescribed only by physicians who have registered with the drug manufacturer. A detailed manufacture created system for pregnancy prevention is an important part of the treatment experience. Increased cholesterol and triglycerides are a common problem. People who develop hypertriglyceridemia during isotretinoin therapy are at increased risk for future hyperlipidemia. Triglycerides and cholesterol levels are measured each month. All patients experience dry lips. Nose bleeds are more common in patients with a past history of nasal bleeding. Lotions and petrolatum based lubricants applied to the lips inserted into the nose helps. Dry skin and eczema commonly occurs in the winter especially in atopics. Contact lens users may experience dry eyes and need to use artificial tears or wear glasses. Headaches are uncommon but can be severe. Pseudotumor cerebri has been reported. Musculoskeletal symptoms are common in athletes. Bone pain, muscle and tendon injuries can occur. Some lesions are unstable, break down. bleed and crust. Early treatment with high doses of isotretinoin can stimulate granulation tissue that leads to the development of pyogenic granuloma-like lesions. Initial treatment consists of cool wet compresses, topical and or oral steroids. Start with very low doses of isotretinoin 0.1 mg/kg/day and increase slowly to 0.5 mg/kg. Explosive, highly inflammatory cystic acne is treated with oral steroids. Isotretinoin is started only after inflammation has been controlled. Abnormal liver function test are rare. Skeletal hyperostosis of apparently no consequence are sometimes seen on radiographs. Monitoring A pre-treatment CBC, fasting triglyceride, LFTs and pregnancy tests are obtained and repeated 4 weeks later. Triglyceride tests are repeated until the response to isotretinoin is established. Monthly pregnancy testing should continue until 1 month after cessation. The Depression Controversy To date, no causal relationship between isotretinoin and psychiatric adverse events has been established. A review of the existing literature concluded that there was no evidence to support a causal connection of the drug to depression or suicide. Adverse Drug Reaction reports suggest that depression and suicide or suicide attempt rates are well below those of the general population. As their skin improves, isotretinoin patients” moods also tend to improve, rather than the opposite.
side effects may include: suicidal thoughts or actions.

I wanted to make this video for you, so you know that you are not alone in your feelings of sadness, anger or depression while suffering from acne. There are lots of organisations you can talk to if you are having a hard time dealing with it. Sometimes it might seem silly to call someone and say "I need help" but we all need help for all kinds of things! No-one is completely self-sufficient. We are too complicated to tackle everything on our own! It's okay to talk about how you're feeling and ask for help. Some good resources for you to check out are: • http://www.headspace.org.au • http://www.lifeline.org.au • http://www.youthbeyondblue.com • http://www.beyondblue.org.au • http://psychcentral.com/lib/telephone-hotlines-and-help-lines/000173 And an excellent webcomic I love and recommend is 'Hyperbole And A Half', as she openly discusses and describes her experience with depression. http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/adventures-in-depression.html ★ All my social links! ★ T W I T T E R : http://twitter.com/#!/jess_bunty I N S T A G R A M : http://instagram.com/jess_bunty F A C E B O O K : http://www.facebook.com/jessbunty W E B S I T E : http://www.jessbunty.com ★ A bit about me! ★ I’m an Australian currently living in Japan, and loving it! My channel has loads of DIY videos relating to acne and acne scarring, because that is something I have suffered with for many years (and continue to suffer with). I decided to turn my negatives into positives, and share what I’d learned about this skin condition with all of you. So if you’re new to my channel and wondering why there’s so many videos about skin care, that’s why! These days however, my focus has changed. I was accepted to the JET Programme in 2014, and my new life chapter began! I’m currently living in a semi-rural prefecture, as an ALT at 3 senior high schools. I drive a lot, go out a lot, and enjoy living my life in gorgeous Japan. I’m now kind of a J-Vlogger, showing you my everyday life in my weekly vlogs. But I also want to keep the essence of my original channel purpose, too, so that’s why there are additional weekly videos about skin care, beauty and life in Japan. Hope this clears some things up, and gives all you cutie newbies some info about me too! Thanks for tuning in, and please feel free to message me any time on my various social links. 1 WEEK DOWN! MY ACCUTANE/ACNE UPDATE + MENTAL HEALTH CHAT! Jess Bunty Acne Vlog 2

09:19
AND WE'RE OFF! 1 week down, many more to go on my Accutane (Isotretinoin) journey. Today I wanted to give you an update on what I'm taking, how my skin is, if I've had any Accutane side effects, and chat about mental health. GOOD TIMES, GREAT TIMES, WOO! ►Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE ►https://goo.gl/w7cyiR for acne help, makeup reviews and vlogs MONDAY & THURSDAY! Hey guys, So it's been a bit over a week since I started Accutane, and since a lot of you mentioned that you were also taking this medication, I figured that having chats about it is probably a good way forward while I'm taking it. So a few things that I outlined in this video, plus a bit more info: - I am in my second week of taking Accutane. I'm still only on 10mg, but will begin to introduce 20mg next week. - I am also taking 25mg of Spironolactone, a medication that is meant for high blood pressure (I think...) but has been known to improve acne due to regulating hormonal imbalances. I think I've been on it about a month, and remain neutral on its effectiveness since it can take a few months to work. But I'm definitely noticing the diuretic effect! - In addition, I'm still taking Prednisone. This was prescribed to me by my dermatologist, and is just to help calm my severe acne down. I started on a full tablet, and now I'm on half a tablet. I will stop taking Prednisone in a few days. - I have found a few scientific journals about Accutane and the effects of this medication on people in different situations, but I haven't found any specific stories relating to deaths. There are mentions of depression and suicide in some papers I've read, but nothing that formally links any of it together. I cannot find this apparent 10 year study that proves they are not linked, and that's the one I want to see! - TRUST YOURSELF. Write in a journal, understand your feelings and emotions when you're in a calm state and recognise when you're feeling off. I think that if you're young and taking Accutane, then it can be incredibly hard to manage your emotions. Don't dismiss your mental health - tell someone if you're not okay. At some point I decided to start making videos instead of just watching them, and here we all are, many years later and only slightly wiser. I’ve also been blessed with adult hormonal acne, so a lot of my videos deal with all the fun stuff that comes along with that, like acne scarring and acne treatments. Accutane | Before and After

03:13
I went on Accutane 6 years ago... and am finally sharing my experience! It was a very difficult drug to be on... my lips would bleed and my skin looked worse than it ever has during treatment. While difficult, I am glad I followed through because I haven't had any issues with acne since completing my second course of Accutane. I wanna hear about your crazy Accutane stories in the comments! I try and respond to all of them.
