DIY Outdoor Fire Pit Fireplace - Concrete and Wood

11:05
In this video ill show you how to make this awesome outdoor fire pit out of wood and concrete. This diy project was fun to build, it was my first time using concrete. Where i live, we can't have a wood fireplace due to the municipal regulations. Portable outdoor fireplaces are only permitted if they run on natural gas, propane or any other liquid specifically designed to be used with the device. In this case, im using citronella oil but you could also use flameless torch oil. I bought 3 small citronella torch canister , that i will hide inside the wooden top. I bought the 3 for 2.50$ each at my local dollar store. NOW, LET'S MAKE IT : First, im starting with the wooden part, let's start by making 6 pieces out of a 1x6x6 pine plank. You will need 3 pieces of 43/8 and 3 pieces of 77/8. Next, we will cut each end at 30degree. Let's glue all 6 pieces together ( make sure you use outdoor wood glue as this project will be exposed to elements ). We also need to trace and cut 2 plywood pieces for the inside, one for the bottom, one for the top. Follow the video and cut 3 holes on the top part and 3 openings on the bottom part so that rainwater can drain. These 2 plywood pieces need something to be screwed on, so im cutting 3 pieces of 2x4 that i will glue inside my octogon. Once it's done, im staining the octogon and spray painting the 2 plywood pieces. Now , we need to make the concrete base. For this, we will need a mold. I want the concrete base to be the same size of the top, but a little bit higher. So im cutting melamine pieces to make the mold, i forgot to oil the mold, but no worry, concrete won't stick to melamine. Make sure you follow insctructions on the concrete bag for the right ratio. Im using pre-mix concrete so all you need to do is add water. Once the concrete is cured, let attach the wooden top to the concrete base by making a hole through the base and securing both parts together with a fileted rod ( 5/16 ). Next , place the citronella canisters inside and add small decoratives rocks, and light it up! Thanks for watching , ill be adding an instructable soon , stay tuned. When working with concrete, make sure you wear safety protection, silica dust is bad for you. Song #1: Jarico - Island (Vlog No Copyright Music) Music promoted by Vlog No Copyright Music. How to make an outdoor concrete fire pit

05:32
This modern outdoor concrete fire pit is can be built over a single weekend and is great centerpiece for outdoor entertaining. This is not a difficult project but is time consuming and labor intensive. Concrete fireplaces and fire pits should be constructed carefully. When exposed directly to high amounts of heat the moisture trapped inside concrete can expand causing the concrete to crack and in extreme situations explode. I lined the inside of the fire pit with fire brick and filled the bottom with lava rock to ensure that the majority of the heat form the fireplace is not coming in direct contact with the concrete. How to Make an Outdoor Steel Fire Pit | Modern Builds | EP. 73

Check out the full Wrangler RIGGS range of workwear, including their line of Cool Vantage jeans and work pants to help keep you cool while working in the heat: http://bit.ly/2xG4hy0 Today on Modern Builds, I'll show you how to make a custom steel fire pit with limited welding tools. All you need is a welder (obviously) and an angle grinder. I attached a 16" by 16" concrete paver for a simple concrete base to counterweight the otherwise top heavy bowl. This is only my second welding project and is really a simple DIY project for people new to welding. I plan on letting the pit sit outside for a while to get a nice patina, then adding a clear coat to protect it. How to make outdoor concrete and wood bench

04:14
My parents wanted a bench to go with the concrete fire pit I made for them. I decided to reuse the wooden forms from that project to make a bench. The bench consists of 2 blocks of concrete made from Quikrete 5000 and three 8-foot long 4x6s that I got from home depot. Four 4x4s would have worked just as well. I did this project in southern California so frost heave isn’t a problem, which is why I was able to do it without digging deeper. The wood isn’t actually attached to the concrete but rather sits within recesses in the concrete blocks. I am thinking about making the bench L-shaped in the future so I wanted to be able to disassemble it if needed. Follow us on Instagram to see what we're working on next! How to start a Upside Down Fire in an Outdoor Fire Pit

03:54
Some viewers asked about my fire pit. Here's a link to it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WU8OJM/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000WU8OJM&linkCode=as2&tag=maxiimpakara-20 Outdoor fire pits are a great way to keep warm outside on cool nights. Also, the smoke repels insects like mosquitoes, flies, and gnats. The upside down fire burns slowly without fussing and adjusting the wood for hours. The upside-down fire you build from the bottom up. First, place the biggest logs on the bottom with no spaces between them. Then, place another layer of smaller wood on top. Keep criss-crossing smaller and smaller logs. Finally, place the tinder bundle on top. Lit the tinder bundle and watch your upside down fire burn. How to make a Simple Fire Pit & Tie Fighter Grill

Convenient for this project, in the most lush part of the year, there is a big opening right in the middle. I decided to put the fire pit right under that clearing. This is very important because you don't want the fire to accidentally ignite any leaves or branches that are above it. Luckily, this spot was also pretty level. I began this project by purchasing a grill grate on which we would cook our food. It would be absolutely practical to build the fire pit so that this grate sat on the edges of the bricks, chimney style. But such a design presented a problem, if I wanted to add logs then I would have to remove the grate (which doesn't have handles) and risk spilling my food on the ground. So to allow for room to stoke the fire, I would have to suspend the grill grate over the middle of the fire pit. At Lowe's, I found some decorative bricks that I liked and laid them out on the ground to find a size that worked. Using those bricks, I found that 14 of them would make a perfectly-sized fire pit. I decided that 4 levels of brick would work for this project. One row would be partially buried to add foundational support and the other three would provide some protection for smaller kids around the fire. If you're doing the math at home, that's 56 bricks, ugh. So Josh and I lugged all those stones from store to Cruiser to back yard to final resting place. I drove a stake into the center of my fire pit so that I could have a reference point when stacking our circular walls. After digging out a little bit of the ground for the first level, I started arranging the bricks. To allow for air flow, I spaced a few brick apart at the bottom. And once I had the first layer set, we just started stacking in an overlapping pattern until the walls were up. The fire pit was done. We could sit and relax while watching the sunset, listening to the crackle of burning scrap wood...but I'm hungry and this thing needs to cook food. Remember that we needed some kind of support to hold up the grill grate? Well, as I do, I got a geeky idea. Instead of just setting two metal bars on top of the bricks and laying the grate on them, I decided to weld up a metal support that resembled Darth Vader's Tie Fighter from Star Wars. First, I measured the distance across the fire pit to roughly the center of the bricks. Then I transferred this measurement to my shop floor with some chalk and traced out the grate in the center. I drew out the angular pieces of the Tie Fighter wings and measured them with my digital angle gauge. Using a Sharpie, I drew these angles onto some 3/4" steel square tubing. The plan was to cut these triangular notches in the top of the tube and then bend the steel using the one uncut side as a hinge. I welded up these joints and repeated the process for the other wing as well as the two longer grill supports. After a few coats of high heat spray paint, I used some JB Weld to attach the grate to the Tie Fighter Supports and the grip was finished. I lugged that heavy thing outside to the fire pit and set it in firmly in place. My plan totally worked, I had plenty of room to add new logs on the fire, I cooked up some lunch for Josh and I, and I really like the way it looks! MUSIC: http://share.epidemicsound.com/iltms

Dueling Fire Pits for $68 Each

05:23
Sign-up for early access to project videos: http://makercise.com/signup I want to show you how I built my Dueling Fire Pits. In my video, I discuss the construction of a new fire pit in addition to the repair of my old fire pit. The original fire pit has been awesome. I burned three pine trees 18” in diameter. A tree fell across the fire pit, and I continued using it. Several summers ago I started the process to get our backyard foliage under control. This process generated lots of firewood, and I decided to build a real fire pit after I damaged my wife Chiminea. I just wanted to see what kind of heat that bulbous terracotta chimney could handle and frankly it wasn't much. So I headed down to Home Depot in the old F150 and loaded it up with retaining wall bricks that were about $1.50 each. When I was done I had made a fire pit for just around $68 that I could actually burn some wood in. Over about three years, the fire pit has started to show some wear due to the high mileage I put on the fire pit. The typical failure mode seems to be the retaining blocks crack in half. Despite the expected wear on the original fire pit and considering the simplicity of repairs, I decided to build another. Dueling fire pits is the way to go! Below you'll find my affiliate links. Like I mentioned above, I bought mine for $1.50. This fire pit will cost a different amount in different geographical locations due to the shipping cost of this material. DIY Fire Pit with Adjustable Draft (for under $50!)

08:55
In this video I'll show you how to make a fire pit with an adjustable draft for less than $50. I minimized costs by building it below ground with cinder blocks. NOTE: Although I have had no problem so far, I have been informed that the paver I used at the bottom of the pit could explode under the intense heat from a fire. Thus, I would recommend using something like fire bricks instead. Some concerns were voiced about cinder blocks, as well. Just remember that I'm not an expert, and this video is for information purposes only. The design is based on a type of fire pit called the Dakota fire hole. Here's a good video that explains how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffldYo4EVCg&t=477s I have found that the fire pit I built burns very hot and efficiently, and produces very little smoke once it gets going. If you put in the right kindling, it starts right up with no trouble. Here is a complete materials list: -1 bag drainage rock -5 cored concreted blocks (the ones with holes) -3 concrete cap blocks (the solid ones) -1 one foot square patio stone (but this can explode, so don't use this, use fire bricks instead) -4 6"x9" patio stone -8 6"x6" patio stone -1 4"x96" flexible aluminum dryer vent duct -1 4" drain grate Music: Like Apollo - jimmysquare Kyoto - Tonez&Re-C Always - DJ Quads Something New - Joakim Karud Check out some of my other videos: DIY Shoebox Smartphone Projector -https://youtu.be/GcU3dz0VuuU How to Make a Skimboard - https://youtu.be/cYJobYvqjlU How to Make Cold Brew Coffee - https://youtu.be/nxLapAnPXPE Let me know if you have any questions or ideas for future videos!

Impressive Outdoor Fire Pit Ideas For Attractive Backyard

01:12
Impressive Fire Pit Ideas For More Attractive Backyard !! The first thing you need to decide when installing a fire pit is whether this will be a permanent fixture or if you want to take it with you to your next home. And yes, as Drew Magary discovered when renovating his home, permanent fire pits can be expensive. Improve with Age "Choose a fire pit made out of high-quality materials that will patina well with time," adds Geremia. "Durability is important because you will want something that will look great even if it is used often." Old-fashioned or Modern "Do you want to haul wood or charcoal to your fire pit," asks Kati Curtis. "Or need something simple, like one that's powered with bio-fuel?" Logistics If you choose one that requires wood or charcoal, how, exactly, are you going to get those materials? Purchasing something cheap just to "do the job" instead of considering the rest of the environment around it is one of the biggest mistakes Curtis sees people make when purchasing a fire pit.
