Michael Samuelson at BIF-1 Vice President, Health and Wellness Services for Blue Cross Blue Shield Rhode Island, Samuelson's recognition of "wellness" redefines the boundaries of our current healthcare system. ABOUT MICHAEL SAMUELSON Michael Samuelson is the President & CEO of The Health & Wellness Institute, a health management solutions company focused on improving quality of life at three levels—individual, community and worksite. An advocate for the integration of prevention into every consumer touch point, Samuelson travels the US to help facilitate a dialogue on the difficult challenges and potential solutions for the healthcare industry. An educator at heart and by trade, Samuelson is also one of few men to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Told he'd never regain full use of his arm following a radical mastectomy, Samuelson asked his doctor if he could climb a mountain and was told that while it was possible, the chances for success were slim. Samuelson responded by trekking across a glacier and climbing 18,000 feet to the base camp of Mt. Everest and the Kumba Ice Falls. He is also the author of Voices From the Edge: Life Lessons From the Cancer Community. RECORDED LIVE BIF-1 Summit

A local resident is pedaling her way from coast to coast in an effort to fund cancer research as well as support services for affected families. Grace Deetjen is one of 20 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign students biking from New York City to San Francisco this summer as part of the Illini 4000. The not-for-profit started in 2006 to raise money and awareness for cancer through annual cross-country cycling trips. Last year when Deetjen was a freshman, her mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, giving the Naperville North graduate a personal reason to join this year's ride. While preparing for the journey, Deetjen raised more than $5,400, and the whole team's total has reached more than $82,000. "I'm really proud of it but I'm also extraordinarily grateful. I've been blessed by so many people who have contributed to my cause, a lot of family and friends who've donated," said Deetjen. You can follow the group's progress as they battle cancer on two wheels over the next 10 weeks by checking out www.illini4000.org. And, stay tuned to NCTV17 for an update to the story when we check in with Deetjen at a later date.

On our roadtrip back from Colorado, we visit our friend Alecia and her household zoo: dogs, cats, chickens -- oh my! She tells us how she manages her urban chicken farm in St Louis, Missouri. We learn about the best chicken breeds for urban farming: Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, Barred Rocks, and Isa Browns. They all have great temperaments and all of these chickens will produce about 200 eggs a year! We discuss our thoughts on why raising chickens has become so popular lately. Should we get a chicken!? Unfortunately, we feel our lifestyle is just not conducive to taking care of chickens. 🐔 DAILY VLOG Episode 0299 Please like the video and subscribe to our channel to watch our daily vlogs! :) --- Get money off AirBNB travel: https://goo.gl/gqYhy6 --- • --- MUSIC CREDITS --- • --- Music by: https://theartistunion.com/naturalbodyartist --- • --- SUPPORT OUR CHANNEL --- • --- https://www.patreon.com/wearegoingsomewhere http://wearegoingsomewhere.com/help-us-fight-blonnies-breastcancer/ --- • --- FOLLOW US --- • --- INSTAGRAM: @wearegoingsomewhere FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/GoingSomewhere/ OUR WEB PORTAL: http://wags.life --- • --- GEAR USED FOR VLOGGING --- • --- DJI Phantom 4 http://goo.gl/cWXOHO Panasonic GH4 camera: https://goo.gl/4j0EBq + Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 lens: https://goo.gl/9XMWBk + microphone http://goo.gl/vmrwa7 + JOBY gorilla tripod: https://goo.gl/kwHcvm GoPRo HERO5: https://goo.gl/zM228d +charger with 2 batteries: https://goo.gl/5hgwI8 HERO5 Session: https://goo.gl/xYK1Ho

There are only two religions in the world, Mystery Babylon and Christianity, and those of the Mystery Schools believe that Christianity is a perversion of their true religion and seek to destroy it. As the program progresses you will plainly see that Satan has carefully and deceitfully crafted a Pagan Religion of the Dying and Rising god that counterfeits the Religion of Christ BEFORE the advent of Christ, for Satan was not unaware of the prophecy of the coming Son of Man first prophesied in the Garden of Eden. #30: Mystery Babylon 2: Sun of God 53:04 Bill explores the Sun god of ancient times and paganism. #31: Mystery Babylon 3: Egyptian Magic 1:42:24 This is Part 3 in a series of live broadcasts by William Cooper on the Hour of the Time shortwave radio program on Mystery Babylon. For the past 15 years, the Center for American Progress has served as a creative engine for introducing bold solutions that advance progressive values on nearly every possible front. In the past year alone, we have defended the Affordable Care Act; outlined policies to create workplaces that support women and families; discussed the impact of race across a wide range of issue areas; and helped drive opposition to President Donald Trump’s tax plan. At CAP, we believe that ideas are the heart of all progressive change, but we also know that ideas aren’t enough. It takes grassroots advocacy and real leadership supporting those ideas to create true progressive change. As we celebrate our 15th year of big ideas, CAP is bringing together elected officials, policy experts, cultural influencers, and grassroots activists at the 2018 CAP Ideas Conference, where we will explore and unveil new ideas that can make America a place for every single one of us to thrive. Taking on the Opioid Crisis: Aligning Federal, State, and Local Responses According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of overdose deaths involving opioids has quadrupled since 1999. More than six out of ten drug overdose deaths involve an opioid and more than 91 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose. This show features federal, state and local programs that are effectively addressing the opioid epidemic, such as SAMHSA’s State Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis Grants that aim to increase access to treatment, reduce unmet treatment needs, and reduce opioid overdose related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment, overdose rescue (narcan) and recovery activities for opioid use disorder. Panelists include policymakers across the country who have succeeded in implementing creative strategies to tackle this widespread problem and can speak about the critical next steps our communities can take.

This session of Grand Rounds explored opportunities for optimal quality of life for individuals with disabilities. One in 6 adult Americans lives with a disability when defined by a limitation in function. Many are at higher risk for multiple chronic conditions, injuries, and increased vulnerability during disasters. Comparatively, people with disabilities are 4 times more likely to report their health to be fair/poor and 2.5 times more likely to have unmet health care needs than non-disabled peers. $400 billion is spent annually on disability-related health expenditures. Public health can help change this by promoting wellness and preventing disease in people with disabilities. CDC's approach for a population who experiences diverse functional limitations is to assure that mainstream public health surveys, programs, and policies include people with disabilities across the lifespan, a method that can be modeled by state and federal programs. This powerful session of Grand Rounds explored public health opportunities for disease prevention, intervention and improvement to enable people to live well with functional limitations. It also highlighted accomplishments of partners and public health agencies in creating and modifying health programs to accommodate people with disabilities. Comments on this video are allowed in accordance with our comment policy: http://www.cdc.gov/SocialMedia/Tools/CommentPolicy.html This video can also be viewed at http://www.cdc.gov/about/grand-rounds/archives/2012/download/18-Dec/GR_12-18-2012.wmv
