Book For Hope - Childhood Cancer Documentary Film - Kendall James and Daniel Mathis Our Client - bookforhope.org Film Production - A&SG Film and Sound Makers We spent the past couple years filming with our friend Gaylon Hayden, of Book For Hope Incorporated focusing on children struggling in a fight against cancer. We've been gathering their personal accounts, words, and experiences for a feature-length project currently in progress. While filming, we often ask the children to speak to others like themselves and share their outlook on defeating the illness they face. Over time their stories will be compiled into a larger message to families facing childhood cancer, and a message to those at any stage of the battle: "There is life after cancer". This film focuses on two special children, Daniel Matthis and Kendall James. After facing cancer diagnosis herself 10 years ago, our friend Gaylon Hayden has dedicated her organization, Book For Hope, to sponsoring families in need while seeking treatment as well as donating funds towards childhood cancer research. This video is intended to extend hope to anyone facing cancer as well as spread awareness on how to become involved in helping those who need more support. A Kentucky Documentary Film Production Sequences also filmed in Nashville TN

How childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime | Nadine Burke Harris

16:03
Childhood trauma isn’t something you just get over as you grow up. Pediatrician Nadine Burke Harris explains that the repeated stress of abuse, neglect and parents struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues has real, tangible effects on the development of the brain. This unfolds across a lifetime, to the point where those who’ve experienced high levels of trauma are at triple the risk for heart disease and lung cancer. An impassioned plea for pediatric medicine to confront the prevention and treatment of trauma, head-on. The Nurture Room (Child Psychology Documentary) - Real Stories

01:29:35
Check out our new website for more incredible documentaries: HD and ad-free. https://goo.gl/LwMcmY Filmed over a period of one year, The Nurture Room accesses three schools (three of only five schools in the whole of the UK that agreed to participate in the film), and follows a handful of children as they go on their journey back to full participation in the classroom via the ‘nurture room’. This film provides an insight into the lives of troubled children within schools. The Nurture Room covers a new approach to helping children with Additional Support Needs in the form of social, emtional and/or behavioural needs which are acting as barriers to the children's learning. The Nurture Room is a place within the school where children can be given freedom to express themselves. The aim is to effectively address the children's needs and prevent exclusion from the classroom and any distress caused by them not having the coping skills, through no fault of their own. Primarily, these rooms hope to ensure that as few children as possible are excluded from school due to bad behaviour. By taking a proactive approach, these rooms within schools ‘nurture’ children to give them the best possible chance of coping within a mainstream classroom setting alongside their peers. 11 Alive Moments Atlanta Features Book Childhood Cancer Portraits

More information about Childhood Cancer Portraits the book at http://childhoodcancerportraits.com ATLANTA -- Photographer Peter Doyle is the parent of a healthy 3-year-old boy. Sitting in the cancer wing of a pediatric hospital for business, he had an epiphany as he watched the families make their way past him. "(They) were just like my own little family. At least they had been like mine until they were suddenly engulfed with the stress and fear that comes with hearing your child's cancer diagnosis. My wife and I have a bright-eyed, curious, three-year-old son. Feeling that momentary panic of what would we do if our world was ever thrown topsy-turvy by similar tidings, I asked myself where we would find support and encouragement? The answer came swiftly: Who better to extend a helpful word of hope than these very families surrounding me? The journey of photographing 101 childhood cancer warriors and survivors leading me across America began that very night." Doyle began a journey around America, photographing children with cancer and having them write about their own stories. Childhood Cancer Portraits is a collection of 101 portraits and handwritten notes of hope, wisdom and encouragement from children with cancer. Twenty-two of the children featured in Doyle's just released book are from Atlanta. Up to 50% of the profits from the book will go to childhood cancer non profits and the families of the children featured in the book, to help pay for medical expenses. Dunwoody's Chip Madren, a 16-year-old boy 11Alive has been following for three years, is in the book. His letter simply says 'Cancer has made me feel closer to God.'

https://www.generosity.com/volunteer-fundraising/aspanion-children-with-cancer Childhood cancer is a fact; a reality. A child with cancer particularly affects their family, as well as their social environment. If you provide us with 20€ each, we can either organise activities for one child or book a session with a psychological specialist. we have decided to care about this issue and to help these children. The more money we raise, the more children with cancer we can help. The money will go to an association called Aspanion.

Bootsie Books - The Rugby Club

04:36
Fox Sports Australia - The Rugby Club interview of author and father Mike James and his brave son Connor whose battle with childhood cancer is the inspiration for a series of children's rugby union books. As Mike said "The idea of 'Bootsie' came to me as I slept by my own son's bedside whilst he was being treated for childhood brain cancer. Connor was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in April 2007 aged 7. He underwent extensive radiation and chemotherapy after surgery to remove the tumour. During the time I sat next to his hospital bed and while we looked after him at home the ideas and books themselves flowed out of me and onto paper. The bravery Connor showed is the inspiration for the character". Other Bootsie YouTube videos at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Qc8UmIo5FE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYJbCfuMZzI
