In this video, I will isolate Paracetamol from Extra Strength Tylenol tablets. First, measure out 300mL of denatured alcohol. Then, add 40 Extra Strength Tylenol tablets that contain 500mg of Paracetamol each. This should be put on a hotplate set on low heat. The mixture should be stirred and occasionally shaken for about 45 minutes. The slurry should then be filtered to remove any other ingredients in the tablets (ie. binders). The final solution should be boiled down to produce a fluffy, white powder of Paracetamol. The Paracetamol should be transferred into an airtight bottle for storage. After recrystalization, I was left with 16g of Paracetamol, corresponding to a 80% recovery. It melts at 168 to 169°C proving a rather high purity.

In this video, a former poly-addict compares heroin with prescription painkillers based on subjective experience and the dangers involved with both substances. If you or a loved one struggle with drug addiction feel free to reach out to me for support! Text: 9723724046 Website: https://www.shamelessprotocol.com/ Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/CGKid219/ SnapChat: cg-kid Instagram: cg_kid Twitter: TheCGKid Prescription drugs are downplayed by public education while heroin is demonized, is there really that much of a difference in dangers? Heroin, Oxycontin, Vicodin, Morphine, Codeine, Opium, etc. all belong to the opiate drug class. They're all derived from opium. What makes these opiates different as far as effects and dangers? Prescribed drugs aren't less dangerous than heroin, there's just less education about the dangers involved. They can be just as physically addictive as the heroin drug, they also have acetaminophen which is liver toxic. As a former heroin addict who used prescription drugs recreationally I can say they're extremely similar, especially at high doses. This is why oxy's referred to as "synthetic heroin" or the "doctors heroin". However, this can be said about all prescribed opiates. The heroin problem isn't caused by the doctors. The drug problem in America stems from lack of education. This leads to not only addiction but abusing substances to the point of irreversible damage. Every drug can be a deadly drug, from Tylenol to heroin.

Tramadol vs. Hydrocodone. Overview. Tramadol and hydrocodone are two types of potent pain relievers called opioid analgesics. They’re often used to treat moderate to severe pain, such as long-term pain related to cancer or other chronic conditions. They can also treat pain from an injury or surgery. Hydrocodone is intended for severe chronic pain when nonopioid pain relievers, such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen, haven’t helped. These drugs have a powerful effect on your brain. They’re both highly effective, but they work in different ways. These drugs also come with their own side effects. Here’s what to know about how tramadol and hydrocodone are similar and different. How they work. Both tramadol and hydrocodone attach to receptors in your brain to change your perception of pain. However, tramadol also allows the chemical messengers norepinephrine and serotonin to remain available to your brain for a longer period. It is believed that this helps block pain signals in your spinal cord. Differences at a glance. Tramadol. Generic available—Yes. Brand name—ConZip, Ultram. Forms—Immediate-release tablets and extended-release tablets. Strengths—Immediate release: 50 mg; extended release: 100 mg, 150 mg, 200 mg, 300 mg. Unique side effects: flushing. congestion. sore throat. headache. itching. weakness. seizures. Hydrocodone. Generic available—No Brand name— Zohydro ER, Hysingla ER Forms—Extended-release tablets (Immediate-release hydrocodone is only available in combination products in which it’s combined with other drugs.) Strengths—Extended release: 20–120 mg Unique side effects: confusion. low blood pressure. respiratory depression. gastric obstruction. Side effects Common side effects of both drugs include: dizziness. drowsiness. constipation. loss of appetite. nausea and vomiting. However, tramadol may also cause: flushing. congestion. sore throat. headache. itching. weakness. Most of these mild side effects will resolve within a few days. Serious side effects. More serious side effects of both drugs can include: mood problems. hypersensitivity reactions, including swelling of the tongue or throat, trouble. breathing, and skin rash. Additionally, tramadol can cause seizures. Hydrocodone can also cause: confusion. low blood pressure. respiratory depression. gastric obstruction. Get immediate medical attention or call 911 if you have any serious side effects. from either drug. Risk factors. Certain people may be more at risk of side effects. Side effects of both drugs are more likely or can be more intense if you are a senior. They can also be more intense if you have kidney or liver disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or other chronic diseases. People with depression who take tramadol may be at increased risk of suicide. Interactions. Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the medications you take. Many drugs can interact. For example, alcohol and certain over-the-counter drugs that cause sleepiness, including cough or cold formulas, can increase the sedating effect of these drugs. Warnings. Hydrocodone comes with a black box warning about the potential for misuse. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), hydrocodone is associated with more misuse than any other opioid. It is possible to develop a tolerance to either drug, especially if you don’t take it exactly as your doctor prescribes it. Building a tolerance to a drug means that the same dosage no longer achieves the same effect. People who develop a tolerance often take more of the drug than recommended to get the same feeling. Tolerance can often lead to dependence. You’re more likely to develop dependence on these drugs if you have a history of drug or alcohol misuse. If you feel yourself becoming dependent, contact your doctor right away. Don’t stop taking the drug, especially if you have taken it for weeks or months. Your doctor will adjust your dosage to slowly taper you off the drug. This helps prevent withdrawal. Tell your doctor right away if you have withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking either of these drugs. Deciding which one to take. Before your doctor can recommend an opioid, it’s important that you discuss all underlying medical conditions. List all your over-the-counter and prescription medications and supplements. Tell your doctor if you’ve ever had a problem with alcohol or substance misuse. Discuss the potential side effects and benefits of these and other opioids with your doctor. Together, you can choose the least potent treatment necessary to relieve your pain. All Photos Licensed Under CC Source : www.pexels.com www.pixabay.com www.commons.wikimedia.org

Lean is the name of a codeine-based drink that has become popular within some strands of hip hop culture in the US - and now it has made its way to Bristol. It is made with prescribed codeine-based cough syrup, but, when mixed with alcohol and other drugs like Xanax, it poses an extreme overdose risk. Here, Drugsland highlights the dangers of Lean, as well as meeting some musicians from Bristol who consume the drink. -- Click here to subscribe to BBC Three: http://bit.ly/BBC-Three-Subscribe Did you know that we’re up to other things in other places too? Oxycodone is a popular member of the opioid class. It is widely used in medical settings for acute and chronic pain. Outside of those settings, it has long been used recreationally, with its effects compared to morphine and heroin. The drug is sold either on its own or in combination with acetaminophen (primarily). When acetaminophen is present, the dose must be limited. The general recommendation is to avoid using over 1,000 mg of acetaminophen at once or 3,000 mg per day. An oxycodone overdose can be very dangerous and even deadly, with a notably problematic effect being respiratory depression. It is more risky when combined with other CNS depressants (e.g. benzodiazepines and alcohol.) During my 15th week of pregnancy, I got two teeth extracted under local anesthesia by an oral surgeon. There was a lot of pressure, some pain, and overall it was a pretty physical surgery. The whole process took about 5 minutes. If you need dental work, get it done before you get pregnant. There was a lot of pain, stress, bacteria, prescription pain drugs, time away from work, and a x-ray that could have been avoided. Pregnancy is hard enough without other medical problems. Side note on the X-ray, I am not sure if anyone is completely comfortable with x-ray during pregnancy but the risk and benefit of each scenario must be weighed out. My Surgeon waited until my second trimester and covered me with a double shield before take 1 full mouth x-ray. I was not actively trying to conceive and let my dental problems go untreated before falling pregnant. So far during my pregnancy, I have had 3 cavities filled and the 2 extractions, #16 a wisdom tooth, and #13 a premolar. The recovery was easy and painless compared to the toothaches and pain I experienced early in pregnancy. The pain was so intense that I went to the Emergency Room one night at 7 weeks pregnant. They prescribed me Vicodin in the ER and Tylenol #3 with codeine for after my teeth were pulled. Both are scary, protected narcotics with a risk of addiction. I stopped taking the Vicodin as soon as my pain subsided, which was probably 4 weeks ago, and I only took 1 Tylenol #3 the first night after having the oral surgery. I continued to take regular strength, over the counter Tylenol for about 2 days after the surgery, but I don't even need that anymore. Overall, not the best experience of my life. I would much rather get a tooth pulled sleep, under general anesthesia, but it really wasn't the worst experience either. Heck, it wasn't even my worst dental experience. I hope this helps another pregnant mom with dental and teeth issues, as I know it is a very common pregnancy symptom. My Vegan Cooking Channel http://youtube.com/thesweetestvegan

http://voc.tv/1l7rWdv In the United States today, more than 12 million people abuse opioid prescription drugs like like Oxycontin and Oxycodone. Vocativ got access to two Oxy users who are at the heart of the epidemic, and they allowed us to film as they smoked pills and discussed their addiction. Users Nalu and Jango talk candidly about why they started on oxy, and describe the physical effects of using this opiate substitute. Oxy is colloquially called "hillbilly heroin" because of its high abuse rate in poor Appalachian communities. In actuality, it is a very expensive drug to use. Many oxy addicts eventually turn to actual heroin since it's cheaper to procure. The higher Nalu and Jango get, the more detail they divulge about the extremes they go to for the money to feed their expensive habit. Both men tell us they hope to eventually quit, but with few resources and a powerful physical addiction to kick, their futures seem unclear.
