Is this the most creative bike rider on Earth? Tate Roskelley might just be a genius. SUBSCRIBE for more BMX videos: http://smarturl.it/SubToTCU Forgive the Upworthy-esque YouTube friendly title (no seriously I'm pretty embarrassed but I want to give this a decent chance of doing Tim Knoll numbers) and witness Tate Roskelley. Tate's got just about the most original perspective on BMX you can imagine. I think years ago when Jim C said "I just want to see what's possible", Tate took his words at face value. His riding is less about making a statement and more about asking questions. What is a bike trick? What is a street spot? The answers aren't always pretty (I'm sure he isn't going to start riding around with his stem bolts loose full time) but they're always interesting and Tate is always having fun. These films are aimed at people who might be experiencing problems with their mental health but also those who might be caring for someone struggling with mental health. I am a stable and steady Lithium Carbonate taker and I was diagnosed and sectioned under the mental health act with Bipolar disorder in the summer of 2011. Other Youtubers that I've research might be filming themselves while they are having a manic or depressive episode to show you what it looks like. Others are struggling with their medication and talk about how it affects their life. Some have come off all medication and are living with their ups and downs quite successfully. And the last lot are fully recovered and are out there helping others in anyway they can. I'm in the middle of all this because I take my medication everynight and I'm not struggling with taking my pills. I still notice some side effects of taking Lithium Carbonate and I will make a film on this in the near future. I can lead a healthy, 'normal life' and feel grounded, safe, loved, confident with my actions and so much more. I can talk about my experiences, Bipolar and everything that encircles it from a rational, objective stand point. In this 'Introducting my Bipolar Disorder films' I list some of the topics I will cover. Last night I wrote down 15 more film titles I'd like to talk about: Suicide, Mental Health Hospitals, Panic attacks, Mindfullness, Getting a job after an episode, Distorted time, Real or Unreal, Visions Voices and hallucinations, Regressing, Trying Lithium Orotate, Abortions and medication, Kundalini energy during my 1st episode, Yoga and mental health, Eating Vegan for mental health and Coming off Lithium for for good. There are famous people like Stephen Fry and Ruby Wax who have the condition but also a growing number 'regular' people too who are finding themselves lost in a soup of pills, doctors and no real answers. So I hope that I am able to help you understand this condition in a little more detail. Yesterday I made about 10 films: they are on their way uploading as we speak.

LITHIUM is the most commonly used medication to treat bipolar disorder (manic depression). it has been most frequently and effectively used to control and prevent manic episodes in persons with bipolar disorder. Lithium has been successful in treating depression as well. In fact, the occurrence of depression in a person who has been taking lithium is often an indication that a higher dose is needed. In some cases, lithium is even a successful treatment for those with unipolar depression, or those who have never had a manic episode. Individuals who respond to lithium for depression are often those who have not responded to tricyclic antidepressants after several weeks of treatment. When given lithium in addition to their antidepressants, some of these people have shown significant improvement. Lithium has also successfully treated schizophrenia in cases where there is a schizophrenic thought disorder accompanied by a change in mood that mimics either mania or depression. The similarity between people with this type of schizophrenia and those diagnosed with manic depression is their affective disorder--that is, the experience of strong emotions not related to what is happening in the environment. People with schizophrenia not experiencing an affective disorder will not likely respond to the combination of lithium and antipsychotic medication.

Developed and produced by http://www.MechanismsinMedicine.com Animation Description: Bipolar Disorder encompasses a wide spectrum of symptoms and is classified according to the types of mood episodes exhibited, including: manic, hypomanic, major depressive and mixed episodes. Bipolar I disorder involves a manic or mixed episode in contrast to Bipolar II disorder, which involves at least one major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode, but no full manic or mixed episodes. Bipolar Disorder should be differentiated from Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), which is diagnosed when a patient experiences one or more major depressive episodes without any lifetime episodes of hypomania or mania. Depicted here is a life chart (or mood chart), which follows the patient's lifetime history of mood episodes. This permits the identification of mood episodes that are the most prevalent and important to prevent. In this patient, as with many patients with bipolar disorder, depressive episodes become the more prominent aspect of the illness as the person ages. Several morphometric differences have been observed in the brains of Bipolar Disorder patients relative to healthy subjects. White matter hyperintensities and reduction in grey matter volume, identified with MRI, have been described in patients with Bipolar Disorder. Increased ventricular size and decreased frontal cortical area volumes may also be observed in Bipolar Disorder patients. The pathophysiology of Bipolar Disorder encompasses environmental, behavioural, neuronal, cellular, and molecular levels. At the molecular level, aberrant signaling cascades alter synaptic plasticity. Strong evidence supporting the importance of second messenger signaling has come from studying the targets of mood stabilizing drugs such as lithium. GSK-3 and IP3 signaling cascades are known to mediate axonogenesis, synaptogenesis, neuronal growth and cone spreading. Other downstream effects may also be involved. The heritability of bipolar disorder is around 80%. Monozygotic twins are reported to have a higher incidence of developing Bipolar Disorder, approximately 40%, whereas the incidence is only 10% in dizygotic twins. Although the process of developing bipolar disorder likely arises from complex interactions between genes and environmental factors, the specific genes that contribute to this risk are not known with certainty. Variations of several genes have been identified as potential contributors to the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder. Among the identified genes are those associated with serotonin signaling (SLC6A4, TPH2), dopamine signaling (SLC6A3, DRD4), glutamate transmission (DAOA, DTNBP1), and cell maintenance and growth (NRG1, BDNF, DISC1). The most significant environmental triggers of mood episodes among patients with bipolar disorder include use of drugs with mood-altering properties, changes in circadian rhythm, and life stressors. Successful management of bipolar disorder requires particular attention to minimizing the effects of these influences. It is also available on http://www.MDPracticeGuide.com - wholly CME guideline resource dedicated to the needs of busy, practice-based physicians, which spans multiple therapeutic areas.

During the making of "What Did I Do, God as My Witness" (Album name: Sonic Highways), Dave Grohl decided to play some tracks by Nirvana. Cue awkwardness level 100. "There's a reason why you don't see Nirvana's songs in chewing-gum commercials. Krist and I do our best to try to keep that sort of thing from happening. The band stood for something; we took pride in our integrity and in our band. We understood the world that we were living in, having gone from the van to becoming what people understand as Nirvana now. But we really tried our best to keep our cool. So Krist and I still do." Apart from not giving the permission to use Nirvana tracks in the advertising industry, Grohl has also stressed out that he doesn't plan on using them with the Foo Fighters either. "There's a reason why the Foo Fighters don't blast out Nirvana songs every night - because we have a lot of respect for them. You know, that's hallowed ground. We have to be careful. We have to tread lightly. We have talked about it before, but the opportunity hasn't really come up, or it just hasn't felt right."

Diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 21 after a manic episode, Ross McKenzie managed his symptoms with lithium. After being on the psychotropic drug for half of his life, Ross sets off on a journey to treat his condition through alternative treatments and delve into the root cause of his mental breakdown. As Ross peels away the layers, his personal experiences tell a larger story about medication. The film, BIPOLARIZED, reveals how society is labeling more and more people with mental illnesses and how, in tandem, doctors are prescribing more and more toxic psychotropic drugs to treat these conditions. Many people put the blame for the spike in diagnoses on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the dictionary of mental disorders, which is currently in its fifth edition (DSM V). Questioning his bipolar label, Ross seeks out activists, psychiatrists and psychiatric survivors who have challenged the status quo in psychiatry, and recounts some of the alternative therapies he explores to maintain his mental, emotional and physical health.

In a disused hospital pantry in the 1940s, an Australian doctor, John Cade, discovered an astonishing treatment for bi-polar disorder. It would revolutionise the way we think about mental illness and mark the beginning of psychopharmacology - using drugs to manage psychiatric conditions. This was inspired thinking at a time when Freudian psychoanalysis, electric shock and lobotomy were the dominant approaches and patients were often locked up in asylums. The breakthrough followed years of research and experimentation, and it would take two more decades of struggle before lithium treatment was finally accepted—but Cade's successors persevered. Their work has meant a chance at stability for hundreds of thousands of people, and lithium remains the benchmark for bi-polar treatment today.

Bipolar Disorder Facts Many artists, musicians, writers, singers and celebrities has or had bipolar disorder. Here is a list of the most famous celebrities who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder: Frank Sinatra, Edgar Allan Poe, Sinead O’Connor, Friedrich Nietzsche, Marilyn Monroe, Demi Lovato, Ernest Hemingway, Mel Gibson, Kurt Cobain, Vincent van Gogh, Amy Winehouse, Virginia Woolf, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Britney Spears, and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Interestingly, some studies show there is a link between creativity and the maniac phase of bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder marked by bouts of extreme and impairing changes in mood, thinking, and behavior. This image shows a cross sections of the activity of the brain in people with different psychological disorders: Bipolar disorder can be treated but not cured, it tends to be episodic in nature, but the goal of treatment is to manage the disease, decrease the severity of depressive and manic episodes and keep recurrences to a minimum. There are many differences between bipolarity and depression, also known as unipolar depression because a person’s mood swings only in one direction, down, meanwhile manic depression is bipolar, because the mood swings range from low to high and back again. A significant number of teenagers who abuse alcohol and drugs are suffering from an underlying mood disorder such as depression or bipolar disorder. Without realizing it, they may be trying to self- medicate their symptoms of clinical depression or manic depressive illness, since they offer temporarily relaxation, or help them to feel confident or energetic, which can actually deepen depression. All mood disorders start in the brain. Since the brain is an organ of the body, mood disorders are physical, biologically-based disorders. However, in mood disorders, the chemical processes responsible for normal brain function are disrupted. How can I tell whether someone is bipolar or just dealing with stress? The signs to watch for are persistent changes in moods or behaviors that make the person seem different from normal.

Lithium can be used in small quantities to help with mental illnesses (such as anxiety and depression) as well as for relaxation. Many with mthfr defects often have low lithium or have high amounts of lithium but is just being put out of the body or being "wasted". Due to overfarming and other causes there are now lower levels of both magnesium and lithium in soil and water. While Lithium has been debated as to whether its an essential or nonessential mineral, there has been a connection between lower levels of natural lithium levels, and mental illness. Some countries have even been supplementing or adding lithium to the water supply. Lithium is very similar to Sodium (which is an essential mineral) as well. It is sometimes used in higher doses for bipolar disorder as well as many other conditions. Lithium has been debated as to whether it is an essential element as shown in articles here: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolutionary-psychiatry/201201/could-you-have-lithium-deficiency and here: http://www.healthy.net/Health/Article/Lithium/2079 Check out the hubpage I wrote about it for more information: http://jheldt.hubpages.com/hub/How-Lithium-may-help-Mental-Illness Check out my natural supplement store at: http://www.naturogenix.com

Argentina is, alongside with Chile and Bolivia, one of the three countries that make up the so-called LITHIUM TRIANGLE. The area where between 60 and 80% of the world lithium reserves are concentrated. So today’s question is… What happened to this country which improved their image in such a short time? Can they really become the leader of this lithium race? And most important of all… Can lithium turn Argentina into a new Abu Dhabi? Part 2 of the series explores what happened since part 1 nearly three years ago and the beginning of battles dealing with toxic levels of lithium, side effects of other drugs/addiction and the need to approach Bi Polar Disorder unmedicated. Part 2 deals personally with my experience with forcefully having to try living with BPD again without lithium or other mood stabilizers.
