The spreadsheet is designed to allow delegation of task, for example by lawyers to a legal assistant. It allows creation of tasks which are put on a task list and reordering of tasks according to priority. Assistants then move the tasks to a "completed tasks" section of the spreadsheet as the tasks are completed. The spreadsheet should be saved as a shared workbook so it can be simultaneously accessed by many users on a network e.g. lawyers adding tasks and assistants completing them. Logging with Horses with Ralph Rice on his diversified small farm. Woodlot management plan is discussed including maple syrup production, firewood gathering, and using and selling wood for lumber. In this video we tour Ralph's horse barn and harness shop. We follow him while he harnesses his Percherons three-abreast for logging with the draft horses. He discusses his choice of nylon harness. Ralph uses his Amish made wood sled for gathering maple syrup and firewood gathering. He uses his logging arch when logging large trees in his woods. Ralph explains his the gathering and moving of parts of an ancient oak tree that fell in his woods. This immense tree is a multi year project for the draft horses and Ralph to clean up. Ralph is an expert teamster with his beloved Percherons. His finesse with the draft horse logging is amazing. Logging with draft horses is still being practiced by farmers all over the US. There are three terms that I would like to introduce here. First, lets see what Process Group is. The whole Project Management discipline is divided into five broad Process group, they are Project Initiation, Project Planning, Project Execution, Project Monitoring & Control and Project Closing. You probably, might be aware of them as well. When a new Project starts, its in the Project Initiation phase, from Initiation, it moves to Planning, than to Execution and Monitoring & Control and finally its closed. Project Execution and Project Monitoring & Control processes go hand in hand. So when a new project is started i.e., initiated, all processes of Project Initiation Process Group should be applied to the Project. Similarly when the project is being closed, all Processes of Project Closing group should be applied. Let me give you more specific example, Identify Risks is a Process of Project Planning group. So when the project is in planning phase, you must identify all the Risks of the project. Next. Lets see what is a Knowledge Area. As per PMBOK, There are 9 Knowledge areas. For example, Human Resource Management is one of the Knowledge areas. Knowledge area is a set of specific processes required to be performed to meet a project objective. A Knowledge area may have some processes to be done in Project Planning Process Group and some other processes to be done in Project Monitoring & Control Process Group. For example, if you take Human Resource Management Knowledge area, Develop Human Resource Plan is processes in Project Planning Group and another process Manage Project Team is in Project Execution group. Lastly there are 42 process areas; we have already come across two such Process areas. Develop Human Resource Plan and Manage Project Team. If you are totally confused by now. Dont worry. This is the whole exam syllabus and there is one lesson dedicated to each of these topics! For now, just remember that there are 5 process groups, 9 knowledge areas and 42 project management processes.

The information in this video is still up-to-date, though! Transcript Intro Hey, this is Brian from the Trello team. Today we are going to take a peek at the “Best App Ever” board that Misty River Software created to keep track of their new app. As you can see, this board is made up of lists that represent a workflow. Each list has cards on it. A card is a unit that represents a task, and can hold a variety information for that task. Adding cards I can create a new task for this board by adding a card and adding a title to it. Click the card to open up the card back so you can add more information to it. All aspects of the card can be edited on the card back. For instance, I can change the title of my card to make it a little more informative. I will also add a description to the card to provide more details on what this card is all about. Since this task has a few layers to it, i’ll add a checklist to the card to create sub tasks or steps. These are each represented as checklist items. Adding members & notifications I will then add a few members of my team to this card to assign them the task. Since Ben and Julie are fluent in these languages, I will add them. When board members are added to a card they will receive a notification both within Trello and by email. Due dates & labels Since we are on a deadline for this feature, I am going to add a due date to the card so that everyone knows this needs to get done before the beta version ships. Adding labels to your cards is a great way to add visual information for quick reference. Plus you can filter your board by label, which I will demonstrate later in this video. Comments to communicate with team members Commenting on cards is a convenient way to keep ideas and opinions on a task centrally located. @ mention a board member in a comment and they will receive a notification. Subscriptions Also, since I want to stay on top of the progress on this card, I am going to subscribe it. This way I will receive notifications for any actions that occur on the card. Oh, it looks like I forgot an important language for our localization feature. Better add it to the card! Moving cards between lists As a task progresses from start to finish, cards can be moved across lists by clicking and dragging them to a different list. Of course, not all lists have to be a part of a workflow, lists can act as repositories for ideas, documents & resources. Board Menu: Members Now we are going to take a look at the board menu. The members section of the board menu displays all of the board members. The members with the blue icon on their avatar are the board admins and they can set the permissions for the board. I can add new members to my board by clicking the add members button and then searching for them by either their username or email address. If I want to add someone to my board that is not a member of Trello, I can enter their email address and an invitation to sign up and join my board will be sent by email. Also, to make things easier, if your board is a part of an organization, organization members will be suggested as possible board members. It’s easy to add members to cards by dragging their avatar from the members section and dropping it on to a card. Board Menu: Activity feed Next, the activity feed for the board shows all of the actions that have occurred on the board. Board Menu: Settings Finally, the board’s menu is where you can find all of the board level settings and features. Board admins can set permissions for the board in “Additional Settings.” Most of these features are self explanatory, but I want to quickly go over some of more interesting and useful ones. Power-ups: Calendar, voting, card aging Power-ups are board-level features that you can enable to provide extra functionality on your board, such as a calendar view and voting. Stickers Stickers are a fun way to add visual information to a card, whether it is a status update for the card or just to add a little humor. Filtering cards on the boards As mentioned earlier, card filters allow you to focus on cards on a board by labels, members, due dates or keywords. Archiving cards and lists Instead of deleting cards and lists, they are archived so that they can easily be referenced or returned to your board at any point in the future. Don’t worry about filling your archive, it’s practically limitless! Create cards by email It’s also possible to create new cards by email. Each board member has a unique email address associated with their board that will let them create new cards on that board.

In this video, you’ll learn how to upload website files to your hosting account using the cPanel File Manager. With your GoDaddy Hosting account set up, you’re now ready to upload your website files. On your account page, to the right of Web Hosting, click Manage. On the Hosting Accounts page, locate the domain that you’re uploading website files for and click Manage. In the cPanel dashboard, under Files, click File Manager. In the File Manager Directory Selection dialog box, the Web Root directory is selected by default. cPanel uses the public html folder as the web root directory for your primary domain name's website. The files you put in the web root directory are what load when visitors access your domain name in a Web browser. To access the file manager for this directory, click Go. The File Manager in cPanel allows you to upload only one file at a time. If you need to upload several files at once, for example your whole website, we recommend that you use a File Transfer Protocol, or FTP client. Alternately, you can put all of your website’s files into a single compressed file, referred to as a .zip file. You can then upload the zip file and extract its contents inside the File Manager root directory. Let’s continue using the cPanel File Manager and upload the website’s files using a zip file. Once you’ve zipped up your website’s files, in the cPanel File Manager, select the public html folder. Click Choose File and browse to locate the zip file on your computer. Select the file and click Open. A dialog displaying the status of your upload will run on screen. When your upload is complete, click the Back to … link in the middle of the screen. The uploaded zip file displays here. To extract the files into this folder, select the .zip file and click Extract. In the Extract Verification dialog box, click Extract File(s). A list of the files that were extracted into the web root directory folder will display. Click Close to return to the web root directory folder. The contents of the zip file are now visible in the public html folder, or the web root directory for your primary domain name's website. That’s it! Now that you’ve uploaded your website files, open a web browser and navigate to your domain to see what visitors will see!

Now, I will take a moment to fill up the rest of the tasks that I have lined up for this plan. And I will do it through the magic of video editing - to save your time! OK - now our plan has 10 tasks all together. You can get all of these docs from the exercise files - and recreate this exercise. One simple thing to notice is that Microsoft Project highlights the changes made in the last step with this light blue colour - that you can see here. It is nothing but a visual indication to you. This can be incredibly useful when you move on to complex projects that can be multiple screens long and wide - and changes in one part of the screen can effect various areas in your project. So, this is a good thing to notice right from the beginning and keep an eye upon. Before we proceed any further, I want to save this file. And to do that I will first click on the "File" menu. Now, when you click on the file menu - you are led into an entirely different area of Microsoft Project. For very first time users this can be a little disorienting - because suddenly you are looking at a new user interface. Microsoft calls this area as the "Backstage". And this area is where you can do ALL the file management tasks in one location. In this interface, the tabs are on the left-hand-side of the screen. This backstage area is consistent in all Microsoft Office products - and once you get a little used to it, you will find it intuitive and convenient. For now, I will click on the "Save as" and give this file a name and location on my computer. We will be looking at the backstage in more detail over several future lessons. To return back to your work you will need to click on this "return arrow" at the top here. Now, coming back to our project - so far we have just added tasks. We have not yet tapped into the magic of Microsoft Project. And we will see the first taste of that when we create a SCHEDULE out of this task list. To do that, first select all the tasks - by getting the mouse over to the corner here and selecting all the tasks together. Then - in the ribbon menu - first ensure "Task" tab is active. In this tab, you will find the "Schedule" section. What we will use is this little button with a chain icon. It's name is "Link the selected tasks". And when you click on the button - all the tasks have been automatically converted into a schedule! You can see that in the chart area here - a gantt chart has been created which reflects our schedule. Now all the tasks are linked together. What that means is that any further editing to my tasks - like change the duration or start date or end date or adding new tasks - and Project will automatically keep the overall schedule in shape. I will show a simple example by just changing the duration of the first task to 5 days. And instantly you can see Project will recalculate everything else for your entire schedule. At the very high level - what you have seen now is the basic premise of using Microsoft Project. Now this is a very simple example, and I will not be showing anything more complicated that real life projects will have. We will move on to increasingly interesting examples step by step. But before we do that, in the next section, we will first go over some very fundamental concepts used in Microsoft Project. This will introduce you to the terminology and concepts used by Project - and it will be very beneficial to new starters and veterans also to establish a common platform used in the rest of this course! Patrick and the Rewild Homes Team built the custom Ptarmigan extra wide tiny house for a senior who wanted a bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the main floor to avoid stairs and a ladder. It is 12 feet wide, cantilevered over a standard width trailer, and 20 feet long for a total of 240 square feet. Rewild Homes in Nanaimo, BC: http://www.rewildhomes.com/ To build such a wide tiny house on wheels, the Rewild team built a deck platform to raise the floor high enough so that the trailer wheel wells wouldn't protrude into the floor. The home will be completely on the grid, with power, water and sewer hookups. The layout is very simple, with a small a kitchen, large living room, a bedroom with space for a queen sized bed, and an en suite bathroom with hand rails for support. The person this house is being built for had the choice between going into a care facility, or moving into a tiny house in her daughter's backyard. We think this is a really great example of how a mobile home can be used to solve a housing problem.
