For further discussion visit http://www.HemOnc101.com Dr. Talebi's practice, Miami Hematology and Oncology Associates is located at 151 NW 11th street, Suite W303. Homestead, Fl 33030. Tel 786-504-3084 Treatment of metastatic stage 4 pancreatic cancer Cancer of the pancreas is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States and is second only to colorectal cancer as a cause of digestive cancer-related death. The majority of these tumors are "adenocarcinomas" arising from the ductal lining of the pancreatic epithelial cells. Surgical resection is the only potentially curative treatment. Unfortunately, because of the late presentation of the disease, only 15 to 20 percent of patients are candidates for pancreatectomy. The prognosis of pancreatic cancer is poor even in those with potentially resectable disease. The five-year survival following pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) is only about 25 to 30 percent for node-negative and 10 percent for node-positive tumors. Encasement of the arteries and veins in the vicinity of the pancreas generally make the tumor not resectable although each case has to be reviewed by an experienced surgeon. Here, Dr. Tony Talebi discusses the treatment of metastatic stage 4 pancreatic cancer with Dr. Alberto Montero, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center including symptoms of, diagnosis, staging, whipple surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. Hope on the Horizon for Pancreatic Cancer Patients

04:08
Clinical Trial: http://1.usa.gov/PncreasCncr Milind Javle, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, is offering hope for those faced with pancreatic cancer. Javle is leading a new clinical trial which targets the rapid growth of pancreatic cancer cells. This trial is testing the standard treatment with a new antibody that has shown promising results in the laboratory. Javle says it is believed that every pancreatic cancer has a unique set of genes that makes it susceptible to certain kinds of drugs and resistant to some others. So our hope is to personalize treatment for patients with pancreatic cancer. Patients in this video inspire other pancreatic patients to not give up hope.

Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer (liver cancer, lung cancer) initial prognosis of 2-3mo's to live

This is the best kept secret that was never meant to be a secret for an effective cancer treatment for stage 4 cancer that is actually low/non-toxic (depending on if you opt out of working with a chemo drug) approach to reducing/removing cancer. this started with pancreatic cancer stage 4, which had metastasized to the liver and eventually lungs. with treatment, they were able to handle the liver cancer and lung cancer. I'm so happy to share this testimony my uncle has made after coming back from being bedridden and pumped full of pain meds not too long ago! Insurance needs to accept this as an option so that we can make this more available and accessible to mainstream! - Cancel Stage 4 check this person's journey out! she really got lucky! https://youtu.be/mPnNflKTLOA

Introducing the Pancreatic Cancer Victory Tour (PCVT)

04:25
#PCVTour 2015. Meet Eric & Liz McIntyre from Metairie, LA and learn about their remarkable journey that begins on April 19th. One man on a mission: Cycle 75 miles a day through 18 states for 3 ½ months to raise funds and awareness in support of pancreatic cancer patients, like Liz, and to deliver a message of hope and progress... With little experience as an endurance athlete, 57-year old Eric McIntyre will cycle throughout the United States with his wife Liz in the support car as much as her treatments will allow. Taking a stand against cancer, their mission is to inspire others battling pancreatic cancer, to raise awareness about the developments in treatment resources, and to raise funds to help those with cancer to get to FDA clinical trial treatments. The funds raised will benefit Lazarex Cancer Foundation (LCF); a publicly funded 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Danville, CA. Through LCF 100% of the monies raised will go directly to cancer patients to defray the necessary but prohibitive costs of traveling for FDA treatment trials. https://www.lazarex.org Support the PCVTour: https://www.crowdrise.com/pcvtour Find out more about the PCVTour: http://www.lazarex.org/events/pancreatic-cancer-victory-tour Video filmed by Tod Hillman March 2015

MD Anderson Patient Shares His Drug Trial Success Story

02:19
An unexpected and unsettling diagnosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNET), a rare pancreatic cancer, brought Bill Settle from Corpus Christi, Texas, back to his hometown of Houston for treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Since MD Anderson's sole focus is cancer, our physicians have extensive experience in the therapies and procedures used to treat every type of cancer and to tailor the treatment to each patient. Our expertise brings many patients here, some from around the corner, others from around the globe. While surgery kept Mr. Settle cancer-free for eight years, unfortunately he experienced a recurrence which took him down a new treatment path that was experimental at the time, but has now become the new standard of therapy. Until May 4, 2011, pNET patients had one treatment option: chemotherapy that was highly toxic. Today, they can take a pill once a day that delayed cancer progression for an average of 11 months for those taking everolimus in the trial. This was a substantial improvement. Those who weren't taking everolimus had their cancer progress, on average, in 4.6 months. The pill is Everolimus, an oral inhibitor of mTOR, which significantly prolonged progression-free survival among patients with progressive advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and was associated with a low rate of severe adverse events.
Binge drinking ups pancreatic cancer risk in men

00:58
Alcohol intake raises risk of pancreatic cancer. A four-year study conducted at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in the USA has found that as alcohol consumption is increased, so is the risk of pancreatic cancer. Binge drinkers were at least 3.5 times more likely to contract the cancer, with heavy drinkers diagnosed up to six times more frequently than those who abstained from alcohol. Lead author Dr. Smair Gupta stated, "Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, so any risk factor that can be identified and addressed may save lives... If this relationship continues to be confirmed, reducing ... drinking may be more important than we already know. Our appreciation, Dr. Gupta and team for your findings that warn of the link between alcohol and this highly fatal form of cancer. May we abstain from all such harmful substances and instead treasure the health and happiness of body and mind.

Molly Luseno - Cancer Patient's Story

02:38
I am 53 years old and I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage four in June 2016. I started ailing in December 2014. I remember waking up at 3am in the morning one night with very severe midriff pain, which took me to hospital the next day. At the facility, I was diagnosed with pancreatitis, given painkillers and sent home. However, a month later, the pain came back worse than the first time, more constant and excruciating than it was. As the pains worsened, I also started getting fevers and stomach pains. I also lost a significant 60 kilos within that period. Initially, I would go to hospital every time I was in pain. Interestingly, however, the doctors’ diagnosis never changed from pancreatitis. One day I decided to ask the doctor why the pancreatitis was not getting cured. As a result, I was asked to undergo some scans but before they could give me my results, I remember the doctor asking me how many bottles of beer I take, to which I responded to the negative. That is when I saw his face change. Immediately, I was sent to do a liver biopsy which showed the cancer cells which had started from the pancreas and spread to the liver and lungs. After undergoing a number of tests and being kept in the dark, the doctor finally revealed to me that I had cancer and started on treatment. 12 sessions of chemotherapy later, my finances ran dry and at that point also decided to change hospitals and come to Texas Cancer Centre, which I had heard about from friends and relatives. I prefer coming here because they have specialized in cancer and therefore solely offer cancer care. Besides that, the doctors at TCC offer comforting messages to patients. Today, I can confidently say that I have seen a lot of changes in my health after finishing my second sessions of chemo at Texas.
