Lesson Planning: What is Required?

04:55
Here is a sample lesson pan template at my TPT store https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Lesson-Planning-Template-3659351. Lesson planning is broken down into twelve different components that all school administrators, and state quality assurance for school will require. Most of these components you will already have in your lesson plans. Some of the categories that are required for teachers to have in their lesson plans begin with having a title and date for all of the lesson plans that are being submitted. Other required components for a teacher's lesson are including differentiated instruction for students with disabilities, and ell students. it also should include technology standards, state standards and cross-curriculum standards when they apply to the lesson. This video is part of a teachings in education playlist designed to help educators answer some of the many questions that teachers have throughout the school year. Other videos include teacher interview questions, blooms taxonomy, formative assessment, positive behavior intervention and supports, school climate and school culture, special education background knowledge, and many more. Teachers looking to add a little bit more to their classroom lesson planning can find a lot and really improve their practice through these videos. Remember, lesson planning is one of the most important components of teachings, yet many teachers don't put enough time into planning their lessons.

The 4 English Sentence Types – simple, compound, complex, compound-complex

15:27
Did you know there are only four sentence types in English? To improve your writing and reading skills in English, I'll teach you all about simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences in this grammar video. You'll learn how to identify the independent and dependent clauses. Don't worry, it's easier than it sounds! By learning to identify and use these sentence structures, you'll make your writing more interesting and dynamic. I'll also share many example sentences in the lesson, so you can practice with my help. http://www.engvid.com/the-4-english-sentence-types-simple-compound-complex-compound-complex/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam. Today's lesson is a writing lesson, but it's also a spoken English lesson. It's about anything to do with English, because we're going to be looking at sentence types. Now, of course, when you speak, you're using all kinds of sentence types. But, especially in writing, it's important to know the different types of sentences, because, especially if you're going to be writing tests, they want to see sentence variety. And even if you're not writing tests, anything you write, if you're using only one type of sentence, your writing becomes very bland, very boring, very hard to follow, because it's a little bit monotone. So what you need to do is you need to vary... You need a variety of sentence structures in your writing to give it a little bit more life. Okay? Luckily, you only need to know four sentence types. We have simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, and compound-complex. Now, this is not exactly easy, but it's not exactly hard, either. If you figure out what you need to have in each one, in each sentence type, just make sure it's there. Okay? Let's start. A simple sentence has one independent clause. A little bit of review: What is an independent clause? An independent clause has a subject and a verb, and can complete an idea. It can stand by itself, because the idea in that clause is complete. I don't need to add anything else to it. Okay. A compound sentence has two or more independent clauses, joined by a conjunction. A compound conjunction: "and", "but", "or", "so", "for" (not very common), etc. So, we join two independent clauses with a compound conjunction. You can have more, but again, you have to be a little bit careful. Once you get to three, start to look for a way to finish your sentence, because if you get to the fourth, you already have a crazy sentence that has the... Runs the risk of being a run-on sentence. Eventually, you're going to make a mistake, you're going to miss something, and the whole sentence falls apart. I don't recommend three, but you can put three. Then we have a complex sentence. A complex sentence has one independent clause, plus one or more dependent clause. A dependent clause is a clause that has a subject and a verb, but cannot stand by itself. It is not a complete idea. It has some sort of relationship to the independent clause. We have three types of dependent clauses. We have noun clauses, we have adjective clauses, and we have adverb clauses. Okay? That's a whole separate lesson. You can look at that later. But you have to have one of these, plus one of these, and you have a complex sentence. Next we have a compound-complex sentence. Here you have two or more independent clauses, again, joined by a conjunction, and one or more dependent clause. Okay? So you have basically all the elements in this sentence. Then, once you have all this stuff, you can add as many complements, or basically extras, as you want. So, let's look at an example. We're going to start with the simple sentence: "Layla studied biology." Very simple. I have a subject, I have a verb, I have an object. Okay? This is a simple sentence. It's an independent clause; it can stand by itself as a complete idea. Now, I can add anything I want to this that is not another clause of any type, and it'll still be a simple sentence. So I can say: "My friend Layla studied biology in university." I'll just say "uni" for short. I have more information, but do I have a different type of sentence? No. It's still a simple sentence. Now, let's look at this sentence. First, let me read it to you: "Even with the weather being that nasty, the couple and their families decided to go ahead with the wedding as planned." Now you're thinking: "Wow, that's got to be a complex sentence", right? "It's so long. There's so much information in it." But, if we look at it carefully, it is still a simple sentence. Why? Because we only have one independent clause. Where is it? Well, find the subject and verb combination first. So, what is the subject in this sentence? I'll give you a few seconds, figure it out. Hit the pause key, look at it. Okay, we're back. Here is the subject: "the couple and their families". Now, don't get confused with this "and".

Living and Nonliving Things. Things which can grow, move, breathe and reproduce are called living things. Living things can also feel emotions like anger, fear and happiness. After growing and living for a long time living things ultimately die. Examples of living things are human beings, animals and plants. Plants cannot move from one place to another. However, plants move their stem to face the sun. Hence, they are also living things. Things which cannot grow, move, breathe and reproduce are called nonliving things. They do not have any kind of life in them. Examples of nonliving things are rocks, bucket and water.

By default, the decisions we make regarding marketing mix will be as good as our understanding of the target market. If we’ve done quality research, the likelihood of coming up with a good marketing mix combination increases. Four major variables shape a company’s marketing mix. These variables are known as the Four Ps of Marketing. Focusing on: • Product • Price • Place • And Promotion This has proven to be an effective way to understand the decisions a company makes when it enters a market and competes in it. If a company understands the needs of its customers, it can create products that satisfy the clients’ expectations and contain the features they desire; it will offer these products at a price that corresponds to the target market’s willingness to spend, and it will offer them where the target market loves to shop. It will also build its brand communication in a language that speaks to the target market. Marketing Mix and the Four Ps is intuitive. Marketing managers should concentrate on these variables and tailor them regarding the target market they’ve chosen to pursue.

The Marketing Mix - The dynamic nature of the 4 P's

Their role is to implement the strategic direction that top management has chosen. However, if one of the four Ps is not in sync with the others, the entire plan becomes compromised. Imagine you are a marketing manager in a company that produces air conditioners. Your R&D team has just let you know they have come up with an amazing breakthrough – they have created an air conditioner that uses 50% less energy than any other air conditioner in the marketplace. Until this moment, your company’s strategy has been cost leadership, but this new finding allows you to create a differentiated product! So, what are you going to do? Tell the R&D team their amazing breakthrough is not in line with the firm’s strategy? Even though it might win the firm market share and allow it to charge more for its products, and marketing studies indicate potential improvements of profitability? Or perhaps, you could readjust the four Ps plan to correspond to a differentiated product that is going to cost more, will be sold by premium resellers, and will need an extensive advertising campaign… The second scenario sounds better, right? The 4 Ps can be readjusted and needs to be readjusted when one of the Ps changes. Think of the Ps as an ecosystem that must adapt to a changing environment. If one component changes, all four must evolve and adapt accordingly.

Animal Cell | It's AumSum Time

09:45
Animal Cell. The Animal cell is surrounded by a semi-permeable cell membrane. The cell membrane allows only specific materials to move in and out of the cell. The different parts of the cell are called organelles. Nucleus, Mitochondria, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi Apparatus, Lysosomes. The cytoplasm is a jelly like substance. Cytoplasm provides a surface for all the organelles in the animal cell. Nucleus being the control center of cell decides and controls most of the functions going on in the cell. Mitochondria are the sites for cellular respiration in cells. They are the powerhouses of the cell because they release energy rich compounds called ATP. ATP is needed for the functioning, growth and maintenance of the body. Let us now study about the endoplasmic reticulum. The endoplasmic reticulum is a large network of membrane bound sheets. They help in transporting and exchanging materials between the various regions of the cytoplasm. The endoplasmic reticulum is of two types: The smooth endoplasmic reticulum The rough endoplasmic reticulum. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum helps in the formation of lipids. Lipids are essential components of the cell membrane. The rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes. Ribosomes help in building proteins in the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The protein is processed inside the golgi apparatus. The proteins are packaged and sent outside. The golgi apparatus is involved in the formation of lysosomes. The lysosomes contain powerful digestive enzymes that help in cell digestion. When the cell is damaged, the lysosome bursts. After the lysosome bursts, digestive enzymes get released. The digestive enzymes digest their own cell. Hence, lysosomes are called suicide bags of the cell.

Four Rules for a Healthy Lifestyle, animated for Harvard Medical School

02:29
As part of Harvard Medical School's Reflection in Action: Building Healthy Communities™ program, LineStorm Animation students from three different Boston Public Schools previsualized, designed and animated this hand-drawn educational short to emphasize four basic rules for a healthy lifestyle: 1. Eat a Good Diet. 2. Get Regular Exercise. 3. Keep Good Hygiene. 4. Get Enough Rest. The participating Boston Public Schools were The Dearborn School, The Martin Luther King, Jr. School and The Boston Middle School Academy. Pell Osborn of MotionArt Studios, Boston, supervised LineStorm Animation workshops at each school, for students ranging in age from 11 to 16. The students' animation originates entirely on flipbooks, and streams at a rate of ten drawings for every second of screen time. The lively music, "Moving In," was composed by John Murphy; it comes from the soundtrack of the film "Millions," on a Milan CD #M2-36116, © 2005 Milan Entertainment, Inc. and is used for inspirational and educational purposes only.
