ADDICTION CURE? - NALTREXONE

04:19
Look it up. Naltrexone breaks the cycle of addiction and brings new hope for alcohol dependence and opiate drug addiction. How long will the FDA keep it available? Why aren't we hearing about this? Naltrexone is one of the first anti-craving medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the treatment of alcoholism and opiate addiction. In clinical trials, LDN has been shown to halt disease progression in Crohn's disease and certain cancers, including pancreatic cancer, and to reduce symptoms in multiple sclerosis (MS) and autism. Ongoing trials are evaluating LDN in fibromyalgia and HIV/AIDS. Anecdotally, LDN has been shown to improve almost every autoimmune and neurodegenerative condition, including Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Naltrexone modulates the immune system and promotes healing. Naltrexone comes in two forms: 1) Vivirol®-an injectable time released form of naltrexone that is taken once a month. Visit Vivitrol's website for more information. 2) ReVia© or naltrexone- taken daily in pill form. Here are some of the many benefits of naltrexone in the treatment of drug and alcohol dependence: • Most patients experience dramatic reductions in craving within hours of taking the first dose. • Naltrexone blocks the high of alcohol and narcotics, reducing the incentive to drink or use drugs and significantly increasing treatment success. • Naltrexone is a non-habit forming medication that can be discontinued at any time. • Naltrexone can be given with other medications, especially those used to treat depression and other such psychiatric conditions. • Naltrexone works best when used in combination with relapse-prevention therapies. From a clinical psychiatrist: "Naltrexone does work very well in about 75% of addicts who take it. No detox/hospitalization cost. It only fails in 12% of people who give it a chance. Only 10% of people drop out of treatment since it is so easy. It may not work unless you wait a full hour before you start drinking after taking the pill. A must read on the subject would be The Cure for Alcoholism by Roy Eskapa."

What it’s like drinking on Naltrexone following The Sinclair Method

03:34
Sharing about my experience of what it is like drinking alcohol on the medication Naltrexone following The Sinclair Method. The Sinclair Method (TSM) is a treatment for alcohol addiction that uses a technique called pharmacological extinction—the use of an opiate blocker to turn habit-forming behaviors into habit erasing behaviors. The effect returns a person's craving for alcohol to its pre-addiction state. contact: embodieddaily@gmail.com Instagram: katie_lain Contact: EmbodiedDaily@gmail.com SOME AMAZING RESOURCES: https://www.cthreefoundation.org - AMAZING RESOURCE FOR LIST OF TSM DOCTORS, LETTERS FOR YOUR DOCTOR, FAQ, TIPS, RIGHTS AND REGULATION AND MORE!! https://www.c3foundationeurope.org FACEBOOK SUPPORT: The Sinclair Method Warriors https://www.facebook.com/groups/44081... I've had some clients in my addiction treatment center ask me what is the Sinclair Method and is Naltrexone / Vivitrol the addiction cure. This is a topic that we need to discuss more because there's a narrative out there that this opioid blocker can cure drug addiction and alcoholism. In this video, you'll see a clip from the Sinclair Method Ted Talk with Claudia Christian who is a recovering alcoholic. Mode of Action (alcohol dependence)

02:44
Alcohol is an enjoyable part of life for many people. But while the majority can control how much they drink, alcohol dependence still affects over 14 million people in Europe. But why is it that some people drink in moderation while others can't stop? The answer to that lies in our brain chemistry - and the brain's motivational system. Let's take a closer look.

Other promising medications include Zofran® (ondansetron) and Topamax® (topiramate). Unlike older alternatives, these treatments are non-mood altering, non-addictive and have few side effects. Sinclair Method to Treat Alcoholism | Alcoholism

Alcoholism is disease, here’s some resources to help you fight back: Responsible Drinking: A Moderation Management Approach http://amzn.to/1ZdgP9f I Need to Stop Drinking!: How to get back your self-respect. http://amzn.to/1VEqbeU Why You Drink and How to Stop: A Journey to Freedom: http://amzn.to/1Q8pAv2 Alcoholics Anonymous: The Big Book: http://amzn.to/1N0rttl Alcoholics: Dealing With an Alcoholic Family Member, Friend or Someone You Love: http://amzn.to/1j9cvH4 Watch more How to Understand Alcoholism videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/517424-Sinclair-Method-to-Treat-Alcoholism-Alcoholism People frequently ask about the Sinclair Method. The Sinclair Method is a treatment for alcohol use that involves pharmacological intervention. What it involves is something called pharmacological extinction where an opiate agonist, such as Naltrexone, is given to patients who are abusing alcohol. And patients are told really to continue their normal drinking. And the idea of the Sinclair Method is that over time with this opiate agonist in the brain, the opiate agonist will reduce the craving. And so what you'll see is the drinking starts here, and over time as the opiate is given, the use of alcohol will go down steadily until people stop. The Sinclair Method has been shown to be quite effective for many people but not for everyone. So if that has to be done, people should be consulting a physician, an addiction specialist. Often people will go to a general practitioner, but for the Sinclair Method to be employed it's really advisable to consult an addiction specialist.

Prescription Meds to Help With Alcohol Addiction?

03:43
https://www.stopdrinkingexpert.com If you are currently worried about your drinking you might be hoping that there is a simple tablet that you can take that will make all the pain and misery go away. Alcohol addiction is a complicated problem for the producers of prescription medication because unlike any other drug addiction it is completely endorsed by society. The chances are good that around 80% of the people you know drink alcohol, and seem to do so without any problems. Take heroin or sniff glue and you become a social leper, whereas alcohol is the only drug where that happens when you stop taking it. There are very few prescription meds available to help with alcoholism. The oldest and most well known is called Antabuse, which makes the user violently ill if they consume alcohol. Naltrexone and Topamax are anti-opiate and anti seizure drugs that are being trailed with alcohol dependant people. They work by removing the ‘high’ from drinking. It is claimed that over time the drinker realises that the consumption of alcohol is not having any effect and stops. I tried all three of these drugs and found the side-effects were worse than the hangovers. Naltrexone in particular made me feel exceptionally ill, and I hated taking the tablet each day. The biggest problem with taking prescription medication to help with alcohol addiction is you have to have the discipline to take the tablet. I found that after a while I started allowing myself days off the medication as a reward for ‘a good week’, ‘success at work’, ‘the dog’s birthday’... anything really. The only way to really give up alcohol is the change the way you think about it. There is no magic bullet cure – the cure is already in your head. About the author: Craig Beck has helped thousands of people to stop drinking alcohol on their own and without any embarrassing group therapy or expensive rehab. Alcohol Addiction is not Rational - The Cure for Alcoholism - The Sinclair Method (TSM)

07:26
Hello everyone! Making this video today to highlight an important piece of the book, The Cure for Alcoholism, and that is that alcohol addiction is not rational. Once someone is addicted to alcohol, it becomes a hard wired compulsive behavior that is beyond rational which is why it becomes so hard to just stop or control it. The Sinclair Method has been a solution for me to unlearn this hardwired addiction and rid myself of alcohol cravings and addiction. Highly recommend the book! Drug used to treat Alcohol Addiction Associated with Serious Side Effects

01:21
FDA is alerting healthcare professionals about the risk of serious reactions at the injection site among patients treated with Vivitrol (naltrexone). Vivitrol is administered intramuscularly to treat alcohol dependence. FDA has received nearly 200 reports of injection site reactions, including cellulitis, induration, hematoma, abscess, sterile abscess and necrosis. Some patients needed surgical intervention. The risk may be increased if the drug is injected subcutaneously or accidentally into fatty tissue. Practitioners using Vivitrol should use only the specially designed needle that comes with the drug, and take care not to inject the material intravenously, subcutaneously, or into fatty tissue. The special needle may not be long enough to reach muscle tissue in patients with significant gluteal fat. Healthcare providers should consider alternative treatment in these cases. Patients who develop pain, swelling, bruising, itching or redness that does not improve within two weeks should be instructed to report this, and should be referred to a surgeon.

David Sinclair's cure for alcoholism.

06:49
In the early eighties Sinclair discouvered the important role of endorfine reinforcement in the development of addiction. Here he explanes how pharmacological extinction works in a way that is easy to grasp. Today this treatment is proven very effective(close to 80%) in a multitude of clinical trails; the approach is widely accepted. But still many professionals have difficulty undertsanding why the patient must continue drinking for the cure to be effective. But that is exactly the condition! Alcohol Abuse Treatment in the Digital Age

12:53
According to John Mendelson, MD, Chief Medical Officer of DxRx, a startup focused on helping people with alcohol use disorder, excessive drinking is the biggest drug problem in the world. It is estimated that one in ten people have a problematic relationship with alcohol. Traditional approaches to treatment, such as AA or rehab have not had good long-term results for many people. Effective medications, such as naltrexone, are now available, although they are vastly underutilized. DxRx has designed a program that uses medications to reduce alcohol cravings as its underpinning. Medication management is supported by digital technology (tracking breathalyzer measurements twice a day, digital photos of pill-taking behavior) as well as telemedicine (telephonic counseling and support). John says the company works with people to establish their goals for treatment - do they want to cut back, continue to social drink, or become abstinent altogether? And then provides support to help them achieve it. Although they do have not yet formal outcomes research to validate outcomes, they do have data from their first cohort of patients who have been with them for 30 days. These data document a 60% reduction in alcohol use from baseline data. These data include breathalyzer data that are more objective than traditional self-reporting of use.

Vivitrol vs Antabuse

03:58
Psychiatrist in NYC Dr. Edward Fruitman, M.D. explains the difference between Antabuse and Vivitrol - medications to treat alcohol addiction. The first is Vivitrol. This is an injection, which is given monthly, and is perfect for sufferers who can't give up alcohol completely, for whatever reason, be it social reasons or work functions. The second medication is completely different -- Antabuse. This is a pill which needs to be taken on a daily basis to be effective in the long-term. This is for those that want to stop completely and never wish to touch a drop of alcohol again.
