Today, we’re going to be answering these questions and uncovering the real solutions to how to stay motivated to lose weight, backed by scientific solutions. Point #1. Motivation is fleeting and losing weight takes time The main problem people face when wondering how to stay motivated to lose weight is that motivation wears off and temptation will always exist. My boy Zig Ziglar has a good quote about the solution to this: “People often say motivation doesn’t last, well neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.” The secret here is to use our incredible 21st century technology to keep reinvigorating yourself with more motivation. The easy ways to do this are: • Listen to daily podcasts on being healthy • Read books our use audible.com to listen to health and fitness audiobooks • Or even attend conferences and events held on health and fitness All of these things will help re-inspire you and keep you motivated Point #2. Everyone has limited amounts of willpower Have you ever noticed it’s easier to make tough decisions in the morning but harder to make them evening? This is because your willpower, similar to a muscle, is a limited resource. After a long day of hard decision making, a psychological syndrome called decision fatigue sets in and makes it more difficult to say no to that pizza The solution here is to use habits instead of relying on willpower. Habits, since not consciously made, don’t dip into those willpower reserves and are decisions made on autopilot. Simple habits like drinking a large glass of water right when you wake up or not eating after 7pm are easy to establish and will help you when your motivation and willpower fades. Point #3. Progress can be deceiving The mirror plays games when It comes to losing weight and getting in shape. Many dieters have experienced the situation where they are losing weight and feeling better, but are seeing no physical results in the mirror. This can be crazy frustrating. The solution is that measurements don’t lie. It may not sound sexy, but diligent tracking progress is crucial for success • Yes, take photos, but also make sure to • Weigh yourself • Take measurements • Take videos • And keep studious track of these records. Progress = motivation and this will keep you from getting discouraged by the mirror. Point #4. Being healthy doesn’t have to suck When most people think about getting health and fit they envision eating dry chicken breast, bland broccoli, and running for hours on the treadmill. It doesn’t have to be like that, nor should it. Find something you love, especially when it comes to exercise • Yoga • Pilates • Boxing • Crossfit • Booty Bootcamp • Biking • Running • Hiking • Weight Lifting • Prancercising • Kayaking The are A TON of options With all those options out there, you have no excuse not to find something you love and can stick with. Remember a perfect workout routine you hate is going to be less effective than finding a type of exercise you love and can stick with. Point #5. Design small rewards for sticking to the plan All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We humans may think we are complex and gifted beings, however, we are still simple animals. Basic reward systems in almost all major weight loss studies work on us just like our furry brethren. As talked about in our previous video on New Year Resolutions, reward systems work. Having a cheat meal once a week or even a reward day every few weeks on a diet can provide a lot of psychological relief and something to look forward to on those more temptation filled days. So in summary the solutions for how to stay motivated to lose weight are: #1. Find a daily source of motivation #2. Focus on establishing 1-2 core habits you can stick with #3. Track your progress diligently #4. Find a type of exercise and diet plan you ENJOY #5. But, it turns out that in order to get the greatest benefits from drinking liquid in the morning you should enjoy a cup of hot water instead. Multiple studies have shown that drinking hot water on an empty stomach offers a lot of health benefits and is one of the best ways to start your day to get maximum productivity. Here is a brief list of some of those health benefits: 1. Relieves pain Drinking hot water has the ability to reduce swelling in the throat, which in turn provides temporary relief of pain. In fact, it does wonders for irritated and dry throats, too. This is especially useful in the mornings when you wake up with a dry throat that causes pain when swallowing. Surprisingly, a noticeable improvement can be experienced after taking the first sip of hot water. Ultimately, hot water also relieves cramps by relaxing the muscles of the stomach. 2. Improves bowel movements A study by the Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility has shown that up to 58 percent of patients suffering from achalasia, a condition in which the muscles of the lower esophagus do not relax, experienced a noticeable improvement in their condition after Of drinking hot water. Drinking a glass of warm water on an empty stomach is a good way to stimulate the colon to move the intestines easier. In addition, it sets the body for better absorption of food during the day. 3. Improves circulation Drinking hot water improves blood flow in the body's circulatory system. It has been scientifically proven that when the body is exposed to hot temperature, the blood cell flow initially raises by a dramatic amount. Then, it returns to normal blood flow velocity and begins to increase gradually more time is exposed to warmth. Hot water basically improves circulation by heating the body from the inside. 4. Weight Loss While staying well hydrated is generally beneficial for weight loss, it turns out that taking it warm is the best way to consume this liquid. In a study conducted by the Journal of Natural Science, Biology and Medicine focused on a group of overweight women who were given a lot of hot water. At the end of the study, it was found that women had experienced a noticeable decrease in appetite, weight and body mass index. Why is drinking cold water bad for you? Having a glass of cold water on a hot summer day is one of the best feelings of all! In fact, it helps to cool down in a matter of seconds, but does many other things to your body at the same time. Unfortunately, those things are not good for you. Cold water constricts blood vessels, which in turn reduces hydration Drinking cold water causes the body to work hard to digest food as cold liquids solidify the fats in the bloodstream The body expands energy when you drink cold water to warm it up and use it Cold water forms excess mucus in the respiratory system, leading to congestion and an increased risk of infections such as throat infection

In just the next few minutes, I’m going to share with you the 6 biggest weight loss mistakes that are made that are keeping you fat and preventing you from looking the way you want to, this time around. It is no secret that losing weight can be quite a struggle for many. This constant battle to drop weight and stick to a diet plan serve only to keep you frustrated and lacking confidence in your ability to stick to something. This doesn’t have to be the case. If you understand the real reasons why you are unable to stay consistent, then you will likely unlock your ability to get this right once and for all. This starts with not making yourself accountable. I like to think about this on a much deeper level than just saying you are going to do something and then not doing it. If only you are accountable to yourself without considering others, you will likely not hold this pursuit as dear as you could. Instead, think about what your not sticking to the plan could mean for those that find you to be an important part of their life. Will being unhealthy have an impact on your ability to provide for your family for as long as they are going to need you? Quite possibly so. Will failing to care about your own health set the wrong example for your kids who look up to you and everything you do? Likely so. Start realizing that others are watching and all of a sudden your own ability to value what it is you are chasing might skyrocket. Next is failing to find the eating style that fits your nutritional struggles at the moment. For example, if your main issue is that you mindlessly graze all day and eat at random times and adopt an intermittent fasting approach to fix this, you are likely setting yourself up for failure. Not because intermittent fasting is incapable of producing weight loss but rather in your specific case it is directly opposite of the mannerisms that are most embedded in your approach to eating right now. Instead, you would want to do IF if your issues revolved more on frequent large portion eating. Continuing on with diet and nutrition, what you drink is just as important as what solid foods you put in your mouth when attempting to lose weight. Failing to drink enough water early in the day is something that I’ve covered before on this channel but is no less important here. Seventy five percent of us walk around in a chronically dehydrated state. The secret to combatting dehydration is to never let yourself get there in the first place.
