The idea of Hanging Gardens is as old as cities. There is a growing interest in the application of vertical gardens in the landscape arena as land becomes more valuable and house sections become smaller. Hanging Gardens is leading the way in NZ. Hanging Gardens offers an exciting range of environmentally friendly products, which allow the home owner to increase the amount of gardening space, turn ugly fences or balconies into beautiful living walls and create corridors of vegetation. Hanging Gardens are botanically superior to the vast majority of other products as they have interchangeable inner felt pockets. This unique feature helps with water retention and allows the plants to be sustainable over the long term. It also makes for easy maintenance and plant care, keeping the garden looking good throughout the year. If you would like to know about us please visit our website at: http/www.hanginggardens.co.nz

The tall, red sandstone columns of the Australian War Memorial, grouped and interspersed with red flowering eucalyptus trees, immediately calls to mind the red continent of our neighbour, while use of basalt represents New Zealand’s landform. Polished black basalt panels inserted within the columns reflect the sky and bring an ephemeral quality to the strongly rooted columns. Indigenous art engravings on the polished surfaces blends the essence of both countries with the many shared theatres of war that are engraved on the stone surfaces in a more traditional, commemorative manner. The location of the Memorial within the new Pukeahu Park, on the central axis with the Carillion and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, reinforces the central ceremonial space of the park. The 6 m tall columns respond to the Carillion tower, faced across the parade ground, providing a boundary to the plaza. The gum trees will shelter the area when grown, their lightness contrasting with the denser pohutukawa supporting the Carillion. This is an inspiring and emotionally telling piece of landscape design which both commemorates and celebrates the close relationship of these two ANZAC neighbours. Its beauty and strength are in its simplicity, while multiple messages are included for those who tarry in the shade of the trees. Its presence will resonate for generations to come.
In this Just the Job episode, we have three more career opportunities that just might be what you’re looking for. When you are building new or renovating your existing property, there are a number of things that need to be considered ... one of why would be "when do I need to begin thinking about landscaping? Garden design (also known as garden landscaping) is something that should be considered at the beginning of both of these stages. Just like how you'd organise a building contractor at the beginning of the new building process, you'd need to organise a garden designer as well. There are a number of reasons for this, the general one being that this allows the architect and the garden designer to work together to arrange a property that best suits the clients needs. The Wellington Botanic Garden features 25 hectares of unique landscape, protected native forest, conifers, specialised plant collections, colourful floral displays, and views over Wellington city. It is classified as a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and is an Historic Places Trust Heritage Area. In 1844, the New Zealand Company set aside a 5.26 hectare strip of land for a Botanic Garden reserve. At that time the land was covered in dense podocarp forest including rimu, totara and matai. The Garden was established in 1868 and managed by the New Zealand Institute. Trees growing today on Druid Hill and Magpie Spur grew from seedlings planted at this time, and are some of the oldest exotic trees in New Zealand. In the 1870s the fledgling garden was boosted with a further 21.85 hectares of reserve. Wellington City Council has managed the Botanic Garden since 1891.

We demonstrate a variety of garden designs. If you dream of the traditional and quaint, visit the heritage and rambling varieties in the Historic Garden or the Reflective Rose Garden. These are complemented by flowering perennials and annuals which are so enjoyed by the beneficial insects, birds and bees. If you just want to relax into the scented atmosphere of modern and heritage cultivars, find a quiet spot by the pond in the Reflective Garden. The mountains are the limit for Valda Poletti and her husband Dave Clarkson. They were both passionate outdoor adventurers when they met, but later on with the arrival of children and busy careers they needed a solution. That solution was to bring the great outdoors to suburbia. [Valda Poletti, Gardener]: Weve created this lovely little space with birds singing, the rustle of the leaves, the alpine plants flowering, the smells, the fragrance of New Zealand nature. Valda and Dave have successfully re-created a fernery, alpine meadow and wetland, similar to what is found in New Zealands wild. Their garden named Te Kainga Marire Mar rear re is renowned for its wide use of indigenous plants and has since been awarded Garden of International Significance' [Dave Clarkson, Gardener]: There's not many plants that have been collected from the wild; it's against our principles to take from the wild, so youre normally reliant on people like ourselves who collect it. Their half-acre plot in New Plymouth, New Zealand was a dense clay waste land covered in gorse and blackberry before they began. 35 years on, its a native plant paradise, making those years of hard work well worth it. [Valda Poletti, Gardener]: We dont have to go racing off on holiday somewhere to find happiness because we are happy here everyday, 12 months of the year, so thats been the real benefit. So if you're in this neck of the woods, Valda and Daves garden is open daily from September to April to anyone wanting to draw a little green inspiration. NTD, Taranaki, New Zealand. NTDTV's official YouTube Channel got taken down for some weird reason, so I thought it would be a good time to upload some of their noteworthy videos again and it's also to remind you guys that you can actually still find ALL their programming on their website: http://english.ntdtv.com - So just cause Google is probably bowing to China again doesn't mean they are gone - go visit their website, they don't only have news on human rights in China, but have 24 hour programming with live streaming.

https://www.expedia.com/Auckland.d178233.Destination-Travel-Guides With 1.5 million lucky people calling Auckland home, this North Island gem is the most populous city in New Zealand. Auckland tourism is quite diverse, giving visitors a bounty of choices for how to spend their time. The city marries modern buildings and art with nature, and the surrounding region has plenty of its own attractions to offer. Auckland is called the City of Sails, boasting more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Nestled between two natural harbors, it’s no wonder residents and visitors alike enjoy spending time on the water. After a breakfast in Elliott Stables, take off on a boat cruise from downtown to explore the sights of Hauraki Gulf. With your feet back on solid ground, enjoy Auckland sightseeing and shopping along Queen Street. Jet over to Ponsonby, which is considered one of the more hip neighborhoods in Auckland. When lunchtime rolls around, find your way to Devonport, a lovely harborside suburb where you can enjoy a seafood lunch. With a contented stomach, spend some time at Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park. Watch a game of cricket, walk through the Formal Gardens, or take a leisurely stroll through the mature trees. If you’re interested in even more of New Zealand’s natural landscape, head just outside the city for rolling hills, jagged cliffs, and forests with towering treetops. Walk through the Hauna Ranges and you’ll be rewarded with the Hunua Falls, an impressive waterfall rushing over a volcanic edge. Visitors interested in adventurous Auckland tours must head to the downtown Sky Tower before leaving New Zealand. This is the tallest man-made building in the entire country – and it offers a breathtaking base jump from the top. If you’re not in the mood for that much adrenaline, head to the observation platform to take in sweeping views of the city and harbor. What do you most look forward to doing in Auckland? Listing link: http://harcourts.co.nz/GR160713 History has been saved and enriched at this unique home in Greytown. Crowned with a scarlet red roof complementing the tree-scape, the eye catching black exterior on this two-storey triumph is a clever clue to what lies inside. The vendors have professional backgrounds in design and interiors and have fully renovated this property into the realms of fantastic elegance. A black, white and tan interior colour scheme oozes class and the house can be sold furnished, so new owners can enjoy the hand-picked furniture and art. The house was built in 1949 entirely from native Matai timber, in the gracious Wellington Harbour suburb of Eastbourne. Designed by significant Wellington architect Gray Young, it was a house of note in Lower Hutt, with past owners including a New Zealand attorney-general. It was moved to Bulls, where the savvy current owners spotted it by chance and relocated the building to a private back section in one of Greytown's most desirable streets. Restored and fitted out for modern living, the house has been thoughtfully extended and circled by beautiful, classical landscaping. Neo-Georgian style pillars at the tiled front entrance offer each arrival a refined welcome, after driving onto the spacious vehicle bays, or into the double garage. From the front door, turn right into the serene, tiled Garden Room, where white wooden shutters offer control of all-day sun. From here, doors open to the checkerboard pavers and grass, the pergola and romantic arbour walk. The Summer Room is a central haven - a quiet sitting spot for entertaining guests in the evening, or finding a calming shelter from high-summer heat. Snuggle into the Winter Room, with electric central heating controlled from your bed upstairs, combatting frosty mornings with the touch of a button. The open plan Winter Room combines living, cooking and eating, with space for a table, TV zone and high-spec kitchen with induction cooking and Smeg multi-function ovens. A laundry nook is tucked behind bi-folds, with quick access to the back door. The separate dining room is sophisticated and formal, centred by a 1920s French art deco chandelier. Style continues into the downstairs powder room, with feature wallpaper jazzing up the space. Upstairs, the three bedrooms are also flooded with light. The master has an opulent ensuite and private roof-top balcony with views to the mountains. The second double bedroom is close to the family bathroom, where vintage sideboards accompany the freestanding tub and tiled walk-in shower. The quirky third bedroom is perfectly set up for children and their toys, or for a quiet study. There is a fourth room currently used as a walk-in-wardrobe and dressing room with the versatility to be converted back into a bedroom. Infinity gas hot water ensures reliable comfort around the clock, complemented by the heat-pump central heating and ceiling fans for tranquil airflow. There is nothing like this stand-out property in Greytown. It's primed for new owners to relish its history well into the next decades.
