The Cost Of Affordable HealthCare
Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.Kristine FrazaoWashington, DC--Once again there is good news and bad news when it comes to the Affordable Healthcare Law. The good news is spending on healthcare has slowed dramatically. It's in large part a result of the stagnant economy. Spending on Medicare and Medicaid is expected to be far less than initially thought. According to a Congressional Budget Office report, spending on Medicare will go down $137 billion and $85 billion dollars less will be spent on medicaid in the next 10 years. The White House Council of Economic Advisors is praising the progress, as well as former president Bill Clinton. But here is the bad news. Subsidy payments to insurance companies could cost more than a trillion dollars over the next decade. Ryan Ellis of the American For Tax Reform says, This was always part of the Obamacare law and what it says is if a insurance company participates in Obamacare for the first few years and loses too much money in the process then they get a bailout from Washington DC.Ellis says with President Obama allowing millions of Americans to keep their canceled health plans, the structure of the law has fallen apart since it will decrease the number of young people signing on the health exchanges.

Medicare Annual Wellness Visit Information For You
Go To http://www.InsuredMeds.com for FREE Quotes & Info Medicare Annual Wellness Visit Information For You If Medicare covers you, you have a number of free preventive care services available to you to promote your health and wellbeing. All Medicare beneficiaries are eligible for an annual wellness visit, a yearly appointment with your health care provider to update or develop a five to 10-year prevention schedule based on your needs. If you have been receiving Medicare Part B benefits for at least 12 months and have not had an initial "Welcome to Medicare" exam, you are now eligible for this free benefit. There are no deductibles or coinsurance payments associated with this visit. Be sure when you are scheduling the appointment you do not indicate you want a physical, which you will be charged for. This is not a head-to-toe physical, but more of a health risk assessment. The exam will include checking to be sure your heart, lungs and other body systems are working properly. You should be prepared to answer questions regarding your medical history, current medications, cognitive functioning, and any concerns you may have about your health. The health professional you choose will also take routine measurements like your height, weight and blood pressure. No charge for Medicare beneficiaries. If you have Original Medicare, in addition to the annual wellness visit, there are a number of preventative care services available to you with no coinsurance deductible if you see a doctor who accepts the assignment. The physician is not able to charge you separately for more than the Medicare covered amount for the service. If you are in a Medicare Advantage plan, your plan will not be able to charge you for preventative care services that are free for people with Original Medicare, as long as you see in-network providers. Other preventive services Depression screenings, diabetes screenings, heart disease screening, hepatitis C screening, HIV screening, medical nutrition therapy, obesity counseling, osteoporosis screening, sexually transmitted disease screenings, smoking cessation counseling as well as a number of vaccinations. Some of the other Medicare preventive services that can be provided without coinsurance or a deductible include: abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, alcohol counseling, breast, cervical, colon lung, and prostate cancer. These services will not be a part of your annual wellness visit, but may be suggested by your health professional as follow-up care following your visit. The best way to stay healthy is to live a healthy lifestyle by exercising, eating well, keeping a healthy weight, and not smoking. Preventive services like the annual wellness exam can help, too, by finding health problems early, when treatment works best. Call 1-800-MEDICARE for more information on any of these screenings or visit www.medicare.gov to get the most current information on what is covered. Premiums for Health Insurance Could Soar Next Year
If you buy your own health insurance, either through Obamacare or through a broker, get ready for some big hikes next year. The Obama Administration published the hefty premium increases by several of the big insurers--in some cases they are as much as 35%. The increases may be negotiated down as part of the terms of the Affordable Care Act but insurance companies say they need to increase premiums because of sweeping changes to the way health insurance is sold and priced. Apple's (AAPL) relaunch of Beats Music is said to cost $10 a month. Unlike Spotify, the new Beats Streaming music service under Aple won't have a way to listen to anything on demand for free. Google (GOOG) said 21% of its new tech hires last year were women, boosting the number of overall women in technical roles by 1%. What Will it Cost to Buy Insurance on the Marketplace?
What will it cost to buy health insurance on the ACA's Insurance Marketplace? Perhaps the biggest question patients might have, that question is answered in this, the ninth installment of the Texas Medical Association's video series explaining the new Health Insurance Marketplace (sometimes called "exchange") under the federal health law, the Affordable Care Act. The physician, Carlos "Hey Doc" Cardenas, MD, Chair of TMA's Board of Trustees, answers, "Here's a surprise, friend. The cost of your insurance depends on what you want to buy, but it also depends on you. The insurance companies can charge you more or less depending on where you live, how old you are, how many people you want to cover in your family, and whether you smoke. What you pay also depends on what insurance you choose. Buy a bronze or silver plan, and you'll pay less each month in premiums. But you will have to pay more of the costs when you actually use the insurance. The opposite happens with gold and platinum plans. They have higher premiums and lower out-of-pocket costs. Remember too, you can buy plans that cover more kinds of health care services -- but they will cost more. And your income determines whether you can get government help to pay for your insurance. To give you a rough idea of the costs and the amount of government help you might get, we put a calculator from the Kaiser Family Foundation on the our website at HeyDoc.texmed.org. Give it a try! For answers to more of your questions, stay tuned ... or go to healthcare.gov... or BeCoveredTexas.org ... or HeyDoc.texmed.org. For the Texas Medical Association, I'm Carlos "Hey Doc" Cardenas."

Overweight Employees Pay More for Health Insurance
Check out www.vlaze.com/getthedaily for more videos! The source of a deadly food contamination has been identified, according to Canadian health food officials. A recent listeriosis outbreak that has been linked to 4-deaths, 21-confirmed cases and possibly 30-more cases is linked back to Maple Leaf Foods plant in Toronto. The Canadian company expanded the recall of its meat products over the weekend, and the Public Health Agency expects the number of reported cases to continue increasing because symptoms of listeriosis can remain dormant for up to 70-days after bacterial infection. The rare foodborne illness is most dangerous to the elderly, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems. Regular treatment of the disease is a dose of antibiotics. Health officials in Canada and the United States are in talks of creating legal standards for written food allergy warnings. Currently, these label cautions are voluntary and officials say they are popping up on previously quote-unquote safe, non-allergenic products, causing many consumers to become confused and to ignore the labels all together. The FDA plans to hold a public hearing on September 16th to help understand consumers and their needs - it’s the first step towards developing new standards. About 12-million Americans have food allergies, and since 2006, a US-law has required companies to state when products contain highly allergenic ingredients. And one state is forcing overweight employees to pay 25-dollars per-month for insurance that is otherwise free. Alabama warned more than 37-thousand workers one year ago of the change, and now it’s approved. There are several steps to take before an employee is actually charged. According to the CDC, Alabama is the second most obese state in America. And it’s the first state to charge overweight workers versus other states that give incentives to healthy workers.

Healthy Food, Healthy Kids
"I have Piper, she's 3 months. Kylie is almost 3 years old." Mom Katie Gorski is meal planner-in-chief for her family. Given the many choices, she prioritizes good nutrition "I think it's really important. It can help with their development and their growth and its better to give them healthy foods and help fight obesity," says Katie. In the past 30 years childhood obesity rates have tripled. When it comes to younger children their parents are often helping them pack on the pounds. "Especially when you're dealing with young children you can't say it's their fault," says Dr. Nancy Witham, a pediatrician with Lee Memorial Health System. Dr. Nancy Witham is a pediatrician who sees the downside of overeating. Children's health issues are now mirroring the adult population. "High cholesterol, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, joint related problems from carrying excess weight on growing joints," says Dr. Witham. Educating parents is the best way to turn the trend. "There's a variety of things that are optional, healthy snacks, fruits are good choices, vegetables the celery sticks, pieces of broccoli. These things can be introduced fairly early. We really want people to stay away from concentrated sweets as their snack choices," says Dr. Witham. As the family food czar, Katie takes time to read labels. "I always try to look for less sugar, organic when you can, but sugar is definitely what I look for most." Parents taking an active role is the best insurance against overweight kids. "It's all about choices and making appropriate choices. Looking at portion sizes, understanding that when your child says I'm hungry they might mean I'm bored," says Dr. Witham. In testimony that Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski called bone-chilling, Colorado mom Peggy Robertson recently shared with a Senate committee the unbelievable story of how a major health insurance carrier refused to insure her and what they suggested she do to make herself eligible for coverage. In 2007, Robertson was denied coverage by Golden Rule Insurance, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. In a letter explaining the denial, the company claimed that Robertsons previous C-section made her a financial risk for the company. If she had another C-section within the first three years of coverage, the company would not profit from her policy. It was a risk they werent willing to take and because the Colorado Insurance Division would not allow them to exclude C-section benefits for the first three years, they denied her coverage altogether. Robertsons story may sound all too familiar, but unfortunately it doesnt end there. In that same letter, Golden Rule went on to suggest what Robertson might do to make herself eligible for coverage: Get sterlized. That an insurance company would dare to even hint that a healthy woman should be medically sterilized so they can make a profit is, in the words of Senator Mikulski, morally repugnant. But lets face it, women already get the short end of the stick when it comes to health care coverage. Possessing a womb makes us a liability in the eyes of insurers and more than half of them dont even offer maternity coverage. Those who do will often raise the premiums of women who have had C-sections or, as in Robertsons case, refuse to cover them at all. Of course, women arent the only ones getting a raw deal from profit-driven health insurance companies. Americans are suffering all over under our current system of health care. But when the largest insurance company in the United States feels like they have a right to plan your family to benefit their bottom line, we have a serious problem. NM Department Of Health And Local Restaurants Work Together To Take On Obesity
Obesity rates have impacted health in the United States for years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ranks New Mexico the thirtieth most obese in the nation. The New Mexico Department of Health does offer some good news in the fight against obesity. The department cites a report by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that says obesity rates in the state have fallen for children from lower income families, ages 2 to 4. The Foundation also says the number of obese adults in New Mexico is stabilizing at 27.1 percent. The New Mexico Department of Health credits programs like Healthy Kids Las Cruces and another with area restaurants that offers healthy eating tips. The department launched the "Healthy Eating on the Go" program with area restaurants to offer tips for healthy choices while dinning out. Brandie White, Region Health Promotion Specialist for the department says a focus of the program has been on eating local. "Eating is about having fun, spending time with family, and hopefully getting a taste of Las Cruces," says White. Tips ranging from asking for sauce on the side to suggesting vegetables, or a salad with your entree are listed on posters and table tints at participating restaurants. One local restaurant taking part in the program is Boba Café in Las Cruces. Jourdyn Sullivan, General Manager at Boba Café says many of their customers already practice healthy eating habits and eat smaller portions. "I get a lot of conscious people, so they tend to ask for a box right away, and we just bring it or box it for them," Says Sullivan. You can't miss the healthy eating tips on a large poster at the register of the restaurant. Making sure that the restaurants have plenty of information is key according to Brandie White, with the New Mexico Department of Health. "We've provided more signage, because they tend to wear out on the tables. We are in the process of that and bringing in more restaurants," says White. The New Mexico Department of Health says this project offers quick and easy tips you can use when you eat out. The department says other initiatives showing results are mandatory healthy food in schools, more opportunities to be physically active, shopping local, and having transportation plans that encourage walking and biking. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says New Mexico is one of 19 states to see a decline in obesity. However, the New Mexico Department of Health says that obesity is still a problem in New Mexico, and the rest of the country. The least obese state in the United States is Colorado with a rate of 20.5 percent.

Visit: http://healthamerica.legitgigs.online & apply for a free health insurance quote and compare rates from local and national carriers. In this video, I will share with you a resource that I found that will enable you to find good health insurance that is affordable for you and your family. As You Already Know, Health Insurance Can Be Very Expensive: Annual premiums for employer-sponsored family health coverage reached $17,545 this year, up 4 percent from last year, with workers on average paying $4,955 towards the cost of their coverage -- according to the Kaiser Family Foundation/HealthResearch & Education Trust. -Ref: Sep 22, 2015. Health insurance premiums are projected to increase in 2017. This is due to problems with the state exchanges are resulting in projected premium hikes in numerous states, including California and Michigan, driven by requested increases from insurers like UnitedHealth and Humana in the exchanges they are still involved in. An executive working for Deloitte (center for health solutions) told Politico that "a number of carriers need double-digit increases" next year due to the unpredictable and dynamic nature of Obamacare. But You Don’t Want To Get Just Any Cheap Health Insurance Right? The state exchanges are bleeding insurers. Among them are Humana, Premera Blue Cross and UnitedHealthcare–the largest health insurer in the country–that are leaving various state exchanges. Insurers like Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield and the nonprofit Kaiser Foundation are also raising questions about the programs viability and others, like Cigna and Anthem, have not been doing well in the exchanges. In fact, the poor results of the exchanges have made it likely that the bronze plans will be scrapped altogether. The reasons for the detrimental quality of the exchanges: high-cost risk pools and...ObamaCare #’s aren’t up to par. Proactive Healthcare versus Reactive Healthcare
Dr. Rodney Dunetz founder of the Dunetz Wellness Center and Acupuncture Boca Raton talks about Proactive Healthcare versus Reactive Healthcare. Americans spend an estimated $3 trillion on healthcare each year, which is nearly twice the amount of the developed world. Whether it’s going to the doctor for a routine “checkup,” getting a prescription for your back pain, or having a surgical procedure performed, healthcare is downright expensive. Dr. Gabbe talks about health care reform
Steven G. Gabbe, M.D. CEO, The Ohio State University Medical Center Dr. Gabbe on Health Care Reform What people really need is care for their children, care if theyre pregnant, prevention and wellness services, and catastrophic care. Thats whats most important. If we had that, that would make an enormous difference. Because people dont come in for prevention and wellness services because they cant afford them or theyre not covered by their insurance, they come in late for prenatal care which increases their risk for premature birth or other pregnancy complications, they dont have coverage for catastrophic disasters, a car accident for example, and so their savings are wiped out. We also need to look at the new medical home model, where people will have a cadre of individuals caring for them. Therell be a team leader of the medical home, who might be their primary care doctor, but there will be a nurse practitioner, a nutritionist, there may be a specialist who enters and oversees the care during a period of illness, but there will be a team approach. Thats something we can do here that others cant do because we have all the members of the team in our different health sciences colleges on one campus so we can train people to work as part of that medical home team.

It's Sugar Not Fat That Makes Us Obese- Sugar Industry Lied
Go To http://www.InsuredMeds.com for FREE Quotes & Info It's Sugar Not Fat That Makes Us Obese- Sugar Industry Sugar Industry Hid Its Link To Diseases Investigators report that industry misled us all!! They misled us that it was fats In the 1960s, a debate began over the effect of sugar and fats on cardiovascular disease. Researchers say that the sugar industry, wanting to influence the discussion, funded research to look into sugar consumption. And when it found data suggesting that sugar was harmful, the powerful industry pointed a finger at fats. Newly uncovered historical documents indicate the industry never disclosed the findings of its work and effectively misled the public to protect its economic interests. Food Industry The researchers’ claim that the sugar industry misled the public mirror accusations the tobacco industry faced. A trial was held in 2004 to determine whether tobacco industry officials had intentionally deceived Americans for years into thinking that smoking did not cause cancer, despite acknowledging the dangers of smoking among themselves. Eight months later, the tobacco industry was asked to pay $10 billion over five years to help millions of Americans quit smoking. The penalty was less than 8 percent of what the government had asked for when proceedings began. Sugar Paid Off Studies Tuesday’s report isn’t the first time that decades-old documents appear to show that the sugar industry distorted medical research. A 2015 report published in the journal PLOS Medicine described a national campaign in the 1960s to boost cavity prevention and a government research program created to curb tooth decay by the 1970s. But instead of encouraging people to eat less sugar, the government — swayed by sugar industry interests — pushed alternative methods such as ways to break up dental plaque and vaccines for fighting tooth decay. In 1964, the group now known as the Sugar Association looked for ways to soften “negative attitudes toward sugar” after studies began linking sugar with heart disease. The group approved “Project 226,” in which it paid Harvard researchers today’s equivalent of $48,900 to write an article reviewing those studies. The article, published in 1967, concluded that there was “no doubt” that the only dietary intervention needed to prevent heart disease was reducing cholesterol and saturated fat. The researchers played down the effects of sugar, according to an analysis of historical documents published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine. What I recommend: • Educate yourself about what the food industry is doing to your health and life expectancy. • Obesity , diabetes, cardiovascular disease, strokes and early ageing are result of far too much sugar in our diets. Now that you have been made aware, don’t let the food industry continue to harm your health and shorten your life. Please subscribe and share this information it could save someone's life. The Health Data Revolution: Improving Outcomes, Protecting Privacy
Will the next great medical insight come from a clinical trial, a laboratory study — or a database search? Today, health systems and insurers have access to a mountain of data about millions of Americans: what medications they take, their health history, even, in some cases, their genetics—plus an emerging body of mobile health data. Using “big data” techniques, doctors and researchers are already mining this data to deliver better care and to gain insights into the kind of hyper-specific questions that clinical trials and observational studies struggle to answer. The approach promises major, rapid-fire, highly-personalized discoveries. At the same time, with the specter of cyberattacks and hacks looming, the need for rugged privacy protection has never been greater. In this Forum, experts in healthcare data and privacy will discuss the potential for future discovery, practical steps to enable progress, and how information can be kept secure. Part of the The Dr. Lawrence H. and Roberta Cohn Forums, this event was presented jointly with HuffPost on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Watch the entire series at ForumHSPH.org.
