Antibiotics are medicines used to treat bacterial infections. There are different types of antibiotics that work against different strains of bacteria and some types of parasites. When used properly, they either kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause a particular health problem. This in turn helps your natural immune system fight the infection. But antibiotics often have side effects that cause other temporary health issues. Some common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, vaginal yeast infections, allergic reactions and inner ear problems. 1. Eat Probiotic Yogurt When taking antibiotics, it is highly recommended to include yogurt with ‘good bacteria’ in your diet. Eating yogurt that contains ‘live cultures’ (also labeled as probiotic yogurt) helps your body recover from diarrhea, one of the common side effects of antibiotics. These live cultures are gut-friendly bacteria that provide a layer of protection in the intestines and help generate lactic acid to get bacterial toxins out of the body. 2. Eat Fermented Foods or Take a Probiotic Supplement. Apart from yogurt, many fermented foods naturally contain a high amount of probiotics. So, in addition to yogurt, include kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, pickles, pickled beets, pickled turnips, pickled carrots and kimchi in your diet. 3. Eat Garlic. Garlic is a natural antibiotic that helps kill harmful microbes without the side effects of antibiotic medicines. Also, it contains an important compound known as allicin that protects your kidneys and liver from the potential damage of antibiotics. 4. Take Milk Thistle Supplements. Taking traditional antibiotics can be hard on your liver, which is responsible for breaking down the medications you ingest. To protect your liver from any damage due to a course of antibiotics, the herb milk thistle is very effective. The rich antioxidants in this herb help protect the liver. 5. Sip Ginger Tea Whether you suffer from diarrhea, nausea or vomiting due to prescribed antibiotics, ginger is effective in dealing with these side effects. Ginger’s natural antibiotic property helps prevent and treat many health problems caused by bacteria. Fresh ginger has an antibiotic effect against food-borne pathogens as well as respiratory and periodontal infections. 6. Eat Bland Foods. Some of the most widely reported side effects of antibitoics include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. To counter these issues, it is advisable that you eat only bland food during and after a cource of antibiotics. These types of food inlcude dry crackers, plain bread, white rice, etc. 7. Drink Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic. Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties that help fight harmful bacteria in your body. Also, it is a good remedy for controlling diarrhea, one of the common side effects of antibiotic medicine. 8. Drink Enough Fluids. To counter dry mouth caused by medicines and a mild loss of fluids from diarrhea or vomiting, drink more water. Drinking an ample amount of water throughout the day will keep your body hydrated. For a more-severe loss of water, drink fluids that contain water, sugar and salt to help replace electrolytes that the body needs. 9. Stay Healthy. One way to deal with side effects of antibiotics is to stay healthy so you don’t have to take them for long. Take steps to support your health in the following way. 10. Take Antibiotics as Directed. Last but not least, you must always take your antibiotic medicine as directed by your physician. For instance, some antibiotics should be taken only with water. Others need to be taken with food in order to increase their absorption in the body and ward off an upset stomach, a common side effect of antibiotics. It is my opinion only, that the damage these antibiotics are causing to people's bodies may be partially or fully due to the drug's destruction of crucially important healthy forms of bacteria in the gut. This, along with leaky gut which I believe is epidemic, may cause both a fungal version of yeast called candida to breach the barrier in the gut, and give the immune system a particularly difficult time managing it, as well as oxalate to also permeate the entire body causing a potential double-whammy that if addressed, may reverse the condition. Lots to be pissed off about with this situation. But one biggie is in how people are being told this condition is permanent. Although I believe it can be difficult to reverse, I believe it is entirely possible if approached from the above theoretical standpoint. That is how I approached it, and have had tremendous results. See my programs as well as the free info over at http://MaintenanceMotions.com. If you have some organic expeller-pressed coconut oil...or oil of your choice according to options available via Ayurvedic tradition...I'd give oil pulling a try, sticking with it for a solid few months. I have found it to be incredibly effective for joint/tendon issues, with dietary change, gut health with probiotics, and candida management to offer profound improvements. I need to consistently maintain the effort, but it's a part of my lifestyle regardless. Then I added some high quality ubiquinol to assist with mitochondrial damage, and energy production. http://FacelessFatloss.com My Over 40 program: http://Over40andRipped.com And Facebook: http://facebook.com/tim.ripped Love, Happiness, Health and Peace.........Tim .

Middle ear infection in adults and its medical treatment is discussed by Dr. Mark Vaughan with video of an ear drum of an infected ear compared to a normal ear drum. Most doctors now initially treat middle ear infections without antibiotics because most infections will resolve just as quickly with no antibiotics. Inappropriate use of antibiotics is associated with increasing rates of bacteria resistant to antibiotics and allergic reactions to antibiotics. The view of the affected ear drum one week later is also show, demonstrating much improvement. This video is not intended to diagnose or treat any condition. It is for educational purposes only. Scarlet Fever: Symptoms, Complications, and Treatment What is scarlet fever? Scarlet fever, also known as scarlatina, is an infection that can develop in people who have strep throat. It’s characterized by a bright red rash on the body, usually accompanied by a high fever and sore throat. The same bacteria that cause strep throat also cause scarlet fever. Scarlet fever mainly affects children between the ages of 5 and 15 years. It used to be a serious childhood illness, but it’s often less dangerous today. Antibiotic treatments used early on in the illness have helped speed recovery and reduce the severity of the symptoms. Strep throat rash A rash is the most common sign of scarlet fever in both adults and children. It usually begins as a red blotchy rash and becomes fine and rough like sandpaper. The scarlet-colored rash is what gives scarlet fever its name. The rash can begin up to two to three days before a person feels ill or up to seven days after. The rash typically begins on the neck, groin, and under the arms. It then spreads to the rest of the body. The folds of skin in the armpits, elbows, and knees can also become a deeper red than the surrounding skin. After the rash has subsided, about seven days, the skin on the tips of the fingers and toes and in the groin may peel. This can last for several weeks. Other symptoms of scarlet fever Other common symptoms of scarlet fever include: red creases in the armpits, elbows, and knees (Pastia’s lines) flushed face strawberry tongue, or a white tongue with red dots on the surface red, sore throat with white or yellow patches fever above 101°F (38.3°C) chills headaches swollen tonsils nausea and vomiting abdominal pain swollen glands along the neck pale skin around the lips Cause of scarlet fever Scarlet fever is caused by group A Streptococcus, or Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria, which are bacteria that can live in your mouth and nasal passages. Humans are the main source of these bacteria. These bacteria can produce a toxin, or poison, that causes the bright red rash on the body. Is scarlet fever contagious? The infection can spread two to five days before a person feels ill and may be spread through contact with droplets from an infected person’s saliva, nasal secretions, sneeze, or cough. This means that any person can contract scarlet fever if they come into direct contact with these infected droplets and then touch their own mouth, nose, or eyes. You may also get scarlet fever if you drink from the same glass or eat off of the same utensils as a person with the infection. In some cases, group A strep infections have been spread through contaminated food. Group A strep can cause a skin infection in some people. These skin infections, known as cellulitis, can spread the bacteria to others. However, touching the rash of scarlet fever will not spread the bacteria since the rash is a result of the toxin not the bacteria itself. Risk factors for scarlet fever Scarlet fever mainly affects children between the ages of 5 and 15 years. You catch scarlet fever from being in close contact with others who are infected. Complications associated with scarlet fever In most cases, the rash and other symptoms of scarlet fever will be gone in about 10 days to 2 weeks with antibiotic treatment. However, scarlet fever can cause serious complications. These can include: rheumatic fever kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) ear infections throat abscesses pneumonia arthritis Ear infections, throat abscesses, and pneumonia can best be avoided if scarlet fever is treated promptly with the proper antibiotics. Other complications are known to be the result of the body’s immune response to the infection rather than the bacteria themselves. Healthline Partner Solutions Get Answers from a Doctor in Minutes, Anytime Have medical questions? Connect with a board-certified, experienced doctor online or by phone. Pediatricians and other specialists available 24/7. Diagnosing scarlet fever Your child’s doctor will first perform a physical exam to check for signs of scarlet fever. During the exam, the doctor will particularly check the condition of your child’s tongue, throat, and tonsils. They’ll also look for enlarged lymph nodes and examine the appearance and texture of the rash. If the doctor suspects your child has scarlet fever, they’ll likely swab the back of your child’s throat to collect a sample of their cells for analysis. This is called a throat swab and is used to create a throat culture. The sample will then be sent to a laboratory to determine whether group A Streptococcus is present. There’s also a rapid throat swab test that can be performed in the office.

Burning micturition and pain which is not still responding to antibiotics means we might be treating this patient with antibiotics which is not suitable for that infection. In these cases always try to do the urine routine and culture sensitivity, find out which antibiotic it is suitable with and then treat it with that. For symptomatic relief start these patients on mild anti inflammatory drugs or mild doses of steroids with an alpha blocker which releases the sphincter spasm, causes complete emptying, and the burning goes down when treating with the right antibiotics. Anti inflammatory drugs also relieves the pain in these patients. We have to further evaluate these patients with an ultrasound and an uroflowmetry.
Visit oure website - http://chiropractorfortworth.org - Chest Infection Symptoms. Chest infection is quite common among both adults as well as small children. It is of two different types. One is related to upper respiratory tract infection where the nose, sinus cavities, larynx and pharynx are involved. In the other one, the lower respiratory tract is attacked and the lungs get affected. This is a more serious condition and is found in people suffering from pneumonia. Causes. Chest infection is caused either by the different viruses that are responsible for cold and flu or some bacteria. Its symptoms are usually observed within 2-3 days after you catch the infection and may continue to bother you for the next few weeks. Symptoms in Adults. The symptoms of upper and lower respiratory tract infection have lots of similarity but their intensity becomes much severe when the lungs get infected. Here are the commonly observed symptoms of chest infection: Chest Congestion: A dull, heavy feeling inside the chest is one of the obvious signs of infection in the chest. This is because of phlegm in chest. When there is a heavy congestion, it gives pain and discomfort. Persistent cough often aggravates this pain further. Cough: An inflammation in the air passage that lies in between the nose and the lungs causes a lot of irritation inside the throat which gives rise to a chesty cough. Initially, it is a dry cough but as mucous gets accumulated, thick mucus is expelled which is yellow or green in color. Repeated cough contracts the thoracic cavity so badly that traces of blood may come out with the phlegm. The cough bothers the patient for at least 7-10 days, if not weeks. Breathing Difficulty: As the nose and rest of the respiratory tract gets blocked with thick mucus, breathing problem arises. As a result, one starts taking shallow and rapid breaths. It also produces wheezing sound during inhalation. Fever: The body temperature often rises because of the infection. If it is an upper respiratory infection, then usually one gets a mild fever. However, the fever due to pneumonia, could go beyond 101 degrees F. Pain: Chest infection makes your body weak and it is susceptible to pain. One may experience headache quite frequently. The joints, bones, muscles and nerves of the body becomes tender and pain is experienced in various parts of the body. In this condition, back and neck pain mostly arise due to achy muscles. Symptoms in Babies. The symptoms in children and babies are more or less the same as adults. You must observe them carefully as the symptoms may have severe impact on their health. They often have swallowing difficulty in this condition. So, they should be fed with great care to avoid choking. There are some symptoms in babies that require emergency medical intervention, for example, shortness of breath, which is accompanied by a bluish tinge in lips, tongue, and face and abnormal drowsiness. Treatment. When the symptoms are mild, they may not require any medical treatment, they may subside on their own. Moderate to serious infections are diagnosed with the help of laboratory test like X-rays and mucus sample test. Bacterial chest infection is treated with the help of antibiotic medicines. However, if it is caused by virus, then antibiotics are ineffective on them. In that case, the symptoms are controlled with the help of suitable medicines. For pain and fever, pain relieving medicines are prescribed by the doctors. Expectorants and cough suppressants can be used to check a bad cough. When you are suffering from chest infection, you must take adequate amount of rest which will help the body to recover from it. You should also keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Inhalation of steam facilitates thinning up of the mucus and ensures its faster elimination. The symptoms tend to get worse with exposure to irritants such as dust, smoke, chemicals, etc. Therefore, you should stay away from them. You should cover up your face while sneezing and coughing to avoid spread of infection. Read more at buzzle.com/articles/chest-infection-symptoms.html

Ear infections are caused by bacteria or viruses in the middle ear. Ear infections occur more often in children than adults. Some causes and contributing factors that lead to ear infections are wax buildup, upper respiratory infections, food allergies, environmental allergies, genetics, nutritional deficiencies and internal injuries. Some common signs that someone is suffering from an ear infection are pain in the ear, tugging at the ear, difficulty sleeping, headache, poor response to sounds, high fever and fluid draining from the ear. The ear is made up of three parts: outer, middle and inner. An ear infection can occur in any of the three parts. Inner ear infections are the most serious. It is important to treat an ear infection to prevent complications, including damaging or rupturing the ear drum. There are many time-honored, simple and easy home remedies that can help to get rid of the pain and other symptoms of an ear infection. 1. Salt Salt is probably the most readily available home remedy. Heat up one cup of salt on a pan over low heat for a few minutes. You can also heat it in a microwave or double-boiler. Place the hot salt on a cloth and seal the open end with rubber band (or tie a knot). When it is bearably hot, lay down and put the cloth on the affected ear for 5 to 10 minutes. Repeat this remedy daily as many times as needed. The heat generated from the sock will help draw out fluid from the ear and relieve swelling and pain. As an alternative, you can use one cup of rice in the same manner described above. 2. Garlic Garlic has antimicrobial properties and natural pain relieving qualities, making it highly effective in the treatment of ear infections. There are a few ways to use garlic as a home treatment. Make garlic oil by cooking two garlic cloves in two tablespoons of sesame oil or mustard oil until it turns blackish. Strain the solution. When it is bearably hot, use two to four drops of this oil in the infected ear as ear drops. Alternatively, you can also boil two or three fresh garlic cloves in water for five minutes, then crush them and add some salt. Put the mixture in a clean cloth and place it against the affected ear. Consuming two to three cloves of raw garlic daily also helps speed up the healing process. 3. Apple Cider Vinegar To get rid of the fungus that may be causing the ear infection, apple cider vinegar is a good option. Mix one part apple cider vinegar with an equal amount of water or alcohol. Soak a cotton ball in the solution. Put the cotton ball in your ear like a plug and leave it for about five minutes. Remove the cotton ball and lay down on your opposite side to drain the liquid from the ear. Use a hair dryer to dry your ear as much as possible. 4. Olive Oil One of the main causes of an ear infection is wax in the ear catching some fungal or bacterial growth leading to a blockage in the Eustachian tubes. You can easily clear the obstruction with the help of olive oil. Warm some olive oil slightly. Put a few drops of the warm oil into the infected ear. The oil will cause the wax to soften. Remove the infected wax with cotton-tipped swabs. Be careful not to put the swab too far in the ear or you might damage the eardrum. Your doctor may also collect samples of your blood, breath, and stool to check for a type of bacteria that causes peptic ulcers. During an endoscopy, your doctor passes a small tube with a camera and biopsy tool through your esophagus into your stomach. What are the signs you are pregnant while on birth control? You hit that row of do nothing pills in the birth control pack and your period does not come. It could come late for other reasons like hormones out of whack. And it was concern that my hormones would be messed up that I did not use them. Then I cannot say that you got pregnant on the pill because you used antibiotics. Antibiotics can make you poop a lot, passing the pills through faster. If you were taking thyroid medication, it would metabolize them faster. However, if you get a stomach bug and throw them up, you could get pregnant. If I’m throwing up a lot, that’s a sign I am pregnant on birth control. If you are nauseous or throwing up in the morning but not in the afternoon or evening, then it is likely due to pregnancy. If it is all day, then you may need antibiotics or another medication. I have not been taking antibiotics. If you were on the pill, you’d be able to guess you were pregnant if you had a light period the next cycle and none the one after that. With a birth control implant, though, a woman would not have a period at all. Well, most of the time. You could develop breast tenderness in early pregnancy. I get that with my normal cycle. Peeing a lot is a sign of pregnancy. Or a urinary tract infection. If you used an injected contraceptive, your odds of pregnancy are really low barring medication that interferes with it. I do not use the injectables. What are the other signs I could be pregnant while on birth control? If you used an intrauterine, it causes heavier than normal periods. If you’re pregnant, the period stops. That’s usually normal regardless of the contraception method. You could be certain you did a pregnancy test and it came back positive. Don’t birth control methods interfere with that? If you used a condom, cervical cap or even an intrauterine, you’d have the normal hormonal cycles for ovulation and pregnancy. It is only the hormone based pills and shots that throw off your hormones. And it may be that my contraceptive method failed. If you were taking birth control pills, the estrogen or progesterone won’t throw off the pregnancy test. In fact, no medicine you take for anything would mess it up. So a pregnancy test is the best way to see if I’m pregnant. And it would be a sure sign to talk to your doctor about the best way to stop your birth control, since you clearly won’t need it for a while.

The term “whiplash” usually brings to mind neck pain, headaches, and/or a stiff neck. However, there are other symptoms associated with whiplash that we don’t usually think of, such as ringing in the ears or tinnitus. In the absence of whiplash, there are many people who experience an occasional ringing or sound of some sort in their ears. The ringing may seem to keep time with their heartbeat or in cadence with their breathing and is more common over the age of 40 and among men. The sound can be a buzzing, ringing, roaring, hissing, or high pitched noise that usually lasts only seconds or minutes at the most. So, think of those times when you’ve noticed tinnitus and ask yourself, “…how would that affect me if that noise never stopped or lasted for hours?” Before we discuss the association of tinnitus with whiplash, let’s review some facts about tinnitus. There are two primary types of tinnitus: pulsatile and non-pulsatile. Pulsatile tinnitus is often caused by sounds created either by blood flow problems in the face or neck, muscle movements near the ear, or changes in the ear canal. The non-pulsatile tinnitus is usually caused by nerve problems involving hearing in one or both ears. The latter is sometimes described as a sound coming from inside the head. The most common cause of tinnitus is from age-related hearing loss – technically called presbycusis. However, it can also result from living or working in a loud environment. Tinnitus can occur with many types of hearing loss and can be a symptom of almost any ear disorder. Other common causes include earwax buildup, certain medication side effects (aspirin, antibiotics), too much caffeine or alcohol intake, ear infections – which can lead to rupture of the eardrum, dental problems, TMJ or jaw problems, following surgery or radiation therapy to the head or neck, a rapid change in environmental pressure (airplane rides, elevators, scuba diving), severe weight loss from malnutrition or dieting, bicycle riding with the neck extended for lengthy time frames, high blood pressure, nerve conditions (MS, migraine headache), as well as other conditions such as acoustic neuroma, anemia, labyrinthitis, Meniere’s disease, otosclerosis, and thyroid disease. The good news is that most of the time, tinnitus comes and goes and does not require treatment. When tinnitus is associated with other symptoms, does not get better or go away, or is in only one ear, it is wise to consult with a doctor of chiropractic. Spinal manipulation and other chiropractic treatment approaches are often VERY helpful in resolving tinnitus with the benefits of avoiding the need for medications, all of which carry secondary side effects. Chiropractic approaches are also highly effective when tinnitus is accompanied by dizziness or vertigo, usually requiring treatment applied to the upper neck area. So, how does whiplash cause tinnitus? There are primary as well as secondary causes that can give rise to tinnitus after whiplash. After looking at the long list of causes above, direct trauma to the head such as hitting the side window, the back of the seat, the steering wheel, mirror and/or windshield makes obvious sense. Secondary causes often involve the TMJ or jaw which is commonly injured in whiplash. By itself, TMJ can cause ear pain, tinnitus, vertigo (dizziness), hearing loss, and headaches. Because many nerves that innervate the neck and head arise from the neck as well as from the cranial nerves, spinal manipulation of the neck as well as certain cranial manipulations can have a dramatic benefit in treatment of whiplash induced tinnitus.Tinnitus can be helped with chiropractic treatment. http://www.boweldiseases.net 26 1st 4 slides Hello, welcome to this video explaining the damage Helicobacter pylori can cause. As many symptoms as there can be, it is important to understand that helicobacter pylori bacteria causes ulcers and inflammation of the stomach lining. This bacterial infection can have a wide range of symptoms. The same is true for Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome, Candida Yeast Infections, and a host of other digestive problems. Many times, all of these are interconnected. 8 Ulcers cause a burning pain in the stomach or abdominal region. This is due to this bacteria degrading the mucous layer which protects the stomach lining allowing stomach acid to burn the stomach lining. 10 Pain is often made worse when the concentration of acid in the stomach is stronger. This occurs after eating. Nighttime pain is also common. 10 Helicobacter pylori often is associated with poor appetite, being hungry soon after eating, and weight loss. See how it gets confusing already? 7 Helicobacter pylori is also associated with heartburn, belching, farting, nausea, and vomiting. In addition it can lead to blood in the stool. These symptoms also describe many digestive problems that can not be quantitatively identified. Medical professionals often advise medications which mask the symptoms. Or we self medicate using the wide variety of choices we have at the pharmacies. 9 Depression and worry can set in after not being able to rid yourself of these symptoms. Stress and worry always makes conditions worse. We need confidence we can get better in order to heal. 9 There are many ways to decrease the pain and treat the symptoms with antacids, milk, or the many medications available. These do not in any way cure the ulcer. The condition usually gets worse. They may allow healing for a while making us think they are the answer. Getting rid of the bacterial infection is the only sure way. 15 Helicobacter pylori exploits the protective mucous layer of the stomach lining. It uses the stomach's own mucous layer as its protection. It then infects deep into the stomach lining causing acid to burn through to the muscles and possibly all the way through the lining. 12.5 2 slides When our immune system determines we are infected with Helicobacter pylori, it produces antibodies which attacks the infection. Our killer T-Cells which protect us also try to eliminate the infection. The bacterial population, plus all of the body's protective mechanisms cause a large number of cells to accumulate in the stomach lining. This cause inflammation in the stomach lining due to all the cells battling for survival or elimination. 5 Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach lining. 5 Colitis, is inflammation of the colon, usually the large intestine. 5 Crohn's is continual inflammation of any part of the digestive system. Ulcerative Colitis is inflammation of the large intestine and rectum. 9 Helicobacter pylori directly causes ulcers by degrading eh mucous layer of the stomach lining allowing acid to burn through the lining. 20 Helicobacter pylori can cause ulcers. This can lead to other problems. Our bodies get out of sync. We treat the problems with medications that do not cure the infection. Our bodies get more confused. We end up with bowel syndromes, gastritis, and lifestyle limitations. This bacteria is treatable which you can learn about in one of our other digestion Helicobacter Pylori Bacteria video. Thank you for watching this video. We made this video because this bacterial infection is serious and infects half the world's population. It is often misdiagnosed.

Antibiotics like penicillin have a critical role in medicine, but using them is not a decision to be taken lightly. Before the discovery of penicillin and other antibiotics, a cut on your knee or an ear infection could kill you. In 1928, a physician named Alexander Fleming found that a mold in one of his petri dishes was killing the bacteria he was trying to grow. This strain of mold formed the basis for one of the most significant medical discoveries in history: penicillin. Antibiotics soon became lifesavers, and so precious that unused penicillin was reclaimed from patients’ urine to give to others. However, even back then, Fleming knew that bacteria could become resistant to penicillin. In this episode, Ed Yong explains how serious the situation can become: “Bacteria have always been evolving ways of resisting the things that try to kill them. And now the overuse of antibiotics is exacerbating that problem.” Ed looks at shocking new footage of mutating bacteria thriving in antibiotics a thousand times stronger than can kill their non-superbug ancestors.
