Book For Hope - Childhood Cancer Documentary Film - Kendall James and Daniel Mathis Our Client - bookforhope.org Film Production - A&SG Film and Sound Makers We spent the past couple years filming with our friend Gaylon Hayden, of Book For Hope Incorporated focusing on children struggling in a fight against cancer. We've been gathering their personal accounts, words, and experiences for a feature-length project currently in progress. While filming, we often ask the children to speak to others like themselves and share their outlook on defeating the illness they face. Over time their stories will be compiled into a larger message to families facing childhood cancer, and a message to those at any stage of the battle: "There is life after cancer". This film focuses on two special children, Daniel Matthis and Kendall James. After facing cancer diagnosis herself 10 years ago, our friend Gaylon Hayden has dedicated her organization, Book For Hope, to sponsoring families in need while seeking treatment as well as donating funds towards childhood cancer research. This video is intended to extend hope to anyone facing cancer as well as spread awareness on how to become involved in helping those who need more support. A Kentucky Documentary Film Production Sequences also filmed in Nashville TN

Get the book here ➜ http://everyday-excursions.com/books/ About this video: Childhood cancer is not a diagnosis that anyone expects to hear. This is my dear friend Allie Grace English. She is an author and she recently released her book called, "Jacob's Journey." In this video, we are going to explore what it is like to for your earliest memories to be shaped by your brother's diagnosis. We'll learn how Allie is using her experiences to encourage other people through her book. Tell us about your book and why you wrote it. Who do you envision reading this book? How did you come up with the title: Jacob's Journey? What is the main thing you want readers to take away from Jacob's Journey? Did you outline Jacob's Journey ahead of time, or are you more of a by-the-seat-of-your-pants writer? What has been one of your most rewarding experiences as an author? What's next? Speaking? Encouraging families? More writing?

The Nurture Room (Child Psychology Documentary) - Real Stories

01:29:35
Check out our new website for more incredible documentaries: HD and ad-free. https://goo.gl/LwMcmY Filmed over a period of one year, The Nurture Room accesses three schools (three of only five schools in the whole of the UK that agreed to participate in the film), and follows a handful of children as they go on their journey back to full participation in the classroom via the ‘nurture room’. This film provides an insight into the lives of troubled children within schools. The Nurture Room covers a new approach to helping children with Additional Support Needs in the form of social, emtional and/or behavioural needs which are acting as barriers to the children's learning. The Nurture Room is a place within the school where children can be given freedom to express themselves. The aim is to effectively address the children's needs and prevent exclusion from the classroom and any distress caused by them not having the coping skills, through no fault of their own. Primarily, these rooms hope to ensure that as few children as possible are excluded from school due to bad behaviour. By taking a proactive approach, these rooms within schools ‘nurture’ children to give them the best possible chance of coping within a mainstream classroom setting alongside their peers. More information about Childhood Cancer Portraits the book at http://childhoodcancerportraits.com ATLANTA -- Photographer Peter Doyle is the parent of a healthy 3-year-old boy. Sitting in the cancer wing of a pediatric hospital for business, he had an epiphany as he watched the families make their way past him. "(They) were just like my own little family. At least they had been like mine until they were suddenly engulfed with the stress and fear that comes with hearing your child's cancer diagnosis. My wife and I have a bright-eyed, curious, three-year-old son. Feeling that momentary panic of what would we do if our world was ever thrown topsy-turvy by similar tidings, I asked myself where we would find support and encouragement? The answer came swiftly: Who better to extend a helpful word of hope than these very families surrounding me? The journey of photographing 101 childhood cancer warriors and survivors leading me across America began that very night." Doyle began a journey around America, photographing children with cancer and having them write about their own stories. Childhood Cancer Portraits is a collection of 101 portraits and handwritten notes of hope, wisdom and encouragement from children with cancer. Twenty-two of the children featured in Doyle's just released book are from Atlanta. Up to 50% of the profits from the book will go to childhood cancer non profits and the families of the children featured in the book, to help pay for medical expenses. Dunwoody's Chip Madren, a 16-year-old boy 11Alive has been following for three years, is in the book. His letter simply says 'Cancer has made me feel closer to God.'

Childhood trauma isn’t something you just get over as you grow up. Pediatrician Nadine Burke Harris explains that the repeated stress of abuse, neglect and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain. This unfolds across a lifetime, to the point where those who’ve experienced high levels of trauma are at triple the risk for heart disease and lung cancer. An impassioned plea for pediatric medicine to confront the prevention and treatment of trauma, head-on. Wings of Courage - A book for children and families adjusting to a cancer diagnosis

03:06
Leah’s heart is always happy. But having a brain tumor has also taught Leah to be strong and brave. She knows what it’s like to need lots of courage. So when her butterfly at school seems afraid to fly away, she shares the story of how she finds courage when she is scared. It’s just what her butterfly needs to spread its wings and take flight for the journey ahead. Based on the courageous life of Leah Elisabeth James, “Wings of Courage” is dedicated to all children fighting cancer. Leah’s cheerful presence and beaming smile radiated to those around her. Although this book is fiction and not exactly Leah’s story, it is inspired by her kind spirit, love for books, and attraction to bold beautiful colors. Even during treatment for her brain tumor, Leah had a unique way of expressing her joy by saying, “My heart is happy.” “Wings of Courage” was created by the University of Michigan Department of Neurosurgery and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital to help all pediatric cancer patients to remain hopeful, and that they, like Leah, will have a happy heart while reading this wonderful story. Mandela's granddaughter launches book on her battle with drug addiction and cancer

03:30
Nelson Mandela's granddaughter launched a book about her battle with drug addiction and cancer on Monday. Mandela's extended family are often in the public eye - their trials and successes aired for public scrutiny for decades in South Africa through books, films and the media. This year alone Mandela's ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela released a book, his granddaughters starred in a reality TV series and a film based on his book "Long Walk to Freedom" has been released. And now, it is the turn of the 95-year-old former statesman's granddaughter, Zoleka Mandela. The 33-year-old released her book "When Hope Whispers," which recounts her struggles with alcohol, drug and sex addictions, losing two of her children and fighting breast cancer. "I've had these challenges in my life, these unbearable circumstances that have happened in my life and that I'm using my own life experience to help somebody else that is struggling on their journey," said Zoleka on Tuesday. The book, she said, started as a look at her struggles with chemotherapy, which makes up more than half of the book. But she said she was asked by her publisher to give more history. Zoleka also recounts tales from her childhood, describing life as a member of the Mandela family. "In my regard, being who I am, there is a social responsibility. There's a social responsibility and I can't run away from that. And instead, I feel I embrace it," Zoleka said. "One of the things I learned so much about my grandparents is that you always have the power in you to make a difference in somebody else's life, despite your own challenges," she added. If you provide us with 20€ each, we can either organise activities for one child or book a session with a psychological specialist. we have decided to care about this issue and to help these children. Such a beautiful day The sun’s shining in a beautiful way gonna take a shower, brush my teeth and Life is ultimately meaningless ....Uhh (cough)... but I'll get out of the house Get on the road, top down, hands out Put on my favorite song and nod to the rhythm The planet’s being destroyed by your carbon emissions But I- I- , I’ll head to class try my best on every test til I pass and my grades are screaming in my face - Ayyyy 98 percent of what you learn is a waste. I get to hang out with all my friends My friends are the friendliest friends Can't think of a better way to spend my time Your brain is flawed and all your friends will die Nevermind! I’m alive in the greatest nation! So proud of- the exploitation of natives This graceful bird means freedom for all Tell that to the slaves and bald eagles aren't even bald I can live in the moment, milk every second at any time you could get clinical depression But I'll just be happy, no matter what’s in store it’s quite genetic and we have no cure uhh- at least (CHORUS ) We are young not for long Life is fun It only goes downhill We gotta make the most of it, Make the most of it or you'll regret it We are young For now Life is fun for some people We gotta make the most of it, Make the most of it Good luck Woo! I got a brand new job today! Doin stuff that'll help the economy I'll save money and buy things at the store Banks can crash and capitalism is flawed And it’s all because of my hard work And the thousand advantages you lucked into at birth I put a lotta effort in my resume! Good thing you don't have a black person’s name I'm proud to be a functioning member of society Finally, I can be the citizen I dream to be part of the community, contribute with my tax What could possibly stop me? The shrinking middle class I’ve at least got a nice stable job Until it’s outsourced to china or replaced by a robot OH GOD- Well then I could relax a bit You'll be empty with nothing to distract from it But man I'm a passionate graduate I can be different and I have a career paths to pick from I could be a rapper or an animator if I'm lucky Neither of those will make you happy, trust me I'm able to choose what I pursue You're a slave to people born richer than you Then screw it, I'll keep going in then I'll party on the weekend and sing Thanks to autotune (CHORUS ) Life is a wonder you’ll never know the answer Nature is a miracle natural disasters It’s good to be alive you could wake up with cancer But I'm healthy healthy people still get cancer I love this show it’s the last episode The sun is shining it’s going to explode Every species is beautiful and unique though Children have malaria thanks to mosquitoes I met a cute girl with a ponytail Statistically that relationship is going to fail I have a wonderful family, it’s like no other You're not special and one day you'll bury your mother No matter what happens I can find a home! We. Will. All. Die. Alone. There’s amazing potential in every human on earth There’s no escaping the heat death of the universe I don't have to live life based on negative parts No matter how bad they are, they're just thoughts Yeah that’s fair wait really? yeah that seems reasonable wait-wait-wait-wait but you were just telling me whatever man, I dunno, live your life how you want, I'm not forcing you to do anything, I'm just saying. Oh...Well in that case... (CHORUS )

Cancer, Fun, Kids and THE BOOK ~ www.gofundme.com/tarasvoice

Over the years people watched us fight cancer with fun. They followed our facebook group “Fighting Jersey Style” a friend made for us (I was a Jersey girl living in Colorado with my cancer kid). They watched me, a single mom, find everything I could to be grateful about (even if it was just grateful the day was over and tomorrow was a new day). The response was overwhelming - 6,000 views on stories I would share on a little blog a friend put up for me. 1,000 people sharing her facebook page with weekly posts and updates. And this was in 2008 before social media really hit hard. Now I have an opportunity to share what I did with other families and medical professionals. To share our ups, downs, laughter and tears. To give parents hope (yes there is life after cancer) and tools (how to make medical fun!) and to remind everyone (yes non cancer moms and dads) to be grateful every day and hug your kids a little tighter tonight. Books about cancer for children http://www.juliacookonline.com/books/personal-care/the-can-in-cancer2/ "Mom, why am I sick? Did I do something bad? Why did this happen to me?" These are questions that can seem impossible to answer, especially when it is a child that is sick. But there is hope and there is always a "Can" in cancer. #403: Curing Childhood Cancer One Lemonade Stand at a Time [Jay Scott]

16:46
In this episode of the Vegetable Gardening show, Mike chats with Jay Scott, father Alex Scott who, while battling her childhood cancer, raised over a million dollars by setting up a lemonade stand. Sadly, Alex lost her battle with childhood cancer, but her work goes on through the ALSF, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, overseen by Jay and his wife Liz. Today, the ALSF has raised millions of dollars to fund childhood cancer research and help families and children that are going through the battle right now. Jay is going to tell us about the ALSF journey from beginning to where it is now, who they have been helping and the stories from a couple of families that have benefited from the work that Alex started many years ago. This and so much more on this episode of The Vegetable Gardening Show! WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ✅ Alex's battle ✅ ALSF's Mission ✅ The impact ALSF is making in the lives of children and their families ✅ Where the money the ALSF raises goes to ✅ Childhood cancer research ✅ How you can help the ALSF LINKS ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ ✅ Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (https://www.alexslemonade.org/) ABOUT ALEX'S LEMONADE STAND ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a national childhood cancer foundation dedicated to raising funds for research into new treatments and cures for all children battling cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) shares the vision of our founder and creator, Alexandra “Alex” Scott — a cure for all children with cancer. When Alex, who was diagnosed with childhood cancer just before her first birthday, was four, she told her parents she wanted to set up a front-yard lemonade stand. Her plan: to give the money to doctors to help them find a cure. Her first “Alex’s Lemonade Stand”, held with the help of her older brother Patrick, raised an astonishing $2,000 in one day. While bravely fighting her own cancer, Alex continued to set up lemonade stands every year. As news spread of the remarkable girl so dedicated to helping other sick children, people everywhere were inspired to start their own lemonade stands—donating the proceeds to her cause. In 2004 when Alex passed away at the age of eight—her stand and inspiration had raised more than $1 million towards finding a cure for the disease that took her life. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started by her parents in 2005 to continue the work that Alex began. Our mission is simple: to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families, and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is the living embodiment of Alex’s spirit of determination and hope. Like Alex, we believe that every person can make a difference. Together, we can bring about a cure. Please join us in “making lemons into lemonade” today!
