Statins and Cholesterol

08:17
Statins are one of the most highly prescribed and commercially successful drugs in modern society, due to their ability to decrease LDL-cholesterol and lower the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Learn more about the history, mechanism, and side effects of statins in this episode of Medicurio. Other lipoprotein particles: You may have heard of LDL cholesterol as "bad" cholesterol because it clogs up the blood vessels with plaque. Its counterpart, HDL or "good" cholesterol does the opposite - HDL particles move throughout the bloodstream and pick up any cholesterol it finds and brings it back to the liver. Often times, plaque formation is dependent on both how much LDL and how little HDL there is in the blood. Statins Mechanism Of Action *Animated*

03:47
STATINS ARE A GROUP OF MEDICATIONS THAT REDUCE CHOLESTEROL LEVELS, THEY WERE DISCOVERED BY AKIRA ENDO IN 1971 A JAPANESE BIOCHEMIST. THERE ARE SEVERAL STATINS IN THE MARKET CURRENTLY WHICH ARE EASY TO REMEMBER BECAUSE THEY ALL END WITH THE SUFFIX STATIN. CHOLESTEROL IS PRODUCED BY THE LIVER AND TRANSPORTED BY LIPOPROTEINS WHICH CONSIST OF TWO TYPES, LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN LDL WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE BAD FAT, IT'S MAIN FUNCTION IS TO TRANSPORT CHOLESTEROL THROUGHOUT THE BODY, THE OTHER TYPE IS HIGH DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN ALSO KNOWN AS GOOD FAT, THIS TYPE OF LIPOPROTEIN REMOVES EXCESS CHOLESTEROL AND CARRIES IT BACK TO THE LIVER FOR DEGRADATION. HOW DOES IT WORK? STATINS WORK BY COMPETITIVELY INHIBIT HMG COENZYME A REDUCTASE THIS ENZYME CATALYZES THE REDUCTION OF HMG COENZYME TO MEVALONATE. WHICH IS THE RATE LIMITING STEP IN HEPATIC CHOLESTEROL BIOSYNTHESIS, INHIBITION OF THIS ENZYME DECREASES CHOLESTEROL SYNTHESIS LEADING TO AN UPREGULATION IN LDL RECEPTORS IN THE LIVER, THIS INCREASES LDL UPTAKE BY THE HEPATOCYTS DECREASING THE AMOUNT OF LDL CHOLESTEROL IN THE BLOOD. WHO SHOULD STATINS BE GIVEN FOR? ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CARDIOLOGY, STATINS ARE GIVEN AS A PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE IN PATIENTS WITH LDL CHOLESTEROL MORE THAN 190 MG/DL. ON AVERAGE STATINS CAN LOWER BLOOD LDL BY 70 MG/DL WHICH TRANSLATES INTO AN ESTIMATED 60% DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF CARDIAC EVENTS LIKE HEART ATTACKS OR SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATHS. CONTRAINDICATIONS OF STATINS, BEING DRUGS THAT ARE METABOLISED AND EXCRETED BY THE LIVER, STATINS ARE CONTRAINDICATED IN CASES OF CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE, OR ELEVATION OF SERUM TRANSAMINASES. STATINS ARE ALSO NOT GIVEN IN PREGNANCY OR LACTATION AS THEY IN CATEGORY X. LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION IS STRONGLY ADVISED TO PATIENTS ON STATINS THESE MODIFICATIONS INCLUDE, LESS CALORIC INTAKE, LOW ANIMAL FAT DIET, AND PHYSICAL EXCERCISE. MONITORING CREATINE KINASE IS IMPORTANT IN PATIENTS TAKING STATIN AS MYOPATHY IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON AND DANGEROUS ADVERSE EFFECT OF THIS CLASS OF MEDICATIONS

Magical Drink to Reduce CHOLESTEROL in 2 weeks Naturally || Works 100% || Homemade ||

Magical drink to reduce cholesterol in 2 weeks. With Only Half Cup A Day You Will Lower Your Cholesterol and Lose Belly Fat Like Crazy!!! With Only 3 Tablespoons A Day You Will Lower Your Cholesterol and Lose Belly Fat Like Crazy!!! Cholesterol is a fatty substance made by your body and found in certain foods. Your body needs some cholesterol in order to function properly, but having too much (high cholesterol) puts you at risk for having a heart attack or stroke. The extra cholesterol that isn’t used by your body builds up in blood vessel walls, causing blockages. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), having high cholesterol doubles your risk of heart disease. Total cholesterol = LDL + HDL + Triglycerides  LDL (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "bad" cholesterol) HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "good" cholesterol) Triglycerides (fats carried in the blood from the food we eat. Excess calories, alcohol, or sugar in the body are converted into triglycerides and stored in fat cells throughout the body.) The good news is that lifestyle changes are effective in helping you reduce cholesterol levels. They’re also fairly straightforward and can be done at any age. Exercise: Physical activity helps you lose weight and boosts your HDL levels. Aim for 30 to 60 minutes a day of moderate cardio. Eat more fiber: Replace white breads and pastas with whole grains. Eat healthy fats: Olive oil, avocado, and nuts all have fats that won’t raise your LDL. Limit cholesterol intake: Reduce the amount of high-saturated fat foods like cheese, whole milk, and high-fat red meats. Quit smoking. It’s important to remember that everyone is different. Family history and whether or not you have other conditions, such as diabetes, plays a role in your individual risks. Talk to your doctor about your cholesterol levels and ask what he or she thinks your numbers should be. how to reduce cholesterol quickly how to lower cholesterol without medication lower cholesterol diet how to lower your cholesterol in 2 days supplements to lower cholesterol how to reduce cholesterol naturally home remedies foods to avoid with high cholesterol how to control cholesterol in indian diet how to prevent heart attack with food how to prevent heart attack naturally how to avoid heart attack while sleeping how to prevent heart attack when alone how to prevent a heart attack while it's happening how to prevent heart attack at night how to prevent heart attack from happening how to avoid heart attack symptoms how to prevent a stroke naturally foods that prevent stroke how to stop a stroke in progress how to prevent a stroke after a mini stroke how to prevent a stroke aspirin how to prevent a stroke or heart attack how to prevent a stroke from happening again stroke prevention diet To view more, click here: https://goo.gl/ONjJau SUBSCRIBE: Click here: https://goo.gl/wsOEBM Connect with me on: Email: muskaanhamad@gmail.com Muskaan Science Academy: https://goo.gl/ndG6eG Google Plus: https://goo.gl/6bNOp4 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/muskaan.hamad Blog: http://beautyandmakeuptips2016.blogspot.com/ Tumblr: https://naturalhomeremedies.tumblr.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/muskaanhamad/ Vine: Search "Muskaan Hamad" on vine! How to Reduce Bad Cholesterol

02:29
Watch more Healthy Eating videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/432350-How-to-Reduce-Bad-Cholesterol A little attention to detail never hurt anyone and may have benefits if it involves monitoring what you put in your body. Reduce your bad cholesterol through simple disciplined measures that are proven to help. Step 1: Disrupt fat with exercise Use exercise to naturally disrupt the metabolism of fat. Eating less helps, but excess body fat will keep cholesterol up until you actually lose pounds by breaking a sweat. Moderate walking and workouts five days a week can raise good cholesterol by 10 percent. Tip The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health suggests everyone 20 and over should check their levels of bad cholesterol every five years. Step 2: Relax and reflect Relax and reflect periodically, rather than give in to the high tension that constricts arteries and raises blood pressure. If you're constantly stressing out, consider making some long-term changes that will eliminate some of your stres for good. Step 3: Get good greens Drink green tea, full of compounds that can help lower bad cholesterol. Eat leafy greens as well, for soluble fiber that sponges up cholesterol in the digestive tract. Step 4: Consume nuts Consume nuts instead of cheese, meat, or croutons in salads. According to the Food and Drug Administration, a daily handful of 42.5 grams of nuts may reduce cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. Step 5: Substitute fish Substitute meat with fish twice or three times weekly. Consuming fish can profoundly lower cholesterol and triglycerides. Step 6: Choose smart fats Select smart fats for your diet, substituting canola or olive oils for vegetable oil, butter, margarine, lard, or shortening. It's not merely fats, but the kind of fats you eat, that make the difference. Tip Eggs do not drastically increase cholesterol. Step 7: Take drugs to lower cholesterol Take a cholesterol-lowering drug if you have evident cardiovascular risks. Beforehand, consider alternatives like niacin, bile acid resins, and fibrates. Step 8: Commit to win Resolve to make changes, and live a healthy lifestyle. It's your life -- only you can make the changes to lower your bad cholesterol. Did You Know? In 2010, researchers identified nearly 100 gene variants possibly linked to as much as one third of hereditary factors influencing cholesterol production.

CRC Press, 1999; pp. 35-47. https://cen.acs.org/articles/87/i23/Story-Statins.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homocysteine ======================================= 💓 Natural Alternatives To Statin Cholesterol Lowering Drugs ======================================= One of the best selling and most profitable drugs for over 2 decades are cholesterol lowering, “statin drugs”. The first “commercially” available, FDA approved statin was introduced over 30 years ago (lovastatin 1997) and this was formulated based on a natural substance, that I’ll reveal to you in a minute. The most popular ones that you’ve probably heard of are Lipitor (Atorvastatin), Crestor (Rosuvastatin) and Zocor (Simvastatin). Muscle pain AND damage. Just keep in mind that your body, including your HEART is functional ONLY because of your muscles. Liver Damage 80% of your cholesterol is made within the liver, NOT from the foods you eat. These drugs go inside your liver, prevent the formation of cholesterol and in the process, DAMAGE your liver. Elevated Blood Sugar and Type 2 Diabetes One of the worst things for again and every problem in your body is high blood sugar and insulin levels. Neurological Problems Sure, it causes depression, anxiety, panic attacks, worry, etc., etc. I’m not even going to get into arthritis, elevated blood pressure and probably the WORST problem of all - hormonal imbalances. Natural Alternatives So let’s get right to it, I’ll make this quick. First, your goal is NOT to have “low” cholesterol, you want HEALTHY cholesterol levels. Additionally and more importantly, you ALSO want optimal ratios of your HDL (“good” cholesterol/lipoprotein) and LDL (“bad” cholesterol/lipoprotein). Well, that’s from Red Yeast Rice, which is a common food in Asia. The natural form of this extract, in small doses, has all the positive “cholesterol lowering” benefits, but without the negatives of the synthetic drugs. Other Cholesterol Optimizing Herbs Other clinically proven, natural herbal extracts that promote health cholesterol levels and balanced lipid levels, which are: Artichoke Leaf Extract Phytosterols Complex Garlic Policosanol Instead of taking thyroid drugs, I suggest taking Guggulsterones (10% Pure Extract; E and Z) Iodine (Kelp Extract) Cleanse Your Liver As stated earlier, most people don’t know that 80% of your cholesterol is created within your body, by your liver… and NOT from the foods you eat. This is why many times, the change in your diet doesn’t make dramatic improvements in cholesterol levels. Thus, the stronger your liver, the easier your body will eliminate and detox “excess cholesterol” from your blood. The irony is that ALL drugs, especially statins, cause liver damage and thus, will eventually increase your cholesterol levels. But, since this is almost impossible for most people, I suggest you take Milk Thistle (80% Extract) NAC (N-Acetyl L-Cysteine) - which also boost your immune system. R+ Alpha Lipoic Acid (r+ ALA) - which also helps lower your blood sugar. Reduce Homocysteine Levels All doctors are so focused on improving cholesterol to help you avoid heart disease, a heart attack or stroke -- that they forget (or don’t KNOW!) about something super important and that’s your Homocysteine Levels. In fact, researchers now believe that testing homocysteine levels is over 47% more accurate at predicting heart disease, than checking cholesterol. The cool part is that you can easily and quickly improve Homocysteine levels by simply taking a specific ratio of certain B-Vitamins Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCL) Vitamin B12 (as methylcobalamin) Folate (as 5-Methyl-tetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF)) Vitamin B5 [Pantesin® d-Pantethine (special form of B5)] Reduce Inflammation Finally, one of the leading causes of many illnesses and diseases is inflammation. And there are a few ingredients that’ll help reduce it, 3 of my favorites are: Turmeric (95% curcuminoids Extract) Ginger (10% extract) Mixed Vit. E - Tocotrienols (90% Delta &10% Gamma Tocotrienols) ======================================== Thank you for watching. Please feel free to comment, like or share with your friends. Rosuvastatin (Crestor)Usage, Side Effects, Dose, Packing , benifits etc

05:48
ype of medicine A lipid-regulating medicine commonly known as a statin Used for Lowering cholesterol and other lipids in the blood; to reduce the risk of heart and blood vessel disease Also called Crestor® Available as Tablets Lipids, or fats, are made naturally in your body from the food you eat. They are easily stored in your body and serve as a source of energy. Cholesterol and triglycerides are types of lipid. If the concentration of these lipids in your blood becomes too high, it leads to a condition called hyperlipidaemia. If it is the concentration of cholesterol which has become too high, it is called hypercholesterolaemia. Although a high blood concentration of lipids will not make you feel ill, it can cause a problem if it is left untreated. People with high lipid levels can develop small fatty patches called atheroma. These patches develop when excess fat is deposited on to the walls of blood vessels. Over time, these patches can make a blood vessel narrower and this is called atherosclerosis (sometimes referred to as 'hardening of the arteries'). The narrowing reduces the blood flow through the artery and increases the risk of a number of heart and blood vessel diseases, such as heart attack and stroke. Rosuvastatin belongs to a group of medicines known as statins (or HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors). It regulates the amount of cholesterol and other lipids made by your body. It does this by blocking the action of a certain enzyme (called HMG-CoA reductase) which your body needs to make the fats. This lowers your risk of heart and blood vessel disease. It can also reduce this risk, even if your cholesterol levels are normal, if you are at an increased risk of heart disease. Before you start the treatment, read the manufacturer's printed information leaflet from inside the pack. It will give you more information about rosuvastatin and will provide you with a full list of the side-effects which you may experience from taking it. Take rosuvastatin once each day, exactly as your doctor tells you to. You will be started on a dose of 5 mg or 10 mg daily. If you are of Asian origin or over 70 years old, you will need to take the lower 5 mg dose to start with. Some other people will also need to take this lower dose at first. Your doctor will increase your dose after four weeks of treatment if this is considered necessary. There are several strengths of tablet available, so your doctor will tell you which strength is right for you.Common rosuvastatin side-effects (these affect less than 1 in 10 people) What can I do if I experience this? Muscle pain or tenderness Although this may not be anything to be concerned about, you should tell your doctor about this. This is because there is a rare but serious side-effect of rosuvastatin which is a severe form of muscle inflammation Headache Drink plenty of water and ask your pharmacist to recommend a suitable painkiller. If the headaches continue, let your doctor know Constipation Try to eat a well-balanced diet and drink several glasses of water each day Feeling sick, tummy (abdominal) pain Stick to simple meals - avoid rich or spicy food Disturbed sleep, feeling dizzy or tired Speak with your doctor if troublesome

Normal Cholesterol Level - 5

http://FoodsHighInCholesterol.info -- Do you know your Normal Cholesterol Level? I had a Cholesterol Check recently, a Fasting Cholesterol type - 12 hours with no food ! When I got my Cholesterol Readings - guess what! - High Cholestrol ! My favourite Shell Fish is on my BANNED LIST but I found this article which says its actually good for my HDL cholesterol :- http://www.articlesbase.com/nutrition-articles/foods-high-in-cholesterol-good-or-bad-the-shellfish-debate-1605513.html I knew that I should go on a Diet For High Cholesterol or at least a Diet To Lower Cholesterol with Cholesterol Lowering Foods but the advice from doctors is very confusing. I knew there would be a link between my Cholesterol and Diet but all these High Cholesterol Diets are different. Should I go for a Cholesterol Free Diet or a Low Fat Low Cholesterol Diet. I thought that I would just have to avoid Foods High In Cholesterol but apparently not, it seems that the best way for Lowering Cholestrol is not Cholesterol Diet Food but to do with the saturated fats in foods. So to Lower Cholestrol I'm going to look at an LDL Diet which will get rid of my High Cholesteral.

Dr. Duane Graveline (M.D., M.P.H) is a physician, a flight surgeon and former astronaut. One year NASA was doing a yearly physical on him. He passed all the tests (physical, cognitive, etc.). Yet, they noticed his cholesterol was in the “high” range and told him to take Lipitor (atorvastatin) - a cholesterol lowering statin drug. Six weeks later, he had severe memory problems, so bad that he had short term, global amnesia (TGA). Additionally, when NASA retested him, his cholesterol was lower and he passed that test … yet he failed the cognitive test and he wasn’t allowed to go to space. Dr. Graveline decided to get off Lipitor, despite the fact other physicians, doctors and pharmacists said it couldn’t be Lipitor causing these problems. A year later, when it was his next annual NASA physical, they again told him to take Lipitor, but this time at half the dosage. So, Dr. Graveline reluctantly followed their recommendation. This second time, the results were even worse - amnesia PLUS “retrograde loss of memory” going back to his high school years. Yes, his memory loss was even more severe. He again stopped taking Lipitor and wrote about this situation in a book called, “Lipitor Thief of Memory” which was written in 2005. Which also includes liver damage, high blood pressure, arthritis, elevated blood sugar levels, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, muscle loss and lowered sex drive and impotence, to name a few. Add to the fact that my dad’s mom (my grandmother) had Alzheimer’s, I didn’t want to risk it and got my dad off of Lipitor … against his doctor’s orders. Instead, I decided to research, natural, safe and healthy ingredients and alternatives for having healthy cholesterol levels. And that’s what I’m going to reveal today. Natural Alternatives So let’s get right to it, I’ll make this quick. First, your goal is NOT to have “low” cholesterol, you want HEALTHY cholesterol levels. Now, one of my favorite natural ingredients to help improve cholesterol levels is called, Red Yeast Rice, which is a common food in Asia. In fact, this is a natural statin. However, the “secret” to using Red Yeast Rice is you only want to use it in small doses. Plus, you must use the “extract” form, not the “root” or “powder” form which is worthless. And finally, you want to make sure that the “toxic” by-product, Citrinin is removed. Any other form either won’t work or you’ll need such a high dose that you’ll have statin side-effects - obviously, no where near as bad as Lipitor. Again, keep in mind that if you ONLY use Red Yeast Rice to improve your cholesterol levels, you’ll need to use a high dosage, which will eventually lead to some of the same, statin side-effects. THIS is the real secret to having healthy cholesterol levels, naturally - without drugs. Other Cholesterol Optimizing Herbs Other clinically proven, natural herbal extracts that promote healthy cholesterol levels and balanced lipid levels, which are: Artichoke Leaf Extract (15% Chlorogenic Acid, 5% Cynarin) Phytosterols Complex (40% extract from non-GMO pine tree extract) Garlic (Extract 5% alliin) Policosanol (from Sugar Cane - Saccharum species) Improve Your Thyroid Cleanse Your Liver Did you know that 80% of the cholesterol in your body is made by your liver, and NOT from the foods you eat? This is why many times, the change in your diet doesn’t make dramatic improvements in cholesterol levels. The irony is that ALL drugs, especially statins, cause liver damage and thus, will eventually increase your cholesterol levels and this is why you keep having to increase the dosage of these drugs. So make sure you try to eliminate anything that stresses your liver - this includes all drugs, including alcohol and caffeine. Cholesterol, Statins, The Truth Revealed! Part 1 - MUST SEE!

http://www.TrypnauralMeditation.com/blog for more free articles, tips and cutting edge health advice. Pharmacist and Natural Health Consultant Niraj Naik MPharm attempts to give cholesterol, a substance found in every human being, a fair trial, as it has for many years been accused of causing heart disease. This is a talk held for the Yoga Teachers, Traditional Yoga Association, UK 2011 After many years of research during his work as a pharmacist he felt there was something not quite right with the hypothesis that high cholesterol and saturated fat leads to heart disease. Due to the enormous number of side effects his patients were suffering from after using the blockbuster heart drugs, statins, he was further motivated to seek alternatives to help them. His work uncovers the ugly truth that the perhaps the current cholesterol hypothesis is a blatant lie, with the truth about what really causes heart disease being hidden from the public for the benefit of corporate profit. Part 1: Niraj shows the evidence from both sides, so you can make an informed decision on whether or not cholesterol is to blame for the cause of heart disease. Part 2: Niraj explains the new and probably more likely hypothesis for what really causes heart disease. Unfortunately it is more complex than the culprit being a single molecule, allowing a drug to be designed to alter its function or levels in the blood. Instead a more holistic and natural treatment is necessary for the prevention of heart disease, and some options are revealed that are completely drug and side effect free with compelling evidence to support that backs them. 🥥 HDL - 15 Foods Proven To Increase Your Good Cholesterol

If you want to see more foods, then you should also see these 5 WORST high cholesterol foods: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QyL7WydW_c How my parents lowered their cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs: 👉 http://drsam.co/yt/Improve-Cholesterol =============================================== 🥥 HDL - 15 Foods Proven To Increase Your Good Cholesterol =============================================== #cholesterol The past 3-4 years, my mom’s cholesterol has been between 225 to the highest of 243 (mg/dL). According to the numbers based on what you “should” have, my mom has HIGH cholesterol. Ideally, you’re *supposed* to have your total cholesterol under 200 and anything over 240 is “high”. And for those of you who know me, you’re probably shocked that I would ever allow her numbers to get so high. On top of it, why hasn’t her cardiologist prescribed her a statin cholesterol lowering drug such as Lipitor, Crestor or Zocor? Well, this is because her “good” HDL cholesterol (High-density lipoprotein) is crazy high and off the charts - averaging around 115 mg/dL. According to the stats, you want your HDL to be over 40 and my mom’s is almost 3x the amount! And because of this, her cardiologist said “Sam, I honestly don’t care at all what her total cholesterol is, with HDL levels that high - she’s got nothing to worry about” And yes, he’s done all the tests and checked her arteries and everything. Things have only improved and gotten better in the past 20 years. And the reason both her cardiologist and myself have no concern is because your HDL (High-density lipoprotein) is like a vacuum cleaner for cholesterol in the body. When it’s at healthy levels in your blood, it removes extra cholesterol and plaque buildup in your arteries and then sends it to your liver. Your liver then expels it from your body. Ultimately, this will help reduce your risk of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. This is what keeps your “bad” LDL cholesterol in check. It’s the ratio that matters and the higher your HDL, the better and less concern with your LDL. So, with said, let me give some of the foods my mom eats that have improved her HDL cholesterol from about 50 mg/dL to what it is now, 20 years later -- 115 mg/dL Healthy Fats: I’ve changed the type of fats my mom eats. She’s almost eliminated all the regular vegetable and seed oils you see at the supermarket - such as canola, corn, sunflower, soybean and so forth, to eating fats such as Extra Virgin Olive Oil Macadamia Nut Oil Avocados Flaxseed Oil (Udo’s Oil is my favorite) Walnuts She has about 25% - 40% of her diet from these healthy fats Healthy Proteins: I’ve actually reduced her protein intake. She has eliminated all dairy - no milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. She eats: Salmon - 3x weekly Pasture Raised Bison/Buffalo - 1x weekly Pasture Raised Whole Eggs - 4 - 6 eggs weekly Pasture Raised Chicken - 1x weekly Vegetable protein powder - 2x weekly (no soy) It’s not much protein at all, maybe just one meal daily. The rest her protein will comes from plant based, vegetables, beans and so forth. Healthy Carbohydrates: Everyone is afraid of carbs these days, but you shouldn’t be at all. My mom has reduced “bad” carbs such as cereals, pastries, pastas, breads and so forth. Anything that’s packaged, “man-made” and has a long shelf life, which contains a ton of ingredients. You want natural carbs She now eats: White or wild rice (her favorite) Quinoa Beans and Legumes - black beans and lentils are her favorite, cooked in a pressure cooker to remove lectins which cause inflammation Fruit - NO juice, whole fruit Vegetables - she’s not a fan, but will eat some broccoli, carrots and spinach mainly And that’s it for the diet. Water, Tea and CholesLo She drinks more water these days, but not as much as she should. She loves her tea (Earl Grey and green tea). Of course, she still takes CholesLo daily. But she’s increased her dosage as she’s gotten older, which has made additional improvements in her lipid levels… Lowering triglycerides Decreasing Homocysteine Levels Improving HDL/LDL ratios dramatically Cleansing and detoxing her liver, where 80% of your cholesterol is made (NOT from the foods you eat) Reducing inflammation and blood sugar ======================================== ======================================== Subscribe to Dr.Sam Robbins's official Youtube channel http://drsam.co/yt/subscribe Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DrSamRobbins ========================================= Thanks DrSamRobbins

Cholesterol Animation: Stop Killing Yourself With Statins (Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor)

03:11
Statin drugs block cells from replicating. This induces a life-saving reflex in cells which causes cholesterol to exit the blood and enter the cells of tissues and organs. Blood cholesterol lowers (your doctor is happy!) but cells are being poisoned by cholesterol toxicity and by blocking DNA replication and cell reproduction. All cells die and that is why they replicate. If cells cannot replicate, they die. There are various ways that statin drugs, for lowering blood cholesterol, kill cells -- and you are the sum of your cells. Read all about how you've been sold a deadly bill of goods in the easy-read book "Serial Killers" or the expanded book written for concerned attorneys and caring physicians: "How Statin Drugs REALLY Lower Cholesterol (And Kill You One Cell at a Time)" available at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

Livalo (pitavastatin) vs Crestor (rosuvastatin)?; How to decide: benefits, risks and price

Livalo (pitavastatin) is a newcomer to the statin market. It brings many advantages with improvements in LDL, HDL, muscle damage side effects, and even glucose/HgA1c values. So why have I not given it? My treatment priority is inflammation, the immediate cause of heart attack and stroke. With statins, my priority has not been LDL and DM treatment. Livalo has no known impact on inflammation. Ford Brewer is a physician that started as an Emergency Doctor. Do Statins Cause Side Effects? 4 Natural Ways to Lower Cholesterol Instead

06:18
How to lower your cholesterol so you can avoid needing statins. Many people complain of side effects from statins, despite claims they are safe. In this video I reveal the reason why statins may cause side effects and how to prevent them. Millions of people take statins daily to lower our cholesterol and to avoid the danger of a stroke or fatal heart attack. Their effectiveness at lowering cholesterol is proven. But many people believe they may cause unpleasant side effects. This includes muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, memory loss, low sex drive, depression and a higher risk of infections. However, according to a controversial study published on The Lancet website, these side effects are in people’s heads. While other research has suggested that the side effects may be an unintended consequence of how statins work. According to Dr. John Briffa, a practicing doctor, author and international speaker, “while statins may ‘save lives’ in the relative short-term by reducing the risk of, say, heart attacks, they may possibly cause some people to perish in the long term.” You should NEVER stop taking statins without consulting your doctor first. They may, in fact, be protecting you from a heart attack or stroke. But by following these steps may help to lower your cholesterol and potentially help you avoid needing statins at all: 1. Eliminate trans fats from your diet. Trans fats are found in fried foods and many everyday snacks, like cookies. They can be lethal at increasing bad LDL cholesterol and destroying good HDL cholesterol.(6) 2. Get 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily. This will help raise good HDL cholesterol and to help you get rid of dangerous belly fat. To help you stay motivated, why not join a walking or cycling group in your area to make your exercise more sociable and fun, as well as healthy. 3. Give up smoking If you can quit, within one year your risk of heart disease may be half that of a smoker. And within 15 years, your risk of heart disease may be like that of someone who never smoked. 4. Drink alcohol in moderation. We already know that regular heavy drinking can cause high blood pressure, heart failure and strokes. And recent studies suggest it may cause memory loss and dementia too.(8) Even if you don’t suffer from side effects, you need to know that statins have been found to block the production of THREE key nutrients in the gut, along with cholesterol. These are nutrients that feed our body and brain’s with energy, neutralize free radicals, improve heart health and repair cell damage. So when you deplete these nutrients in your body, it may have all sorts of unintended consequences. Thankfully, there is a way of naturally boosting the nutrients that are depleted by statins, to help avoid the risk of side effects and future health problems. On the Erudite Lifestyle website, we have an article that explains what these nutrients are, what they do in your body and a drug-free way of replenishing them safely, which can also lower your cholesterol. So if you are currently taking statins and have noticed any muscle pain, a lack of energy, poor memory, low sex drive or depression, then I recommend checking out our article to find out the possible reason why: http://eruditelifestyle.co.uk/real-reason-statins-may-cause-side-effects-help-avoid References 1. http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/side-effects-of-statin-drugs 2. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/may/02/statin-side-effects-down-to-negative-expectations-not-the-drugs-nocebo 3.http://www.drbriffa.com/2013/05/30/statins-deplete-the-body-of-a-nutrient-that-is-vital-for-heart-function/ 4. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/18/south-american-tribe-found-have-healthiest-hearts-ever-studied/ 5. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/22/one-in-four-americans-over-45-take-this-common-drug-that-causes-diabetes.aspx 6. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/trans-fat/art-20046114 7. http://www.who.int/tobacco/quitting/benefits/en/ 8. https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/info/20007/types_of_dementia/14/alcohol-related_brain_damage_including_korsakoffs_syndrome 9. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/18/south-american-tribe-found-have-healthiest-hearts-ever-studied/ 10. http://eruditelifestyle.co.uk/real-reason-statins-may-cause-side-effects-help-avoid Disclaimer - Supplements are not magic pills. Statin Scam Exposed: Cholesterol Drugs Cause Rapid Aging, Brain Damage And Diabetes

04:06
Statin Scam Exposed: Cholesterol Drugs Cause Rapid Aging, Brain Damage And Diabetes Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11 Statins are a treatment prescribed in the case of high “bad” cholesterol levels, as a way to reduce them and support heart health. However, a recent study has shown that they are far more harmful than beneficial. Statin drugs, like Crestor, Lipitor, and Zocor, are often prescribed, and only in the United States, more than $374 billion are spent on them in the year 2014. They are quite expensive, but consumers should worry about much more than the price. According to a study published in the American Journal of Physiology, statins “…impact on other biologic properties of stem cells provides a novel explanation for their adverse clinical effects. “ Hence, the side effects of these drugs include accelerated “process of aging” and the “…long-term use of statins has been associated with adverse effects including myopathy, neurological side effects and an increased risk of diabetes.” Myopathy is a condition of skeletal muscle weakness. Moreover, researchers have found the health issues caused by statins have been downplayed recently. People taking statins often experience muscle pain, memory loss, fatigue, liver damage, and cataracts. Also, statins wreak havoc in cells as they obstruct the repair process of the body. As stated by the professor Reza Izadpanah, a stem cell biologist and lead author of the published study, “Our study shows statins may speed up the aging process. People who use statins as a preventative medicine for [health] should think again as our research shows they may have general unwanted effects on the body which could include muscle pain, nerve problems, and joint problems.” Yet, even though statins are related to multiple side-effects, FDA claims they are safe and effective. At the same time, their online site maintains that “Cognitive (brain-related) impairment, such as memory loss, forgetfulness, and confusion, has been reported by some statin users” and that “People being treated with statins may have an increased risk of raised blood sugar levels and the development of Type 2 diabetes.” The site focuses on the advice of Amy G. Egan, M.D., M.P.H., the deputy director for safety in the FDA’s Division of Metabolism and Endocrinology Products (DMEP), who claims that: “This new information should not scare people off statins. Their benefit is indisputable, but they need to be taken with care and knowledge of their side effects.” However, the findings of recent studies indicate that there is a need for further research on the effects of prescription drugs, as they are linked to numerous adverse effects. Another similar study on the adolescent antidepressant “Paxil” found some rather disturbing facts as well. Namely, scientists have found certain flaws in the original study. They found that the drug is neither safe nor efficient. Hence, Brian Nosek, a professor of psychology at the University of Virginia believes that it “signals that the community is waking up, checking its work and doing what science is supposed to do — self-correct.” ====================================== statin drugs ,what are statin drugs ,cholesterol drugs ,new cholesterol drug ,statin drugs side effects ,list of statin drugs ,cholesterol lowering drugs ,cholesterol drugs list ,cholesterol reducing drugs ,non statin cholesterol drugs ,cholesterol drugs side effects ,side effects of cholesterol lowering drugs ,statin drugs for cholesterol ,statin drugs and memory loss ,dangers of statin drugs ,statin drugs and diabetes https://youtu.be/jc3h3x5KV1s Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11

New Cholesterol Drug Called More Effective Than Statins

02:05
Millions of people around the world at risk for disease are taking a statin drug to help lower bad cholesterol, known as LDL [Low Density Lipoprotein]. But statin drugs are not as effective in raising HDL [High Density Lipoprotein], the good cholesterol in the blood that helps fight disease. Now doctors are excited about a new drug that dramatically increases those HDL levels. But as VOA's Melinda Smith reports, patients may still have to wait a few years before the drug is available to the public.

Cholesterol, Statins, The Truth Revealed! Part 2

42:39
Side Effects Of Cholesterol Medicine

03:10
Hi! I'm robo-Suzie and today I'll talk to you about Side Effects Of Cholesterol Medicine. Also don't forget to subscribe for more tips in the future! But back to our topic. Any prescription medication can have side effects. Most of these are not pleasant. The reasoning of why we put up with these side effects is that it is better to deal with them than the condition which the medication treats - in this case, elevated cholesterol levels. Such drugs work to lower cholesterol which, in turn, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. There are two popular classes of drugs used to treat high cholesterol. They are specifically aimed at lowering LDL cholesterol. One is the group known as statins and the others are bile acid sequestrants. The most well known of the latter group is Niacin (nicotinic acid) which comes in both prescription form and as a dietary supplement. Popular statin brands are Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor, and Pravachol. Both classes of cholesterol medicine can have troublesome side effects. Higher doses of statins may be associated with a greater risk of side effects such that side effects tend to be dose-related and may disappear after reducing the dosage or, if necessary, withdrawing the medication. However, even if side effects are experienced, cholesterol medication should not normally be discontinued without consulting a physician. But speak to your doctor immediately. Do not wait for your next visit. Side Effects Of Cholesetrol Lowering Drugs include: Constipation. Nausea. Loss of appetite. Pain in the upper right part of the stomach. Fever. Flu-like symptoms. Hoarseness. Extreme tiredness. Lack of energy. Rash, hives or itching. Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness. Yellowing of the skin or eyes. Unusual bleeding or bruising. Difficulty breathing or swallowing. Swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs. Lowering Cholesterol Medication Should Not Be Taken In Isolation. In addition to taking a cholesterol-lowering medication, making certain changes in your daily lifestyle can also lower your cholesterol blood levels. Eating a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol with little to no grains and sugars and exercising for 30 minutes on most, if not all days, will make a big difference. As will losing weight if you are overweight. Eliminating sugar and grains will inevitably cause beneficial side effects, such as normalizing your weight, increasing your energy and lowering your blood pressure and triglycerides. Lifestyle changes will work in the majority of cases of high cholesterol so why not try those first and give yourself the chance to avoid the cholesterol medicine side effects. Your physician will be able to advise you on this. That's it! Thank you. Please subscribe, comment and like this video if it was helpful! See you soon!

Taking Lipitor? Consider CV inflammation

13:14
ford brewer md mph PrevMedHeartRisk.com Inflammation was shown to be an independent risk factor for heart attack and stroke for years. Even in the MRFIT study and Framingham, over 20 years ago - showed that elevated CRP causes heart attack and stroke. Paul Ridker and Gavin Blake noticed in the WOSCOP trial that the decrease in heart attacks and stroke were higher than you'd expect from the impact on LDL and the minor impact on the size of the plaque. Also, they noticed an improvement in the major available marker for inflammation (at that time) C reactive Protein. So they designed the JUPITER study and published it in the New England Journal. They selected only people with low LDL and high CRP. They had a big decrease in heart attack and stroke. Paul Ridker made the headlines in August 2017 with the topic of inflammation and CV risk. The study was CANTOS, using the major anti inflammatory drug Ilaris. It made a big decrease in not only heart attack and stroke, but even with cancer. Unfortunately, the number of lives saved from prevented heart attacks, strokes and cancer were all given back with increased deaths due to serious infection. That's not surprising; Ilaris is a heavy duty anti inflammatory used to stop inflammation associated with major auto immune diseases. That level of anti inflammation is likely to cripple the body's immune system. In these cases, it resulted in death due to serious infection. David Diamond - An Update on Demonization and Deception in Research on Saturated Fat...

59:14
This lecture is part of the IHMC Evening Lecture series. https://www.ihmc.us/life/evening_lectures/ For the past 60 years there has been a concerted effort to demonize saturated fats, found in animal products and tropical oils, and cholesterol, in our food and blood. Despite the well-established health benefits of diets rich in cholesterol and saturated fat, flawed, deceptive and biased research has created the myth that a low fat, plant-based diet is ideal for good health. I will deliver an update on a talk I gave 2 years ago at the IHMC in Ocala, which will provide a historical perspective on how poorly conducted epidemiological research, U.S. government intervention and misinformation conveyed by contemporary lifestyle researchers have contributed to the current state of confusion on dietary influences on health. In addition, I will discuss how biased research has created the false appearance that high levels of serum cholesterol cause heart disease. I will describe how researchers have used deceptive statistics to give health care providers and the public the false impression that statins produce a dramatic reduction in the incidence of cardiovascular disease and mortality. I will point out that the miniscule benefits of statins are offset by their well-documented adverse effects, such as promoting the development of type 2 diabetes, cognitive impairments, cataracts, muscle pain and wasting, and increased incidence of cancer. This talk will serve as a wake-up call for the public to educate themselves as to how to optimize their diet and cardiovascular health. David. M. Diamond received his Ph.D. in Biology in 1985, with a specialization in Behavioral Neuroscience, from the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory at the University of California, Irvine. He is a professor in the Departments of Psychology and Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida, where he has directed his research program on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Diamond has served on federal government study sections and committees evaluating research on the neurobiology of stress and memory, and has over 100 publications, reviews and book chapters on the brain and memory. He has served on the editorial boards of numerous medical journals and has received 30 years of federally funded support for his research. In the past decade, Dr. Diamond has expanded his research program to include cardiovascular disease and nutrition. His controversial research is an extension of an advanced seminar he directs at the University of South Florida entitled “Myths and Deception in Medical Research”, which emphasizes the critical evaluation of methods and conflicts of interest in health-related research. In recent years he added to his list of publications controversial papers on diet, cholesterol and statins, including one paper published in the peer-reviewed medical journal “Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology”, which described the deceptive practices employed by researchers promoting statins for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Diamond has been invited to present his myth-busting views on nutrition and cholesterol to lay people and physicians at nutrition, cardiology, obesity and diabetes conferences all over the world.
