Here's Austin's functional Cardio Marine workout for you guys. We will be timing it and competing against each other: 1:13 - Tire flips: Get your hands situated under the tire, poke your butt and chest out and keep your head up. Push the tire up with your legs, not pulling with your back. 1:33 - Double Battle Ropes: Squat down with the battle ropes in hand, chest up, and swing the ropes up and down at the same time. The ropes will tend to drag you forward, so make sure to lean back slightly. 1:53 - Single Battle Ropes: Same positioning as before, just with the hands alternating up and down instead of moving together. 2:12 - Sledgehammer Slams: Just start over the shoulder, and swing it down onto the tire as hard as you can. 2:22 - Low Sled pushes: Pushing the sled at one of the lowest points, while keeping your butt down. Well, in all likelihood you probably picture cabins, a lake, counsellors and dining halls. Yes, summer camp has a lot of good memories for many people. After all, it was a place where you met new friends, learned fascinating facts and tried out all sorts of activities that you never would have tried back in your regular life. Well, get rid of all those fond memories because the types of camps we’re talking about here don’t involve listening to the camp counsellor while you purposely burn your marshmallow at the fire. Although, we can’t guarantee other things won’t get burnt. The following camps are all pretty brutal in their own way. From hard labor to bizarre diets to punishing exercise regimes, these camps will have you longing for that lame summer camp your parents shipped you off to every year. There’s the gruelling Toughest Training Camp organization who live up to their name when it comes to exercise. We’ll also take a look at the boot camp for the Gurkhas. Legendary soldiers of Nepalese descent, this is definitely not the kind of camp where you learn to play guitar and weave necklaces. There are also the Gulags, which are technically camps – just for people who are seen as enemies of the state. People looking to lose weight often head to “fat” camps. Although as you’ll see, one particular Austrian fat camp has become a bit notorious. Have an internet addiction? That’s not a problem. China specializes in treating people in specialized camps. Whether you get out alive is a whole different matter. If you’re interested in the Navy SEALs but don’t want to actually serve in the military you can always try out Kokoro Camp. There is no way to target fat burn, but there are ways to build more muscle and burn more fat during your workouts. If your main goal is to burn fat, many traditional exercises and training styles may not be the best route for you. Typically when I'm at the gym and I look around I see a bunch of people doing exercises that don't really match up with their goals. If you're trying to get some bigger biceps you shouldn't be on the eliptical doing hours of cardio and conversely if you're trying to lose some weight and burn some belly fat you shouldn't be smashing out set after set of bicep curls. Exercises and training styles are like tools and before you just assume that watching one or two rocky movies is all the knowledge you need on exercising let's make sure that you've chosen the right tool for the job or I should for your goal. If your goal is to lose belly fat I hate to break it to you, but there is no exercise that can directly target the fat on your belly, but there are plenty of exercise methods that can indirectly burn the fat from your belly, and in this video I'll be going over ten of these methods....These training methods will help you burn more fat during & after your workout. Let's start with the very first one & that's peripheral heart action training. This is my favorite way to do all my weight training workouts, and I highly suggest that if you're trying to lose some belly fat you incorporate this style of training right away. In general your workouts for the week should be a mixture of some more aerobic & some more anaerobic workouts, meaning some of them will be geared more towards lifting heavy weights & others should be geared towards improving your cardiovascular function. But what you'll notice is that during your heavy weight training days, you wind up taking longer breaks & not breathing quite as heavy. Sometimes after some weight training workouts besides the soreness that you might feel in your muscles you may not feel like you worked out at all. So that's where peripheral heart action training comes into play. It helps incorporate an element of cardio into your weight training workout without you having to sacrifice the amount of weight your lifting. So you won't get weaker, but you'll be able to burn much more calories & accomplish much more in a shorter period of time. The best way to do this is by combining an upper body & a lower body movement into one set. For example you can combine a bench press with a squat. So you would do six to eight reps on the bench press & then right away with no break you would do squats for six to eight reps. You would perform both of these exercises with a heavy weight load & you would only take a break after completing both of them. With peripheral heart action training what you're doing is taking the blood that your heart would normally just have to pump to your chest & arms if you were just doing bench press by itself & what your doing is your forcing your body to pull & pump all that blood back down to your legs right after your set of bench without any break or recovery. This makes your heart work much harder allowing you to get your heart rate & breathing rate higher & this will burn more calories & fat in the process. Now let's say that you don't want to work legs & upper body in the same day you want to focus on each on separate days. Well the good news is that peripheral heart action training doesn't only work only if you combine an upper & a lower body movement. It'll also work if you combine two movements that work opposing muscle groups. For example if you combine chest & back movements together with no break. Or if you do quad & hamstring movements together with no break your heart will still have to work much harder to push the blood from the anterior part of your body to the posterior part of your body. So peripheral heart action training try it out. The second exercise style that can help you burn a lot more belly fat is known as cardio acceleration training. We actually have a whole hour long class at our gyms dedicated to this type of training because it's so effective. Once again it involves super setting two exercises. Except this time instead of doing two weight training exercises back to back we're combining a weight training exercise with a cardio exercise with no break. So an example of this would be to perform a set of barbell squats with heavy weight for let's say six to ten reps & then immediately with no break once you rack the bar you go right into high knees for thirty to forty five seconds. Then take a break & repeat for three to four sets

So I'm sure many people are wondering if this plan will actually work or not. Depends on what you mean work. Will it make you lose weight? Yeah it'll make you lose weight. Don't get too excited yet let me explain. For day one the military diet claims to give you 1400 calories, but unless you are going to be pan frying a very fatty piece of meat, according to my calculations that number is closer to 1300 calories. On day 2 they say that you get 1200 calories and on day 3 they claim you get 1100. Both of these numbers seem accurate and match what I came up with. I don't know how much you know about calories, but all of these numbers are pretty low. In fact this is a very low calorie diet, and that is the ONLY reason why it works. It has nothing to do with the food they tell you to eat, or how the meals are organized, it works simply because of being so low in calories. And when I say that it works I mean unless you weigh under 120lbs your going to lose weight on this diet. That's not necessarily a good thing. This diet is basically a high protein, low calorie diet which is nothing special. As long as you spend three days eating under 1200 calories you will probably lose weight Military diet, atkins diet, standing upside down on your head diet. You're going to lose weight almost no matter what you eat if the daily totals are that low. The military diet demonstrates this with the poor nutritionless meals they recommend. Common sense should tell you this is definitely not a healthy eating plan.The acsm or american college of sports medicine also does not recommend that you go under 1200 calories if you're a woman and not under 1800 calories if you're a man. They proceed to say that self starvation will actually slow your metabolic rate significantly. So almost all men and most women will be slowing their metabolic rate during this diet. Which brings me to one very important question for you: what happens after the 3 days? You're just going to take the results you earned, put them in your pocket, go pig out and call it a day? What do you think happens at the end of these 3 days of deprivation. Or were you really under the impression that you would keep the weight off. Why don't you just start brushing your teeth for only 3 days, and showering for 3 days. I mean I'm sure the rest of the time you should smell fine. Also you probably won't lose 10 lbs in the three days. I'm willing to bet that claim came from a very heavy man that was used to eating a lot more. So most men and especially women will probably not lose 10lbs in the 3 days. And to top that off a lot of the weight lost will be muscle and water weight. I'm pretty sure people go on diets to lose body fat...yeah Getting your body to look the way you probably want it to look does not take 3 days. Just like smelling clean doesn't take only 3 days of effort. You have to put in a consistent effort every day to stay clean, the results from showering don't last forever. So to answer your question once and for all, can you lose weight on the Military diet yes. And you can also lose weight from eating 240 pieces of gum per day. "From shit to fit. My 6 month military weight loss transformation journey!"

I've never really been fit or anything in that direction, although that was my main goal when I started working out a few years back. As a beginner, the progress was fast, but only in one direction: gaining weight and getting stronger. I was, however, happy with the results, which in turn resulted in changing my main goal to reaching my strength limit. As some of you may have figured, weight loss is not easy and it takes time. Which is why I gave up on it. I did it out of laziness. I wasn't mentally prepared for that kind of challenge. After all, I was a beginner. After roughly 4 years of training on and off, I joined the Norwegian army as a military police. I was prepared, not only did I train my body, but also my mind those last 4 years. My mentality was stronger, and I knew what challenges were ahead of me as a military police. That is where I realized I was ready. The task I previously failed and gave up on, I could now go back to. A second attempt. And this time, I wouldn't give up. If there's one thing i learned in the army, it's that giving up is not a solution nor an option. This is my journey, and any of you are more than welcome to watch me as I move, grow, and become what I always wanted; confident and happy.
