5 Natural Sugar Alternatives To Cut Calories, Reduce Cancer Risk & So Much More
Sugary treats can seem like a best friend, we turn to them to comfort us when things get too stressful, when rewarding ourselves for a job well done, or when celebrating life’s big events. However, sugar might just be your worst enemy! It may not surprise you that too much refined-sugar can lead to weight gain, tooth decay and diabetes, but did you also know that it is linked to impaired brain function, depression and anxiety, cancer and heart disease? Here are 5 tasty natural alternatives to refined-sugar which are also rich in nutrients. 1.Maple Syrup Harvested from the sap of the Maple Tree, this all-natural sweetener – which contains 54 beneficial compounds – has been consumed for centuries. Low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium, maple-syrup is an excellent source of manganese, as well as a good source of zinc, which is excellent for boosting the immune-system. Maple syrup can be used on more than just pancakes – use it to sweeten cookie and muffin mixes or in jams in place of sugar, and add a teaspoon to your coffee if you need that sweet morning kick. 2.Stevia Stevia is one of the biggest sugar substitutes around and is extensively used in dairy, baked goods, confectionery, beverages, snacks and more. Harvested from the stevia plant, it’s been around for centuries and used in South America for its medicinal properties. Available in liquid drops, dissolvable tablets, and powdered form, stevia can be used in tea or coffee, lemonades, homemade puddings, etc. 3.Dates Known as ‘nature’s candy, dates are deliciously satisfying. Low in calories, they are an excellent source of dietary fiber and important minerals like potassium, manganese, magnesium and copper. They also provide some calcium, iron, Vitamin-K, vitamin B-6 and folate. With a low glycemic index, dates are an ideal substitute for refined sugar. add one to your morning smoothie for an energy boost or make date puree by soaking dates overnight and substitute this paste for sugar when baking. 4.Coconut Sugar Made from the sap of the coconut plant, this natural sugar boasts an impressive amount of nutrients like iron, zinc, calcium and potassium, as well as short chain fatty-acids, polyphenols and antioxidants that may also bring health benefits. Coconut sugar has a low GI, of 35, which means it won’t cause the blood sugar spikes that leave you feeling drained of energy. It also contains a fiber called Inulin, which may slow glucose absorption and acts as a prebiotic, supporting gut health, metabolism, and immunity. 5.Honey This ancient natural food, while high in fructose and calories, is also extremely high in antioxidants and contains elements such as zinc and selenium, as well as vitamins. Not all honeys are created equal though – avoid the mass-produced sweetener you find in the supermarket and buy only raw, organic, local honey. Not only will you help save the bees but you’ll avail of some fantastic health benefits too. Swap sugar for honey in tea, on toast, with your morning oatmeal and in baking. Once the main cancer tumor has been destroyed, the cancer stem cells step back and wait. 18:27 The more we quiet inflammation and regulate blood sugar, the less likely it is that cancer stem cells will activate. 19:19 Secondary prevention includes and goes beyond diet and lifestyle. Other issues must be addressed: immune issues, chronic infections in the lymphatic system, toxin burdens, and hormonal aberrations. 24:36 Aberrant thoughts affect the immune system. 28:03 Cancer stem cells stay with the blueprint and the rest are the soldier cancer cells that we see. The stem cells, are generally not affected by the treatment that destroys the soldiers. 29:53 Cancer stem cells have the ability to recruit and program normal cells. The harder we hit the cancer soldier stem cells with chemo radiation, the more the stem cells back away from the area and wait. 31:06 The strategy is to keep cancer stem cells happy and quiet. 33:44 A very low carb or keto diet was a common link in cancer patients that did the best with their therapies, longer remissions or no recurrence. 37:13 Research has found that integrative cancer therapies extended lifespan, compared to only standard therapy. 41:29 Work with at least two practitioners to get many options and varied care. 49:07 By the time we can see a cancer tumor with imaging, it has been growing slowly for 5 to 10 years or longer. 51:00 Prescreening tests are getting better. Next generation testing, which still has some gaps, looks for things like circulating cancer cells. 52:06 Some traditional testing of non-specific inflammatory markers show metabolic shifts to an inflammatory milieu or a milieu that shows Warburg Effect. 58:38 Thermography, when done correctly, can detect and track cancer. 01:03:28 Dr. Anderson tests all cancer survivors for chronic infection, including the family of HHV, mycoplasma, c pneumoniae and more. 01:05:21 People who eat mushrooms regularly have lower rates of certain cancers. Some cancers that do not respond to anything else, will respond to mushrooms. 01:10:45 High protein intake and low quality protein sources can bring you out of cancer fighting mode and out of ketosis. Poor quality protein, and food in general, can bring toxins into your body. 01:14:18 The ideal morning routine for preventing cancer starts with a quiet mind and centering. Exercise in the morning for the brain and body. Hydrate. 01:18:27 Dr. Anderson would choose curcumin as his desert island supplement. Curcumin levels out cytokines and triggering molecules. 01:22:33 Dr. Anderson’s elevator pitch: keep people from developing cancer to is to get them to do the things that bring their metabolism back to its intended balance.

"You have cancer" are 3 words that nobody wishes to hear. With improvements in therapy, cancer isn't always a death sentence although it does bring challenging times and sometimes a lot of health struggles that the individual must overcome. According to the Cancer Cure Foundation, getting adequate nutrition will help minimize side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer therapy, like nausea, weight loss and vomiting. 12 Foods To Fight Cancer (For Cancer Patients)
1: Oily Fish Fish oil will provide long chain omega-3, a powerful anti-inflammatory in the body that minimizes COX-2 and its abilities to drive localised negative hormones called eicosanoids which cause inflammation - driving cancer and metastases. 2: Carotenoids - Carrots, peppers and greens Along with apricots, red and yellow peppers, greens like kale and spinach and sweet potatoes, carrots provide anti-cancer carotenoids like beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A, as and when required by the body. 3: Ginger Fresh, raw ginger has a number of very important benefits in cancer. It is a terrific anti-inflammatory agent in the body and reduces the effects of COX-2. 4: Seeds Seeds are full of good oils, whole vitamins in a natural form (like vitamin E) and fibre to strengthen your gut flora. People who consume the highest levels of natural fibre have higher immune systems. For example: Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sesame Seeds. 5: Nuts Six cracked brazil nuts will give you your daily selenium; 100 to 200 mcgs is the goal. Selenium is a very potent anti-cancer agent. Eight slices of wholemeal bread, an organic egg, or a large chicken breast will also be enough. (Tuna, onions, broccoli and tomatoes contain selenium too.) 6: Mushrooms There´s an enormous body of research evidence now that shows how ´medicinal´ mushrooms (Shiitake, Maiitake, cordyceps etc) boost the immune system and fight cancer. Even the button mushroom has cancer fighting ingredients. 7: Tomatoes Seven to ten helpings per week, especially cooked. According to Harvard research 7-10 helpings a week cuts prostate symptoms by 40% and has an influence on many cancers e.g.: lung; colon; cervix; breast. Lycopene is the prime active ingredient, and 25 - 40 mgs the desired daily dose. 8: Green leafy vegetables Along with avocado, beans, carrots, apricots, pumpkins, and egg yolk green vegetables will give you folic acid if your gut bacteria are strong. 9: Broccoli Like other green cruciferous vegetables (e.g. cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts), broccoli contains fibre which helps eliminate toxins 10: Garlic It is a truly wonderful food. Active ingredients like allicin seem to act to stop the spread of cancer in a number of ways, for example by stopping blood supply formation for tumours. 11: Beetroot And cherries, aubergines, plums, red grapes - indeed any purple coloured fruits and vegeatables. They contain anthocyanins (and sometimes also resveratrol). Anthocyanins have been shown to kill cancer cells; Resveratrrol has research supporting its role in fighting certain cancers like blood and brain cancers too. 12: Pulses Lentils, chickpeas, beans, peas, kidney beans and even soya beans are a great source of plant protein. Most importantly they release their carbohydrate slowly because of their high fibre content. They reduce blood glucose. source : http://www.canceractive.com/cancer-active-page-link.aspx?n=531

Meat, high-calorie beverages up cancer risk
Beware! Heavy diet like meats, refined grains and high-calorie beverages may cause cancer in both men and women. Colorectal cancer is a common form of cancer, which can be caused due to inflammation in the body. According to researchers, a diet high in foods with the potential to cause inflammation, including meats, refined grains and high-calorie beverages, was associated with increased risk of developing colorectal cancer for men and women. The findings indicated that the risk appeared to be higher among overweight or obese men and lean women. What people eat can influence inflammation in the body as measured by inflammatory biomarkers, so diet may be a modifiable risk factor to prevent colorectal cancer. The team analysed 1,21,050 male and female health care professionals, who were followed for 26 years in long-term studies. The researchers completed the food questionnaires about what they ate, on the basis of which data analysis was done last year. The scores were based on 18 food groups characterised for their inflammatory potential and were then calculated from the questionnaires given to participants every four years. What To Eat When You Have Cancer
The loss of appetite is just one of many side effects that go along with cancer treatment. But health experts at Lee Memorial Health System say eating is an important part of the patient’s treatment. According to Valerie Butram, an oncology dietitian with the Regional Cancer Center, during cancer treatment it’s common for patients to have trouble eating. “It really does affect your appetite. It can affect your taste alteration. They may have some mouth inflammation, they may have some GI upset, and they may have some elimination problems.” Butram says maintaining the patient’s weight is important during cancer treatment. Protein needs to be a big part of their diet, as it helps with growth replacement during cancer treatment. Some choices to keep on hand are fish, chicken, eggs, Greek yogurt, even hummus and peanut butter. “It’s so important for them to have that nutrition to keep them strong to decrease any chance for an infection and to keep their weight stable” said Butrum. She suggested smaller, more frequent meals that are easily absorbed in the stomach like pudding, ice cream, or smoothies. Also, keeping high calorie snacks on hand and scheduling meals can help the cancer patient stay nourished. “If we can nourish and hydrate them through treatment they are going to come around and recover a lot faster” said Butrum. A faster recovery also means the return of a healthy appetite.

How to Get a Chemo Patient to Eat|protein shakes for chemo patients
How to Get a Chemo Patient to Eat|protein shakes for chemo patients One of the most common side effects of chemotherapy is loss of appetite and weight loss. This may be secondary to nausea and vomiting, mouth ulcers that prevent eating or swallowing, depression, changes in taste and/or dry mouth. It is vital that a patient receiving chemotherapy remain hydrated and eat nutrient-dense foods during treatment. Scroll down to Step 1 below to help the patient stay as healthy as possible while receiving chemotherapy. 1 Find high-calorie foods that appeal to the patient. Cravings are often the body’s subliminal attempt to signal a person to eat substances and nutrients in which they are deficient. What does he or she particularly enjoy? Keep the foods they crave around the house and easily accessible. Some examples of calorie and protein dense foods are milk shakes, cheese, smoothies, pudding, chicken, eggs, lean red meat, fish, yogurt, ice cream, peanut butter, almond butter, whole grain toast, lentils, spinach and garlic. 2 Keep snacks around to munch on throughout the day. Examples of high-calorie and protein snacks include: Half a cup of nuts and a fruit 2 graham crackers or a slice of whole grain bread with natural peanut or almond butter A mix of carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber or celery sticks with canola or olive oil based dressing Popcorn trail mix consisting of 1 cup of popcorn made with canola oil and missed with quarter cup of nuts and 2 tablespoons of raisins Low-fat yogurt with 2-3 tablespoons chopped nuts 1 cup of whole grain cereal with skim milk Fruit smoothie consisting of 6 ounces of low fat vanilla yogurt, half a cup of skim milk, a cup of berries 3 Drink plenty of fluids that are not caffeinated or alcohol based. A major symptom of chemotherapy is having a dry mouth (xerostomia). Aside from it being important to hydrate, constantly drinking healthy fluids combats this symptom, too.[1] Water, flavored water, coconut water, smoothies, liquid nutrition supplements, ice cream, sorbet, sherbet, pudding, fruit based popsicles, crushed ice, herbal teas, decaffeinated coffee and teas are all good examples of non-caffeinated beverages. Nutritional supplements such as Ensure and Boost are good as well. SUBSCRIBE TO MORE VIDEOS

How to Gain Weight After Cancer Treatment | Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
For more information, recipes, and tips, and to watch more videos on Eating Well During Cancer, visit http://www.dana-farber.org/eatingwell. When going through cancer treatment, it's common to experience a loss of appetite, taste changes, or other symptoms that make it difficult or less desirable to eat. Some people find that they lose weight as a result of their particular cancer or treatments and are concerned about how to gain it back. Dana-Farber nutritionist Stacy Kennedy describes steps you can take to prevent excess weight loss and promote healthy weight gain during and after cancer treatment. Transcription: I’m Stacy Kennedy, a nutrition specialist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Welcome to Eating Well During Cancer. Today I’d like to talk with you about managing a healthy weight during and after cancer treatment, specifically addressing unwanted weight loss. Weight loss is a common side effect during cancer treatment. It can come from a number of factors that may all be occurring at the same time. It’s common to experience a loss of appetite, taste changes, or other symptoms that may make it difficult or less desirable to eat—things like nausea, fatigue, and bowel changes. At the same time, your metabolism tends to be less efficient or a bit revved up during cancer treatment, so we can see how easy it is to experience unwanted weight loss when we want less but need more. But don’t worry—we’re here today to talk with you about some simple, easy tips and tricks to help prevent some of that weight loss. One of the most important things is to eat and drink often in small amounts throughout the day, to set yourself up for success by being prepared. Asking someone to help with the food shopping and preparation can help you save your energy for eating. Having somebody help with cooking is also beneficial, because often the smell of food can be a bit of a turn-off for the appetite when it’s cooking. They could even pack you a cooler you can keep with you at your bedside or if you're sitting in resting or to take with you on the go full of quick and easy meals and healthy snacks and fluids. In addition to needing more calories during treatment, we also need more nutrients and also more protein. Protein is really important for the immune system, for energy, for blood cells throughout your entire body, and of course for maintaining muscle mass. So, a few things that can be really helpful are to make smoothies and soups. When it comes to smoothies, they’re a great way to pack in extra vitamins, minerals, fluids, protein, and calories. We have so many easy-to-make, delicious smoothie recipes on our website and in our app, so I encourage you to check those out. On behalf of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, I’m Stacy Kennedy.

Learn what to eat to get six pack abs 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitytransformation.com Fat Loss Calculator: http://gravitytransformation.com/macro-calculator/ Are you trying to lose weight? You’re working out, you’re counting calories, but still, you’re not getting any results? It might be because you’re eating these 6 foods that keep you from shedding those extra pounds. In this video, I’ll show you exactly what foods you must stop eating to lose weight permanently… and which foods to replace them with. You’ve probably heard that the one thing that truly matters for weight loss and weight gain is calories in, calories out. If you burn more calories than you eat, you should lose weight, right? True, however, if you only eat donuts and cake, will you get the protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals you need for a lean, healthy body? You won’t - and that’s why a proper diet is so important. A calorie is not a calorie - some food are simply better for you than others. A 100 grams of fructose won’t have the same impact on the body as 100 grams of quality protein. The fructose will lead to insulin resistance, higher ghrelin levels and increased appetite, The protein will give you a feeling of fullness which will prevent overeating, not to mention that it will help you build muscle. Now that you know that calories aren’t all that matters, let’s take a look at the 7 foods you should drop if you want to lose fat. 1. Sugar With a nickname like “white death”, it’s no surprise sugar is at the top of this list. Sugar is nothing more than empty calories. It has no nutritional value, no vitamins and no minerals. It spikes your blood glucose and in the long term leads to metabolic syndrome, obesity, cardiovascular disease and especially type II diabetes. You can even get addicted to it and suffer withdrawal symptoms because sugar causes a release of dopamine in the reward center of the brain. Not to mention that it is extremely bad for you teeth. So what can you when you get the sweet tooth? Raw honey is a great substitute that won’t spike your insulin and actually has a ton of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. 2. Refined grains Pasta, bread, and pizza are delicious. However, most of them are made out of refined grains. Refined grains are high on the glycemic index and can spike your blood sugar levels, leading to weight gain and type II diabetes. One study found that eating just two slices of white bread per day was linked to a 40% greater risk of weight gain and obesity (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25335643/). In the process of refinement, the bran and germ of the grain are removed, along with most of the nutrients. But don’t worry, you can still eat grains - just make sure they’re whole. 3. All sodas and sugary drinks, diet or not What goes for sugar goes for sugary drinks as well. If sugar is just empty calories, then sugary drinks are liquid calories. The problem with these is that we don’t really detect them. You can drink a whole meal’s worth of calories and still be hungry. A single bottle of Coca-Cola “only” has 184 calories, but even if you just have one or two a day, they add up quickly. The best solution is to simply cut them out completely and drink water. 4. Alcohol Alcohol has more calories per gram than carbs or protein - 7. That means it is easy to go over your week’s calories on a Friday night out. But it’s not just the calories. Alcohol is a poison to the body. When you drink it, the liver burns alcohol instead of fat - stopping your fat burning for several hours. For example, a regular beer has 150 calories. A few of those, and some fast food at the end of the night can quickly come out to over 1000 in calories. If you want to drink, do it in moderation. 5. Salt Unlike most of this list, salt is the one thing you shouldn’t give up on. The two minerals found in it - sodium and chloride - are both necessary for optimal function of the body. Going too low leads to higher LDL levels, increased insulin resistance, increased risk of death from heart disease, heart failure and type II diabetes. However, too much salt has been linked to stomach cancer. In fact, people with high salt intake have a 68% higher risk of stomach cancer. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22296873) Over 90% of Americans eat too much salt (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22854410/). But most of that comes from processed foods, which we know are bad. If you stop eating processed foods most of the time, you don’t need to worry about salt too much. Trans fat Eating fat doesn’t make you fat and not all fats are bad for you. However, trans fats should definitely be avoided. Short for trans fatty acids
High-calorie foods may increase cancer in women
UPI reports that women who consume lots of high calorie foods, including fast food, chips and desserts, may be at a higher risk for obesity-related cancers. A new study of over 92 thousand women, ages 50-79, shows that the risk of cancers like breast, colon and kidney increase by 10% when linked to women eating junk food. And although obesity is also considered a risk of eating high calorie foods, the new study suggest that cancer was only linked to women eating calorie rich foods who were "of normal weight." A researcher added "being thin doesn't mean you are 'metabolically healthy.'" https://www.upi.com/Health_News/2017/08/18/High-cal-foods-may-raise-cancer-risk-in-women/5441503029615/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com
Good Nutrition for Cancer Recovery
The INDI AGM saw the launch of ‘Good Nutrition for Cancer Recovery’, a high-protein high-calorie cookbook developed specifically for cancer patients with involuntary weight loss. The book, which was funded by a Health Research Board (HRB) Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Scheme (KEDS) awarded to Dr Aoife Ryan in UCC, allowed for the development and printing of 19,000 copies which will be available to cancer patients throughout Ireland free of charge. International data has shown that cancer patients who lose more than 10% of their pre-illness weight have death rates that are significantly higher than weight-stable cancer patients. Recent research from UCC also has highlighted the increased toxicity to chemotherapy cancer patients experience if they are malnourished (Cushen et al, Am J Clin Oncol, 2014 in press).

Top 10 Alkaline Foods You Should Be Eating Everyday
Not many people are aware, but the human body functions the best at a pH level that is slightly on the alkaline side. The body’s pH levels can range from 0, or completely acidic, to 14, completely alkaline. Ideally, the body’s pH levels should sit around 7.35 to 7.45 in order to function properly. Unfortunately, the majority of people consume a highly processed diet that is high in sugar. This causes the body’s pH to become acidic. Therefore, most of the people walking around today have pH levels that are not stabilized and are acidic. Luckily, the pH in the human body can be restored. Today’s video will discuss ten powerful foods that are consumed on the alkaline diet and can improve one’s health. 1. Spinach Spinach is a powerful vegetable that has many health characteristics, including its alkaline effects. This is largely due to it’s high content of chlorophyll, which causes the spinach to be an alkalizing agent to the body and restore the pH level back to its ideal. 2. Lemons This may be surprising, as lemons are often seen as an acidic fruit. However, they are actually high in alkaline properties. This is because once the citric acid in lemons are metabolized, they provide an alkaline effect on the body. They help to cleanse and detox the body, using essential minerals like calcium and iron. 3. Kale Kale is another powerful green that should be added to a daily diet. It has the ability to stabilize the body’s pH levels, while providing detoxification and antioxidant properties. Kale contains Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Calcium, Copper, Potassium, Iron, Protein, Phosphorus and Manganese. 4. Avocados Avocados are another one of those foods that are packed with essential vitamins and minerals that help to flush out harmful toxins from the body and help to restore the body’s pH level to its optimum level. By doing so, avocados help the cardiovascular system, the immune system, the circulatory system and the digestive system. 5. Wheatgrass Wheatgrass also helps to detoxify the body. In doing so, it also helps to protect the liver from harmful toxins. Since it contains essential vitamins and minerals, along with ridding the body of toxins that weigh it down, wheatgrass helps to boost energy, lose weight, stabilize blood sugar and fight cancerous cells. 6. Celery Celery is a healthful food that is not given the credit it is deserved. Celery is normally found on every diet’s menu. This is largely because celery is a diuretic, as it helps the body to get rid of any excess fluids. Celery can also neutralize the acid in the body and bring the pH level back to a slightly alkaline level. 7. Broccoli Broccoli is one of the most important foods to eat in order to maintain an alkalized pH levels. That is because broccoli contains phytochemicals that alkalize the body, reduce estrogen dominance and increase estrogen metabolism. Broccoli also contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. 8. Cucumbers Cucumbers are another food that have a high water content and help to flush out harmful toxins from the body. They can help to restore the pH level of the body by neutralizing the acids. They also help to reduce any inflammation within the body. 9. Bell Peppers One highly underestimated food is the bell pepper. Not only can the bell pepper help to neutralize the acid in the body and raise the pH level to alkaline, but it can help to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and fight cancer. 10. Garlic Like many contained in this list, garlic has so many healthy characteristics that go far beyond restoring the pH level in the body. Garlic helps to support the body’s overall health. It contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Calcium, Copper, Selenium and Manganese. It acts as an antibacterial food, an antiviral food, an antioxidant food, and an anti-fungal food. Top 3 Best Fish vs. Worst Fish to Eat: Thomas DeLauer
Learn the 3 Safest fish to eat! I'll teach you more at http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com We are going to go over the top 3 fish to eat and the fish that you may want to avoid. Fish can become contaminated in a number of ways - size, species, age and location determine contamination levels. Heavy Metals: Mercury and Lead- Mercury is known to cause many health problems and is especially dangerous for children and women who are or may become pregnant. It can take 12-18 months for mercury to pass through the body, so women who may become pregnant should also work hard to avoid mercury. The nervous system and kidneys are the main targets of mercury. Children exposed to mercury may cause mental development problems, including coordination and learning handicaps. Anyone can experience mercury health effects, including: fatigue, dizziness, numbness or tingling, memory and coordination problems, irritability. If enough mercury is consumed, permanent brain and kidney damage can occur. Large, older, or predatory fish have more time and eat more contaminated foods, allowing heavy metals to bioaccumulate. Industrial Chemicals- PCBs, dioxins, DDT and other chemicals can leach from factories or garbage into our waters. These chemicals are related to cancer risk. Bottom dwelling fish are the most susceptible to these toxins, including the American eel, sea trout and wild striped bass. Radiation- The Fukushima nuclear disaster is one of the most widely discussed radiation events that has an impact on what we eat. Radiation is known to cause cancer, so avoiding foods high in radioactive compounds is important. Researching your fish choices online is the best way to avoid consuming fish that come from an area high in radiation. Choosing Fish for Your Family- The Environmental Defense Fund Seafood Selector is a great benefit when deciding what fish to avoid and what fish to load up on. Given the above concerns while also weighing in health and deliciousness, here is the list of the top three fish: (1) Pacific Sardines (US and Canada): -Low in mercury -Sustainably fished -High in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins B12, B2, B3, D, selenium, phosphorus, calcium, copper and more -They are inexpensive and easy to find canned. (2) Wild Alaskan Salmon: -Salmon is one of the most delicious fish, rich in healthy fats. -Low in mercury and sustainably fished -Contains bioactive peptides that may support for cartilage, insulin and inflammation. -High in vitamins B12, B3, D, selenium, omega-3 fatty acids, phosphorus, B6 and many others. (3) Muscles: -Low in mercury and one of the most sustainably fished seafood sources out there -High in selenium, omega-3s, B12, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and many others. Seafood to Avoid: Due to toxins and sustainability, it is best to stay away from these types of seafood. (1) Shark: -Anything this high up on the food chain is going to be a red flag when it comes to toxins.Predators consume other fish and their toxins. The higher up on the food chain, the higher the levels of mercury and toxins in the fish. Adding to the health dangers is the unsustainable fishing practices. Sharks have long gestation periods, taking a long time to mature and have offspring. This makes overfishing or depleting their numbers easy to do. Most shark species are experiencing a large decline due to fishing, being caught as bycatch and for fins in Asia. (2) Tuna: A favorite among many sushi goers is unfortunately very high in mercury and horrible for sustainability. Some tuna is much better for you and the environment than others. If you do consume tuna, US yellowfin is the best option. Canned albacore tuna is high in mercury and should be avoided. Bluefin and imported albacore are the worst tuna options for health and sustainability - do your best to avoid these. Canned light tuna is better for you than canned white tuna when it comes to mercury, with about ⅓ the mercury content of canned white tuna. (3) Farmed Tilapia: Farmed tilapia in the US is often imported from China and Taiwan where the conditions and chemicals used are very troublesome. (4) Swordfish: All swordfish, being large hunters, are high in mercury. They are also fished very unsustainably, with large bycatch of sea turtles, sharks and seabirds. References 1. Meat, high-calorie beverages up cancer risk
New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): Beware! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ☛ Subscribe to our Youtube Channel - https://goo.gl/k1Aee1 ☛ Visit our Official website: https://www.aninews.in/ Enjoy and stay connected with us!! ☛ Like us: https://www.facebook.com/ANINEWS.IN ☛Follow us : https://twitter.com/ANI ☛ Circle us : https://goo.gl/QN5kXy ☛ Contact us : shrawankp@aniin.com
