This has been a topic that I've been researching over the past few months, and decided that it was something that needed to be discussed on FemmeHead because hardly anyone talks about it. Why is female libido so taboo? There was a study done in Germany on medical students to access the impact of HBC on libido. http://bit.ly/2m20rx7 They took out women using multiple forms as well as those not sexually active. Out of the remaining 1046 participants + 32.4% were at risk of FSD + 5.8% at high risk of hypoactive sexual desire disorder + 1% for arousal disorder + 1.2% for decreased lubrication + 8.7% for orgasm disorder + 2.6% for satisfaction problems + 1.1% for pain Then they divided them further into four groups: + hormonal oral contraception + non-oral hormonal contraception + non-hormonal contraception + no contraception I couldn’t figure out if they categorized FAM as non-hormonal or no contraception. Lowest to Highest risk of FSD: + non-hormonal contraception + no contraception + hormonal oral contraception + non-oral hormonal contraception For desire and arousal oral contraceptive users and non-oral hormonal contraceptive users were at the highest risk. Did the Birth Control Pill Steal Your Libido? Today we’re chatting about how the birth control pill can steal your libido and how to get your groove back naturally. https://drbrighten.com/pbcsdiet/ If you’re on the pill now or were on it in the past and experience any of the following, this video is for you: Diminished libido Lack of interest in sex Painful intercourse Inability to achieve orgasm Fatigue How is your libido connected to the pill? It’s actually quite common for women to report a diminished libido while on the pill or while coming off of it – even when they’re in their 20s and 30s! It’s common because the birth control pill changes your physiology at a genetic level. The pill causes your liver to pump out much more sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) than it would otherwise. SHBG is exactly what it sounds like – a protein that grabs onto sex hormones and binds them, making them impossible for your body to use. This is bad news when you’re already experiencing a low libido because you need those hormones to feel radiant and sexy. Knowing this, you’d think you could simply toss your birth control pills and everything will go back to normal, but that’s unfortunately not the case. Because the change in your liver is happening on a genetic level, SHBG doesn’t go back down to normal levels once most women go off the pill. Some researchers claim that this change to the liver is permanent. More SHBG means less estrogen, less progesterone, and less testosterone. It also affects non-sex hormones like cortisol and thyroid hormone. Not good! But don’t worry. There is a way to get your libido back. I recommend that all women on or recovering from the birth control pill show their liver some serious love with a liver detox. Your liver is a huge site of hormone processing, so when you’re taking the birth control pill (read: extra man-made hormones), your liver is working double time. A 21-day professional grade, doctor-approved detox is the first step to replenishing vital nutrients and helping your liver recover and repair. If you’re experiencing low libido and you’re on the pill or have taken the birth control pill in the past, please know that you’re not alone. The first step to recovering your sex drive is to get to the root cause of the issue. The foundation of recovering your libido is in a whole foods detox diet. The lack of libido or sexual appetite may be caused by several different things such as stress, psychological disorders, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal irregularities, as well as others. The stressful routine of our modern life, when paired with bad eating habits may cause us to have a low libido. People who are in a relationship normally feel more pressure to maintain their libido since they don’t want to disappoint their partners, and, because of this, they oftentimes turn to remedies that may have harmful side effects. Furthermore, a lack of libido also causes constant dissatisfaction that may cause psychological problems. So, learning natural ways to improve your libido helps avoid psychological and social problems apart from improving our sex lives. Here are seven ways to improve libido levels: 1. Honey with cinnamon Cinnamon contains stimulating properties that increase our body’s heat, which greatly helps people with low libido problems. When paired with honey, which is rich in vitamins and minerals, this recipe can better improve our body’s functions. It’s very simple. Just take a tablespoon of honey and powdered cinnamon every morning. 2. Adding Peruvian apple to your smoothies Natural smoothies are popular drinks that help treat our body’s basic nutrient deficiencies. So, if someone is already drinking any smoothies daily to improve their health, all they have to do is add Peruvian apple powder to any smoothie they are already drinking. Peruvian apple powder contains both aphrodisiac and energetic properties that will fit well into any smoothie. However, people that suffer from hypertension or nervousness should not consume Peruvian apple, because its energetic properties are very strong. 3. Ylang Ylang essential oil Essential oils are widely used in sensual rituals to improve a couple’s intimacy and can help treat several conditions. Ylang Ylang essential oil is considered to be one of the most aphrodisiac oils, along with vanilla, jasmine, cinnamon or ginger. You can use these oils for sensual massages that help improve your partner’s libido. 4. Adding ginger to your recipes Just like cinnamon, ginger is a very stimulating spice. Because of this it’s ideal to improve libido in a natural and practical way. Furthermore, ginger helps activate our bodies metabolism, promoting a general feeling of health and well-being. Just like the Peruvian apple, all you have to do is add ginger to your favorite recipes, to increase the speed of the metabolism, and improve the blood flow to your sexual organs. 5. Laminaria Laminaria (or deep-sea tangle) is a seaweed that is rich in minerals, complex B vitamins, fiber, and protein. Laminaria’s role is to provide the minerals that are essential to the body and increase sexual appetite. Just frequently use laminaria to feel your libido rise. 6. Bach’s flower Bach’s flower remedies are used to treat emotional and psychological disorders. They are also often used to fight stress. To increase libido, some specific fragrances are recommended, such as walnut, wild rose, white chestnut, and olive. Bach’s flower remedies treat libido as more of a psychological problem so it’s important to find a therapist that can listen to your specific case and prescribe whatever might be best for you. 7. Sunbathing Sunbathing is important for a number of reasons, especially because of our body’s need for vitamin D. The experience of sunbathing without clothes on is exciting, both physically and socially, because it’s so uncommon. So, for the people who have the privacy and opportunities needed to sunbathe naked, we recommend taking advantage of this to improve your libido. It’s important to maintain a routine whenever we choose one of these low libido treatments, so choose the treatments that fit your lifestyle the best and stick to it faithfully in order to improve your libido. Hormone Doc Dr. Sara Gottfried, author of the hormone cure, stops by UW Radio to discuss why she is NOT an advocate of the birth control pill. The pill takes your testosterone level to normal to almost non existent. The irony is that you go on the pill to protect yourself when having sex but low testosterone equals low sex drive. It can take up to a year for testosterone levels to be replenished back to normal levels after you go off the pill. It can cause moodiness and even make PMS symptoms worse. Dr. Sara recommends getting your cortisol, thyroid, and sex hormone binding globulin levels tested if you are experiencing hormonal side effects from being on the pill. Why don't all women suffer negative side effects from the pill? It has to do with the receptors in your body for testosterone are either super efficient and can work around having low testosterone or you can have receptors that only work when there is a large amount of testosterone and these people will see more of the negative side effects. http://www.kirkspoweraging.com http://www.prescription2000.com In young women on birth control pills sex hormone binding globulin may be increased creating a relative insufficiency of estrogen and testosterone, two hormones critical for the health of the tissue around the vaginal opening (vestibule). The medical term is called "Vestibulodynia." If you are a pre-menopausal women on the birth control pill and tense pelvic floor muscles, vaginal infections, and skin infections around the vagina have been ruled out bring this to the attention of your doctor. The solution may be getting off the oral contraceptives and being placed on a combination estradiol (.03%) and testosterone (.01%) applied to the vestibular area twice daily. Free testosterone and estradiol levels should be taken along with sex hormone binding globulin. With stopping of the birth control pill and applying topical testosterone and estradiol as outline in Drs. Burrows and Goldstein's article symptoms may improve. Post menopausal women may also benefit with testosterone and estradiol topical application around the vagina and intravaginally and not only sexual pain might improve but the strength and moistness of the vaginal tissue, sexual desire and urinary "stress" incontinence many times is reduced or eliminated. Other Things You Can Do! - Don't eat sugar, processed carbohydrates, all dairy foods, glutinous grains (wheat mainly, all baked goods) eggs, coffee for 1 month at least. - Take a good probiotic - Culturelle 2/d; VSL#3 2/d. - Take vitamin D 5000 IU/d and have your blood level checked in a month Make sure you see your gynecologist or physician who deals with female issues and bring them each of the reference materials below and ask them if testosterone and/or estrogen insufficiency could be aggravating your pain. Is the Birth Control Pill Causing Adrenal Fatigue? Today we’re chatting about two big ways the birth control pill can affect your adrenals, aka your hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis. Birth Control Quick Start Detox Guide https://drbrighten.com/pbcsdiet/ Your HPA-axis is how your brain talks to your adrenal glands to make hormones. HPA dysregulation (commonly known as adrenal fatigue) means they’re not communicating very well. What adrenal fatigue looks like: Difficulty waking in the morning Afternoon fatigue Craving sugar, salt or fat Increased illness due to immune system depression Hormone imbalance Acne and other skin problems Depression Low libido Poor memory Increased PMS and menopausal symptoms Dizziness, feeling light headed or “head rush” when rising from a lying or seated position Irritability Inability to cope with stress There are two main ways the birth control pill can contribute to your adrenal fatigue: The pill disrupts adrenal function. When you take your birth control pill, you’re introducing more estrogen, which triggers your body’s inflammatory response. Your adrenals know what’s up and respond to inflammation by producing cortisol to suppress it (yup – cortisol is anti-inflammatory!). This would be fine on a one-off basis, but the daily dose of estrogen and that subsequent cortisol response is just too much for your body’s HPA-axis to handle long-term. The pill binds cortisol so your body can’t use it. If that’s not bad enough, the pill also raises levels of a protein called cortisol-binding globulin, which grabs onto cortisol and keeps your body from being able to use it. This means you have a ton of bound cortisol pumping through your system that your body can’t even use to squash inflammation. Meanwhile, inflammation keeps rising. This result is a vicious cycle of your body responding to the pill with an inflammatory response, your adrenals pumping anti-inflammatory cortisol, and your body binding the cortisol so you can’t use it. Over time, an increase in inflammation can cause a whole host of symptoms and conditions, and your brain and adrenal glands stop talking in a way that’s affective for your body after so much abuse. If you’re on the pill or have a history with the pill, find an expert in post birth control syndrome (https://drbrighten.com/post-birth-control-syndrome/) and holistic medicine. First of all let me go through some of the more traditional methods to control male fertility. Believe it or not but hemp and rue were used in medieval times in Europe. Apparently it reduced male fertility by fifty percent. In Persia in the middle ages me were using Levant cotton to control male reproductive ability but in ten to twenty percent of cases they permanently destroyed male fertility. Other organic methods include extracts from papaya seeds that were given to monkeys in 2002 and the monkeys had no sperm in their ejaculate and the rest of their bodies continued to function fine. That same year researchers used the Jamun plant from Africa and temporarily reduced the sperm count in rats. But none of this research has led to any fertility products for men that can be purchased over the counter or through prescription. For most of human existence the withdrawal method has been used with a four percent failure rate. Women used to be more in tune with their cycles and humans have known the days women are most fertile. So it makes sense that this method has been the most tried tested and true. In recent history Gossypol is a cotton extract made into the first clinically tried contraceptive pill for men. It was found to increase male sex drive with stop sperm production. Dr. Elsimar Coutinho performed the medical trials and on ten thousand patients and over the course of two years. The drug worked perfectly. It was natural and it worked. Dr. Coutinho said that the drug was shot down because of resistance from Feminists (no surprise there,) Politicians (Obviously influenced by female voters,) as well as the drug companies because they couldn't make a profit because there was no way to patent the drug because it was just a natural extract. There is no way that such a drug would ever receive FDA approval in the United States. I'm mostly allergic to conspiracy theories but if you have a product ready to go on the market that's safe, cheap and effective and feminists are trying to stop it then you're definitely onto something. And I can't believe that feminists stopped it dead in its tracks in the seventies.

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- If you are struggling with side effects from birth control pills, researchers at UC Reproductive Medicine Research Center may be able to help. They are testing a simple supplement that might reduce a common complaint for many women. Medical reporter Liz Bonis explains in today's Medical Edge. If you noticed a drop in sexual desire a short time after you started taking oral contraceptive pills, you are likely not alone. Doctor Julie Sroga says it's a common complication for many women, which is why she is part of a team testing a common supplement that might help lift libido called DHEA. Dr. Sroga says "what the thought of DHEA is that it may increase testosterone levels, or estrogen levels that might improve sexual function." DHEA is a hormone naturally made by the body and the National Institutes of Health says it can also be made in the laboratory from chemicals found in wild yam and soy. In Sroga's study, "we are looking at women that have been on birth control for at least three months that are complaining of sexual dysfunction that really started as a result of their birth control pills." The goal is to find out if this additional supplement might make a difference for those on birth control in easing some of these symptoms. It will be compared in the trial to a placebo or sugar pill. The supplement is taken in addition the birth control pills right now and if it's established that it works Dr. Sroga says "potentially we could combine it in a birth control pill." It's being studied in healthy women, ages 18 to 40 who have taken oral contraceptives for at least a couple of months. If you would like more information on this study you can call 513-584-4100 or click here. There is no cost to participate and if you qualify you are paid for time and travel.

Sex Drive & The Birth Control Pill, Does The Pill Ruin Sex for Girls? Women's Sexual Health.

15 Everyday Habits to Boost Your Libido 1.Plan more date nights If a fun Saturday night with your hubby means watching Showtime in sweatpants, it could be killing your sex drive. Rekindle your romance by getting out of the house for an old-fashioned date. Your dates don't need to be grand romantic evenings; just going to the movies or out to dinner can reignite the spark you felt when you first met. 2.Pop a different birth control pill Hormonal changes take a big toll on your sex drive. Birth control pills can be one of the biggest perpetrators: they can reduce your body's production of testosterone, and in turn, your desire to get down. Certain varieties may even cause pain during sex. 3.Check other meds, too Take a look at your medicine cabinet—your prescriptions could be behind your lower libido. Aside from birth control pills, common offenders include drugs for high blood pressure, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), anxiety, and depression. 4.Divide household chores equally After a long day of work, you may head home for your other full-time job: being a parent. "After the kids go to bed, there's often cleanup followed by work that you've brought home," says Dr. Millheiser. "As a result, intimacy gets pushed to the background. 5.Set your room up for romance It's easy to get in the habit of letting your kids crawl into bed with you after they've had a bad dream, or sharing cuddle time with your cat or dog. These are major mood killers, says Dr. Millheiser, who suggests keeping the kiddos and pets out by simply locking the bedroom door at night. 6.Add sex to your to-dos We schedule doctor's appointments, work meetings, and drinks with friends—so why not sex? It's not the most romantic approach, but setting aside a specific time with your significant other means you're making a commitment to having an active sex life. 7.Use a lubricant Getting in the mood can be almost impossible if sex is painful for you—but it doesn't have to be.Silicone lubricants are longer-lasting and more moisturizing than the water-based alternatives. If this doesn't improve the situation. 8.De-stress before sex Everyday stressors—your job, your kids' grades, the leaky bathroom faucet—have a more powerful effect on your sex life than you may realize. Being stressed causes your body to produce more of the "fight or flight" hormone cortisol, which your body needs in small doses but can suppresses the libido when the body produces an excess. 9.Eat clean Following a heart-healthy diet could help you turn up the heat between the sheets. A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found a link between high cholesterol and women who have difficulty with arousal and orgasm. 10.Eat aphrodisiacs A growing body of research shows that certain vitamins and components can enhance sexual function and desire. Avocados, almonds, strawberries, and oysters are just a few foods that may set the mood. Here's the full list of foods for better sex. 11.Examine your relationship A slow sex drive may be a sign of broader relationship problems outside the bedroom. It could be bottled-up resentment over lots of minor issues (he left his toothbrush on the counter again?) or something bigger, like a lack of communication (like too much texting and not enough actual talking, as a recent study examined) 12.Go for a hike together Or a run, gym class, cooking seminar—any hobby or interest that you and your partner can do together, suggests Dr. Millheiser. "This can strengthen your emotional connection, and feelings of support boost desire. 13.Exercise often In fact, a recent study found that women who were taking antidepressants and were experiencing a dulled libido (a common side effect) improved sexual satisfaction by doing three 30-minute sweat sessions per week. 14.Listen to your body Sometimes, a slow sex drive winds up being one symptom of a larger medical problem. So if along with your low libido you begin noticing weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, and fatigue, don't ignore it—you may be among the 15 million Americans unknowingly suffering from a thyroid problem. 15.No dice? Visit your doc If your engine's still stalled after these lifestyle tweaks, prescription drugs may help. "Certain medications, such as testosterone or Wellbutrin, can be used on an off-label basis for the treatment of low libido and are only available with a prescription Thanks for watching and Subscribe for more updates.

Loss of libido in women after giving birth is a common condition and many women may be ashamed of discussing it. It can cause a lot of problems in the relationship with your partner. That’s why I’d like to discuss it here with you in this video. In order to treat the loss of libido we must first identify the cause, and solve it in order to restore back your health. It is normal for a mother to focus on her baby right after giving birth. And it is normal to lose interest in anything else for some weeks. This is due to the effect of certain hormones that your body makes so as to bond with your baby. However, after a couple of months you should regain your healthy interest in sexuality and intimacy with your husband. If you notice the persistence of loss of libido over a long time this could be due to either physical or psychological reasons. Physical causes are mainly due to the deficiency of certain elements, especially iron or vitamin D. These two elements may become deficient during breastfeeding and pregnancy, as they pass on to the baby. So our baby’s stores of these elements are decreased. I would recommend that if you suspect a deficiency in any of these elements, for example if you feel exhausted or have loss of libido or other shortness of breath symptoms, do a blood test for iron and vitamin D3. A blood test may show a deficiency of any of them, and in this case you may have to restore these elements using supplements. Another problem that occurs with pregnancy is that pregnancy may cause thyroid gland disorders. The thyroid gland is responsible for the body’s metabolism, and when its activities decrease, you may feel out of energy and lose your sexual desire. If you are using any medications, particularly antidepressants, it can cause loss of libido and delayed reactions. If you are taking any medications I’d recommend that you read the pamphlets to check what side effects they may cause, and when needed discuss the alternatives with your doctor. Psychological stress and marriage problems can cause loss of sexual desire. If you have any problems with your husband – because of giving the baby all your interest, for example – then you may feel not interested in being with him. I’d recommend that you work on solving these problems, either by reading books or seeking counselling. It is very important to solve any psychological problems in order to have your healthy libido back. Now I will talk to you about the requirements needed to solve the loss of libido after birth, using supplements. First of all, any nutritional deficiency should be treated. For example, if you have any iron deficiency, I would suggest that you eat more fresh vegetables, salads and meat. If iron remains deficient I’d recommend that you take iron supplements. Supplements may contain only iron or some elements added like folic acid and vitamin C. Folic acid is very important for building the red cell wall. And vitamin C helps in iron absorption. So both are very good. Might you not be getting enough sunlight or have vitamin D deficiency, I’d recommend that you take vitamin D3 supplements, as this will compensate the deficient vitamin D and gradually you will have a remarkable improvement in your overall health and sense of well-being. Vitamin D is very important. If you’ve been taking oral iron supplement for a long period of time with no improvement, your doctor might prescribe iron injections, which will have a faster influence on your iron levels. Talk to your doctor about it. Finally if you’re healthy enough you can always try Viagra. It’s as effective in women as in men since it improves your sexual performance. You can also apply testosterone cream. This cream can be applied on the vaginal opening. But remember: testosterone is the male hormone and it has some side effects. So do not apply it on the skin, only on the vaginal opening before sexual intercourse. A small amount is applied to the vagina, as illustrated here, and you will feel an improvement in your sexual desire. Do not feel ashamed to discuss with your doctor any health problems you may have. You deserve to live a happy life. With all my best regards! Many women struggle with low labido, or sex drive. In fact, up to 40% of women in the United States seek help from their doctors for this very issue. There's so many different things that can cause it, and a medical doctor will look at medical causes. For example, it could have to do with pelvic organ disfunction, it could have to do with pelvic organ muscles, it could have to do with certain medical diseases, or different medications that you might be taking. So after exploring all of those options, if all of those have been ruled out, then of course, it could be due to other much more complex issues - like psychological issues, perhaps self-esteem, or problems in your relationship with your partner. The treatment is going to depend on the cause. And so you mentioned that you've been to the doctor a few times actually, and they've said everything is fine, and so that is good that all medical problems have been ruled out, but of course that leaves you wondering what do you do, because nothings has improved over time. There are a few factors to consider, and after listening to this, you can decide what might apply to your situation, and what might help you best. Now when it comes to psychological issues, like I mentioned, it could have something to do with your relationship with your partner. It is actually a good thing to talk things out with your partner and let them know how your feeling. Perhaps in your discussion, the 2 of you will come up with the reason behind your low sex drive. And having them more aware of what you're going through may help them be more sensitive so it's not such an issue for you in the first place. Maybe there are things you need to work out with your partner, and once you've addressed those issues, then sex becomes not so much of an issue. There have been studies to show that when a couple is happy and things are going well, sex is only 10% of their relationship, but when things aren't going well, it's 90% of the relationship, because it's the one thing that they can look to to actually bond over, and if they're not having it, then it becomes a source of contention. Sometimes it's due to depression. If you're depressed, it means that you're probably just tired and you lack energy. You find that at the end of the day, the last thing that you want to do is think about that. And so if depression is a problem for you, do what you can to eliminate stressors in your life. Simplify things, and take time out for yourself to recharge. And if that doesn't help, then seek professional help from your doctor. Medication and counseling might be necessary. In fact sometimes counseling is not only productive for the person who's struggling with low labido or depression, but it might be good for the couple to go to counseling. There's counseling for couples to help them learn how to communicate better. There's also sex therapy - a lot of couples find success when they turn to that type of therapy. Another issue that could contribute to it all is low self-esteem. The last thing a woman wants to do is put herself out there if she feels like she's over-weight. And so if this is an issue for you, exercise, and start eating right, and take care of yourself. And actually, women notice when they start exercising, whether they lose weight or not, that they often have a higher sex drive, because it does boost testosterone levels in your blood. It's really good that you've acknowledged this as a problem, because that's the first step doing something about it. If talking with your partner and making lifestyle modifications - like reducing stress, exercising, making more time for each other - if those things aren't helping, then talk with professionals about other things you can do. Good luck with everything, and if you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

Watch more How to Get Rid of Acne videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/505775-How-Do-Birth-Control-Pills-Affect-Acne-Acne-Treatment So one of the very common treatments for female acne are birth control pills. And the reason that birth control pills help is they help regulate the hormones. Sometimes what happens in women is the balance between estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and some of the other reproductive hormones gets out of whack. And what birth control pills basically do is they help bring the hormones back into balance. In addition, birth control pills will decrease the amount of testosterone that's stimulating the oil gland -- what we call the sebaceous gland -- in your skin. Birth control pills usually cause about a 30% to 60% reduction in acne. But of course it depends on the person. And of course some birth control pills cause side effects that a lot of women do not want, like weight gain, mood swings, and lowered sex drive. But thankfully now there are many new birth control pills that work very well and avoid some of those major side effects. So the choice of birth control pill is actually very important, because there are some birth control pills, because of their progesterone component, that can actually cause acne. In addition, birth control like Mirena IUD can also cause acne, and in some people the Nuvaring causes acne as well. Remember, these things are very individual, so what applies to your friend may not apply to you.

The development of a pill to boost women's libido is one step closer after an American panel recommended the approval of the female equivalent of Viagra. A panel of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisers has voted in favour of recommending flibanserin, a daily pill nicknamed the “female Viagra”. The recommendation will be seen as a major coup for campaigners who have fought for women’s sex drives to receive the same level of medical attention as men’s. The decision will now be passed to the FDA itself, which will rule on whether the pill will be officially approved for public use later this year. http://telegraph.feedsportal.com/c/32726/f/564430/s/46fb26e7/sc/14/l/0L0Stelegraph0O0Cnews0Chealth0Cnews0C116561290CFemale0EViagra0Eto0Eboost0Ewomens0Elibido0Eone0Estep0Ecloser0Bhtml/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com
