How to Get an Unlocked Phone to Work on AT&T & T-Mobile Envious of our neighbors across the pond? Unfortunately, a lot of quality phones never make it to U.S. shores, meaning most consumers will never get to experience devices like the behemoth Galaxy Note (my current daily driver, which might come here soon, we just don't know). If you do take the plunge with an unlocked phone, however, it can sometimes take a little doing in order to get it working properly on your GSM network, specifically Internet and MMS. This video will walk you through the steps required on AT&T, with instructions on T-Mobile down below. If you have an AT&T compatible Android phone, good news! Just like swapping the iPad microSIM into an iPhone, you can also swap it into other phones! Take a look at the video to see the settings and the connection working in action. You should leave all settings blank on the APN screen EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING: Name: AT&T Data (or whatever you want) APN: Broadband MCC: 310 MNC: 410 Authentication Type: None The song you hear every so often is "Watch Us Work It" on Devo's new album "Something for Everyone (Deluxe)" which I highly recommend!

Nothing is truly 'unlimited,' not even your data plan — here's what you should know before you buy your next plan. » Subscribe to NowThis: http://go.nowth.is/News_Subscribe You might think your data plan is unlimited — but if you look closely, you’ll find that there are a few speed bumps in the fine print. So what you’re actually getting is a limited unlimited plan. Mobile providers like T Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint all offer these unlimited plans, which let you talk, text, and surf the web as much as you want for a certain price point. But what a lot of people don’t realize is that these plans eventually reach a data limit, in which carriers will throttle your 4G speeds, causing temporary downgraded streaming services until the next billing cycle. Different carriers have different data caps — T Mobile and Sprint start capping users at 50 GB, AT&T caps them at 22 and Verizon caps between 22 and 75 GB, depending on how much you’re willing to pay for a plan. According to marketing research group NPD, the average U.S. consumer uses 31.4 GB a month, which includes both wifi and cellular data. With this in mind, T Mobile and Verizon’s high-tier data plans are pretty generous, especially if you supplement data usage with wifi. But with Sprint’s unlimited data plan, you might constantly find your screen buffering. March 2, 2017 UPDATE! Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint all now have competing unlimited data plans for smartphones, tablets and some mobile hotspots. But they each differ, and have restrictions you need to understand. Unlimited, unfortunately, does not always mean unlimited. And most unlimited data plans are not designed to be the home internet replacement RVers are looking for on the road. In this video, we explain terms like throttling, network management, mobile hotspot high speed data caps, video optimization and international roaming - and compare all four carriers to each other in terms of price and usability for a RVing mobile internet setup. We also offer alternative unlimited data plans we're tracking in the industry. This video guide is very likely to be obsolete soon (the industry changes rapidly), but the accompanying article will be kept updated. *UPDATE: Package Disabler Pro is no longer available on the Google Play Store at this moment (11/2/17). Download BK Package Disabler instead, as it works just as well. I have only been able to test this on an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 edge running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, so please try it with your device if it is different and let me know if it works or not so I can update the description. Be sure to thank him in the comments if this helped you! List of devices that this doesn't work on (so far): -Samsung Galaxy S6(edge)(+), Note 5, Galaxy S7(edge) on Sprint and MetroPCS (Sprint users see above) -Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on AT&T -Samsung Galaxy S5 -Samsung Galaxy S4 on KitKat -Samsung Galaxy Prime Core Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe! I have done this and used my iPhone 3GS for over 4 months now. Works great. This is a perfect way to use an AT&T iPhone without having to jailbrake it or pay monthly for data. I can only say this works for AT&T because I have not tried it with any other. My iPhone is a AT&T activated, I bought it from a guy on craigslist. Leave a comment if you have any questions or concerns. SORRY that I forgot to change the brightness level on my iPhone so its just a bright light. To turn off "enabled 3g" and "cellular data" go to Settings, general, network, and turn both of them off. Then to turn off location services go to settings and it will be the 4th one down from the top and turn it off.

Here's how to run your home internet off your Android smartphone's wifi tethering capability. To do this, you will first need a rooted Android smartphone with Android Wifi Tether installed, hopefully an unlimited data plan (such as Sprint or you have grandfathered unlimited on T-Mobile/Verizon/AT&T), and a Wifi repeater. You can just run your home internet off your phone if you house is small but if you have lots of rooms and walls or multi-floors, you will need a wifi repeater to repeat signals efficiently as Android smartphones are not designed to be routers. By adding a wifi repeater, you will be able to take most advantage of your Android smartphone's wifi tethering capability. As a word of caution, you can run your home internet off your Android smartphone but don't abuse it to a point where carriers will suspect you of abusing their network and kick you off. (No, don't use bittorrent.) But for most general web browsing, this will work pretty darn good. I highly advise you to get a Linksys WRT54G router and install DD-WRT. You can get Linksys WRT54G router on Amazon here: http://amzn.to/y26ktM Install DD-WRT here (which turns your router into wifi repeater with more range than buying a repeater): http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G/GL/GS/GX I did this at my parents house over the weekend where they don't have cable/DSL internet and works very well. Now instead of setting up 3-4 different Android smartphones, I have just one plus a repeater, why didn't I do this before? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I use Canon 7D for recording most of my YouTube videos, for my setup, see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9gqH2ErDZE ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Why You Should Choose Android Over iPhone/iOS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYgofunq3OE ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Want to contact me? AT&T is launching this week their new NEW unlimited data plans for smartphones - making their plans more competitive than they've ever offered before. And perhaps even one of the most unique features - unlimited data on internet only devices? But these new plans have some catches including 10GB of high speed mobile hotspot use on smartphones & tablets and network management after 22GB of usage. What does this mean? Especially for RVers who are looking for home internet replacements while they travel. How can these plans fit into your overall mobile internet arsenal? In this short video we explain the limitations of these plans, what network management means. If you use more than your data plan allows, you'll get charged a premium rate. Many people have received huge cell phone bills. News story: I remember the day well, the very first iPad was delivered to our RV's doorstep 7 years ago this month. We excitedly unpackaged it, held it in our hands and marveled at this new class of product. We turned it on, and activated AT&T's month-to-month unlimited data plan for $29.99/month. This was a time when unlimited pretty much matched the commonly recognized definition of unlimited. Pay the bill each month, and use all the data you wanted. No slow downs for using too much. Just a few weeks later, AT&T stopped offering this sweet unlimited data plan. However, any lucky iPad pioneer who had activated the plan and kept paying that monthly bill - was able to keep the plan. For seven years, many of us did. We held onto them for dear life. Enjoying our Netflix and every other streaming service to launch since. While these plans never officially included mobile hotspot use, these rare plans became rather valuable. The value climbed as other unlimited options started to become, well, not really unlimited. Just last week, these plans were selling for upwards of $3100 on eBay to transfer on to new owners. And that didn't include an iPad. AT&T's own original unlimited iPhone plan started being hard throttled after a few GB of usage in a month (and later, they switched to network management after 22GB of usage due to legal action taken). But the iPad plans remained untouched. Until now. For the rest of the story: https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/end-of-an-era-old-att-ipad-unlimited-data-plans-now-subject-to-network-management/

It's month to month with no contract! I'm saving almost $40 per month compared to my previous AT&T plan. A sim card is required so it will not work on a Verizon iPhone. Also you need to be jailbroken to change your APN settings to get data to work. Data speeds are the same (they use AT&T & T Mobiles networks) and voice coverage has been great. Because AT&T is throttling the top 5% of data users on their grandfathered unlimited plans I switched to Smart Talk. AT&T reduced my 3G data speed by almost ten times to the equivalent of Edge and they wouldn't tell me the bandwidth cap where throttling begins. Suck it AT&T. Verizon and Sprint are no better, so I'm giving Smart Talk a go. This plan saves a lot of money if you buy a used iPhone or are no longer under a contract. You can find the full guide on my blog http://www.iphone4idiots.com/2012/02/goodbye-att-straight-talk-is-best-iphone-carrier-option/ Thanks to Roller over at SinfuliPhone for introducing me to Straight Talk

All of these activities contribute to your Internet data usage. Data is the amount of online information sent or received from your home Internet connection, not how much time you're online. You may be using data on your devices when you surf the Internet, stream movies, check your email, or play games—anytime you're connected to your home network, including when connected to your Wi-Fi. This could even include apps on your Internet-connected television. And programs running in the background on your devices, such as syncing or software updates, may use data. Except for unlimited plans, your Internet plan has a monthly allowance of data based on your speed level. Because the plans have so much data, many customers will never reach the limit of their data allowance. For example, even on plans with the lowest data allowance, you could watch about 50 hours of high-def movies or about 175 hours of standard- definition movies in a month and still stay within your data allowance. To help you manage your usage, we'll even send you email notices if your data use is approaching your allowance. So, to make the best choice for which plan works for you, let's take a look at a personalized estimate of how much data your common online activities may use. We have a handy tool at att.com/internet-usage called the Data Calculator. With this calculator, you'll be able to estimate how many of your online activities impact your Internet data usage. For example, if you send 500 one-page emails, stream 20 hours of songs, and stream 15 hours of HD video, all of that online activity will only use around 40 gigabytes in a month. Or, here's another example, if you're into games and movies. You can spend 320 hours playing online games, and stream 30 hours of HD movies. Even with all that online usage, you'll only be using around 90 gigabytes in a month. That's a lot of data. Yep! You can do all this before exceeding your monthly data allowance. Using the Data Calculator as a guide, you may want to adjust your Internet activities or even change your Internet plan to another available plan, based on your usage. Please note: At this time, customers with Fixed Wireless or DSL Internet are not eligible for the unlimited data allowance. If you use more data than your plan's allowance, there may be an overage fee of $10 for each 50 gigabytes of additional data. But, to keep it stress free, we won't charge you for the first two overages. To see your usage details, just sign in to your myAT&T account with your app or at att.com. Select "My Internet" and any overage fees are labeled as overage packs in the MY USAGE section. Want to upgrade to a faster plan with more data, or even unlimited data if it's available in your area? Just select "Manage my plan". We also make it easy to track your previous and current Internet usage by selecting "See all my usage". You can check current usage on the go using the myAT&T app on your smartphone or tablet. Or, just sign in to your account at att.com to check your data usage at any time. Thanks for learning more and choosing AT&T!

Verizon is the #1 mobile provider in the US, and that’s not an accident. It’s also not an accident that its competitors have been closing the gap for a while now. READ our full review https://www.reviews.org/mobile/verizon-cell-phone-plans-review/?kbid=123489 What do we cover? We'll cover Verizon Wireless's speed, data, packages, pricing, and customer service. Verizon is often considered to be one of the best, if not the best, cell phone carrier. We'll either validate or debunk those claims.

AT&T has several tools in place to help you manage your wireless data usage. You can check your usage using the myAT&T app or by calling star 3282 pound (*3282#)from your AT&T wireless phone, and we'll even send you email notices if you're approaching your data plan threshold. Don't have the app yet? You can get the myAT&T app for free by texting "myatt" to 556699 from your wireless device, so you can manage many features of your account right from your device. Here are some steps you can take to manage your data use. First, high-definition video is great for viewing on your 60 inch TV, but when you stream on a smartphone or a tablet, DVD quality looks great and uses less data. With Stream Saver, you can watch more video on the go with your same data package. You don't have to do anything to take advantage of this great benefit. Stream Saver is automatically added to all of your wireless numbers for free; no extra steps are required. If you want to turn Stream Saver off, you can do it at any time in your myAT&T app. Access the myAT&T app; select "My wireless", then "See all my usage"; and finally select "Manage Stream Saver". Or, from your computer, select "My wireless", then "See all my usage"; and then select "Manage data". Check out the details at att.com/streamsaver. We can also send you alerts when you approach your monthly plan limits. Using the myAT&T app, you can opt in or out of certain usage alerts. Select the Menu button, and then "Profile"; scroll down and select "Communication preferences"; and then select "Data usage alerts". When you receive these alerts, or if you think you might exceed your plan's data allotment, try these tips: Use Wi-Fi when possible. Cut back on usage until your new billing cycle begins. Turn off data usage by device if you have a Mobile Share Value plan. Or update your plan. And if you have more than more device on your account, it's a good idea to see your data usage by device. To see a breakdown of each device's data use, sign in to your wireless account with the myAT&T app or online. You'll see an overview of your recent data usage since your last bill. Now, select "See all my usage" and you'll see a breakdown of each device's data use on your account. You can turn off data for any of your devices for the remainder of your billing cycle by scrolling down to "Manage data". Explore all the ways you can manage your AT&T account online at att.com/myatt. Thank you for choosing AT&T.

But in this joke tutorial I'm going to show you how you can get unlimited data for free, and this will work on any cell phone or cell carrier. It works by tricking your cell carrier into thinking you haven't downloaded any data at all, therefore giving you unlimited cell data to download. ▼ More Videos ▼ How to Get Gigabit Internet for Free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgVxevWFSNM&list=PLFr3c472Vstyzq3WECllYHH7qxOHYSdZG&index=13 Upgrade Your TV to HDR for Free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dG9owYyq1k&list=PLFr3c472Vstyzq3WECllYHH7qxOHYSdZG&index=22

Audio from phone call to AT&T support confirming that AT&T requires both voice and data plans for iPhone 4 phones. What a shame - These devices would make great VOIP phones if AT&T didn't make them so expensive by requiring us to buy voice service we don't even want.

6/2/2010- AT&T (NYSE:T) is introducing two new data plans starting on June 7, that include limits on data usage. The plans will replace the $30 per month plan that has unlimited usage, which has been required for all smartphones, including the iPhone. The changes are supposed to take effect when the next generation of Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone is expected to be unveiled. Subscribers will be able to sign up for a $25 per month plan that includes 2 gigabytes of data per month, which the carrier says will be enough for about 98% of its smartphone customers. Additional gigabytes will cost $10 each. Another plan will cost $15 per month for 200 megabytes of data, which is expected to be enough for 65% of its smartphone customers. If the customer goes over the allotted amount, they'll pay another $15 for 200 megabytes. With the plan and voice service, smartphones could cost as little as $55 per month before taxes and add-on fees, down from $70 per month. "AT&T helps mobilize everything on the Internet - your favorite web sites, TV shows, music, games and social networks. Virtually everything previously done while sitting at a computer can now be done on the go," said Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "To give more people the opportunity to experience these benefits, we're breaking free from the traditional 'one-size-fits-all' pricing model and making the mobile Internet more affordable to a greater number of people."

It looks like the unlimited data plan long-time AT&T customers covet is making a comeback, but there’s a catch, of course. If you subscribe to AT&T’s DirecTV Satellite or U-Verse Cable service, the wireless carrier has an unlimited data plan for you. The deal will be made available to new and existing customers starting tomorrow, and it includes all the data, talk, and text you manage for $100 per month. A second and third phone on the plan will run you $40 each, but the fourth one’s free. Don’t go over 22GB in a month though, or AT&T will probably choose to throttle you at peak service hours. Now, this could be a one-off deal intended to pull in a bunch of new customers both to AT&T’s wireless service AND to DirecTV and U-Verse, but it could be a sign that AT&T is going to join the rest of the wireless world and finally offer an unlimited plan. We’ll know soon. The Occulus Rift went on pre-order last week and we now know one of its biggest competitors, the HTC Vive, will be going up for pre-order on February 29th, perhaps in an effort to get a leap on the rest of the VR competition. See what we did there? Cuz it’s a leap year! Anyway, we still don’t know how much the Vive is going to cost, and that’s kind of a big deal because the Rift is going to run a fairly stiff $600. If HTC is smart, they’ll undercut the Rift a bit. On the other hand, thought, HTC can use all the money it can get. The company’s smartphone division has been bleeding bread and, according to The Telegraph, HTC has stated it is turning its focus to VR, which isn’t an explicit statement that it’s quitting smartphones, but ... well, it’s likely. The Vive will ship in April, while the Occulus Rift is slated to ship March 28. We went hands on with the Vive at CES 2016, and you can read all about our impressions at the link below. http://www.digitaltrends.com/virtual-reality/htc-vive-pre-hands-on/ Speaking of CES and VR: While at the massive show, Digital Trends was hard at work producing exclusive 360-degree Virtual Reality video of some of the most interesting displays on the floor.
