The daily living pattern is disrupted, that influences the monthly rhythm. There are three major types of stress: emotional stress, dietary stress and the stress of pain and hidden inflammation, which are the 3 major triggers. Now when cortisol levels go up. it is important to realize that cortisol is responsible of three things: blood sugar control, fat burning metabolism, and also an anti-inflammatory hormone, which helps to control pain and inflammation. And it’s a mood stabilizer. It helps us keep happy and have a stable mood. So anything that is going to affect your cortisol is going to get you to store fat, put on weight, its going to cause you to get depressed and have a low mood. And its going to cause you to have difficulties in controlling pain and inflammation. And can lead to chronic pain and inflammation. And when the adrenal glands are burned out, or used up, or exhausted we become very fatigued. That could lead to chronic fatigue symptoms. So anyone that has any level of chronic fatigue or excessive fatigue by definition has adrenal exhaustion going on. Anyone that has any level of chronic pain or inflammation in their body is going through a lot of stress in their cortisol. And anyone that is overweight is going to have a problem with there cortisol levels. So stabilizing cortisol and DHEA levels helps people burn body fat, reduces pain and inflammation and improves mood and energy levels. Dr Raj wants you to know ovarian hormones and female hormones do not spontaneously malfunction by themselves. They are responding to stress as a stress hormone called cortisol. Every molecule of cortisol that you produce comes from progesterone. When you under stress guess what happens? Your cortisol goes up and your progesterone drops. This is a great question!! The first sign is that you have abnormal menstrual cycles; and the most obvious sign is when you don't have your menstrual cycle at all. There is a difference between perimenopause and actual menopause. Perimenopause the process in which your body is starting to decline in estrogen and progesterone production. But menopause is complete - your body is not producing estrogen and progesterone. There are a lot of symptoms of menopause and perimenopause, including hot flashes, fatigue, foggy brain, and moodiness similar to when you are having premenstrual syndrome (but just a little bit different). So what are some natural remedies for perimenopause symptoms such as hot flashes. There are a couple ways to answer that. First, if you are going to do herbal remedies, you want to focus on phytoestrogen or plant based estrogen, such as black cohosh or soybean-type. I recommend using your food as medicine first. So look for things that have phytoestrogens naturally. My favorite - edamame. You can go to any Japanese restaurant, farmer's market or grocery store and buy it frozen. All you need to do is steam it, add a little sea salt and you can eat them right out of the pods. Now if you want a supplement, black cohosh, red clover and evening primrose are some great natural supplements that you can use to combat hot flashes. I personally prefer evening primrose oil or you can do red clover tea. You want to be careful about supplementing too many estrogens because they can actually have a negative effect. If you happen to have a history of breast cancer, or a family history of breast cancer, I'd highly recommend against too much phytoestrogen. The other thing you might want to take a look at is going to your local integrative medicine, or holistic doctor, and getting a full panel of your hormones done - because it's not just estrogen and progesterone that contribute to hot flashes, but also testosterone. So go and get a full panel of blood tests including your thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and have them check on your adrenal glands. That way, they can look at a 3D view of you and not just assume that it's your estrogen and progesterone that's low and causing your hot flashes. Namaste! These are exactly like the hormones made in the ovaries. The human body knows no difference from these and what is produced genetically. The bio-identicals are derived initially from plant sources and crafted to be the same composition that is naturally produced by your body. Thyroid, adrenal, and sex hormones are available also bio-identically. Unfortunately, too many women in our country are not taking hormones because of the false concern that they may cause cancer. Medical doctors were hoodwinked by the media in 2006 to believe that taking hormones is risky. Three reports that show a minimal increase of breast and uterine cancer contradict the previous forty years of benignity in over 1,000 studies. Today, a woman who is age fifty and in good health could very well spend half her lifetime in a postmenopausal hormone imbalance and hence, the subject to increase of morbid problems. Female hormones are the only hormone abnormality in all of medicine that are not routinely replaced. If the patient has a low thyroid level, doctors prescribe thyroid. If she has low parathyroid output, doctors give her parathormone (Forteo). No physician would dare withhold insulin from a diabetic, but most physicians are not giving female hormones to those who need it most. Recent statistics show that less than 20 percent of postmenopausal women receive hormonal replacement and that most of them begged their physicians to prescribe them.
