Why is My Pregnancy Hormone Low?
Why is my pregnancy hormone low? You may have had a lot to drink. That’s how I think I may have gotten pregnant, not explain why the hormones test low now. They recommend you do pregnancy tests with first morning urine when the hormones in it are at the most concentrated. Later in the day, having a lot of water to drink, dilutes it so that it doesn’t test as concentrated. I’m worried that the low pregnancy hormone may indicate something is wrong. The pregnancy hormone levels double every few days until well into the first trimester. It is going to be low early on but should rise with time until leveling off. Does it ever drop off? I’d hope it drops off after you have the baby. I mean after a pregnancy test. You can get variations between pregnancy tests results early on, like one of those ultra-sensitive ultra-expensive pregnancy tests showing results, but a less sensitive one not showing a result or a faint line. That means the difference is between the tests. That’s why they sell single pregnancy tests next to bulk packages of pregnancy tests. I should not see a decrease in pregnancy hormones after the first test though. The first test of a day should show up stronger with the most concentrated urine, with a later test in the day having lower hormone levels via a paler stripe after you’ve had something to drink. Not that discussion again. Another possibility is that you were pregnant, but you’ve miscarried, so the hormone levels are dropping. Does that show up on a pregnancy test? The typical way would be a positive pregnancy test followed by not so strong test results followed by negative results, by which time you should see biological results. I have not had bad cramps or signs of a miscarriage. Remember that you have to be a few months along for the kid to be the size of your thumb; that’s why all the pregnancy calendars compare the kid to the size of melon balls and peas, not bowling balls. So you’re saying I could have miscarried and not noticed it. You’d notice that your period was late and maybe a little heavier, if that’s why the pregnancy hormones are declining. Because I’m not pregnant anymore. If you’re lucky, your hormones are simply not rising as fast as normal. But if in doubt, talk to a doctor. By the time I get into a doctor’s office, I’ll know one way or the other why the test results are what they are.

Can low progesterone levels cause miscarriages and preterm births?
First of all, I want to express my sympathies to you, and tell you I am so sorry for the recent loss of your baby girl. My heart goes out to you and your family during this time, and I hope the best for you in the future. Now you mentioned that you were getting progesterone supplements until about 15 weeks, you started spotting at 17, and then you delivered your baby girl at 19 weeks. And you're wondering if you were still taking progesterone if you could still be pregnant. Of course I don't know the answer to that for sure, but there are studies that show that progesterone can prolong pregnancy and help a woman to stay pregnant longer. And it's often prescribed to women who have a history of preterm labor or birth. So next time you get pregnant, I recommend seeing a doctor - let them know about your whole history, everything that happened last time and in situations before that, and chances are because of your strong history of preterm labor and delivery, they will probably recommend progesterone. I sincerely hope the very best for you in the future, and if you have anymore questions in the future, please don't ever hesitate to ask. http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms

Why is My Progesterone Low in Early Pregnancy?
Why is my progesterone low in early pregnancy? You may not be as far along as you think you are. The sonogram is what gave me the conception date. The progesterone levels may not be rising as fast as you think they should the same way other pregnancy hormones may rise, but not double every two days. So you think it is low because it is not rising as fast as it normally does. That’s one possible reason. Another is that the corpus luteum is not developing right. I do not know what that is. It is the thing that interfaces between your body and the baby’s until the placenta takes over in week ten. This does not sound good. If the corpus luteum is not developing right, you do not see progesterone levels rise as is necessary to prevent uterine contractions and the immune system response. If the organ responsible for nourishing the baby doesn’t generate that hormone, you get contractions and an immune response. In other words, a miscarriage. I do not want to miscarry. If the life support system cannot support the baby, that is the end result. Fortunately, I have not been having cramps or bleeding. Low progesterone could mean you have toxemia. OK, that’s worse. Toxemia is life threatening. I’d put it in context by asking what other symptoms you’re having. Such as? Abdominal pain could be a sign of a miscarriage, or it could mean you have bad heart burn and indigestion. Or an ectopic pregnancy. Vaginal bleeding after low progesterone levels is a pretty sure sign of a miscarriage. Short of that, I’d say a lot of this is hormones until the doctor says otherwise. Can the doctor do much of anything? There are things a doctor can give you to reduce the odds of miscarriage if the problem is your hormones, like a thyroid out of whack. If it is a problem with the fetus, they cannot do anything until it is old enough to go into NICU. I’ve heard that the doctor can do something about low progesterone. Sometimes they start oral progesterone. Other times they give it as a suppository. I usually think of those as something old people use. A progesterone suppository is something some pregnant women use to keep the levels high enough to avoid a miscarriage. I’ll get over the yuck factor then, since the doctor’s going to be poking around there for a long time, hopefully.

Low Progesterone Pregnancy
Low Progesterone Pregnancy The ovaries in women produce a hormone called progesterone that prepares the uterus for pregnancy, which is essential for maintaining healthy pregnancy once it has occurred. By the end of the first trimester, your placenta will also start producing progesterone until the delivery. Higher levels of progesterone are important during pregnancy; in fact, a healthy pregnant woman will produce 10 times progesterone as compared to a woman who is not pregnant. Insufficient levels of progesterone will make it difficult for a woman to conceive and increase the risk for miscarriage.

Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that occurs outside the uterus. Normally, fertilization takes place in the widest section of the fallopian tube. The fertilized egg then travels toward the uterus where it is to be implanted. Ectopic pregnancy happens when the egg gets stuck on its way and starts to develop inside the tube. This is known as tubal pregnancy. Implantation may also occur in the cervix, ovaries and abdominal cavity but tubal pregnancy is by far the most common. With extremely rare exceptions, the fetus cannot survive outside the uterus. Without treatment, the growing tissue may rupture, resulting in destruction of the surrounding maternal structures and a massive blood loss that could be life-threatening. An ectopic pregnancy may have no signs, or may feel like a normal pregnancy at first, with positive pregnancy test result for hCG. First clinical symptoms usually appear after 4 weeks from the last normal menstrual period and may include abdominal pain, vag. bleeding, or both. There may also be shoulder pain. If the fallopian tube ruptures, heavy bleeding, fainting and shock can be expected. This is a medical emergency and requires immediate attention. Tubal pregnancy occurs because of problems in transportation of the fertilized egg through the tube. Fallopian tubes are lined with hair-like structures called cilia that help to move the egg through. It is believed that a reduction in number of cilia may slow down the transport and lead to tubal pregnancies. Cilia degeneration can happen as a result of tubal tissue scarring or as an effect of certain chemicals or drugs. Risks factors include: -Inflammation of fallopian tubes – salpingitis; or infection of pelvic organs - pelvic inflammatory disease. These infections are commonly caused by gonorrhea or chlamydia. -Use of an intrauterine device as a contraceptive method -Tubal or intrauterine surgeries such as tubal ligation, tubal reversal and dilation & curettage -Previous ectopic pregnancy -Abnormal fallopian tubes due to birth defects -Smoking -Exposure to certain fertility drugs -Daughters of mothers who have taken the synthetic estrogen diethylstilbestrol during pregnancy Diagnosis is often based on blood tests for hCG and a transvaginal ultrasound. If the ectopic pregnancy is detected early, methotrexate may be injected to dissolve the pregnancy tissue. In other cases, a keyhole surgery may be performed. If the fallopian tube has ruptured, an emergency open surgery is required. The ruptured tube is usually removed. After treatment the hCG levels are monitored to ensure that the entire ectopic tissue has been taken out. An hCG level that remains high would require further treatment.

Estrogen vs Progesterone Hormonal Dominance: Control Low Hormones Symptoms
http://getleantoday.com - Dr. Raj Banerjee shares the key differences between estrogen and progesterone. Steroids are a group of hormones that regulate body functions – and they are all derived from cholesterol. Or fat. That’s right, fat. Estrogen, which is usually the focus of HRT, is actually a generic term for three different forms of hormone called Estriol, Estrodiol and Estrone - Estrodiol being the most potent. Estrogen is called the female sex hormone because it regulates the menstrual cycle and causes thing to grow during puberty – Dr Raj likes estrogen because it creates curves and it also stimulates cell growth in preparation for pregnancy. Estrogen is a growth hormone. It has received a lot of bad press because people have been taking too much estrogen in the form of synthetic hormone for a long period of time. And any hormone you take in excess is going to cause problems. And a growth hormone like estrogen if you take too much of it. You are going to get excessive cell growth which is another term for what we call cancer. So its understandable, estrogen is not good or bad, but if you take too much estrogen its going to cause problems. Progesterone is the pro gestational hormone. It’s the hormone that keeps the uterine lining intact if you get pregnant. And its depleted when you are under stress. So the typical reaction is high stress, high cortisol levels when you are under stress and the depletion of the progesterone. Its pretty amazing what progestronine helps with. It helps protect from many of the negative effects of extra estrogen. It helps women sleep. It gives them better sex drive, better energy levels, makes your skin look better. It’s a wonderful hormone. If we compare them side-by-side, you’ll see that they counterbalance each other in many ways. There’s an ideal ratio between these two hormones. Estrogen given in too large of a dose can cause depression, headaches, it increases the risk of blood clotting and stroke. It causes the loss of many nutrients such as zink and copper. It interferes with oxygen levels. Again that in a person that is getting excessive estrogen which has basically been the history of menopausal treatment. Dr Raj wants to leave you with an important point to free yourself from chronic fatigue and pain and depression and overweight. Ovarian hormones do not spontaneously malfunction by themselves. The female hormones do not all of a sudden malfunction by themselves. They are responding to stress as a stress hormone called cortisol. Every molecule of cortisol that you produce comes from progesterone. When you are under stress guess what happens? Your cortisol goes up and your progesterone drops. Dr Raj wants to test your cortisol and fix it. And he wants to test your female hormone and fix your whole hormonal system at the same time and make all your symptoms go away. That will help eliminate depression and fatigue. Night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings etc. and it will improve your metabolism so you will able to start losing weight. How stress affects unborn baby Can Your Stress Affect Your Fetus?
how stress affects unborn baby How stress effects unborn baby Bringing a new person into the world is no easy task. You worry about everything. Are the foods you eat healthy enough? Is it safe to exercise? How will you juggle work and parenthood once baby arrives? Some stress during pregnancy is normal, just as it is during other times of life. But if stress becomes constant, the effects on you and your baby could be lasting. When you’re stressed, your body goes into "fight or flight" mode, sending out a burst of cortisol and other stress hormones. These are the same hormones that surge when you are in danger. They prepare you to run by sending a blast of fuel to your muscles and making your heart pump faster. If you can deal with your stress and move on, your stress response will recede and your body will go back into balance. But "the kind of stress that’s really damaging is the kind that doesn’t let up," says Susan Andrews, PhD, a clinical neuropsychologist and author of the book Stress Solutions for Pregnant Moms: How Breaking Free From Stress Can Boost Your Baby’s Potential. In fact, constant stress could alter your body’s stress management system, causing it to overreact and trigger an inflammatory response. Inflammation, in turn, has been linked to poorer pregnancy health and developmental problems in babies down the road. "There are some data to show that higher chronic stressors in women and poor coping skills to deal with those stressors may be associated with lower birth weight and with delivering earlier," says Ann Borders, MD, MPH, MSc. She is an OB/GYN in the obstetrics and gynecology department, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, at Evanston Hospital, NorthShore University HealthSystem. Maternal Stress and the Fetal Brain Chronic stress may also contribute to subtle differences in brain development that might lead to behavioral issues as the baby grows, she adds. Research in this area is still early, and doctors still need to figure out the exact link between stress and pregnancy outcomes. Even so, it’s an important factor for pregnant women to consider, especially if they’re dealing with chronic stress -- for example, from financial or relationship troubles. "We know that we want to think about how to reduce unhealthy stress and find ways to help women have better coping mechanisms to deal with the stress in their lives," Borders says. You shouldn’t feel guilty about stress, she adds, but you should try to control it as much as you can. Pregnancy Chill Pills Andrews offers a few ways to manage stress during pregnancy. Take stock. Talk to your doctor about what’s causing you to feel stressed. Together you can look for solutions, which might include meditation, prenatal yoga, or talk therapy. Sing a song. Even if you can’t carry a tune, hum in your head. Music helps control cortisol levels. Relax. Take a warm bath. Have a cup of tea. Curl up with a book. You’ll have precious few chances to pamper yourself once your baby arrives. https://www.youtube.com/user/ChildbirthClasses?sub_confirmation=1 visit us www.injoyvideos.com

What level of blood Beta HCG confirms pregnancy? - Dr. Phani Madhuri
This is the most anticipated tests in women who are undergoing fertility treatment month on month. Blood beta HCG is a test done to determine whether the woman is pregnant or not or to detect various other conditions like cancers etc. But beta HCG is a hormone produced from the corpus luteal cells which supports the fertilized egg in the first few weeks of pregnancy. So beta HCG is detected as early as 10 days that is after the implantation has happened and it becomes very obvious after 14 to 16 days after the implantation process that is roughly about 1 month from your last menstrual period. Usually a value of above 5 could be a determinant factor based on the length of the duration of the cycle or the day of the cycle of the period. But mostly a value of 25 or 50 milli international units is considered as a positive sign in pregnancy. Now single value of beta HCG does not give you any information whether the pregnancy is there or it is going or it is failing. Beta HCG is one of the methods to assess the quality of the pregnancy or the ongoing pregnancy. If the quality of the pregnancy is good and the beta HCG levels double every 48 hours, or there is about 80% increase in beta HCG levels every 48 hours. When this is not happening, then it is nor a very healthy pregnancy, it could be an early miscarriage; it can be an ablighted womb, rarely an ectopic pregnancy. If the beta HCG value is more than double in 48 hours, then it could be wrong dates or multiple pregnancies or it can be molar pregnancy. Now a value of 8 milli international units per ml, if I is pregnancy positive or not. It is a very tricky question. A value of 8 seen on day 30, 35 or day 40 of the cycle, it may not be a very good sign but if the same value is seen probably on day 8 or 9 or day 10 after the implantation, it will be assign of positive pregnancy and you can chart it upwards and see if the value is doubling or not to assess if the pregnancy is going on well or not.

What can cause low BP in Pregnancy?-Dr. Sunita Pawar Shekokar
Low BP in pregnancies, especially the late first trimester and the early or the mid second trimester is very common. Why does this occur? Because of your pregnancy hormones. It causes dilatation of the blood vessels and this dilatation of the blood vessels causes the low BP. Low BP means your BP can go upto 90/50 mm of Mercury. That is absolutely normal.

Why is My Stomach so Bloated in Early Pregnancy?
Why is my stomach so bloated in early pregnancy? I’m assuming you are not way off on your due date. The doctor did a sonogram, so we know how far along I am. And are you doing double duty? No, it is not twins. Are you eating as if you’re eating for two? You could be putting on the pounds way faster than you should. You’re supposed to gain around forty pounds over the course of the pregnancy. Ten of those are the baby, ten are blood and guts you’ll lose during delivery, maybe five to ten are in your bigger breasts and feet and the rest are the extra few pounds of baby fat. So do not gain forty pounds. At this point, you should only feel forty pounds heavier because of the fatigue from throwing up or extra demands on the cardiovascular system. I have been throwing up a lot. That can lead to dehydration, so you need to drink a lot. I try to drink as much as I can. You could have bloating because of high salt intake from food cravings, but insufficient hydration to rinse it out. So chips without a lot to drink can cause me to feel bloated. To be fair, it could be the constant snacking on chocolate, ice cream and sweets without enough oatmeal and other sources of fiber. I’m already peeing for two. Why poop for two? You may feel bloated because you are not eating enough fiber. Drinking more water should help with the passing too. Try drinking more water to ease the bloating due to water retention and fiber to solve that due to gas. And spend even more time in the bathroom. What else is going on? Remember that the stomach is going to expand as the kid grows, and your hips are supposed to widen permanently. Do not blame things on bloating that are normal body changes. This is more than normal body changes. Then you can blame the progesterone that makes the soft muscle tissue relax so the uterus expands, but it slows down digestion. I’ve been told that’s why pregnant women fart and burp more. You can blame it all on the baby, and if you want, continue to do so after the kid’s in your lap. That does not make up for the various leaking orifices. Try eating more fiber and drinking more water to offset the slowed down digestion that can lead to more bloating, plus more smaller meals to reduce the bloat that can cause. Permission to eat more snacks is not fair if I have to give up the grease and sugar.

Low Blood Pressure During Pregnancy
Few questions exist as to effects that pregnancy has on a woman’s body. As her hormones fluctuate, a woman may feel fit and energized one day, but fatigue and nauseous the next. However, one of the greatest impacts that expecting a baby can have on a woman’ body involves the fluctuation of her blood pressure. Low blood pressure, while common in most pregnancies, can have alarming results and necessitate a woman needing more specialized medical help and hospitalization if necessary.

11 Signs Your Body Needs More Magnesium
Magnesium is a mineral found in many types of foods, it plays an essential role in human DNA production, repair and in maintaining healthy bones, nerves and muscles. Though it is readily available, most Americans do not meet their need for magnesium through their diet. you should consider getting your magnesium level checked if you suffer the following 11 symptoms. 1. Low energy. Magnesium is involved in at least 300 different chemical reactions in our body, and a lot have to do with energy production. A sign of low magnesium can be low energy. 2.Insomnia. If you're having a hard time falling or staying asleep, it may be due to low levels of magnesium, particularly if you are experiencing a lot of stress. Stress hormones increase blood pressure and heart rate, this is partly accomplished by depleting the body of its magnesium If there isn't enough magnesium available for the body to replenish itself, sleeping becomes a problem. 3.Constipation. Bowel movements often slow down without enough magnesium in the body. note that magnesium is the main ingredient in many over-the-counter laxatives. 4.Frequent headaches. Magnesium deficiency lowers serotonin levels, causes blood vessels to constrict and affects neurotransmitter function, all related to headaches -- especially migraines. 50% of migraine sufferers have a magnesium deficiency. 5.Twitching or cramping. Because magnesium plays an important role in muscle relaxation, insufficient intake can result in unintended muscle movement. Without magnesium, our muscles would be in a constant state of contraction 6.Low bone density. Magnesium plays a major role in bone formation, and the majority of the body's magnesium is stored in the bones. People with higher intakes of magnesium have a higher bone mineral density. 7.High blood pressure. Magnesium is very important in maintaining a healthy blood pressure, a deficiency can definitely cause pressure to be too high. Eating foods high in magnesium and other minerals can help prevent high blood pressure in people with prehypertension. 8.Type 2 diabetes. Breaking down blood sugars is another of magnesium's jobs in the human body. People with higher amounts of magnesium in their diets tend to have a lower risk of developing diabetes. Research is ongoing to determine whether magnesium therapy can be used in diabetes treatment. 9.Irregular heartbeat. With low magnesium levels, the heart can have trouble staying in its regular rhythm. doctors will often prescribe magnesium supplements for patients who complain of an irregular heartbeat. 10.Increased sensitivity to noise. Not having enough magnesium curtails its role in stabilizing the nervous system, This often results in hyperflexia, an enhanced startle reflex. And 11. Depression and anxiety. Low levels of magnesium in the brain can affect neurological functions that result in all sorts of problems. Studies have shown that some phobias -- such as agoraphobia -- have developed as a result of low magnesium levels.  Please Subscribe! ▶ https://goo.gl/ksfh7M NOTE: The materials and the information contained on Natural ways channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. 8 Early Signs That You Are Pregnant
It is not quite that time of the month, yet your body is telling you something is not right. Luckily, identifying signs of pregnancy early on is simple, and a few signs are major indications that a pregnancy test is on the horizon. Metallic Taste in Mouth Metallic Taste in Mouth This early sign of pregnancy isn't as well known as some of the others, but it does happen to some women. Spotting and Cramping Spotting and Cramping Pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus. This can can cause cramping and spotting. Many women attribute these symptoms to the onset of their period since that, too, often brings about cramping and spotting. Bleeding that continues, however, requires a trip to the doctor. Mood Swings Mood Swings Hormonal fluctuations go hand in hand with mood swings, and since pregnancy causes a large amount of hormonal changes, pregnant women may experience emotional ups and downs early on. Fatigue and hunger can intensify the emotions, which makes the mood swings even worse. Fortunately, the emotions seem to even out after the first trimester ends. Frequent Urination Getty Images Frequent Urination Frequent urination is a common early sign of pregnancy, so if you find yourself getting up several times throughout the night to hit the bathroom, it might be time to take a pregnancy test. As the uterus grows during pregnancy, it puts pressure on the kidneys, which increases those trips to the bathroom. Dizziness Dizziness Feeling dizzy during early pregnancy is common since the body is undergoing so many different things. Some women feel light-headed constantly due to the major hormonal changes taking place. It can also indicate low blood pressure or low blood sugar, so if the dizziness continues, contact your doctor. Can't Handle the Smell of Certain Foods Can't Handle the Smell of Certain Foods If you find yourself suddenly disgusted with the smell of your favorite foods, this may indicate that you are pregnant. Your sense of smell heightens greatly during pregnancy, as all of the senses change. This means not only does smell change, so does taste, which makes some foods unappealing to you. Nausea and Vomiting Nausea and Vomiting As the body starts undergoing major changes, nausea and vomiting can occur. This is especially true during the morning hours or when a woman is subjected to certain smells. If you find yourself nauseous or vomiting daily, it is time to see a doctor. While this sign is one of the worst during pregnancy, it typically passes after the first trimester. Fatigue Fatigue Pregnancy takes a toll on the body, and some women find themselves needing to nap throughout the day. Pregnancy increases the body's production of progesterone, which causes fatigue. Luckily, this early sign of pregnancy is most common in the first trimester. Tender Breasts Getty Images Tender Breasts One of the biggest early signs of pregnancy is tender and swollen breasts. As the body produces more progesterone during pregnancy, it causes the breasts to swell and ache. Some women notice early on that the areas surrounding the nipple turn darker in color.

Beta hCG Test Defined
http://fertilitypartnership.com/infertility-glossary.html The Beta hCG test this is a test to check for pregnancy. You can test it at home with a kit that you can get from a pharmacy where you dip your morning urine to see if you're pregnant. There is also a blood test. With this blood test we can check positive or negative or actually get an absolute quantity--a number that helps us understand how pregnant you are and how your pregnancy is progressing. Now Beta hCG was not developed or created to just let human beings know that they're pregnant. It has a purpose in the human body as a hormone that is secreted by the embryo after it implants into the wall. Its job is to send a message to the ovary to continue to secrete progesterone. When you go through an assisted reproductive procedure, we often trigger ovulation by giving you Beta hCG. It helps trigger ovulation, so you don't want to test too early because sometimes what you're measuring is the Beta hCH that you got from us, from the doctors, so you have to wait a certain amount of time to be sure that the Beta hCG that you're measuring is really coming from your embryo implanted into your uterus. At the Fertility Partnership we give instruction to our patients about when and how to test themselves.

What Happens if Thyroid Level is High During Pregnancy?
What happens if thyroid level is high during pregnancy? The clinical term for the thyroids over producing hormones is hyperthyroidism. It can make you nervous, tired and with poor concentration. Kind of like pregnancy. You could end up with excessive sweating and diarrhea. That could leave someone dehydrated, on par with morning sickness. You could develop heart palpitations or an irregular heartbeat. That's life threatening. Aside from a blood test, what are signs of a high thyroid? Weight loss, an irregular heartbeat, moist skin and an enlarged thyroid to start. You'd also have hyperactive reflexes. I thought I already did, trying to keep up with a hyper toddler. Hair loss sometimes occurs. And don't joke about already wanting to pull your hair out, because thyroid problems can put your health at risk. What does the high thyroid level do when you're pregnant? Some women naturally have a highly active thyroid in the first trimester, especially pregnant with multiples, but the 10% of affected women usually go back to normal. Aside from dealing with twins or more. If you have chronic and uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, you are more likely to have a miscarriage, stillbirth and pre-term baby. What type of complications can it cause, other than the kid coming out too soon? You're at risk of pre-eclampsia, which is life threatening. And it can cause pre-term labor on its own. If you don't have enough thyroid hormone, I know they can give you artificial ones, like a diabetic taking insulin. What do they do for someone with too much thyroid production? PTU and MMI are used. While it affects the baby a little, lack of treatment is not an alternative. At least it's all over when I have the baby. If you have an over-active thyroid throughout the pregnancy, it may last a life-time. Let's focus on saving this kid's life first.

Early Symptoms of Pregnancy and Signs of Early Pregnancy, Earliest Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy
We Will Explain in this Video about Early Symptoms of Pregnancy and Signs of Early Pregnancy, Earliest Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy 1. Bleeding gums: Though not a common symptom, your gums will bleed when you brush or slowly massage them. Hormonal changes may be the cause of plaque build-up which is known to cause gum disease. Consult your doctor if it does not go off on its own. Do not brush hard or apply force on your gums while cleaning. Palmar Erythema: In some cases, you may notice redness on your palms, also referred to as red palms. An increase in estrogen along with increased blood volume causes the redness 3. Nasal congestion: Rising hormonal levels and blood production will affect the mucous membranes in the nostrils to swell, dry, and bleed. This will, therefore, lead to a runny or stuffy nose (5). 4. High basal body temperature: When you have been actively trying to conceive, you may chart your basal body temperature to check for ovulation. If you find the temperature has remained elevated for more than two weeks from ovulation, it means you are pregnant. 5. Low sexual desire: The hormonal changes in the body post pregnancy cause a decrease in your sex drive. Various other reasons such as fatigue, stress, medications, or excessive exercise can also sometimes cause a decrease in sexual interest. 6. Pigmentation: You are likely to notice some dark patches on your cheekbones, upper lip, bridge of the nose, and forehead. They are known to be pigmentation spots, otherwise called melasma or the Mask of Pregnancy. This occurs due to the over secretion of melanotropin hormone in your body during pregnancy. Sunlight can further worsen the condition. In most cases, the pigmentation lessens post delivery. 7. Dark line of hair on the body: Sometime around the third month, you will notice a dark line of hair in the front part of your body. It will mostly be a thin line of hair from the pubic bone towards the top of the uterus. If you have been pregnant earlier, the line may appear before pregnancy. 8. Acne: Pregnancy can often bring back your spells of acne that peppered your teenage years. You may have great glowing skin or oily and patchy skin. Drink lots of water and stay hydrated. Use products that work well for sensitive skin. If the problem persists or worsens, speak to your doctor about it. 9. Itching sensation on the skin: When you are pregnant, you will experience mild itching sensations on the skin. It happens due to the increase in blood supply to the skin. Wear loose and comfortable clothes. Ensure the fabric is soft and breathable, as it will help prevent the itching from worsening. Speak to your doctor about certain pregnancy creams that can prevent or reduce itching. If the condition gets severe, then talk to your doctor as it could be a condition known as obstetric cholestasis. 10. Spider veins: When you are pregnant, your body produces excess estrogen. As a result, you notice a sudden breakout of veins all over your body. Once you deliver your baby, the spider veins will slowly fade away. Speak to your doctor if you see them even after the delivery. 11. Dry skin: Your skin feels drier when you are pregnant. The various changes in hormonal levels, fatigue and lack of sleep can all aggravate the dryness. Use some home remedies and drink water and liquids to keep your skin hydrated and moisturised. If the condition worsens, speak to your doctor about safe topical treatments. 12. Enlargement of uterus: Your uterus will increase in size when you are pregnant. You will not be able to notice this change, but your doctor will observe this during a physical exam or imaging test. As your pregnancy progresses, your uterus will require more space to accommodate the growing baby. Other factors too could make your uterus increase in size. If you also experience symptoms such as pain during intercourse and heavy bleeding, do speak to your doctor about it. These are some of the tell-tale signs of pregnancy. While some symptoms can be seen immediately, most others may initially go unnoticed. If you experience a combination of the signs mentioned above and are not sure whether you are pregnant, you may then go for a home pregnancy test or speak to your doctor about it. early pregnancy symptoms

Each month, an egg is released from an ovary in a process called ovulation. At the same time, the lining of the uterus thickens, ready for pregnancy. If fertilization does not take place, the lining of the uterus is shed in menstrual bleeding and the cycle starts over. An ovary contains hundreds of thousands of primary oocytes - immature eggs, or ova. Each of these is enclosed in a structure called a follicle, and at this stage -- a primordial follicle. The menstrual cycle is under control of hormones secreted by the pituitary gland and the ovaries. The pituitary itself is under control of the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus produces a hormone called the gonadotropin-releasing hormone or GnRH. GnRH stimulates the anterior lobe of the pituitary to secrete follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). FSH travels in the bloodstream to the ovaries and stimulates a group of follicles to grow. These primordial follicles develop into primary follicles and then secondary follicles. These produce a hormone named estrogen which acts to stimulate the growth of the endometrium -- the inner lining of the uterus. The secondary follicles compete with each other and only one of them will survive and become a mature follicle, the rest atrophy and die. The increasing level of estrogen also acts on the hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary to increase the level of GnRH and induce the production of another hormone -- luteinizing hormone (LH). A surge in LH secretion triggers ovulation - the release of the egg from the follicle and the ovary. The egg is then swept up by the fimbriae (FIM-bree-ee) and taken into the uterine tube. Fertilization by a spermatozoon, when it occurs, usually takes place in the ampulla, the widest section of the fallopian tube. The fertilized egg immediately begins the process of development while travelling toward the uterus. After 6 days it becomes a blastocyst and is implanted into the endometrium of the uterus. Meanwhile, the left-over of the ruptured follicle has become a corpus luteum which secretes progesterone. Progesterone further stimulates uterine development making it a nutritious bed for the embryo in the event of pregnancy. In the absence of pregnancy, the corpus luteum atrophies and progesterone level falls. This leads to the breakdown of the endometrium, menstruation begins and the cycle starts over.
