So it's an actual no bs approach that will help you burn fat faster while involving minimal restrictions so you can maintain your weight loss for the long haul. In fact when comparing groups that underwent calorie restriction to groups that followed this dieting model that I'm about to share with you the participants from this group found it much easier to stick to this plan without feeling deprived and without feeling like they were even dieting at all. Diet plans that allow you to burn fat without feeling like a burden are my favorite approaches to fat loss because they are easy to incorporate into your busy schedule and they're easy to stick to, and consistently sticking to a plan is one of the most important determining factors for success. This plan calls for a form of fasting that you only have to stick to twice a week. It isn't daily like intermittent fasting. With intermittent fasting you typically won't eat only for a portion of the day, with the most common approach being the lean gains method where you don't eat for 16 hours of the day and only eat during an 8 hour feeding window. On the other hand this 2 day diet is often referred to as the 5:2 diet because you get to eat normally five days of the week and you only have to fast two days per week. This gives people diet breaks and makes it psychologically easier to stick to. The plan has also been studied quite a bit showing some really favorable results, especially when compared to caloric restriction models. The one caveat is that to ensure the effectiveness of this 2 day diet plan you have to make sure that you're not simply pigging out during your other 5 days of the week. Because as I always say your bodies present state, what it looks like today, is the result of what you've done for the days, weeks, months, and years that brought you to this point. Meaning everything's about totals and balance so if you want to ensure that this 2 day diet works for you, you can't be completely reckless with what you're eating during the other 5 days of the week. Before we get into the details of how to set this up and customize it based on your body let's take a look at a couple studies that demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of this plan when done correctly. One study conducted at MIT found that fasting for 24 hours flips a metabolic switch in mice, causing their guts to enhance their intestinal stem cells. Fasting for just one day caused intestinal cell regeneration to double. Meaning it undoubtedly increased the resting metabolism in these mice. Even though this study was not performed on humans, the biology behind stem cells in mice isn't very different from ours. But let's take a look at some human studies. One study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, divided 27 participants between a daily caloric restriction group and a 5:2 diet group. Those in the 5:2 group ate normally for 5 days and then weren't allowed any more than 600 calories during their two fasting days. Now for the calorie restriction group they were required to eat 600 calories less per day everyday. Over the course of the study it took the 5:2 dieters 59 days to lose five percent of their body weight, while the caloric restriction group took an average of 73 days. Let me start by showing you guys some videos. the first video is one that you might have seen before. This was me about 2-3 months ago right before I did a 5-day fast. This second video is taken a month after the first video directly after my 5 day fast. And this video was taken today after eating a diet primarily consisting of carbohydrates for the last month. Like I'm talking about probably over 80% of my diet has been carbs. Isn't that interesting. I find it very interesting because we're all led to believe things like if you fast or if you don't eat enough protein you're going to lose all your muscle mass. But that didn't happen I maintained the majority of my muscle. In fact for a cut Id say I did a very good job maintaining muscle mass. Even though of course I did lose some muscle Whenever I've cut in the past with low carb high protein diets I would still lose some muscle mass. And that applies to everyone unless you're on steroids you're going to have a really hard time maintaining all your muscle mass while cutting, the point is to maintain as much of it as you can which I think i did just fine. The energy from the glucose from the carbohydrates in combination with heavy weight training maintained and spared my muscle mass. The other myth we're led to believe is that carbs are bad for you or that you need to do a low-carb diet such as Atkins Keto paleo or one of the other low-carb diets in order to lose weight burn fat and get shredded. You'll never get shredded eating a high carb diet right? Totally wrong. I've pretty much only been eating carbs for the last month to actually test out on myself if good sources of carbs make you fatter. And even though I thought I was going to lose muscle and i thought i was gonna get fatter instead my body fat dropped way down and my muscles felt fuller... Let's go over to the kitchen so I can show you exactly what I was eating. Obviously I was still eating healthy carbs like brown rice. Ezekiel cereal was another healthy carb that I would eat regularly. As well as oatmeal. I had one major criteria for choosing my carb sources and that was if it was made from single ingredient sources. Ive talked about single-ingredient foods for a while now but I feel like some people are still confused. With oatmeal it's really easy to tell that this is a single ingredient food. But with something like Ezekiel cereal it's a little harder to tell because the ingredients are a lot longer. However if you look closely at the ingredient list you'll see that they're all natural sources of carbohydrates and they're all themselves single ingredients. another carb source that I would have a lot of were bananas sometimes up to three or four a day. Rice cakes were also part of my diet as a snack. also I was having a lot of puffed rice cereal. this cereal is made out of only one ingredient and that ingredient is puffed whole grain brown rice. And I would have that cereal with almond cashew milk not the 25 calorie one or the 60 calorie one but the full out 80 calorie high carb one. And ill admit the 25 calorie one would be better but regardless I would have sometimes two to three bowls of this cereal at night before bed and still continued cutting. Also I would have a whole bunch of different kinds of pasta including Ezekiel pasta which might look like it has multiple ingredients but really it's still a single ingredient food. I would have regular whole wheat pasta with only one ingredient. And I would also have high protein black bean mung bean and edamame pasta. And even though these are pretty high in protein you can clearly see the majority of my diet was coming from carbs. i would freely add pasta sauce as well but once again it's very important which sauce you choose. Almost all of them have added sugar, you want to get the one with single ingredients and you might have to do a little bit of searching at your supermarket to find it. I was also having faster digesting carbs like potatoes baked in olive oil. And then for my snack cravings I would have things like dark Russet chips.

But here I come, to bring you this video with the best, highly practical and simple tips that will make your muscles grow once and for all in a way that is in sync with your busy lifestyle. 3 Goals to Go After Your diet must meet these 3 objectives: 1) Provide your body with the nutrients it needs in order to recover and grow. This may seem obvious, but it is VERY IMPORTANT. If your body can´t find enough proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals to sustain itself, it can hardly be expected to build massive muscles. 2) Boost your natural anabolic hormone levels. Testosterone is THE main anabolic hormone, but growth hormones also help forge muscle. If your anabolic hormone level is low throughout the day, you will build very little muscle. This is why the food you eat must raise the levels of these hormones. 3) Decrease catabolic hormone levels Cortisol is the queen of catabolic hormones. These hormones are responsible for turning muscle into energy (decreasing them while at it) and accumulating body fat. Your diet must avoid reaching high levels of these hormones, because otherwise, all your efforts will be in vain. Now, 9 simple tips to put these 3 objectives into practice: 1- Add the following foods to your diet in order to gain muscle and burn fat: fish, whole eggs, egg whites, oats, potatoes (not fried), yogurt, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, broccoli, olive oil and green tea. 2- Breakfast abundantly, as it is one of the 2 most important meals of the day. Make sure to include a good amount of proteins, as well as fat (animal and vegetable) and complex carbohydrates. 3- Your second most important meal of the day is the one you have 15-30 minutes after working out. At this moment, your body is in a critical state known for its high catabolic hormone level; which means you must consume simple carbohydrates (I strongly recommend honey) along with proteins (such as whey protein, one of the only supplements that actually work, or boiled egg whites). 4- Make sure that you consume both vegetable and animal fats throughout the day. Doing this increases testosterone levels noticeably, helps build muscle, and reduces body fat. 5- Some foods with healthy vegetable fat you should eat are walnuts, peanuts, olive oil, and avocados. 6- Have foods with healthy animal fats: whole eggs, chicken breast, fish, and lean red meat. 7- Eat every 3 hours, having 6 meals a days is the best-case scenario. 8- If you are not able to cook very elaborate meals, such as if you must lunch at work, prepare a shake and carry it in a bottle. For all these reasons, this video will focus on the great benefits of swimming to burn body fat; I will also show you the best two exercises to burn stored fat at top speed, and a couple extra tips to improve results even more. Sounds interesting? Let's begin! It is commonly said that swimming is one of the best activities to burn fat because, unlike running or riding a bicycle, it puts most of the body's muscles to work. The heart increases its potency as a result; pumping oxygen faster to reach all corners of the body and increasing the rate at which calories are burnt. Simultaneously, heart disease is prevented. On a different note, many people cannot do high impact exercises like running, due to problems in the joints, back or hip, which lead them to sedentary lives. If you are one of these people, swimming turns into a very attractive option. Many people assure that they feel more relaxed and with lower stress levels after a good swimming workout. This is great, because stress increases cortisol levels -- a hormone that makes people store a lot fat very easily. Next, I'll teach you 2 exercises that will help you burn fat like never before. The first one consists of swimming evenly at mid intensity for 15-45 minutes. The key to this exercise is being able to swim uniformly and without stopping for a maximum of 45 minutes. When you do a constant mid intensity cardio (at 60% of your maximum heart rate), your body burns energy that was stored as fat during the whole workout session. Your metabolism will increase its speed as well. Remember, if you're new to swimming, start with 5 minutes or less of continuous swim. Don't get frustrated if you get tired quickly, your strength and stamina will build up over time, until you're able to complete 45-minute sessions without stopping. Now for the second exercise! This one is a bit tougher than last one, but it's even more potent despite the training time being less than half (duration is 10-20 minutes). This high intensity interval training (HIIT) exercise consists of warming up with a slow 5-10 minute swim, then swimming for 1 minute at 90% of your maximum speed, and after that slowing down for 1 minute; the cycle must be repeated 5-10 times. If you do 5 cycles, your training session will last 10 minutes; if you complete 10, duration will be 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can do 1 or 2 laps at high speed and then 1 or 2, slower. Your body won't burn much fat with this exercise, and I know this is not good news... but, once you start doing it, your metabolism will accelerate incredibly and hormones that consume fat will be released in your body. What's amazing about this is that the fat-burning effect lasts up to 2 whole days! Do you get why it's so powerful now? This exercise may be hard to do, but just like the first exercise, you must remember to start slowly, and increase difficulty little by little. Then, what's important is to outdo yourself gradually until you can complete 5 or 10 cycles. Now you may be wondering: How many times a week do I need to do these exercises? You can do mid intensity workouts 4 times a week, but you may add or take away days according to your taste and convenience. I recommend doing HIIT workouts once or twice a week. This type of exercise is so intense that it requires its very own training session. You may swim an additional 10-20 minutes at mid or low intensity after you finish. Aditional tips: • If you're a beginner, you may want to train under the supervision of a swimming teacher to avoid all risk of drowning, even more so if you plan on doing the second exercise. • Make sure you drink a minimum of 2 liters of water a day (the mouthfuls you swallow from the swimming pool don't count ).
