Tiffany made her first video detailing some of the choices we made while creating our tiny floor plan. After researching tons of well-designed skoolie conversions, we used a combination of sketching, a 3D paper model and a free program called Google Sketchup to design a basic layout starting point for our skoolie. Things may change a little as we build but this is, for the most part, our finalized design. Let us know what you think! www.RollingVistas.com

Rv Living means saving money. This lifestyle has shown one can save TONS OF IT! Here's another camper I bought in an attempt to make all that happen. Trying to get videos up every Sunday night. It would seem from this point on, I will. These will be more in depth videos like the one here today. I'll periodically up load smaller for fun videos through out the week. So here is my new to me, 1986 Nu Wa 5th wheel camper. Traded in the old one towards this. Check it out, like and share as well as subscribe. Thanks!

Nadise wanted to live in a small and affordable home, but she doesn't like apartments (she grew up on the 20th floor and wants to be more grounded) and she doesn't like all the rules of trailer parks (especially concerning private gardens). So when she found a retro RV for rent in a backyard in her Northern California town she snapped it up. The trailer is just a couple hundred square feet, but it's not missing anything: there's a kitchen with double sink, a refrigerator (even a freezer), microwave, dining table, living room with 2 easy chairs, double bed and bathroom complete with flush toilet, shower and bathtub. It's wired for 12 volt so the AC is actually a swamp cooler, but it came installed with central heating (something Nadise doesn't use). Squeezing into 192 square feet meant getting rid of stuff. Nadise admits she used to indulge in retail therapy, always hoping that next bowl might make her happy. Today, two years later, she has downsized her belongings and limits new purchases just to thrift shops and garage sales.

We founds several more awesome small RVs that we've fallen in love with over the years and we've listed them on our site: http://www.gonewiththewynns.com/best-small-rv Update: We decided to keep Windy for the remainder of our RV travel's. We begged her to take us back and she did! You can read why here: http://www.gonewiththewynns.com/sorry-windy As most of you know our Windy is for sale and we are looking for a new home on wheels! This will be our 4th RV purchase and needless to say, we know the drill! Here is our general "RV wish list": Length: under 30ft Sleeps: 4 (we are having some guests this year) Generator (for our boondocking days) Good inside storage (because we are full time) Somewhat contemporary styling We have stopped off at several RV Dealerships along our route in Wisconsin and Missouri. So far and these are our favorites. Winnebago View 24M - MSRP $110,000 Winnebago Vista 26HE - MSRP $70,000 Leisure Travel Unity 24MB - MSRP $120,000 Thor Ace 27.1 - MSRP $91,000 (not in the video: this floor plan isn't out yet but we like the 29.1) Thor Siesta 24SR - MSRP $108,000 (not in the video: each dealer we went to was sold of out, but that's a good sign I'm guessing)

FLOOR PLANS: Airstream Renovation Today we share the many floor plans we drew for our Airstream Argosy Renovation. We've been RV Living for 2.5 years, so we have a good idea of what layout will work for our needs. Typical with Tiny House Life, every inch counts...and, being a vintage trailer, it has a fair share of nuances to deal with! We're Kyle & Olivia, a young couple traveling the country full time in our vintage camper. We hit the road in September of 2015, with the goal to live a minimal lifestyle and connect with the world around us. A Tour of Michael Fuehrer's converted Tony House school bus. @navigationnowhere Fron the Sparte Independant - Erica Norton Inside the bus Since its purchase in May of 2016, the bus has been Fuehrer’s life. For six months, he would wake up, go to work, get out of work, and then work on the bus until late into the evening. Despite moments of doubt in the winter and even some “fun breakdowns,” Fuehrer said those get overshadowed by the friendships and community relationship that the bus has fostered. Through the help of his parents — especially his super handy dad Chris Fuehrer — and lots of friends, the bus is nearly complete. Where there were once rows and rows of seats, a regular old school bus from Pennsylvania now contains all of the things an apartment would have plus a driver’s seat. Inside, there are three couches that fold out into beds, a table that pulls out from underneath one bed and pops up, and cabinet shelves that pull out and become coffee tables. The kitchen has a full-sized oven, a refrigerator, a sink, and two coffee table-sized cabinets which house the furnace for heat and a surround sound system. The bathroom has a completely tiled full shower and a composting toilet, with water tanks under the bus. Behind the emergency exit door is the “garage” with all the utilities: the hot water heater, the solar energy system, the electrical panel and batteries. Plus there is an 8x10 rooftop deck to hang out on and watch the stars. The bus runs completely on solar energy, with solar panels on the roof, and the stove and water heater run on propane. However, it can hook up to power like an RV if needed. Through the process of building the bus, Michael’s dad Chris pointed out that he and all his friends have learned so many skills they can take with them. Michael’s good friend Coriann Grunstra has been helping with the build and said she has learned how to weld, how to rivet, how to grind, how to use tar, how to use rust converter, and more. But last weekend, it was crunch time. The stakes are raised to completely finish the bus because they have a deadline.

Video #2, this is where the trailer is today. I'm working on the RV systems and this explains my plans for them. The electrical system consists of a 30amp AC/DC converter panel with a large block grounding panel, GFIC trip input surge protection, 1 12v marine battery and 12v led lighting system throughout the camper (including the underbelly). The water system consists of 1/2" braided hose, 12 gallon holding tank, Shurflow 2.4gpm 12v pump with filter, 4gal propane hot water heater, exterior shower and kitchen sink with hand pump. The propane system consists of 2 30lb tanks with regulator and lines for the hot water heater, 2-burner cook stove and 600btu propane furnace. I'll do some DIY videos as I work along of the water and propane systems.

Paul Elkins fell for micro-camping in 2002 when he toured the country in his cabover “stealth camper”. Sure he could make something more affordable, this year he began building a nomadic micro-shelter based on the Airstream design. [Downloadable plans: http://www.elkinsdiy.com/plans/ ] Using 4 recycled fluted-plastic campaign signs from a recent election, a $20 secondhand bike, 6 pine boards ($1 at Home Depot), screws, Duct tape and zip ties, he built his latest micro mobile shelter for only $150. Calling it a “micro Airstream bike camper”, it’s a 60-pound “home away from home”, complete with butane stove, bread-pan sink, counter, food storage shelving, clothes-storage bins, LED lighting, bed, windows, pee jug, bubble insulation, stereo with MP3 player, and a skylight made out of a 1 gallon plastic tub. Homemade custom diy camping trailer RV we built for our hunting trips This is our trailer conversion from old boat trailer to simple RV for camping. Nothing special but holds everything for camping and hunting so all we have to do is fill the ice chest hook up and head out. Small propane heater keeps it warm in winter and no tents to setup or take down. https://www.amazon.com/shop/bigredfishdad My stuff: I use the Audio Technica AT2020 XLR because I wanted to be able to record music occasionally. If you do not need that then you could just go straight for the USB version and wouldn’t need the phantom power or extra cables. The external recorder is a must when using a cell phone and will help with audio sync when editing. Here are the full details and plans of the tiny home I am going to build on my old 32 foot camper frame. Read full details here: http://www.thediyworld.com/blog/?p=1507 I will begin demolition of the old camper frame in a couple days to prepare the frame for my tiny home on wheels. The tiny house will have an upstairs loft and a downstairs. The living area will be 12 foot by 24 foot wide with a bedroom and a bathroom. The living room and kitchen will be open so allow my wood stove to heat the tiny house easier. The upstairs will have a nearly full loft with a large opening for the stairwell. This will allow you to look down into the living room and allow the wood stove to heat the upstairs of my tiny home easily. The roof will extend over the porch at the tongue of the trailer frame to give me an enclosed porch area which I will screen in to keep out bugs in summer. The porch will double as a greenhouse and passive solar heater in winter. I decided to go with an over sized width to give me more room to move around in my tiny home. I am tired of living in cramped 8 foot wide living spaces the last couple years. I also want to use standard sized furniture and kitchen appliances inside. Please have a look at the link above to see the full details and plans for my tiny house on wheels. Jurgen Jas makes things- a mini Smart bike/car for his nephew, a fully-furnished mini-camper for another, a backyard workshop and many Bowers-&-Wilkins-inspired speakers for himself- so when he couldn’t find a popup micro-camper that he liked, he built one. Beginning with just a donated chassis, he began to built all the components of his future micro mobile home. “I have been a carpenter for a company that builds exhibition stands so I am used to working with plywood - making very thin and beautiful things without any weight - so I saw how extremely strong it is.” On top of the trailer base Jas installed an insulated plywood floor, wooden ribs for framing, plywood with insulation for walls and sheet aluminum for cladding. Despite his degree in technical engineering, Jas admits he didn’t calculate anything. Instead he relied on his familiarity with other campers- particularly Airstream and Basecamp- and his belief that “seeing is knowing”. Fortunately the camper came in under the weight limit for towing by his Suzuki Alto (total weight is under 500 kilograms). The finished camper rivals any off-the-shelf micro camper, complete with popup top and popout side, full kitchen (Dometic refrigerator, 3 burner gas stove, sink, toaster oven), a drop-down dining table that slides/retracts into several positions/sizes, a couch that transforms into a king-sized bed and plenty of storage. The total cost was 8,500 euros, including all appliances (650€ for the refrigerator, 350€ for the stove, 185€ for the sink). As a comparison, an Airstream or Basecamp in the same model would be about 34,000 euros. Jas spent 2 years crafting his tiny mobile home, but he didn’t do it to save money. “It’s nice to make your own environment. People have lost a bit the feeling of making things for yourself,” he explains. “A lot of things are made in a factory just for somebody else. So perhaps people go to the factory doing their job without them really wanting to do their job. They make things for somebody they don’t know. And it’s nice to make things for yourself, you enjoy it more, it’s more fun actually.” Jurgen's website (in Dutch): https://jasman.home.xs4all.nl/ Original story: https://faircompanies.com/videos/couldnt-find-his-dream-popup-micro-camper-built-it-instead/

One of the most frequent questions we got during our summer bus renovations was ‘Why not just buy a newer RV with all the features you wanted – is renovating an old bus really worth it?’. So in this month’s live video cast, we addressed this head on. We cover a little history recap of how we became vintage bus owners, why older higher end coaches can be a great deal, our general overall costs so far in making Zephyr our own, what we could buy newer for that same amount of money, and considerations for renovating an older RV. We hope this chat helps gives others some perspective on the decision of going with an older RV or buying new (there's no right or wrong way, of course!). This video has an accompanying blog post at: http://www.technomadia.com/oldrvnewrv Catch the full tour & project renovation list: http://www.technomadia.com/2015/09/summer-2015-bus-renovations-tour-project-list/ Full tour & info about our bus: http://www.technomadia.com/zephyr Bus Conversion Info: http://www.busconversions.com ------------- We have been full time RVers since 2006, and love sharing a slice of our life with others.. and hopefully provide some useful discussion topics to help others in their planning process. Each month we pick a topic based on frequent questions we get and host a live interactive chat on Livestream. Our chats end with an interactive Q&A session where we answer viewer questions about this topic or any related to nomadism. These are intended to be casual and fun. This is an archive of a live video chat recorded on September 30, 2015 - but was recorded with a local camera for a better viewing experience. Join in a future video chat live by subscribing to our email list from www.technomadia.com/video. I finally reached my goal and got the camper frame stripped down to the bare metal. I want to build a tiny house on wheels on the old camper frame. It took some cleaning to get all the mouse and chipmunk nests off the top of the camper frame. That and the rotted wood that was the original floor of the camper. Its amazing that whole camper did not fall apart when going down the road. There was nothing holding the old camper together but for the interior cabinets. Scary. I had to roll off a heavy plastic sheet which was a sort of vapor barrier under the camper. This actually doubled as a protection for the frame underneath. All the rot and sopping wood from the floor would have eaten through the camper frame through the years otherwise. Now we all get to have a look at the frame I will use to build my tiny home on wheels. Removing RV old Carpet & Replacing with Allure planks Vinyl - Floor Replacement The original carpeted floor I had looked real nice and confortable but not practical, especially for cleaning. After many years of use I decided to rip it out and replace it with something more durable. I removed the carpet from the living area up to the driver and passenger seats. The galley area up to the ceramic tile I also removed one row of the ceramics I started the installation of the allure planks from the rear of the passenger seat, around the stairwell and all the way to the back into the dining area. The stairwell edges came out real nice with the aluminum angle line. I used the same product to make the transition between the carpet and the allure behind the driver and passenger seats. The strip of carpet left in front of the sofa is part of the slide so I left it so that it covers the 1 inch step. The stairwell was also left with the original carpet on the sides since it was in good condition and this area is not very well insulated like the floor inside. Under the step there's a battery for the engine start. The transition between the allure and the ceramic tiles in the kitchen area is the same aluminum trim used on the front cockpit area. And the wood trim below the counter and walls dressed up the edge of the allure. Walking toward the bath area the floor is all ceramic including the private bath before the bedroom. Across from the private bathroom is the sink and shower, there's a sliding door that gives plenty of privacy between the kitchen and the bath. There's a transition between the bath area and the bedroom which also has 2 sliding doors that gives the privacy between the bath and the bedroom. Where the allure is now in the bedroom it was all carpeted before. The allure is all around the bed slide out. This is way easier to clean now. I use an allure polish every time we come back from a trip and no more cleaning carpet all day. I would advice the manufacturers to build them this way. The Planks are vinyl all the way through. 36" x 4". The surface looks like real wood and feels like real wood. It can get wet and not worry. Lay down each plank into each other and the adhesive bonds them together. Staggering them a foot or so apart really makes them look good. My Motorhome is a 2003 National Dolphin LX model 6320. This vehicle has an impressive use of space and is probably my favourite vehicle from Eura Mobil. It is the l 700 HB and has an innovative floor plan with spaciousness at a maximum length of only 7.15 m. A large bathroom placed transversally in front of the double bed in the rear is the core element of this unique room design. Compared to classic transversal floor plans, additional space has been made by placing the wash basin on a wall right in front of the bed. By fitting the wardrobe at the foot of the bed, this floor plan benefits from additional freedom of movement, allowing enough room for a bed 1.9 m in length. A mirrored sliding door to the bed and a second sliding door to the kitchen turn the bathroom into a separate and particularly spacious dressing room when needed. A full-format mirror on the rear sliding door and the brightly illuminated shower cubicle with rain shower further enhance the room’s wide impression. In addition, the height-adjustable bed, which is conveniently accessed via a wide step, can be individually adjusted in its entry height, thus allowing you to choose an individual entry height or to variably adjust the rear garage underneath. The impressive feeling of space continues in the front of the vehicle: the large kitchen with an ergonomically shaped worktop and a 160-litre refrigerator has been adopted from the 9 m length top models. With five comfortable seats, the living area with L-shaped sofa and the single seat fitted opposite also leaves no wish ungranted when it comes to travelling comfort. The new Integra 700 HB thus connects the comfort of a liner with the external dimensions of an integrated medium-sized vehicle. The low-frame chassis from AL-KO contributes to the almost compact-size impression gained from the outside and particularly emphasises the handling advantages of the twin-axle. Add to this the innovations of the new Integra generation presented in August, which include the hallmarks of a luxury liner in combination with a compact superstructure height of just 2.92 m. The reduction in height has been countered with the exclusive design and ambience of the interior. As a result, the new Integra is a completely new development with its own style.

Check out this beautiful school bus converted into an amazing full time tiny house / motorhome! We met the builder, Jade, in British Columbia last month and he was nice enough to give us a tour of the school bus he converted into a off grid home on wheels. He did the entire conversion himself, from the woodwork down to the wiring, and he even converted the diesel engine to run on vegetable oil. We’re in love with the wooden exterior and the tall ceilings; and, the firewood hatch in the floor is pretty cool, too! Do you know anyone living an alternative lifestyle? We’d love to meet them! After traveling about 20,000 miles all over the place, I'll tell you that my little Runaway Camper has yet to let me down. I love the ease of use of this small camper and how you basically hitch it up and go without all of the emotional and physical overhead of hauling the crap typically associated with more complex forms of camping. In this video I just give a very quick glimpse of what it's like to camp in one of these badboys. Thanks for watching! Enjoy.
