YOGA TO HEAL YOUR HEART :: Pink Lotus Foundation + Breast Cancer Awareness Month
How you can be involved in this #savinglives actions? https://goo.gl/9Cw15h By making a donation, volunteering your time, or being an ambassador of #savinglives and spread the word to underprivileged groups and communities. The most unique and epic breast cancer charity fundraiser - ever ! Social advocate and Ironman triathlete Andy Funk rides his bike 365 miles (587 km) nonstop, alone, unsupported and unassisted from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, through the grueling desert, to support and raise funds for low income, uninsured and underserved women in need of breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and support. https://goo.gl/OiTpB8 How does the Pink Lotus Foundation help saving lives? By enabling underprivileged and low-income women to receive free care (screening, diagnosis, and breast related illnesses treatment). Billions of dollars have been invested by nonprofit and for-profit organizations to find the cure to breast cancer. While we support every one of these critical efforts, it is unclear if and when the cure may ever be found. Helpless women without insurance or sufficient coverage face lack of care, delayed care, uncertainty, and sadly, death from breast cancer on a daily basis. Be a Breast Friend | AVON Breast Cancer Crusade
http://avon4.me/1LDcF4W Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women have unveiled a powerful new call to action for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2015: #BeABreastFriend. Use this hashtag to remind your friends to check themselves and talk to their doctors about breast health. #BeABreastFriend is the latest step in the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, which raises funds and awareness for critical research and access to care programs. #BeABreastFriend calls on women to make their best friends’ breast health their priority, encourages women to make a promise to their friends to discuss breast health openly, and reminds women of the need for screenings and doctor visits, as early detection of breast cancer dramatically increases survival rates. Women talk about everything with their best friends - everything, except the topic of breast health. It's time for us to step up and encourage our 'breast friends' to know their risks, know their bodies, and talk to their doctors. This video shines the spotlight on the #BeABreastFriend hashtag by capturing real, unedited conversations by women with their best friends. While the subject may seem awkward at first, women typically appreciate the comfort, support and encouragement from close family and friends after discussing breast cancer. Share this video on social media and tag your “breast friends” using #BeABreastFriend Want more information and education about breast cancer and breast health? Visit http://allforthebreast.org/

Empowering & Educating to Prevent Breast Cancer
https://www.thegrommet.com/keep-a-breast-foundation The Keep A Breast Foundation uses multiple digital and artistic approaches to educate and support a younger audience—who often aren’t specifically targeted by breast cancer charities. This charity meets millennials and Gen Z on their own turf, at music festivals and art events worldwide. Interactive displays, educational materials, and an approachable style help them engage women and men, and they learn more about their bodies and how to take care of them. Every October, their #CheckYourSelfie campaign encourages people to take a selfie with three fingers to their breast, symbolizing their commitment to self-check. And to give step-by-step instructions on the self-check and make it a routine, there’s a companion Check Your Selfie app. And to help people make smarter choices in their daily lives, the charity’s Non Toxic Revolution offers extensive info on risks (from fast food to household chemicals) that have been connected to breast cancer. Their artistic approach is grounded in their Treasured Chest program, which gives women diagnosed with breast cancer the opportunity to confront the physical and emotional trauma of their diagnosis with a cast of their torso. These plaster forms are turned into expressive works of art and make their way into homes, galleries, and private collections starting conversations, building awareness, and empowering women worldwide.

Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser - Breast Cancer Research Foundation
Performance Diesel Inc. continues to raise support for breast cancer awareness through a fundraiser drawing for a rebuilt 2001 Peterbilt 379. The completed truck is anticipated to be worth $80,000. This fundraiser will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF). The BCRF was founded in 1993 as an independent, not-for-profit organization. The mission of the BCRF is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increase public awareness about good breast health. BCRF-funded research has helped save lives and significantly improved the quality of care and survivorship for tens of thousands of breast cancer patients in the past decade and a half. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death due to cancer. The American Cancer Society's most recent estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2012 show that the chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is a little less than 1 in 8. Please help PDI support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and donate today. Fundraiser tickets are available for sale at $10 each. Or additional tickets can be purchased at a discounted rate of three for $25, seven for $50, or 16 for $100. To purchase charity tickets call 800-511-1231 or visit us online at www.pdidiesel.com.

Paula Abdul | Check Yourself | Avon Breast Cancer Crusade
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Avon Foundation for Women launches a powerful new call to action - #CheckYourself - featuring the release of this exciting new music video created with and led by acclaimed singer, songwriter and chorographer Paula Abdul. #CheckYourself aims to cut to cut through the confusion related to screening strategies and encourages women to take control of their own breast health with three simple steps: Know Your Risks. Know Your Body. Talk To Your Doctor. #CheckYourself is the latest step in the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, which raises funds and awareness for critical research and access to care programs. The key to prevention is knowing how to protect yourself, and early detection remains incredibly important. Women should be aware of their family’s health history, perform routine self-exams and visit a doctor annually. Women over 40 should have a mammogram performed by their doctor. “Singing and dancing are my passions. I am thrilled and inspired to have had the opportunity to apply these passions to create a new music video in support of the breast cancer awareness cause, and the new global #CheckYourself for Breast Cancer campaign is very personal for me,” said Paula Abdul, acclaimed singer, songwriter, choreographer, and Avon Global Ambassador. “My sister Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. As a breast cancer survivor and champion for the cause, she inspires me every day. My hope is that this new video will inspire women and men to take charge of their own breast health through screening, detection, and treatment.” To learn more about Avon’s Breast Cancer Crusade and #CheckYourself, and how you can protect yourself, visit the link above. The Avon Foundation for Women gives special thanks to Paula Abdul for her generous support of this project. Our hair is an important aspect of our culture, and for many reasons. So much so that we spend millions, if not billions, every year collectively to obtain "healthy hair". However, many fail to realize that healthy hair is also a huge component of the health of our bodies. In order to decrease the risk of potential health problems, we must take care of the full self, and not just a portion. While celebrating healthy bodies and hair, our events and foundation will shed light on the fact that thousands of women/men die every year in the African American race; many of whom cannot afford cancer treatments and/or are diagnosed too late at an aggressive level. The long term goal is to open our doors Oct. 1, 2013 to begin funding African American women & men the opportunity to receive cancer treatments who cannot afford it and provide the utmost support needed. Through partnerships with different hair product-based companies, we will be able to make this dream a reality and save lives. Song: Set Fire to the Rain by Adele NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED. Here is her video explaining her mission this month: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kID9tVOYQl8 Donation Link: https://www.crowdrise.com/thepaintedlipsproject/fundraiser/shanamoore BENEFITING: PINK FUND INC (http://thepinkfund.org/) "A breast cancer diagnosis can destroy the financial health and well-being of the patient and their family. While in active treatment, many patients are unable to work and experience a loss of income that can result in catastrophic financial losses and the need to rebuild financial health. The Pink Fund provides financial support to help meet basic needs, decrease stress levels and allow breast cancer patients to focus on healing while improving survivorship outcomes... Did you know that: 51% of Americans have less than a $1000 in savings! 50% of bankruptcies are the result of illness or illness related job loss! In 6 months, a health crisis can throw a family into bankruptcy or homelessness! 47% of our national workforce is women, 73% of women work full time and 26% claim head of household! 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime! A Conversation About Breast Cancer - by Thomas J. Lomis, M.D. and Valley Breast Cancer Foundation
The Valley Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit arm of Valley Breast Care and Womens Health Center. The mission of the center is to stop the premature and preventable deaths of women from breast cancer. Through the charitable arm of the Valley Breast Cancer Foundation the center seeks to provide access to breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment for underinsured and uninsured women. Located on the campus of Valley Presbyterian Hospital, in the San Fernando Valley, Valley Breast Care offers mammograms, whole breast ultrasound scans, breast biopsies and breast cancer treatment with support services to women seeking care. The center was founded in 2005 and has provided such services to many thousand women in the last six years. In addition to breast cancer screening and diagnostic services the center also facilitates access to surgical oncology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology services. Pre and post treatment supports services which include positive image counseling and social support services are also available. Unfortunately, cuts in health care reimbursements and loss of health care coverage related to the recent decline in the economy has contributed to a delay in diagnosis and a lack of timely treatment for many women afflicted with breast cancer. Please see the below link to a recent Daily News article which illustrates one unfortunate case. In recent years breast centers attempting to provide services to underserved populations have struggled to remain financially viable and many have subsequently closed their doors, for example see the attached article, "L.A. cancer screening center closes doors". Through your support you can personally have an impact in the fight to prevent the suffering and premature deaths associated with this all too prevalent disease. Contributions may be made to the Valley Breast Cancer Foundation via its parent non-profit (SEE) by following the instructions provided below. On behalf of Valley Breast Care and the women we serve we thank you for your support. Please do make a tax deductible conation, large or small, to enable Valley Breast Care to stop the premature and preventable deaths of women from breast cancer. All contributions over $50 will receive a letter for tax purposes. To contribute, you can either: Send a check payable to SEE with notation "Valley Breast Cancer Foundation" and mail to 23532 Calabasas Rd, Suite A, Calabasas, CA 91302 Donate online: http://www.valleybreastcare.org/valleybreastcancerfoundation.html
