Here you will learn emergency preparedness - FREE tips: http://www.bugoutreport.com In this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_aufCql58c) you will learn free tips on emergency preparedness. Emergency preparedness is crucial because disasters are highly unpredictable and disruptive events that can cause you a great deal of suffering, deprivation, injury, and death, as a result of direct injury, disease, the interruption of commerce and business, and the partial or total destruction of critical infrastructure such as homes, hospitals, roads, bridges, power lines, etc. Emergency preparedness can mean the difference in life or death, because disasters can be caused by naturally occurring events, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, tornadoes. They can also be the results of man-made events, either accidental (such as an accidental toxic waste spill or nuclear power plant meltdown), or deliberate (such as various terrorist bombings, shootings, poisonings or riots and anarchy). How do Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams cope when numbers of incoming casualties exceed a hospital’s capacity to respond? Any more than 10 casualties requires activating the Mass Casualty Plan, which the teams rehearse to ensure everyone knows the procedure.

Here you will learn about emergency preparedness planning: http://www.bugoutreport.com In this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyAXJBnDePA) you will learn about emergency preparedness planning! With the recent storms tearing across the eastern half of the United States, including snow warnings in the north, and tornado warnings that could follow the path of yesterdays storms, that killed a dozen people. The staff at the Harrisburg Medical Center saved many lives yesterday, when the tornadoes ripped through the area. Luckily the staff, was highly familiar with their emergency response preparedness strategies, because of past warnings and threats they had prepared for. The staff received a 20 minute warning, and jumped into action, moving the patients away from the windows and shutting the doors to the hallway. Just as they were securing the last reinforced door, the tornado hit and glass began breaking. Since the staff reacted so quickly, the hallway and doors protected the patients from the flying glass. Parts of the hospital will have to be rebuilt because it sustained so much damage. To get the full article click here: http://www.absoluterights.com/emergency-preparedness-planning/

I interview Sis. Tequella X ( @DivineByNature1 ) on #survivaltips to prepare yourself and family for #naturedisasters and #civilunrest. Special thanks to Bro. Michael Muhammad (M.R.T. DOOM ALERT - Follow at https://plus.google.com/u/1/+MichaelMuhammadDoomAlert & http://doomalert19.tumblr.com/ ) Know4LIFE Survival & Disaster Preparedness links: https://www.pinterest.com/k…/survival-disaster-preparedness/ & https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4F47D5025D5BCA57 How much food should I have stored for a disaster? Every home should have an #emergencyfoodsupply on hand in case of disaster. Start working toward building a 3-day supply of food that is kept separate from regular food supplies. The best way to prepare food for disaster is to can our own food. Canning our own food means; We will have foods that were selected at their most ripe and nutritious stage. Items we can ourselves will last for years without spoiling We will save money because, in the long run, canning is much less expensive than buying food. Until we are able to can enough food to help us through a disaster, we can buy food to supply our needs. We should start buying a few extra items at a time until we have enough to have two items per person per day for each day that we plan to survive. Keep buying items until there is enough food to prepare three days’ worth of meals for you and your family. Remember, water might be scarce, so try to find lower sodium foods that won’t need extra water to cook. Also, think about special dietary needs you or family members may have (diabetics, dialysis patients, people with high blood pressure or heart disease, etc.). Allah (God) willing, we will learn how to prepare special kits for loved ones with special needs, but for now concentrate on securing enough basic items to build your family’s food supply. Since people tend to consume their emergency food supply easily when it’s too readily available, it’s a good idea to store the food in a location that is easy to get to in an emergency, but not near the kitchen. Keep the items in a dry, room-temperature location, near your supply of water. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good! It is better to have a little bit of emergency food on hand and add to your supply than to wait until you can “stock up” all at once. We can prepare today to survive tomorrow! What kinds of items should I keep with my emergency food and water? As you are building your emergency food supply, keep in mind you and your family will want to be able to eat and drink quickly and cleanly. So you can start by adding the items below to your food supply: Kitchen knife Pot and pan for cooking-it doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Whatever works is good. Plastic ware-knives, forks and spoons Styrofoam or paper plates and cups Plastic zipper-freezer bags Plastic bags for trash Waterproof matches or lighter Aluminum Foil—It can be formed into just about anything you need (stove, cooktop, plate, etc.) Manual can opener—electric can openers will be useless if the power is out. Wet wipes, soap or hand sanitizer Permanent Marker—Use it to mark the day you open items. Spices for seasoning food—remember salt makes you drink more water, so add spices that won’t make you deplete your water supply too quickly. A small bottle of non-scented chlorine bleach. You may need to make unsafe water drinkable. Allah (God) willing, we will learn more about this as we move forward. Rocket Stove, Coffee Can Stove or Camp Stove. Instructions for making Rocket and Coffee Can Stoves can be found at: www.instructables.com . Cans of Sterno (canned heat) Be sure to add items you think your family will use. Remember, you know your family better than anyone else, so tailor your preparations to suit your family’s needs. Keep these items and your food in an airtight container(s). You want to keep oxygen and humidity out of your food supply. Food stored on the floor, especially in basements, is more vulnerable to humidity. You can add one or two bay leaves to each container to keep pests away, too. Remember, we can prepare today to survive tomorrow! Easy goals to be safe in any emergency. I am a Community Disaster Educator for The American Red Cross and a member of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and I have made a collection movie of weekly Emergency Preparedness Goals to urge you to prepare for any and all kinds of disasters. You will need a disaster kit for your home, work and one for your car! A gallon of water per person per day. Some officials recommend disaster supplies enough to last for 2 weeks. Do NOT consider your home food and water sufficient. What will you do without electricity, gas or heat, telephone, or destroyed infrastructures? The answers are here, both creating a safe environment and building your disaster kits! This is very basic, but have you done one of the suggested goals. One of the most important is to never allow your vehicle's gas tank to get below a half a tank. When you see automobiles caught evacuating, many of them have run out of gas and others cannot get by or around them. Also keep cash in small denominations. ATMs will not work, nor will gas pumps without electricity or there will be very long lines. Here is a great link for a PDF of a Family Disaster Plan & Personal Safety Guide i PDF that you can print off and check off the list of important preparation BEFORE an event. It is for San Diego County but universal. http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/oes/docs FamilyDisasterPlan.pdf

Hospitals across the Lowcountry are preparing for Hurricane Florence. Roper St. Francis is open and stocked with water, a dedicated hurricane supply room that includes portable generators and cots, and also has three large CAT generators. Roper St. Francis spokesman Brian DeRoy said all of their major facilities will be open during the storm, but they ask patients with procedures scheduled to call and confirm. The Medical University of South Carolina Hospital says they are prepared to care for their patients. "Every hurricane is unusual, Florence is no different so part of our planning is really to understand what contingencies do we have to meet," said Matt Wain, the chief operating officer for MUSC Health. As part of their plan, they look at what patients they can safely discharge ahead of Hurricane Florence. They also keep enough food, water, vital medications and other supplies on hand to last at least seven days in the event of a storm. "One of the things we're really excited about is we have a high water vehicle that we have been able to acquire in the last year," Wain said. "It enables us to drive through water as deep as six feet and so we can provide urgent and emergent transportation for patients and physicians and staff between buildings if that need might arise." It's a retired military vehicle called an LMTV which stands for Light Medium Tactical Vehicle. "During Hurricane Matthew and during Hurricane Irma with the flooding event we had to transport surgeons from one side of the campus to the other to perform surgery and we utilized what they call Jon Boats and we pushed them along," said Bryan Wood, MUSC's emergency management coordinator. MUSC staff says they are also prepared to help other medical centers in South Carolina or North Carolina if the Charleston area is not greatly impacted by the Hurricane. "We are here to serve the community especially in times of adversity. So if there are patients of families who are worried, MUSC is here we will be here and we will be able to take care of any medical conditions or scenarios," Wain said. Hospital staff is prepared to stay overnight to care for patients. Copyright 2018 WCSC. All rights reserved.

Disaster preparedness is no longer the only concern of an earthquake for Californians, tornado for those who live in the part of the country known as Tornado Alley, hurricane for those who live in Florida. For most of us, preparedness must now account for a man-made disaster or terrorism act as well as the natural ones. Knowing what to do during an emergency is a vital part of being prepared and make all the difference when seconds count. Our commitment of disaster safety can be traced back long before 9/11. Preparing for emergencies can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses that accompany emergencies and disasters. Communities, businesses, families, and individuals should have an emergency preparedness plan. Planning will help you to shelter, or evacuate your homes or offices with survival kits. Having water and food supplies is critical for you, your family members and pets.
