Braces Explained: Pain Management In this video, I will be answer the question of "how to deal with orthodontic pain?" I start off by describing that orthodontic pain can be divided into two categories: 1] dental, which is the pain related to your teeth and 2] soft tissue, which is the pain related to your gums/cheeks To manage dental pain, I recommend doing everything you can to decrease inflammation. This includes eating soft food and keeping your mouth as cold as possible by eating cold foods. Also, anti-inflammatory medication can be used but they do slow down tooth movement. Tylenol is a great alternative for decreasing the pain and not having any impact on tooth movement! I recommend taking Tylenol or some anti-inflammatory one hour before your adjustments that way by the time we perform the necessary adjustments, your body has already absorbed the medication! To manage soft tissue pain, which is caused by the braces irritating your gums/cheeks, you can use a number of things. Wax is the most commonly provided item by orthodontist and can be used to make braces smoother and push your cheeks away from your teeth and allow for your cheeks to hurt. Also, you can use a topical anesthetic (link below) to numb up your cheek until the pain goes away. To do this, just dry the area of your mouth and put just a bit of anesthetic in the area until the pain goes away. Lastly, you have got to keep your teeth clean. When your gums get inflamed, they become puffy and more food gets stuck, the brackets become more irritated. This is a vicious cycle so please please please make sure to brush and floss to make sure your teeth stay healthy! Codeine is an opioid found naturally in Papaver somniferum, the opium poppy. It's somewhat misleading to call it an opioid since codeine primarily functions as a prodrug, offering little of its own activity. Morphine seems to be its primary active metabolite. The drug is typically a controlled substance, yet it may also be available over-the-counter (OTC) in certain combinations. Its name comes from the Greek word "kodeia," which means "poppy head." Medically, codeine is used as an analgesic, antitussive, and antidiarrheal. It's also taken recreationally, often at higher doses. http://www.thetravellingscientist.com.au Paracetamol/Panadol (Acetaminophen/Tylenol) is a cheap and effective drug that is used to treat pain…but how does it work? This short video discusses the mechanism of action of paracetamol, looking at a few possible side effects, comparing it to drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen to determine which, if any, pain relief drugs you should be using. I also look at how Arachidonic Acid, Cyclooxygenase (COX) and prostaglandins work together to cause pain and fever that you might feel with a headache or a bad cold. Paracetamol is thought to inhibit this pathway, but after over 100 years of research…scientists still aren’t certain. Pain relieving drugs can cause side effects like gastrointestinal bleeding as well as liver and kidney damage during metabolisation, so care should be taken not to overdose when using these medications. This link discusses the history of paracetamol http://www.bimsifram.fr/paracetamol/history_paracetamol.htm This link offers the current theory of how paracetamol works https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15662292 This is a link to the paper showing that paracetamol causes similar levels of gastro-intestinal bleeding to ibuprofen http://ard.bmj.com/content/70/9/1534 Use the links below to follow The Travelling Scientist YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0OPSqjSuqsDPhZFokbVxZg?view_as=subscriber Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/travellingscientist/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/travellingscience/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/jctravelscience

If you like my video then do subscribe to my channel. Please leave me a comment for any tips you want and give a thumbs up. Follow Body and Beauty: https://www.facebook.com/BodyandBeauty11/ Many babies will have cold during their first few months of life, and the average baby will have atleast 8 to10 colds before their first birthday. Colds affect your baby's upper respiratory tract, causing a runny nose, nasal congestion and a sore throat. Unless pneumonia or another complication develops, colds are generally mild and clear up within 10 days. Babies under the age of 6 months, however, have very weak immune systems and so are more vulnerable to potentially serious complications. you want baby to feel better, but what should you do? Here are some ways that are recommended by doctor: Try saline drops in the nose to moisten the mucus and make it easier to remove. Treat mild fevers with acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Encourage the baby to take plenty of fluids (meaning breastfeeding as often as possible for a young baby, and perhaps adding water or diluted juice for a baby on solid foods or formula) and to rest. Use a cool mist humidifier to help baby with a stuffy nose, but be sure to wash and dry it thoroughly each day to prevent contamination from bacteria and mould. Giving your baby a warm bath or sitting with her in the bathroom while the shower runs can also help soften the mucus in her nose. Raising the crib mattress (by putting something underneath it, not by using a pillow under the baby) so that the baby’s head is higher than his body may also help him sleep more comfortably. If your baby has a lot of mucus in his nose, it may help to soften it with saline drops, then use a suction bulb to remove it. But when the baby has soft-tissue swelling in his nose, the suctioning is likely to irritate the tissue and make things worse, so be gentle. Pay attention as well to how long the cold is lasting. “Colds are caused by viruses,” . “They run their course in five to seven days. But children can start off with colds and end up with bacterial infections that definitely require treatment. If your child’s cold symptoms last longer than 10 days, be sure to see the doctor.” And you might want to keep this article and list of suggested treatments handy: Expert doctor says even healthy children can get eight to 12 colds a year. See a doctor if your baby has a cold and: is under three months is having trouble breathing is not eating or drinking seems lethargic and sleepy has a persistent fever over 38.5°C /101.3°F (rectal) has a persistent wet cough An ounce of prevention Since cold viruses are highly contagious, keeping your baby away from people with colds is the most effective way to prevent infection. Of course, this isn’t easy when it’s your own toddler who is coughing and sneezing near your new baby. Parents—and anyone else who comes in contact with your little one— also wash their hands frequently as this is the most common method of transmission.

Now that that's out of the way, in this video I share my experience with tripping on legal cough syrup, the robitussin high also known as robo tripping. It's one of the legal highs available and for me had a high addiction potential. The DXM trip was therapeutic the first time I took it, but repetitive use caused notable brain damage. There's no scientific evidence for brain damage, but it was something I experienced. If you struggle with drug addiction reach out to me for support! Your stomach is like a muscle. When it's filled with large meals three times a day, the dispensability (amount your stomach walls can stretch) increases. When you head in the other direction - eating many small meals throughout the day - your stomach's capacity goes down. Intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, resulting in your stomach shrinking and less caloric intake. People will indulge in a less than healthy meal and feel overly full after – don’t have room for veggies as stomach shrinks. Less Calories: Most people who try intermittent fasting end up cutting weight. You might plan big meals, but consistently eating them is difficult in practice. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Most people lose weight while intermittent fasting because when they cut out meals, they don't make up for it with bigger meal sizes. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Creamer: A “fasted state” is merely a definition of a specific metabolic state — no food (calories) whatsoever in the gut. Any food or drink with a caloric value will cause a spike in insulin because insulin is the hormone that regulates whether you store fat or release it. In a fasting state, the metabolism draws a significant amount of its energy from stored fat, any small amount of calories coming in (cream in your coffee, for example) would nudge the body away from metabolizing fat until those calories are used up. Also breaking the long term effects of a fast. By maintaining low levels of insulin throughout your fast, you ensure that the body has a chance to release — and use — fat stores. Enough calories would elicit enough insulin that fat metabolism would diminish, since insulin discourages lipolysis (2) BCAAs: A 2011 study, from the Journal of Nutrition, looked at the effects of branched-chain amino acid supplementation on plasma concentrations of free amino acids, insulin, and energy substrates in a group of men aged 22-25. On the first day, the participants arrived at the laboratory after an overnight fast. A baseline blood samples was acquired and then the subjects consumed the beverage with 1 g of BCAAs. Seven additional blood samples were acquired during the subsequent 3 hrs. Five days later, the same participants repeated the procedure with a beverage containing 5 g BCAAs. Found that plasma insulin levels transiently spiked after BCAA ingestion and spikes in insulin can be detrimental when fasting – halts the fat burnings effect (1) Study Links: For BCAA study: Full Study (Journal of Nutrition): http://jn.nutrition.org/content/136/1/324S.full Summarized versions: http://easacademy.org/research-news/article/effects-of-branched-chain-amino-acid-supplementation-on-plasma-concentrations-of-free-amino-acids-i https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21512300 Drinking Enough Water: When fasting, your body goes through a process known as apoptosis where your body doesn’t have to digest food, so it begins getting rid of dead or broken cells. Without enough water, your body is unable to transport and excrete what it needs to. On top of that, the majority of your energy needs are being supplied by breaking down fat stores during the fast . Fat is the storage site for most toxins your body encounters, and releasing a bunch of this fat will also release a bunch of toxins in your bloodstream. Mineral Consumption: Adding the right kind of salt, in the form of sea salt, to your diet during your fasting eating period is important when reducing caloric intake because every structure and function of the body needs minerals to function properly. www.AdventuresOfRileyMadison.com Because we do video blogs we were able to catch this sad moment on camera... We hope it helps some of you the next time your little get's a high temp. We didn't have to sit in the ER all night but you definitely want to use your own discretion... THIS MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE as you can see in the comments, it did however work for us! It's worth a try and only cost $1! www.AdventuresOfRileyMadison.com *****PLEASE SUBSCRIBE***** Instagram: @AdventuresOfRileyMadison Twitter: @AdventuresOfRM FaceBook: Adventures Of Riley Madison SPECIAL THANKS TO MY MOM FOR SUGGESTING THIS... My daughter and my husband both started having flu symptoms so my mom reminded me of the onion in the sock home remedy. I jumped on Pinterest and read a few different ones. I had a yellow onion but they recommend a white onion. Anyhow, I cut the ends off to use on my daughter so that it didn't get too messy. She had the aches, her throat was hurting and her temperature went up to 104. Around 1 am she had only dropped down .1 degree so I must admit that I got scared and gave her Tylenol. But my husband never took any medicine and when they woke up, they were both perfectly fine!!!! That sure beats taking a trip to the emergency room, visiting a doctor and paying all that money and then having to get a prescription! We paid less than a dollar for one onion and all is well in less than 24 hours! I'm a believer... (For those who say, BUT YOU GAVE HER TYLENOL!) you are right, I did, but we all know that Tylenol only covers the symptoms! I would have had to keep giving her Tylenol if I hadn't used the onion. Well, I hope this works for you too...

Bakery vs Homemade MATCHA MOCHI CAKE: https://youtu.be/MVm7Zvw_ziY Sooth your throat with this Turmeric Citrus Wellness Tea! ALLERGY RELIEF Tea: https://youtu.be/ihePYDVItPc SLEEP REMEDY TEA: https://youtu.be/_bo8UNfmGHY SUBSCRIBE for more Lifestyle Vids: http://bit.ly/WatchHoneysuckle INSTAGRAM Follow me: http://instagram.com/honeysucklecatering BLOG: http://www.honeysucklecatering.com/ As the weather turns colder I am more prone to getting sick with a bad cold or flu. So I often make this Honey Citron Turmeric Tea to help me feel better. It tastes so much better than the drugstore cough syrup and it really works! I’ll explain how but in the meantime be sure to follow me on Snapchat at HoneysuckleBee and on instagram at HoneysuckleCatering to follow my behind-the-scenes snaps. Honey Ginger Turmeric Citrus Wellness Tea Recipe (30 servings): - 2 Lemons - 1 Orange - 2 inches Ginger Root - 1 Tbsp Turmeric - 1 cup Raw Honey I’m using 2 small lemons that i’ll thinly slice and add to a bowl. I’ll be sure to take the seeds out though cause I don’t want any of that in the tea. The citrus in this recipe is loaded with vitamin C, which is known to support the body’s natural defenses. Lemon and its juice is known to decreases the strength of the flu and the cold virus and it also reduces phlegm. Then I’ll take a whole orange and thinly slice it then I’ll add it to my bowl. I’m leaving the rind on because that’s where all the natural oil are and it will really help flavor the tea later. Orange boosts immunity. Next, I have a knob of ginger about 2 inches long that I’ll peel. Then in my mortar and pestle I’ll grind it up and add it into the bowl. The ginger will soothe your scratchy throat after coughing. My next ingredient is slightly unusual but super powerful. I’m adding in 1 tbsp of turmeric. Turmeric is a spice that can be found in most grocery stores but it’s been used in ancient Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines to clear infection and inflammation. Feel free to adjust the turmeric based on your preference. It can be quite strong. Finally i’m adding 1 cup of raw, organic honey. Raw organic honey is minimally processed and contains many nutrients. It’s like liquid gold that helps with that incessant coughing, and it really helps with sleeping. It contains tryptophan so this is great to get some rest! Once i’ve added all the ingredients together, I’ll give it a good mix and store it in a jar. The honey will draw out the liquid from the citrus and it’ll become very syrupy. I first experienced homemade healing tea when I was really sick and my mom made me this concoction of lemon, rosemary, and honey. Rosemary has its own medicinal properties for coughing but I really wanted to use Ginger and Turmeric so I came up with this recipe. Whenever I’m not feeling well I’ll take a heaping tablespoon of this tea mixture and add it into a cup of hot water. Not only does it taste great, I can feel the honey coating my throat making me feel better. Have you guys tried a homemade remedy tea like this? How has it worked for you? Comment below and don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks for watching and cheers to a happy and healthy new year. Bye! Making things Fun, Pretty, and Delicious! “We are being overwhelmed, in a good way, by the success of “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber, so with the video we wanted to just take it back to the beginning of the record & essentially create an ode to our fans. Doing what we do, it’s entirely all about the fans. We walk a fine line by being “famous” and in the public eye but we are only here because of you, the fans. Justin wrote this record during a tough time in his life and it comes to us that sometimes, as artists, we are also just objects and we have to take that as much as we have to use that to create. We all do this for you, respect that you put us here and it’s Ü that made the video.” - JACK Ü Official Jack Ü Store: http://smarturl.it/JackUStuff Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü iTunes: http://smarturl.it/PresentingJackU Spotify: http://smarturl.it/S_PresentingJackU Beatport: http://smarturl.it/B_PresentingJackU Get the "Where Are Ü Now" Remixes from Kaskade, Marshmello, Rustie and Ember Island: iTunes: http://smarturl.it/WhereAreUNowRemixes Spotify: http://smarturl.it/WhereAreUNowRemixesS Directed by Brewer Production Company - Prettybird Executive Producer - Candice Dragonas Producer - Nathan Scherrer Edit, Color and EFX - Brewer Additional EFX - Gloria EFX Follow Jack Ü Online http://facebookcom/jackuofficial http://soundcloud.com/jacku http://jackuofficial.com Follow Justin Bieber Online http://facebook.com/JustinBieber http://twitter.com/justinbieber
