Pulled Pork Basics
Perfectly pulled pork is the answer. The answer to dinner, deliciousness, convenience, meal planning, and did we mention deliciousness? This is really as easy as it gets. Season your pork shoulder, place in the slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours, remove, shred and devour! PERFECT PULLED PORK 3-4 pound boneless pork shoulder 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika 2 teaspoons black pepper 1 teaspoon cayenne 1 teaspoon ground thyme 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup water Combine all the seasonings in a small bowl and rub evenly over roast. Place meat in a slow cooker. Add water. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours or until pork is very tender. Remove pork to a large cutting board or platter and let rest for 10-15 minutes. Pull, slice or chop to serve. Serve in buns with barbecue sauce, or however you like! Easy Crockpot Recipe: Pulled Pork
Hey guys, her is an easy crockpot Pulled Pork recipe that I worked into this week's meal plan. This recipe came from pinterest (link below) and worked out perfectly with hardly any changes needed. (I apologize for my scratchy voice, I am still trying to get over a crazy cold) Pull Pork: https://pin.it/tu60TIh Ingredients: 1/2 chopped onion 3 lbs pork butt roast or pork loin 1 TBS paprika 1 tsp pepper 2 tsp salt 2 TBS minced garlic 12 oz bottle of BBQ sauce 1/2 cups water Directions: In crockpot place all ingredients in order listed above, cover with lid and cook on high for 6 hours. After completely cooked, spoon off any excess grease, shred meat with a fork, and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Primal Meal Plan | Episode 6 | Pulled Pork BBQ
In Memphis, bbq is cooked low and slow and without a bunch of sauce. Here's the way I make my pulled pork in the oven when I can't do it on a real smoker. Dry Rub BBQ Pork shoulder Uncategorized Ingredients 1 pork shoulder (also known as a Boston Butt or Picnic Shoulder) Dry Rub: 2 tbs salt 2 tbs paprika 1 tbs garlic powder 1 tbs onion powder .5 tbs chili powder dash of cayenne powder 1 tbs ground black pepper A few dashes of apple cider vinegar Directions This will cook faster if you take the meat out of the fridge a little bit before you are ready to cook. 1. Rinse and dry pork shoulder. 2. Preheat oven to 250°F 3. Trim off all excess fat 4. Put on a roasting rack in a roasting pan 5. Combine all ingredients for dry rub, adding just enough vinegar to turn it into a very thick paste (this is just so that you don't end up with dry rub powder everywhere 6. Rub down whole roast with the paste 7. Put on lower rack of oven and roast at 250 until internal temperature is 190°F. Start checking the temperature after 4 hours, but depending on how big your roast is, it could take up to 6 hours. 8. When the meat is done, take it out of the oven and let rest a little bit till it is cook enough to handle some. About 15-20 minutes. 9. Using two forks, pull apart the meat and serve or store. Tips: If you have an oven with a temperature probe, this is an -excellent- time to use it. Make sure your probe and/or thermometer are not touching the bone. If you want to be totally sure that the meat doesn't get dry, you can add humidity to the oven by putting a little bit of water into the bottom of the roasting pan before you put it in the oven.

Easy Pulled Pork in a Slow Cooker
My number one Whole30 tip is to batch cook, aka make a ton of food and repurpose it into multiple meals throughout the week. My second tip is to get a crockpot. This recipe takes care of both. Click "SHOW MORE" ↓ In case you haven’t noticed, I don’t measure spices (nobody got time for that). Also the prep time for this recipe is 30 seconds. Ingredients: 1 onion, chopped Garlic powder Cumin Dried basil Salt White pepper Black pepper Cayenne pepper 2-3 lbs. boneless pork shoulder roast Instructions: 1. Add onions to crockpot 2. Add spices to onions 3. Add pork shoulder to crockpot 4. Add another layer of spices on top 5. Cover, cook on low for 8 hours 6. Take meat out of crockpot and shred with a fork 7. Enjoy! I made this on a Thursday and used it with three different meals that week. Carolina Style Pulled Pork Sandwiches | Carolina Barbecue on Big Green Egg Malcom Reed HowToBBQRight
Carolina Style Pulled Pork Sandwiches | Carolina Barbecue on Big Green Egg For more barbecue and grilling recipes visit: http://howtobbqright.com/ For Carolina Style Pulled Pork, first you need to source a Pork Butt from your local grocery store or warehouse club. Look for one in the 8-10lbs range preferably bone-in. Remove the pork butt from the cryovac packaging and rinse under cool water. Pat the outside dry with paper towels and place in a large platter or pan. For Carolina style barbecue coat the outside everywhere with a good layer of Kosher salt (you’ll about ½ cup at least) and let the pork butt hang out until you fire up the smoker. Set your smoker to run in the 250 degree range for 8-10 hours. For fuel I start with a good base of charcoal and I use chunks of Hickory wood for the smoke. I add the Hickory to the coal as needed for the first 5 hours. Once your pit has stabilized in the 250 range, add 2 chunks of the wood and place the pork butt Fat Side Up on the cooking grate. Close the lid and kick back for a while because good bbq takes time. The fat will render down over the top of the butt as it cooks but in Carolina the pitmasters also use a Vinegar based sauce for extra moisture. It’s the combination of Hickory smoke, salt, and this vinegar moppin’ sauce on the pork that really makes Carolina Style Barbecue. Here’s my recipe for the vinegar sauce: Carolina Vinegar Sauce - 1 quart Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 Tablespoons Kosher Salt - 2 Tablespoons Crushed Red Pepper flakes - 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper Ground Mix the ingredients together in a large bowl and let the sauce rest for at least 2 hours. Overnight is recommended. Once the pork butt has smoked for 2 hours take a peak and see how the outside is looking. If it looks a little dry go ahead and mop or drizzle the top of the butt with the vinegar sauce. Repeat this process every couple of hours until the pork butt hits 200 degrees internal. It will take in the neighborhood of 8-10 hours for the pork butt to fully cook but don’t rush it. Once you can stick a meat thermometer in the thickest part of the butt away from the bone and it feel really soft, it’s done. You should see temps around 198-200 degrees on the dial. Remove the pork butt from the smoker and place on a platter. Don’t plan on tearing it apart right at this moment. Large cuts of meat need to rest for a few minutes, so cover the platter in aluminum foil and let it hang out on the table for 20-30 minutes. It won’t hurt to place it in a dry cooler with a couple old towels for up to 2-3 hours. After the pork butt has rested, remove the blade bone and shred the meat by hand for a pulled texture or you can also chop it to a finer consistency like they do in Carolina joints. I prefer it pulled with bits of the crunchy bark mixed throughout. Last but not least finish off the pile of pork deliciousness with a good dose of the Vinegar Sauce. The acidity balances out the flavor of the pork and the peppers add just enough heat to let you know it’s there. Toss the pork a little by hand and get ready to eat. The only thing you need is a bun and some coleslaw. This is a great example of how you can prepare a quick meal from your food storage in no time flat. All you need to put this on the table is 2 pints of canned pork, chicken or beef, a bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce, some homemade bread or rolls and a nice side salad! That's it! Dinner in not time! I have used canned pork shoulder, however, I plan on canning more pork soon and will be using pork tenderloin and simply canning the tenderloin in large chunks inside pint jars. I hope this gives you a great idea for a quick meal from your food storage. Slow Cooker Root Beer BBQ Pulled Pork | Cozycakes Cottage
I had a few requests for recipes I mention in grocery hauls so here is my Slow Cooker Root Beer BBQ Pulled Pork recipe. Talk about easy! I'll do my best to film/blog recipes every week! Enjoy! ~Danielle RECIPE LINK (a printable version is available here): http://www.cozycakescottage.com/2015/05/27/slow-cooker-root-beer-pulled-pork/ Recipe: Ingredients: 3 to 4 lb. pork roast freshly ground black pepper 1 can root beer (12 oz.) 1 jar/18 oz of BBQ sauce or 2 to 2.5 cups homemade BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray's) Buns for serving Directions: Lightly spray/grease your slow cooker pot. Trim the roast of a bit of excess fat (not all of it!). Place the roast in the pot and pepper it, pressing the pepper into the roast. In a bowl, mix the root beer and about 1/3 cup of BBQ sauce. Pour over and around the roast. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours (slow cookers vary so check your roast in 6-8 hour on low range). Drain liquid from slow cooker and shred the roast right in the slow cooker if you like. I like to keep a few tablespoons of the liquid in with the meat. Mix in the remaining bbq sauce and let heat/cook for another 15 to 30 minutes. Add/serve with extra BBQ sauce if you desire. VEGAN PULLED PORK SANDWICHES Servings: 6 INGREDIENTS 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 medium onion, sliced 3 cloves garlic, minced 3 cups jackfruit, either fresh or canned 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon paprika ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon vegan Worcestershire 1 teaspoon liquid smoke 2 cups vegetable stock ½ cup vegan barbecue sauce FOR SERVING 6 vegan buns Vegan coleslaw PREPARATION Preheat your oven to 350ºF/180ºC. If using fresh jackfruit, line your work surface with plastic wrap. Oil a large knife and cut the jackfruit in half, then into quarters. Carefully remove the core of the jackfruit by cutting into it at an angle. Pull each fruit out and remove its seeds and outer coating. Rinse the fruit thoroughly. Heat the oil over medium heat in a large pan or Dutch oven. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until translucent. Add the jackfruit, spices, Worcestershire, and liquid smoke. Stir to coat evenly. Add the vegetable stock and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes, until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the fruit has broken down. Spread the jackfruit on a prepared baking sheet and bake at 350ºF/180ºC for 45 minutes, until the liquid has baked out and the jackfruit has a deeper brown color. Pour the vegan barbecue sauce over the jackfruit, mix and return to the oven for 15 minutes. Serve warm on vegan buns with vegan coleslaw. It's also a Free recipe at Slimming World which means you can eat as much as you like. And it couldn't be easier to cook - simply throw everything in the slow cooker and leave it alone. Then enjoy meat cooked so tenderly that it can be gently teased apart by forks or fingers – smoky, juicy, and served with BBQ sauce. For more healthy recipes, motivation and inspiration subscribe to the Slimming World YouTube channel or visit www.slimmingworld.co.uk to find your nearest friendly weight loss group Recipe 1.5-2kg pork shoulder, all fat removed 5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp mustard powder 500g passata 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar 2 cloves of garlic, crushed 3 tbsp sweetener Salt and freshly ground black pepper In a small bowl, mix passata, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweetener and seasoning. Transfer to a small pan and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Meanwhile, trim and remove all visible fat from the pork and sear all sides in a hot frying pan. Transfer to a slow cooker coat with the sauce and cook for 8-12 hours on LOW. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and place on a cutting board. Allow the meat to cool for approximately 15 minutes, then shred into bite-sized pieces using two forks. Remove the sauce from the pan and set aside to drizzle on the meat later. Tip: On an Extra Easy day serve with a dollop of sauce, steamed green beans and a 60g wholemeal roll (Healthy Extra 'b' choice). Slow Cooked Green Chili Pulled Pork Tacos ~ Noreen's Kitchen
Here is the perfect budget slow cooker meal! This is perfect for stocking your freezer bank and filling your family with delicious Tex-Mex food! I found a pork shoulder that was about 6 pounds, it was a fresh picnic, which means it really was a fresh or raw ham. I trimmed it up, took off the skin and most of the fat cap and made a delicious green chili pulled pork! We had tacos for dinner on the night I made this and it made enough for us to have three to four additional meals, which would be probably two dinners for all of us plus two lunches for two. I rounded out the tacos with some Spanish rice, and we have already had another taco dinner from this batch with some refried beans on the side and an avacado salad. The remaining batch will be turned into a green chili stew with the addition of pinto and black beans served over rice. This just goes to show you that for about $10 I made enough food to feed the four of us four times over! This is the most awesome way to work your food budget and give you a break from time to time. Just freeze the leftovers in airtight containers and plan ahead. You will want to that this either in the fridge or do what I do and stick it in the sink during the day then pop this in a saucepan and heat it up for tacos, burritos, filled or smothered, tostadas, enchiladas or just in a bowl with a spoon and some rice or tortillas on the side.
