Here are five things I wish I had known before my first day of medical school. Having these down will make the transition much easier. Your study efficiency, happiness, wellbeing, and satisfaction with life will all improve. The sooner you can incorporate all five, the quicker medical school will feel less like medical school and more like college part two. 1. Know your study style. Here's a broad but complete overview of various study styles, study strategies, and how to study more effectivley: https://youtu.be/1JqFJdptTto 2. Discipline is your best friend. Discipline in one area of your life will improve other areas of your life as well. "Discipline is a muscle requiring regular exercise." 3. Prioritize your free time & don't spread yourself too thin. You won't have time for all the hobbies and activities from undergrad, but you will have time for some. Pick and choose which are more important to you. 4. MAKE (don't find) time for yourself. You will never find time in medical school. Make it happen. It's important for you and your future patients. 5. Efficiency is the name of the game. If you improve your efficiency, everything else will fall into place. Scott Dinsmore's mission is to change the world by helping people find what excites them and build a career around the work only they are capable of doing. He is a career change strategist whose demoralizing experience at a Fortune 500 job launched his quest to understand why 80% of adults hate the work they do, and more importantly, to identify what the other 20% were doing differently. His research led to experiences with thousands of employees and entrepreneurs from 158 countries. Scott distilled the results down to his Passionate Work Framework - three surprisingly simple practices for finding and doing work you love, that all happen to be completely within our control. Thomas Ketchell, 25 years old, was born in St. Leonards-On-Sea (UK) but grew up in France and Belgium. After working in Australia for a year, he went on to clinch his BA in History & Chinese Studies. His desire to help the environment brought him to East Africa in 2010 where he built biogas systems. Biogas projects use cow dung to provide clean cooking gas in rural parts of Kenya, where forests are being cut down and wood for cooking is disappearing rapidly. He went on to do a postgraduate in Business & Development, and ended up living and working in China. Whilst living in Beijing, he experienced the dreadful quality of the air on a daily basis. Wanting to alert people back home what it was like to breathe in this dirty air, he decided with his colleague Steven Chiu -- to re-enact on social media the 1952 Great Smog of London. The success of this re-enactment led to worldwide coverage, which encouraged both Steven and Thomas to co-found Hstry, which relives historical events through a first-person perspective to bring history to life. Hstry is now providing interactive storylines of historical events for both elementary and secondary schools across the globe in line with their vision to become the leading digital learning platform for history. The Book of Daniel - Study #1 - Includes an introduction to the entire Book of Daniel and verse by verse commentary on Daniel Chapters 1 & 2. Almost everyone looks at the book of Daniel with a sense of wonder and anticipation, because this is usually regarded as a prophetic book foretelling the future. This is true. The book of Daniel, together with the book of Revelation, marvelously unfolds future events as God has ordained them in the program of history. By no means has this book yet been fulfilled, neither has the book of Revelation. These two books, one from the Old and one from the New Testament, remarkably complement each other in their symmetry and harmony. The book of Revelation explains the book of Daniel. The book of Daniel lays the basis for the book of Revelation. If you would like to know God's program for the future, it is essential that you understand this book of Daniel.

Learning Futures is an ambitious and exciting programme designed to support governors, leaders, teachers and trainers to inspire learning through the effective use of technology. The programme aims to produce resources and processes that will: Support governing bodies and boards, leadership teams and managers to make informed decisions concerning the resourcing and implementation of learning technology; Develop the confidence and expertise of teachers, trainers and assessors to design effective technology enabled learning opportunities; Support teachers, trainers and assessors to work collaboratively with technical teams to deliver effective online learning; Engage employers in the design and delivery of vocational programmes to ensure access to industry-standard technology which supports a clear line of sight to work. LEARNING FUTURES - NITA'S STORY "Meet Nita. Nita loves the subject she teaches and she’s passionate about launching the careers of her learners. Her contact time is limited, so she wants to ensure her learners get the most from her - so that thcey achieve the best grades they can. She is sure technology can help her – but she doesn’t know where to start. But let’s stop thinking about teaching and technology for a moment and focus on learning. Take a moment to reflect on the real-world skills you use everyday to do your job effectively. How did you learn them? Why did you learn them? Where did you learn them? We live in a world of projects. Whether it's a job assignment, DIY or planning a party. We identify problems that need solving and actively learn the skills required. We do this through reading and watching instructions on the internet or in books, talking to others – but mainly by completing the task, stretching ourselves and learning from the experience. Nita has been thinking about how she can make use of technology to model real-life learning to prepare her learners for the world of work. Meet Sanj. Sanj is one of Nita’s learners. Sanj’s learning isn’t restricted by his lesson timetable. He completes projects assigned to him, working in his own way towards the deadline – sometimes on his own, more often as part of a team. Nita and Sanj use technology to ensure his learning is effective and structured. At the start of each project, Sanj agrees a project plan with Nita and together they work out where the gaps are in his knowledge and skills – and how best to acquire them. This project plan is recorded on a project management tool, which both Nita and Sanj can access online via computer or mobile device. This gives Sanj milestones to work towards, and supports his productivity. During the project, Nita and her learners share and rate resources they find online that support knowledge creation. Together they are creating an up-to-date course handbook on the web that can be accessed 24/7. Sanj likes to use his bus journey to catch up on the latest videos and blogs. Each learner also creates their own resources by sharing knowledge gained from work experience. By actively contributing to the collective intelligence of the class, learners can earn badges that contribute to their grade. Sanj has been encouraged and supported in developing a network of fellow learners that stretches way beyond his provider. He has collaborated on projects with learners from all around the world – and been in regular contact with some of the leading experts in the field, through their blogs and social media. Nita facilitates online discussions, sometimes hosted by invited experts. Learners also submit their work-in-progress for online critiques from staff, learners and invited experts. Nita uses one-to-one time to focus on the competencies Sanj is developing by completing the course work in this way. She helps him unpick the way he is learning, so that he can transfer these skills to any problem. Sanj brings evidence of his learning – in the form of photographs, notes and videos – all captured on his mobile device. In this way, he becomes expert in his own learning and explaining how his expertise is being developed – vital skills when it comes up-skilling in the workplace, and job applications. Nita still brings learners together in the classroom, but these lessons take the form of workshops. She feels like she able to share her expertise in a way that enriches the overall learning experience – her own learning experience as much as the learners. This isn’t the future of learning. This is learning enhanced and enriched by the technology available now. Nita’s story is about learning design and some deep thinking about how her learners can get the most from the window of time they have with her. It is about equipping learners with the key skills they need to survive in a world of constant change. This isn’t the future of learning this is learning for the future."

For this unit study on trees and plants, we are going to stick pretty close to the Live-Education Waldorf curriculum for the Botany Main Lesson. The Waldorf curriculum is fairly complete with just a few suggested supplement books. You will need your main lesson book, some color pencils or another art medium and a pencil. We are going to extend this main lesson block into a unit study, adding more resources and games for various ages groups to meet the need to all my children. We will turn part of this time into a unit study on plants and trees filling our unit with picture books, board games, kits, gardening adventures and a lot of time outdoors enjoying the fair whether. We have begun to fill our nature journals (ones we made last year) with illustrations inspired by the game Into The Forest. We will also make use of a Charlotte Mason book Sharing Nature With Children to find innovative ways to enjoy nature with kids or adults. We also added some books by Arabella Buckley. These books were written about 100 years ago and they are lively engaging story driven science books that are so different than the science texts you see today. No unit would be complete without some kits, and we are finding the ones from Nature-Watch very educational and fun to use. We are using Forever Forest, Pine Tree Growing kit and Forest in a Box for this unit. Nikola Tesla is considered one of the most innovative and mysterious men who ever lived on Earth. He was a man way ahead of his time and is responsible for most of the technology we use today. In fact, if Nikola Tesla hadn’t invented and researched everything he did in his time, our technology today would be considerably worse. Nikola Tesla’s inventions went far beyond electricity. He made groundbreaking discoveries such as wireless radio communications, turbine engines, helicopters (although it was Da Vinci who first had the idea), fluorescent and neon lights, torpedoes and the X-ray among others. By the time of his death, Tesla held nearly 700 worldwide patents. 💜 Subscribe and like if you enjoyed the video. ✅The best jobs no longer go to the best candidates. Times have changed. They now go to the people with the best strategies. We transformed over 5,000 careers. Join me at LIG and let me show you how yours will be the next career transformed; http://lig.academy Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you. To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I am teaching Project Management Institute's (PMI) project management framework. ________________________________________________ Textbooks and frameworks are always boring. So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course

Basic English Grammar lesson -- Verbs and Tenses -- Speak fluent English. What are verbs? The verb is king in English. The shortest sentence contains a verb. You can make a one-word sentence with a verb, for example: "Stop!" You cannot make a one-word sentence with any other type of word. Verbs are sometimes described as "action words". This is partly true. Many verbs give the idea of action, of "doing" something. For example, words like run, fight, do and work all convey action. But some verbs do not give the idea of action; they give the idea of existence, of state, of "being". For example, verbs like be, exist, seem and belong all convey state. What is a Tense? Tense is a method that we use in English to refer to time - past, present and future. Many languages use tenses to talk about time. Other languages have no tenses, but of course they can still talk about time, using different methods. So, we talk about time in English with tenses. But, and this is a very big but: • we can also talk about time without using tenses (for example, going to is a special construction to talk about the future, it is not a tense) • one tense does not always talk about one time (see Tense & Time for more about this)

http://www.engvid.com Do you know how to build a sentence in English? In this lesson, you will learn the basic parts of a simple sentence, or independent clause. Knowing this will make it easier to understand any sentence in written English. Understanding how these different parts of a sentence work together to form meaning will help you write better in English. The knowledge in this lesson is essential for any 'Independent User' or 'Proficient User' of English. Quiz yourself here: http://www.engvid.com/english-grammar-the-sentence/ TRANSCRIPT Hi again. I'm Adam. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. Today I have a very important lesson, I think, for all of you that will help you very much with your reading, but especially your writing skills. Okay? Today we're going to look at the sentence. What is a sentence? Now, I know that all of you are saying: "Well, we know what a sentence is. We've learned this a thousand times before." Right? I know what you've learned and I know what you haven't learned, many of you; some of you have, of course. The sentence has a very basic structure, there's a very basic component that must be involved or included in a sentence, and a lot of grammar teachers, a lot of English teachers don't teach this. Okay? All of you, I'm sure have by now heard of "SVO", but have you heard of "SVsC"? Have you heard of "SVC"? Maybe yes, maybe no. But I'm sure a lot of you are going: "What? I've never heard of these things before." Well, we're going to talk about this in one second. Before we talk about a sentence, we have to talk about a clause. Now, what is a clause? I'm sure you've heard this word before as well, but just in case, a clause is any subject, verb combination. It's a group of words that must include a subject and a verb. Now, also very important to remember: it must be a tense verb, meaning that it must take a time; past, present, future. Okay? No base verb, no infinitive verb. So that is a clause. Now, there are two types of clauses. Okay? We have independent clauses and we have dependent clauses. The... These are sometimes called subordinate clauses. Now, every sentence in English to be a grammatically correct sentence must have an independent clause. It doesn't need a dependent clause, but it could have one. The independent clause could include a dependent clause as the subject or object. We'll talk about that after. So an independent clause has a subject and a verb, and it can stand by itself. It can contain a complete idea by itself. Okay? So, technically, the shortest sentence you can have in English will be a... Will be an independent clause with a subject and verb. What is the absolute shortest sentence that you can think of? Think of a sentence, the shortest you can possibly make it. Okay? Here's an example: "Go!" Is this a complete English sentence? Yes. Why? Because it contains an independent clause. Where? We have the implied subject: "you" and the tense verb: "go", the imperative tense "go". So this your basic English sentence. Now, we have three other types, three basic types and we can of course play with these after. Subject, verb, object. Some independent clauses must have an object, we'll talk about that in a second. Excuse me. Subject, verb, subject complement. Some sentences must have a subject complement. Subject, verb, complement. Okay? We're going to talk about each of these in a moment. I have the "A" here because quite often, this complement is actually an adverb phrase or an adverbial. We'll talk about that in a second. So your basic sentence can be any one of these three. Now, the reason we're looking at this... All these structures is because once you understand what must be contained in a sentence, then you can read any English sentence out there that is grammatically correct and be able to understand the main idea of that sentence. Okay? So let's start with "SVO". Okay, let's look at our "SVO" type of independent clause: subject, verb, object. Now, first, what is an object? Well, we have two types of objects to talk about. We have the direct object, we have the indirect object. Now, the thing to understand is that the object always answers a question about the verb, it completes the meaning of the verb by asking the questions: "What?" or: "Who?" Now, keep in mind that technically, it's: "Whom?" But if you say: "Who?" I'll let it go this time. Okay? Formal academic writing, "Whom?", "Whom?", "Whom?" IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, all that - "Whom?" not: "Who?" In the object position. But the direct object answers: "What?" or: "Who?" about the verb. Okay? We'll get back to that.
