Type 2 diabetes was once known as "adult onset" because it was so rare in kids. But not anymore. With one in five school-age children considered obese, the rate of Type 2 diabetes in young people is climbing. The newest study shows an almost five percent jump over a decade for those between the ages of 10 and 19. Dr. Tara Narula joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss how the complications resulting from diabetes are happening earlier in life, and the importance of educating kids on the dangers of the disease. Some of them relate directly to the program, and some of them are a little bit more broad about diabetes? First question is, can children get type 2 diabetes? Unfortunately this is absolutely true now. We have 12.5 million kids in the US who are obese by the obesity definition. Approximately 23% of them are at risk to develop diabetes. Also unfortunately, many of them already have type 2 diabetes. So type 2 diabetes is no longer a disease of adults. It is a disease of children as well. Anyone who has family history should be very careful about that possibility. What is the likelihood of parents with type 2 diabetes ending up with children with type 2 diabetes? Hamdy: It is more likely. And some new statistics show that kids born in 2000, the American white population, the chances of them over their lifetimes to develop diabetes is one in three. In the Hispanic population, one in two. So you can imagine. And these are the populations that have shown significant weight gain as well. Sarah: So that’s another reason for parents to make changes in their diets so that, as you said, the healthier you are, the healthier it is all through the family. Exactly right. It is, you know, the entire family, entire environment.

http://goo.gl/QCJ9b0 - How to reverse diabetes! Turns out, the diabetes industry is selling us fake research! Hi! I'm robo-Suzie and today I'll talk to you about Signs of Diabetes in Children. Also don't forget to check out the link below, to find out, how this guy reversed his diabetes! Turns out, the diabetes industry is selling us fake research! But back to our topic. Have you ever looked at a child who is suffering from signs of diabetes? Can you judge that child is diabetic? Can you see signs of diabetes in children? I know the answer is no. On looking at the child one can never judge that person is suffering from diabetes. But the things which we cannot see are really bad! This chronic ailment increases the amount of blood sugar. The sugar in blood if remain elevated for a longer period of time then complications like kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, amputation and other nerve damages start to set in. The quality of the life of the child depends on the ability of the parents to recognize symptoms of child diabetes at their earliest. Unfortunately child diabetes has reached to epidemic proportions. It is predicted that incidence of this chronic and deadly disease will continue to rise. Unluckily it is hard to identify the signs of diabetes in children. Read the given list so you can better understand why these symptoms of child diabetes are not easily recognized. Signs of diabetes in children. Excessive Urination: The parents generally think that their child is drinking plenty of water Frequent Urination: The parents' often confuse and think their child is drinking a lot; so he is urinating more. Recurrent Infections: Generally parents consider that this is the part of childhood. Blurriness In Vision: The vision of the children gets blurry but they are unable to explain this to their parents. Sometimes even they are unable to feel that something is going on with their vision. Slow Healing Wounds and Cuts: Simply the parents think the injury was deeper one and it will take comparatively longer time to heal. Numbness and Tingling In Feet and Hand: Once again this symptom of child diabetes is ignored by the parents and children. Children are unable to explain the weird feeling in their extremities to their parents. Unexplained and Sudden Weight Loss: If the child was previously overweight then this symptom of child diabetes is welcomed by the parents otherwise the parents think the young one is going through the growth spurt. Mood Swing or Irritability: This is generally blamed as child and parent confrontation. Some parents of teenagers think that it is the integral art of teen years. It is also important here to keep in mind that all of these signs of diabetes in children may not be obvious at once. One or more symptoms of child diabetes are enough to take you to the doctor's office. That's it! Thank you. Please subscribe, comment and like this video if it was helpful! See you soon!

(1 Jun 2017) LEAD-IN: Lifestyle and dietary changes in India are causing a sharp increase of diabetes in children. Nearly 30 percent of India's teenagers are obese, almost twice the number than in 2010, according to health ministry statistics. STORYLINE: Fifteen-year-old Rohin Sarin is playing a virtual game of soccer on his Playstation 4 when he starts feeling light-headed, his blood sugar levels are dipping. He quickly removes his insulin pen from a refrigerator in his room and gives himself one of four daily jabs. "I've got my insulin pens," says the 9th grade student. "Because my body is not producing any insulin, my pancreas aren't producing any insulin. So I have to take a few insulin shots, three times a day, and sometimes before some small meals like a brunch or evening meal." Sarin is one of a growing number of Indian children with diabetes. "Sometimes, it affects me negatively," he says. Unlike other students on the school's cricket team, Rohin says he has to be extra careful and eat regularly to keep himself from fainting. More than two decades of rapid economic growth has changed Indians' lifestyles. People eat out more often, and prefer Western-style junk food over traditional lentil and vegetable meals. Gunjan Malhotra, Sarin's mother and a medical officer in the Indian Army, says she has banned junk food and sugary drinks in her house and ensures she goes for a run with Sarin every day. "Nowadays, the concept of having junk food and coke (cola), all that… I think that should not be given to the kids at all.And secondly, any kind of sports. It's not just for the kids, even for the parents. Any kind of sport will make you and keep you healthy. It is very important. Especially, if you start it young." The lifestyle changes have brought a sharp rise in obesity, along with diseases such as diabetes, even as India still has some of the world's worst levels of malnourishment. In bigger cities like New Delhi, parents are enrolling children for after school activities, as the concept of children voluntarily going out to play is being replaced by gadgets and couch surfing. Dr. Monica Arora, a specialist with the Public Health Foundation of India says: "There has been this epidemiological transition. With globalisation, we have got access to high-fat food and very unhealthy lifestyle. So, the way it is affecting adolescents and children particularly, in the Indian context, with this rapid urbanisation we are seeing more and more children now getting restricted to their household only." Nearly 30 percent of India's teenagers are obese, nearly twice the number in 2010, according to health ministry statistics. India has 70 million diabetics, though it has no data on how many are children. Health experts warn that India is on track to nearly double that to 120 million cases, or nearly 10 percent of the population, in the next eight years. That would put it on par with the United States, with 9.3 percent of the population diabetic, or China, where 11 percent, or 109 million, have been diagnosed, according to the International Diabetes Federation. Dr. Amit Jain, a paediatrician in New Delhi, says he has seen an increase in number of children with lifestyle diseases that walk into his clinic. "The amount of children who are getting into obesity is also increasing, and that is one of the major factors because of which they develop diabetes or related problems. And, another factor which is very important is the stress factor. In the age group of, let's say I will say from 14 to 18 years, they are subjected to different kinds of stress for example, examination stress or peer group pressure stress and related other things which have a compounding effect." Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY Dr. Berg talks about why children are getting diabetes at such an alarming rate. From 2000 to 2009, diabetes type 1 increased at 21%, and in type 2 increased 30%. This video is my opinion and meant to give the consumer new data to research and come up with their own conclusions about the cause and effect relationship between diabetes and it's cause. If someone tells you that this video is untrue and there is no possibility this could happen - simply ask them, "then causes diabetes 1 in children - why the sudden increase?" This is where it breaks down. They will tell you, we don't know. Then ask them, "then why are you so sure that there is no connection between vaccinations, GMO foods, etc. and diabetes - and see what they say. Click Here http://bit.ly/1o5ZWrF Treatment For Type 2 Diabetes In Children - Who Does Type 2 Diabetes in Children Affect? Make Sure To Check Out The Secret Presentation On The Link Above!! There are many difficulties for children and adolescents with type 2 diabetes. Having diabetes imposes certain restrictions that goes against the usual childhood experience. Treatments always have to be thought about and leaving the house always entails checking they have their insulin or their glucometer. For you, the parent, it is a constant concern for your child's health and treatment requirements. If your child is diagnosed with type 2, here are some important guidelines to consider: 1. What do you need to know: * It is important to have a full understanding of type 2 diabetes and to understand the rationale behind your child's treatment and medication. * Essentially it is a condition with no known cure which affects the body's metabolism * In type 1 diabetes, a defect in the immune system leads to destruction of the beta cells. This occurs suddenly and the pancreas stops producing insulin and insulin-injections are needed for survival * In type 2 diabetes however, insulin is produced by the body. There is not insulin-lack but rather the inability of the body to use it effectively. Blockage of its action is known as insulin-resistance. The body is forced to create much larger doses and with time, can cause pancreatic malfunction and other complications. 2. Psychological effects: After knowledge of the disease, the second important thing to remember is the affect type 2 diabetes has: * On the lifetime and psychology of the patient * Also on friends and family members who are involved and closely related to the diabetic In the early days following diagnosis many people often discount the social implications of diabetes. However, without proper mental preparation for all of the ways this condition will impact lives, it is possible for resentment to develop between the diabetic child and his siblings. Also, the psychological stress on you as parents is often great and can lead to feelings of self-blame. Once the emotional considerations are taken care of, either through counseling or group therapy, the next step is to acquaint yourself with the available treatment plans. 3. Treatments Most children with type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese at the time of diagnosis. Treatment often begins with weight control and proper nutrition. Don't single out your child with diabetes and make them eat different foods from the rest of the family. Encouraging the whole family to eat similar foods will benefit everyone. Research has shown that optimal control without medications is obtainable in less than ten per cent of adults. Some children are given metformin and have good results, others who are very ill at the time of diagnosis may need insulin-injections at first to reduce their high blood sugar levels. It is also essential to change your child's sedimentary lifestyle; this is necessary to speed up weight loss but it also increases insulin-sensitivity at the cellular level. Type 2 diabetes affects the whole family, don't single out your child with diabetes and treat them differently to everyone else. They will feel they are being punished. http://www.nutritionforest.com/blood-sugar-support.html http://www.nutritionforest.com Nutrition Forest Blood Sugar Support Made with an superb blend of herbs and nutrients, Blood Sugar Support is formulated to help the body maintain healthy blood sugar levels that are in the normal range. The key herbs include Cinnamon, Gymnema Sylvestre, Banaba, Bitter Melon, and Guggul. Also added are effective amounts of Chromium Picolinate, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. The recommended dose is one capsule three times daily with meals. While eating a sugary snack, fruit, and carbohydrates, it breaks down into glucose (blood sugar) that is important for energy in your cells. In order to get into that glucose into your cells, your body produces insulin that acts like the key unlocking the door. Excess glucose can lead to diabetes but excess insulin or insulin resistance is a problem too. Unfortunately, most people’s blood sugar is not properly balanced. If you’re getting too much glucose, it leads to high blood-sugar levels, which your body can’t break down and stores as fat. Ironically, not getting enough sugar can also lead to putting on extra pounds! Eating too little glucose can lead to a low blood sugar level, causing your body to go into “starvation mode” where it burns your lean muscle instead of the fat – a double whammy to your system and your diet. Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels in the normal range is not only critical for energy and mood, but also for cardiovascular, nervous system, and immune health . Since the typical diet is high in refined carbohydrates and sugars, it’s no wonder that such a high proportion of our population has blood sugar concerns. Hectic lifestyles, chronic stress , and genetic predispositions can also easily upset the delicate balance of physiological events that influence glucose and insulin levels. It is very important that blood sugar levels are kept as close to normal as possible. For most people with diabetes, a healthy range is between 90 and 130 mg/dl before meals and less than 180 mg/dl at one to two hours after a meal (see chart below). A doctor or health care provider can tell a person with diabetes about how and when to test blood sugar. It is helpful to keep a record of blood sugar readings several times during the day. diabetes type 2 diabetes diabetes symptoms symptoms of diabetes type 1 diabetes hypoglycemia glucose prediabetes diabetes mellitus low blood sugar blood sugar levels normal blood sugar low blood sugar symptoms hypoglycemia symptoms normal blood sugar level high blood sugar symptoms of low blood sugar glucose levels symptoms of high blood sugar blood glucose levels normal glucose levels high blood sugar symptoms glucose test glucometer how to lower blood sugar blood sugar chart juvenile diabetes symptoms of hypoglycemia fasting blood sugar blood sugar range what is normal blood sugar normal blood glucose levels diabetes test normal sugar level signs of low blood sugar normal blood sugar range blood sugar test what is hypoglycemia glucose meter high glucose levels blood sugar levels chart signs of high blood sugar causes of diabetes signs of hypoglycemia diabetes treatment normal fasting blood sugar continuous glucose monitoring blood glucose meters blood glucose sugar level lower blood sugar foods that lower blood sugar blood sugar monitor glucose level chart high glucose low blood sugar levels glucose monitor

This video is about diabetes in chldren. Diabetes in youngsters is growing around the world. Up to now it turned out mainly type-1 which affected a percentage of youngsters but now, as a result of spread of poor dietary habits, obesity and metabolic syndrome, the incidence of type-2 is on the rise. This was once regarded as an adult disease but is no longer considered rare amongst children and young adults. There is a third form of diabetes known as MODY which stands for maturity-onset diabetes in the young. This can be different from types 1 and 2 as it is a genetically carried condition. You can find things you can do to keep your child safe from the risk of diabetes. Here are some tips: Keep them active by setting limits on how long they watch television or play computer games. Find activities which involve exercise. Everyone in your house can get included in physical activities such as boating, cycling, bowling, pitch-and-put golf. Help it become fun making it regular. Make dietary changes. Get rid of snacking and introduce quite a lot of vegetables and salad on your meal table. Put out little pots of hummus with colourful strips of red and yellow peppers, crunchy carrot sticks and strips of celery to scoop up the hummus. Cook food in a little olive oil and avoid too much fat on meat. Rather than chips and processed food such as beef burgers, sausages and chicken nuggets, go for plain roast or fried chicken, home-made fish cakes or lentil and split pea dishes. One of the most worrying aspects is recognising the appearance of hyperglycemia. Regular monitoring will help you spot if your child has a pattern of high blood sugar at certain times of the day. You can then adjust the routine to make things more stable. It is hard for a parent to firmly insist on frequent blood testing because children will first resistant to having this done. Most youngsters like to feel the same as their peers; it is understandable that the rigours of managing diabetes may result in situations which cause them to have feelings of ‘difference.’ Give your child or teenager every opportunity to communicate their feeling to you. Bottled-up emotion can lead to depression so encourage them to talk it through. Be understanding; don’t come up with light of their worries. It's so vital that you let them see you acknowledge their feelings and also their pain. Fluctuating blood sugar can prevent the brain from dealing rationally with anger. For everyone who finds themselves struggling with a chronic medical problem there's always going to be a component of frustration.
