Li-Ion cell charger with (too) simple design. With schematic. Charges to 4.45V!

09:04
A very simple Li-Ion battery charger from China. It contains a very simple 2-transistor switching power supply and a voltage regulation with just a Zener diode. There's also an indication circuitry to indicate charging / fully charged using a red / green LED. This is done using only a 3-pin LED and resistors, without any active components. This power supply has no fuse and a questionable mains separation, so it may be dangerous The output voltage is very poorly regulated and in this case it was 4.45V, enough to make a Li-Ion battery catch fire or explode. How to charge A DEAD 18V Lithium Battery Pack!

05:08
I just wanted to make a quick video to show how I was able to get my 18V Ryobi cordless drill batteries to take a charge again. This is actually the second battery I did. Well the 2 batteries that came with the tool kit stopped taking a charge and just blinking red in the "smart charger" after only about a month. I was not shocked (pun intended) since they felt a bit lighter than the more expensive ones I already had from this manufacturer. I don't know if the 12V DC I used is the only method, but it worked twice in a row for me. I said 2 seconds in the video, but I don't know if it was even that long. If it didn't work the first time I would have gone back and tapped the positive for a few more seconds. In summary, both batteries that I fixed have now been fully cycled multiple times in the charger and have worked like new in all my tools. After I let the one charge fully that is shown in the video I put it in the flashlight to test it and ended up turning it off after 3hrs. Bottom line, I couldn't be happier that it worked and saved a bunch of money by not having to get new batteries. Lastly, if my batteries had been old and well used I would not have tried this due to the dangers of lithium batteries, I would have just gotten new ones. In my case, I knew they were only a month or so old and had somehow dropped below the "smart charger" built-in voltage threshold, which I think is around 3V for most lithium chargers. That is all I believe really happened, is that I simply raised the voltage just enough so that the smart charger would recognize the battery and allow it to receive a charge. The output specs on the adapter were: 12VDC, 500mA I needed a T-10 security bit to remove the screws for the battery case.

If you have a variety of cordless tools, it's impossible to have too many different kind of chargers. In this video I'll show you how to charge any cordless tool battery with a Turnigy Accucell charger (which is usually used for charging RC batteries). Save your money on the original chargers and the clutters of keeping them around. This charger will need a 12V power source. D.I.Y Milwaukee Battery won't charge How to Jump Start

01:53
In this video I show how I was able to get a Milwaukee battery that had be sitting a long time and as a result would not charge, to accept a full charge again. This was done on 3 Milwaukee 2.4 Ah 18 volt batteries and all 3 are able to complete the full charge cycle. Using a standard 9 volt household battery to transfer power to the 18 volt battery I made a connection and the 9 volt battery gave a small amount of power to the battery pack so that the charger was able to function properly. I don't know if this will work with other brands like DeWalt Ryobi Makita Black and Decker Craftsman Ridgid Bosch Hitachi Porter-Cable skil but it might be worth a try.

How to revive a dead rechargeable power tool battery easily

03:24
How to revive a dead rechargeable power tool battery easily Rechargeable batteries for power tools sometimes will no longer charge but often these can be easily restored back to life with this simple method. The problem: You have a drill or other power tool with rechargeable batteries but one of the batteries is completely dead and when you plug it into the recharger unit it won't recharge at all. The manufacturers would tell you that you need to buy a new battery. When you look into it you find that the cost a new battery is so high that you may as well just buy a new drill that comes with a couple of new batteries. Well all is not lost! A friend in the UK told me about this method to revive a dead drill battery many years ago and I have used it successfully a number of times since. Basically, it seems that when a battery becomes completely discharged the charger unit effectively does not recognise that a battery has been inserted. This method puts enough charge into the battery so that it is not recognised by the charger and it gets recharged. I take the dead Dewalt battery and a good fully-charged battery and place them side by side. I then use a couple of pairs of scissors to connect the terminals together (plus to plus and negative to negative). I keep them connected for a minute or so and by then the dead battery has sufficient charge to be fully recharged by the charger unit. Of course you can use two pieces of wire or something else to connect the batteries together but I have found scissors work well when doing it by yourself with only one pair of hands. Although I have fix a Dewalt battery here I have used this method to fix other makes when the battery will not charge. So, in future, if you have a dead Nicd power tool battery try this power tool battery fix first before buying new. How to revive dead NiCd battery from cordless power tools

05:21
In this video I'll show you how to bring to life dead NiCd battery from cordless power tools. Nicd batteries often die in such a way that they won't take a charge and have zero voltage. This usually means they're shorted out by crystal dendrite growth inside Nicd cells. There's a method of bringing them back to life by zapping those shorted crystal dendrites away with too much current and voltage. Charge 12v Lithium Battery--Craftsman, Milwaukee, Ryobi, DeWalt & More with SAME CHARGER!

05:46
Everyone is familiar with the new lines of powerful, 12v lithium powered tools that have come out recently. These small power tools, using Lithium Batteries and Modern Circuitry, can rival the power of portable power tools from the past, even tools that featured higher voltages! Most of these new style power tools are of similar design, with only minor tweeks between brands to make them "their own". Even though, their are differences, especially in the battery casing, their is some creative backwards compatibility. In this video, I will be showing how to charge a Milwaukee 12v lithium battery, using a Craftsman Lithium Charger. I highly suggest purchasing a cheap set of testing leads, you can get a pack of 10 from Harbor Freight for around $2-$3. No point in spending forever making them for that price! Sit back and Enjoy the Video! P.S. I do not really recommend doing this regularly to always charge your batteries, however, if you are in a pinch, forgot your charger, and have another brands available, go for it! The reason I am doing this, is that I have a large quantity of these Milwaukee Batteries, and no Milwaukee tools. I got them as part of a bulk "scrap" purchase. so far, I have completly charged ALL 20ish batteries, each one was 100% good :) Difference in resale value of the batteries: Un-Tested/Un-Charged= Sale price of $0.99-$3. Charged/Tested = Sale price of $10-$20 :) CHEERS! https://www.facebook.com/KmanAuto https://www.YouTube.com/KmanAuto https://www.SuperchargerTravel.com http://astore.amazon.com/kman03-20 Kman's Approved Product Store -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Tesla Accident-Car Summoned into Semi Trailer--- How It Most Likely Happened! Hitachi NR1890DR 3-1/2" 18V Cordless Plastic Strip Framing Nailer Review

05:58
Cordless, Gasless framing nailers are on the market today, but many of them lack power and runtime.  Hitachi claims their new version will have all the power needed to drive 3-1/2” nails into even the toughest of engineered lumber.  We can tell you from our use that it can drive those large nails without a problem!  Here is the scoop. When you place a charge 3.0 compact battery in the Hitachi cordless framing nailer, the unit feels pretty balanced, but it is still 11 pounds and quite large.  It is a framing nailer and the size is fairly comparable to other models.  We felt that the magazine was slightly shorter than the 2 other pneumatic framing nailers we have in the shop.  Our round head 3" ring shank nails came in strips of 28.  Hitachi says this unit can hold 37 nails in the magazine.  Loading the magazine is simple with a slide mechanism to go over the nails then catch them to apply pressure. Once you are ready to use the nailer, you must push the power button tucked away under the handle.  This is the place where you turn the machine on, check the battery and also select the actuation.  This area is a bit cramped for use with gloves and in some cases hard to see in bright light.  With the unit turned on, the nailer works just like a pneumatic framing nailer.  The claw tip must be depressed for the unit to fire and the recoil is very similar to a pneumatic framing nailer. Hitachi NR1890DR Features Unique Air Spring Drive System that uses compressed air to drive each nail resulting in zero ramp up time Brushless motor Powered by a Compact 3.0Ah Lithium Ion battery Drives up to 400 nails per charge ( 3.0Ah battery ) Tool-less depth of drive adjustment Power switch located on control panel must be depressed for 1 second to activate the nailer and automatically switches off after 30 minutes of inactivity Selective actuation on the control panel Battery charge indicator located on tool control panel Ergonomically formed soft grip handle Dry fire lock out system Side lock trigger switch Pivoting rafter hook 21° magazine holds approximately 37 plastic strip collated fasteners from 2" up to 3-1/2" in length Drives 3-1/2” nails into even the toughest of engineered lumber Hardened claw tip 10.8 lbs and well balanced for easy maneuverability Covered by Hitachi's Lifetime Lithium Ion tool warranty & 2-Year Lithium Ion battery warranty Battery Usage First, while building a few small deer stands, we found that the 28 nail strips were a bit frustrating as we felt we were running out of nails all the time.  The dry fire lock out was great and the feel of it allowed us to know we were out of nails over and over again.  As we counted the nails and watched the battery life the best we could, we finally started to hear the unit slow at around 270 nails.  The nailer would still fire and drive the nails deep, the compressor just sounded slower although it still kept up with our pace.  The first run, we ran out of power at 302 3" nails.  We popped in another 3.0 Ah battery and it died at 311 nails.  The next run was 298 nails.  At that point, we were out of compact batteries and we loaded a 6.0 ah battery to finish.  That larger battery added a lot of weight to the unit and made it a bit more of a load on your wrist. The Control Panel The heart and soul of the Hitachi Framing Nailer are tucked away at the base of the nailer.  There are small buttons and LED lights that let you know how the unit is set to fire and the battery life.  These buttons are smaller and working with them in the cold with gloves is not ideal.  The LED lights are small but fairly visible.  In direct sunlight, they can be hard to decipher.  The battery fuel gauge is only two lights and we want more info from that gauge, but one can tell from the sound of the nailer when you are low on battery. Sealed Unit Hitachi uses a brushless motor and air pump to build a charge of air in order to fire a nail.  There is a shut off limit if the unit is below 23 degrees Fahrenheit or if the unit gets too hot.  Hitachi has inserted sensors in an effort to protect this framing nailer.   Similar to many air ride systems on cars, the compressed air used is a sealed system.  There is no chance of dust or dirt getting into the air chamber.  There is, however, exhaust ports that allow the air to rush out from underneath the piston as it fires.  Without those ports, there would be a vacuum effect and the gun would work against itself.

Hitachi 18 Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Finish Nailer Introduction

01:14
Hitachi Power Tools introduced a new series of battery-powered cordless, Brushless finish nailers; the NT1850DE 18-Gauge Cordless Brad Nailer, the NT1865DM 16-Gauge Cordless Straight Finish Nailer, and the NT1865DMA 15-Gauge Cordless Angled Finish Nailer (http://www.nailgundepot.com/blog/introducing-hitachi-18v-lithium-ion-cordless-finish-nailers.html). This series combines Hitachi’s reputation for quality with a Lifetime tool warranty. Lose the air hose, compressor or gas fuel cartridges. These Hitachi cordless finish nailers run exclusively by 3.0Ah compact lithium-ion battery power, delivering comparable energy at roughly half the weight. These batteries are also equipped with Hitachi’s Multiplex Protection Circuit to prevent over-load, over-charge and over-discharge, which further extends the lifetime of the battery. The cordless nailers in this series also feature Hitachi's Brushless motor technology; for longer run time, less maintenance and increased durability. The driving system features a unique air spring drive system that uses compressed air to drive each nail. This results in zero ramp up time, increased shooting speed, recoil that feels like a pneumatic nailer, quicker response time, better flush driving- even at an angle, and easy maintenance. The NT1850DE cordless 18-gauge brad nailer accepts a versatile 5/8” to 2” range of 18-gauge brad nails. Tackle trim work, furniture assembly and other finish applications with ease, when using the Hitachi NT1850DE. At only 7.3 lbs, this brad nailer is lightweight, well-balanced, and capable of driving up to 1,650 nails per charge. A visual nail reload indicator located on the magazine turns yellow when nail quantities are getting low, to help prevent blank drives. The NT1865DM cordless 16-gauge finish nailer runs 1” to 2-1/2” 16-gauge finish nails, making it the perfect choice for installation of molding, chair rails, cabinetry and other finish applications. Capable of driving up to 1,500 nails per charge, and weighing in at only 7.3 lbs, this cordless finish nailer is among the lightest in its class. A dry fire lock-out feature also prevents the Hitachi NT1865DM finish nailer from activation when the nail count is low. Finally, the NT1865DMA cordless 15-gauge angled finish nailer drives a range of 15-gauge DA type angled finish nails from 1-1/4” to 2-1/2” in length. Not only is the Hitachi NT1865DMA capable of driving up to 1,100 nails per charge, but weighing in at only 7.5 lbs., this cordless finish nailer is also among the lightest in its class. Furthermore, the 34° angle of its magazine allows a user to reach into corners or tight spaces with ease; and an open magazine allows fasteners to be easily viewed, so blank drives can be avoided. As with the 16-gauge model, a dry fire lock-out prevents the NT1865DMA from activation when the nail count is low. For the contractor, remodeler or weekend warrior seeking a quality cordless finish nailer to deliver convenience and reliable performance, look no further than Hitachi’s all-new cordless, Brushless lithium-ion finish nailers.

Makita 18V Cordless Backpack Vacuum XCV05Z

02:26
Makita® has released a powerful and portable clean-up and dust extraction solution with the new 18V X2 LXT® Lithium-Ion (36V) Brushless Cordless 1/2 Gallon HEPA Filter Backpack Vacuum (XCV05Z, Tool Only). The XCV05Z is powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries, giving users the extended run-time of 36V but without leaving the 18V battery platform. The cordless backpack design and efficient HEPA filtration system makes it ideal for cleaning crews, as well as for contractors when used as part of a dust extraction system (tool connecting adapters sold separately). Powerful and Portable  “For cleaning crews on airlines and in schools, hotels, offices, or any other jan-san application, this is a powerful and portable solution that eliminates long and hazardous extension cords that trail a corded backpack vacuum,” said Carlos Quintana, Senior Product Manager, Cordless Products, Makita USA. “It’s also a great dust extraction tool for contractors, bridging the gap between low-capacity on-board dust extraction systems and larger-capacity but less portable wheeled-canister job site vacuums. For applications like overhead concrete drilling from a scissor lift, the XCV05Z is a portable vacuum system with no extension cord, fewer obstructions and greater ease-of-use”. Makita 18V X2 tools allow contractors to use two 18V batteries to take on the most demanding applications, delivering the watt-hours and amp-hours of a 36V battery – but without having to manage multiple battery platforms or investing in larger, heavier higher-voltage batteries. The 18V LXT® batteries used in the XCV05Z are the same 18V batteries a contractor can use on their Makita drill, impact driver, and over 125 other Makita cordless tools. World’s Largest Cordless Tool Line-Up The XCV05Z is part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series. With over 125 tools it is the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. As part of the expanding 18V LXT® Series, Makita offers eleven 18V X2 LXT® (36V) tools powered by two 18V batteries including the new XCV05Z as well as a 2.1 gallon vacuum, recipro saw, dual slide compound miter saw, rotary hammer, circular saw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, chain saw and two blowers. Efficient BL™ Brushless Motor The XCV05Z delivers up to 90 minutes of continuous operation on low setting and 60 minutes on the high setting when using two 18V LXT® 5.0Ah batteries (BL1850B, sold separately). The efficient BL™ Brushless Motor generates 53 CFM of suction power and 28.5” of static water lift. The HEPA filter combined with the filter bag captures large, small and micro-dust particulates, and the half-gallon dust collection container is easily removed for dust disposal. Performance and Ease-of-Use The XCV05Z has a flexible 39” hose, with a telescoping extension wand that provides 20” to 34” of additional reach. The push button power selection controller has high and low settings and attaches to the waist belt of the harness, with an L.E.D. light for improved visibility. The vacuum has a compact design and weighs only 9.4 lbs. (with empty dust bag and two 18V 5.0Ah batteries, batteries sold separately). The padded shoulder straps and waist belt have multiple adjustments for a comfortable fit. Star Protection Computer Controls™ For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita 18V LXT® tools features Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the XCV05Z can be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside, including 18V Lithium-Ion 2.0Ah, 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah, and 5.0Ah batteries, as well as the upcoming 18V 6.0Ah battery (available August 2016).
Refrigerant Charging! Checking the R-22 Refrigerant Charge on AC Condensor! Subcooling Method!

02:03
This is how to check a refrigerant charge using the subcooling method of charging. This is for comfort cooling systems when residential and commercial systems have an thermostatic expansion valve. The outdoor unit will have the required subcooling rating desired on the rating plate and as long as you are within + or - 3 degrees then the charge is correct. I like to have a slightly higher subcooling rating so that there is an extra degree or two of subcooling which could get lost over time do to servicing and checkups. Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer Review

07:07
FULL REVIEW: http://www.toolboxbuzz.com/cordless-tools/nailerstapler/hitachi-np18dsal-23-gauge-cordless-pin-nailer/ Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer Review Pin nailers, like the Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer are an exciting new addition to the market. Pin nailers are the smallest of finish nailers available, utilizing ultra-thin 23-gauge pins. The fasteners range in sizes from 3/8” to 2,” are headless, and result in the least visible hole of all fasteners. Pin nails are GREAT for holding two pieces of wood that have been freshly glued together during the cure time. Their small size, and no-head design make them a fantastic fastener for small, delicate molding, interior millwork, and cabinetry. In the shop I also use pin nails over double sided when template routing and jig making. We took a close look at the Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer. Hitachi 18 V Cordless Pin Nailer The Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer is powered by a lightweight, compact 3.0Ah Lithium Ion battery. It has a built-in counterweight designed to eliminate recoil, which also reduces the force needed to actuate the tool. Hitachi Pin Nailer Features Low battery charge indicator Tool-less depth of drive adjustment Dry-fire lockout Integrated belt hook Ergonomic soft grip handle LED light Tool on/off switch Body rubber bumpers Runtime The 3.0 Ah battery takes approximately 45-minutes to fully charge a depleted battery. As for runtime, this is not a heavy use tool. We used the tool for over a month without charging. Hitachi says this pin nailer is capable of driving up to 3,000 headless pins per charge. Fastener Length The Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer drives pins from 5/8″ to 1-3/8″ in length and can be used to produce nearly invisible holes for a variety of applications including cabinets, paneling, delicate molding and small trim parts. This pin nailer accepts 1 strip of pin nails [100 pins] and can handle the following fastener lengths: 5/8” ¾” 1” 1-3/16” 1-3/8” Hitachi Pin Nailer Weight At 4.4 pounds the Hitachi NP18DSAL 23-Gauge Cordless Pin Nailer is slightly heavier than their pneumatic counterparts, they save weight on the total package since you no longer need to lug around your compressor. The tool itself measures 9-5/8” x 8-15/16” x 3-9/32”. READ MORE: http://www.toolboxbuzz.com/cordless-tools/nailerstapler/hitachi-np18dsal-23-gauge-cordless-pin-nailer/

Hitachi electric screwdriver DB3DL2

06:34
mini review of the Hitachi electric lithium ion screwdriver....i love this thing ! it made assembling my tlr22 and d8t rc cars a breeze, i forget to mention it has spindle lock so even if you run out of battery you can still use it as a manual screwdriver the battery packs uses samsung 18650 li-ion batteries, should you wear out the battery you could possibly put any 18650 battery in there (there is a temp probe but its seems to be separate circuit, as of the video you can get 2.6Ah 18650 batteries) Hitachi DB3DL2 3.6-Volt 1/4-Inch Hex Drive Screwdriver is lightweight and powerful, and is perfect for tradesmen and contractors. Underneath a sink or in-between cabinets, this drill fits in most spaces and is ideal for woodworking and home improvement. The DB3DL2 Screwdriver is powered by a 1.5-amp-hour lithium-ion battery and has 3-times the battery life of traditional batteries. Dual position handle converts from straight to pistol grip for added versatility. This product features a max lock torque of 44-pounds, a spindle lock mechanism and an adjustable clutch with 21-stage torque. In cabinets or underneath sinks, the built-in LED light provides superior visibility and is perfect for unlit closets. The DB3DL2 includes (2) 1.5-amp-hour, 3.6-Volt lithium-ion batteries, a quick charger, a Phillips bit and a storage case. The Hitachi DB3DL2 3.6-Volt 1/4-Inch Hex Drive Screwdriver comes with a lifetime lithium-ion tool warranty and a 2-year lithium-ion battery warranty.

Vax Life / Hoover Linx Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner Demonstration & Review

13:20
In this video I demonstrate the Vax Life cordless vacuum cleaner and test its performance on pet hair pick up from carpets as well as general dust and dirt. I also show pick up performance on a hard floor and demonstrate how to empty and maintain the cleaner. Details below taken from Vax's website. Product Description A revolution in home cleaning, LiFE is the UK's most advanced cordless upright. It's an essential tool for anyone with a busy lifestyle, as it gives you the freedom to quickly clean wherever you want, without the hassles of dealing with a power cord. You'll never need to bend down to change the plug again. Standing out for all the right reasons, LiFE has powerful fade free suction and combines cordless convenience with the suction performance of a conventional upright. It's ideal for apartments or as a companion to a larger family vacuum cleaner and as it's super lightweight, it's very kind to your back. Ultra lightweight If you find large upright vacuum cleaners too heavy and bulky to operate and carry then you'll love LiFE. It weighs an unbelievable 3.4kg--that's less than a few bags of sugar. This means it's light and easy enough for everyone to use. As it has a slim, compact design, it takes up less storage space too. Lithium ion battery provides consistent, fade free power. All the suction performance of a corded upright Advanced Lithium Ion battery Designed with advanced Lithium ion technology, its 18 volt battery maintains consistent strong power until it is completely drained, with none of the ‘slow-fade' of power and suction that you expect from conventional cordless cleaning products. The battery can be charged and used again and again without diminishing the run time. To charge the battery, slide it out the from its slot in the centre of the vacuum cleaner and place in the supplied charging station for just 3 hours, or until the light indicates it has reached full charge. This compares to a charge time of 8 to 16 hours for a vacuum cleaner that uses traditional Ni-CD batteries. Once full, it stops charging to conserve energy and protect the battery. A fully charged battery provides consistent suction for up to 15 minutes, giving you enough runtime to clean all your floors. The three battery fuel gauge lights let you know just how much power you've got left as you clean, so you're never caught short. Full size performance Although LiFE is slim-line, it's no lightweight when it comes to cleaning performance. With this bagless upright, you don't have to compromise for cordless convenience as LiFE offers all the suction of a conventional corded cleaner. Its bagless, single cyclonic filtration technology ensures constant, powerful suction to leave your home looking spotless. LiFE unplugged has two cleaning modes so you can switch between vacuuming hard floors and carpets, at the touch of a button. Simply switch the brushbar on for carpets and off again for hard floors. This convenient feature makes it quick and easy to clean your whole home with the minimum of effort. WindTunnel prevents scatter back by trapping more dust WindTunnel technology Unlike conventional upright vacuums, which can scatter dust (especially around hard floors), patented WindTunnel technology efficiently lifts and traps dirt so it stays in your LiFE vacuum cleaner and not on your floor. The market leading 2-year guarantee* on this vacuum cleaner gives you complete peace of mind. Like all Vax products, LiFE is supported by Vax's UK based Customer Careline open 7 days a week. * Battery and charger also have a 2 year guarantee. Box Contains 1 × Cordless upright vacuum cleaner 1 × Lithium-ion battery 1 × battery charger 1 × Instruction manual

31:17
In this video, I will show you how to revive a dead power tool battery. In my previous video, I showed you a similar method but this one is different. Previously the dead battery still had about 6V (from 18V). This time, this Ryobi battery has ZERO volt. Nothing. Nada. I tried the parallel method as shown in my first video but it did not work. So this time I have go to extreme length to get it working again. First video I did earlier to show you how to fix a Li-ion tool battery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e-RwVawEOs
