Brookbush Institute - Mission & Vision

03:27
The Mission Statement and Vision of the Brookbush Institute of Human Movement Science BrentBrookbush.com What are you waiting for, JOIN TODAY - https://brentbrookbush.com/membership/ Mission and Vision: The Brookbush Institute optimizes the delivery of human movement science education by integrating technology, student-centered learning, and evidence-based, practical education. This is the education, delivered the way you want it! • Practical Education: o Education is a means to an end; not an end unto itself. We know that you want more than knowledge, you want to enhance your skills as a practitioner. We have flipped lesson plan, content, and educational development…. rather than starting with only partially applicable foundational sciences leading to a few, often seemingly unrelated skills. We started with the question “what are the skills needed to be a fantastic practitioner,” and then built our content around those skills. • Student-centered o We’re here to deliver what the student wants, in the format they want, with the freedom to choose which courses they think will have the largest impact on their practice. We want learning to be natural and enjoyable. • Evidence-based – o We have a motto at the Brookbush Institute – “If it doesn’t have a bibliography, it’s not worth studying.” - The content we provide has been tried, tested and refined by practice, we know that clients and patients have had great success using these techniques, and we are continually evolving, refining and growing based on all available research. • Technology o Integrated, convenient, and accessible o Integrated - We can integrate so many tools, moving beyond just text… As an educator, I get so excited to think that I can integrate video, illustrations, activities, a pop-up glossary, pre-approved con ed exams, links to related content, all in the same place… however you want the information… chances are we can integrate for you. o Convenience – because of the way we can integrate these tools and make them accessible on your computer, laptop, tablet or phone. We can put a library of content at your fingertips in seconds. Thanks to technology, what would have taken days of research in a library, you can now do anywhere almost instantly. o Accessibility – and since this online format allows to reach such a huge audience, from the US, Canada and the Philippines, to the UK, India and Australia, and everywhere in-between we can offer this information at a much lower cost. The accessibility of this technology can help us take on huge projects, at very low per person costs. And the more people who participate, the more we can accomplish. Information Technology Strategic Planning

02:47
Every company must define its medium- and long-term goals. For this reason, business managers must design an organization’s plan, in which they include the strategy to follow. Once the company has established its plan and strategy, all functional areas of the organization must develop their plans, which must be aimed at supporting the organization's strategy. Today, Information Technology and Systems (IT/IS) play a significant role in the business performance. The IT/IS department should analyze and interpret the organization's plan and strategy to be able to design a strategic plan aligned with the objectives and goals established in the organization's plan. This department should also evaluate existing systems and technology and IT infrastructure in order to identify the need for technology solutions and provide recommendations to the company in order to improve its execution and help create new sustainable competitive advantages. Strategic planning provides a theoretical framework, so that managers and executives of organizations can be able to outline the actions to be taken to direct the companies towards the future they envision. It is through strategic planning that executives map out actions and manage resources and human capital, based on a mission and a clear vision of the organization and its destination. In this course, students will learn about the importance of information systems as useful tools that contribute to the achievement of the organization’s objectives and goals and the importance of strategic planning in IT/IS. They will also learn to analyze current technologies and systems, and to identify the needs for improvements or the acquisition of new technology solutions. In addition, they will learn to evaluate and consider information technologies and systems that offer competitive advantages to the organization, and to formulate IT/IS strategies that are aligned with the objectives and goal established in the organization's strategic plan. Finally, they will have the opportunity to develop a strategic information systems plan for an organization.

A Look at the Sustainable Development Goals

01:01
https://www.globalgoals.org On September 25th 2015, 193 world leaders will commit to 17 Global Goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things in the next 15 years. End extreme poverty. Fight inequality & injustice. Fix climate change. The Global Goals for sustainable development could get these things done. In all countries. For all people. If the goals are going to work, everyone needs to know about them. You can’t fight for your rights if you don’t know what they are. You can’t convince world leaders to do what needs to be done if you don’t know what you’re convincing them to do. If the goals are famous, they won’t be forgotten. We can be the first generation to end extreme poverty, the most determined generation in history to end injustice and inequality, and the last generation to be threatened by climate change. Boeing expands aerospace engineering footprint in Bengaluru

02:38
This video shows you that Boeing expands aerospace engineering footprint in Bengaluru. Global aerospace major Boeing announced its expansion of engineering and technology centre here and said it would accommodate another 1,000 new employees to drive aerospace innovation. The “newest phase” of Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre (BIETC) inaugurated here yesterday would double the existing footprint and accommodate another 1,000 new employees, who will work on cutting-edge technologies that will drive aerospace innovation from India, Boeing said. The centre has increased its employee count from just 100 when it was inaugurated in early 2017, to over 1,000, the company said in a statement here. As the centre grows over the next few years, it will develop into a team of over 2,500 employees in specialized fields of IT, engineering and R&D, it added. The facility will help Boeing to scale up its aerospace, R&D and engineering activities in its existing facilities, the statement said. The facility will also have an integrated lab for IoT, Analytics and Mobility, a 3DX lab to develop 3D experiences, a Systems Integration Lab and a Proof of Concepts Lab. “Over 25 collaboration areas in the centre will enable teams to develop, scale and deliver aerospace innovations with agility. The facility will also drive strategic initiatives like Digital Transformation,” the statement said. The teams will innovate in digital aviation, electrical, mechanical and systems design and provide support for lab and flight testing for aircraft. The company is also developing skills in the Indian aviation sector by partnering with vocational training institutes, industrial training institutes and its local partners to train workers for the aerospace industry. “The new centre reflects an agile and driven Boeing in India, one that inspires people to collaborate and accelerate step-change innovation,” Boeing India President Pratyush Kumar said. San Francisco Public Education Vision 2025: Re-Imagining Public Education for a New Generation

06:24
Schooling in America will be transformed over the next decade, yet there is not yet a compelling or widely shared depiction of the future we want for students in San Francisco. While our City has a vibrant history characterized by opportunity, creativity and diversity, as a global epicenter for innovation and technology, San Francisco is currently experiencing rapid growth and change that affects all facets of life in the region. Many wonder whether we can undergo such transformation without undermining the very values and spirit that have so long defined the city of St. Francis. Those of us who work in and support public education know that the quality of our education system will play a huge role in nurturing the soul of the city and in defining the future of San Francisco. Under the leadership of Superintendent Richard Carranza, we believe the time is right to create a transformative and comprehensive new vision for our students—and for the adults who will educate, mentor, and employ them in the San Francisco of 2025. We are working with a broad cross-section of the community to develop a vision in which innovation, community, family, leadership, and social justice are seamlessly integrated into the experience of public education in San Francisco. Discussing new models of education. San Francisco Public Education Vision 2025 began with an exploration of the social, political, technological and economic forces shaping San Francisco over the next decade. We examined the types of jobs most likely to dominate the Bay Area landscape ten years from now—many of which, if recent history is any indicator, we can hardly begin to imagine. We then turned to our current students, teachers and parents (and to outside experts with ties to San Francisco) to define the qualities, knowledge and skills that will be most valuable for the SFUSD graduate of the future. The vision and financial plan that result will define opportunities for investment partners, traditional and new, to help us make our vision for SFUSD graduates a reality. It will identify clear ways to align the use of public and private dollars to build and maintain the premier school system of the future. In the meantime, we will continue our commitment to building a culture that values accountability for results, reflection and improvement.

Symposium to Introduce Vision 2020

02:23
On September 15, 2010, the University of New Mexico's Health Sciences Center will host a symposium aimed at introducing Vision 2020, UNM's comprehensive, integrated approach to healthcare reform. The strategic plan states that "UNM HSC will work with community partners to help New Mexico make more progress in health and health equity than any other state by 2020." To fulfill this vision, all colleges, schools, departments and programs at the HSC have incorporated into their annual performance plans how their education, service and research enterprises will measurably improve health in the state.

Toward Energy Democracy: Vision Statement

09:18
A large group of civil society organizations including experts, energy practitioners, think tanks, peoples’ movements, academics, and entrepreneurs - came together as part of Bijli Vikalp Sangam in Bodh Gaya, between 4th to 6th March 2016. We reflected upon and explored sustainable equitable practices on energy, with a focus on electricity.  This was aimed at building a continuing critical dialogue with the state and other stakeholders in order to build a just and equitable energy future. With respect to the electricity sector, we call for action on policies and practices to: Mainstream and prioritize renewable energy to meet all future electricity needs. This should include  decentralized solutions including  micro grids, stand alone systems etc. According to a UN report, this will also help in creating more green jobs than the conventional sector. Direct investments towards the above objectives Focus on ensuring sustainable, universal access to electricity, which is affordable. This will require a redistribution of available electricity, equitably, to facilitate a good quality of life Build consensus for a new energy  paradigm driven by  social and individual responsibility, to limit our energy consumption and make lifestyle changes, that are consistent with shrinking planetary resources Ensure that the new imperatives are integrated into all appropriate educational and skill development activities  Improve efficiency of existing electricity infrastructure to match global best standards Prioritize demand side management and energy conservation, particularly of large energy guzzling sectors Develop a time bound transition plan to phase out coal and nuclear, while ensuring displaced workers are appropriately re-skilled and re-employed. No construction of large new hydro plants. True cost of renewables and energy efficiency is much lower when compared to the total cost including social, environmental costs of nuclear, coal and large hydro Make cumulative, sectoral, social and environmental Impact Assessment compulsory for all power projects including renewables.  Technological and innovative transitions will be necessary across all sectors. These must take place through fair and equitable processes that avoid lock in.  Though technology will play a role, solutions for society should not be techno-centric. Implement comprehensive cost benefit and options analysis, including externalities for any power related decision making Mandate free, prior, and informed consent of all concerned communities before initiating any power project   The search for solutions should be guided by principles of direct, radical, and ecological democracy in which citizens, including the marginalized, are involved in decision making. This also requires providing mechanism and spaces for such direct citizens’ involvement. We resolve to take this message to a nationwide audience. This group looks forward to constructive engagement with the decision making process of public policy.

Raising the bar on water management at Barrick

02:16
Today is World Water Day, a day initially launched by the United Nations in 1993 to raise awareness about the impact of water scarcity and bring about more initiatives to protect it. At Barrick, we recognize that water is a shared, vital, and in many places, scarce resource. It’s why we strive to use only what we need and to reduce our impact on other water users in the countries and communities with whom we partner. As we mine in increasingly remote areas with wide variations in climate and access to water, we need to find new ways to meet our water challenges. This is not only the responsible thing to do, it makes good business sense and it is consistent with our core values. This year, we will begin implementing a new water management strategy to ensure we have the right talent, the right plans and the right resources in place to effectively manage our water-related risks at all of our sites. Water management will be integrated into life-of-mine planning in a systematic way, and the water management team will work closely with operations and the digital transformation team to integrate technology into all water management processes. Our long-term goal is to develop successful site-based water stewardship that brings value to the company while protecting our people, our partners and the environment. The development and implementation of the water management strategy is being overseen by John McCartney, Vice President of Water Management. We invite you to watch a short video of John previewing the strategy and discussing the importance of water stewardship. It’s about more than just compliance, water stewardship, as John points out, is about genuinely caring for something that isn’t ours.

Initiatives for the Future of the University of Wyoming

13:50
The future of the University of Wyoming is being driven by three Initiatives currently underway that will shape the look and culture on campus. Learn more about how the Top-Tier Science Initiative, Tier-1 Engineering Initiative and Trustees Education Initiative is going to impact UW and the state of Wyoming. The UW Science Initiative began in 2014 when Governor Mead and the Wyoming Legislature challenged the University of Wyoming to develop a plan to address outdated science laboratories at UW and improve the quality of instruction and research in the sciences. A task force, appointed by Governor Mead and informed by faculty representatives, developed a transformational vision for UW's core science programs in Botany, Zoology & Physiology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, and Physics & Astronomy. The developed plan charts a clear course for these science programs to rise to top-tier status in the nation and builds upon Wyoming's STEM initiatives (the location of the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center in Wyoming, the construction of the Enzi STEM teaching facility, and the Wyoming Governor's Energy, Engineering STEM Integration Task Force). In May 2012, Governor Mead, the State Legislature and the Wyoming Governor’s Energy, Engineering, STEM Integration Task Force articulated a vision to propel the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) and the University of Wyoming (UW) to the realms of excellence in instruction, research and service. UW’s leadership, faculty and staff are committed to this vision; and equally important, UW’s industry partners have embraced this vision and will help actualize it. On March 5, 2014, Governor Mead and the Wyoming State Legislature approved biennium funding of $8 million for Phase I of the Engineering Initiative, in addition to $18.4 million for facilities development. To learn more, visit http://www.uwyo.edu/science-initiative/. Our Aspiration: A Tier-1 college is a nationally recognized institution of academic excellence and world-class research. The unambiguous goal of the Tier 1 Engineering Initiative is to elevate UW’s CEAS to national prominence in undergraduate education and selected areas of research, and to enhance economic development in Wyoming. To learn more, visit http://www.uwyo.edu/ceas/engineering-initiative/. The vision of the University of Wyoming Trustees Education Initiative (TEI) is to elevate the College of Education to the status of a preeminent college in professional educator preparation. The TEI Governing Board will receive recommendations from a TEI National Advisory Board and work groups comprised of Wyoming students, parents, educators, school leaders, state officials, and university faculty. Aboriginal Youth & Media Conference at MOA (Part Two)

02:56:00
Webcast sponsored by the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and hosted by the Museum of Anthropology. "Assert, Defend, Take Space: Aboriginal Youth Conference on Identity, Activism and Film" was a day-long conference on issues of concern to Aboriginal youth. Artists from the Claiming Space: Voices of Urban Aboriginal Youth exhibition were joined by young filmmakers and activists from across Canada. Building off of the screened films, panelists discussed themes of youth identity and politics, the objectification of Indigenous women, and environmentalism and youth activism. "Claiming Space: Voices of Urban Aboriginal Youth"" is an exhibition that looked at the diverse ways urban Aboriginal youth are asserting their identity and affirming their relationship to both urban spaces and ancestral territories. Unfiltered and unapologetic, over 20 young artists from across Canada, the US, and around the world define what it really means to be an urban Aboriginal youth today. In doing so they challenge centuries of stereotyping and assimilation policies. This exhibit will leave visitors with the understanding that today's urban Aboriginal youth are not only acutely aware of the ongoing impacts of colonization, but are also creatively engaging with decolonizing movements through new media, film, fashion, photography, painting, performance, creative writing and traditional art forms. Artists in the exhibition include Alison Bremner (Tlingit), Deanna Bittern (Ojibwe), Jamie Blankenship-Attig (Nlaka’pamux, Secwepemc, Nez Perce, Muskoday Cree), Kelli Clifton (Tsimshian), Jeneen Frei Njootli (Vuntut Gwitchin), Ippiksaut Friesen (Inuit), Clifton Guthrie (Tsimshian), Cody Lecoy (Okanagan/Esquimalt), Arizona Leger (Fijian, Samoan, Tongan, Maori), Danielle Morsette (Stó:lō /Suquamish), Ellena Neel (Kwakwaka'wakw/Ahousaht), Zach Soakai (Tongan, Samoan), Diamond Point (Musqueam), Crystal Smith de Molina (Git’ga’at), Nola Naera (Maori), Kelsey Sparrow (Musqueam/Anishinabe), Cole Speck (Kwakwaka'wakw), Rose Stiffarm ((Siksika Blackfoot, Chippewa Cree, Tsartlip Saanich, Cowichan, A'aninin, Nakoda, French, & Scottish), Taleetha Tait (Wet’suwet’en), Marja Bål Nango (Sámi, Norway), Harry Brown (Kwakwaka'wakw), Anna McKenzie (Opaskwayak Cree, Manitoba), Sarah Yankoo (Austrian, Scottish, Algonquin, Irish and Romanian), Raymond Caplin (Mi’gmac), Emilio Wawatie (Anishanabe) and the Northern Collection (Toombz/Shane Kelsey [Mohawk], and the Curse/Cory Golder [Mi’maq]). The Third Industrial Revolution: A Radical New Sharing Economy

01:44:59
The global economy is in crisis. The exponential exhaustion of natural resources, declining productivity, slow growth, rising unemployment, and steep inequality, forces us to rethink our economic models. Where do we go from here? In this feature-length documentary, social and economic theorist Jeremy Rifkin lays out a road map to usher in a new economic system. A Third Industrial Revolution is unfolding with the convergence of three pivotal technologies: an ultra-fast 5G communication internet, a renewable energy internet, and a driverless mobility internet, all connected to the Internet of Things embedded across society and the environment. This 21st century smart digital infrastructure is giving rise to a radical new sharing economy that is transforming the way we manage, power and move economic life. But with climate change now ravaging the planet, it needs to happen fast. Change of this magnitude requires political will and a profound ideological shift. Richard Wagamese - Indian Horse

57:11
Presented by the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. In this emotional tale of Saul Indian Horse, Richard Wagamese tells the realistic story of a man whose life is drastically changed by one of Canada's most painful histories. When Saul was a child he was taken away from his family and forced into an Indian Residential School where he witnessed and experienced unimaginable abuses at the hands of the school's educators. In spite of the harrowing atrocities, it is at the school that Saul discovers his love of hockey, a game that, for a short time, serves as a means of escape. Saul's talent leads to a draft with a minor league team and a spot on Team Canada during the 1972 Canada-Soviet Summit Series. However, as Saul grows into a man, he struggles with racism and alcohol addiction. Saul's tumultuous adulthood eventually leads him back to his roots, where he confronts his past and begins a new journey towards healing. Richard Wagamese is an Ojibway author from the Wabaseemoong First Nation in Northwestern Ontario. He is the author of several fiction and non-fiction works including For Joshua: An Ojibway Father Teaches His Son, Runaway Dreams, and Indian Horse. Wagamese has also been a journalist and, in 1991, became the first Aboriginal Canadian to receive the National Newspaper Award for Column Writing. His most recent novel, Indian Horse, was chosen as the winner of First Nation Communities Read, and is on the Globe and Mail's bestseller's list as well as the Canadian Booksellers Association's bestseller's list. Among his awards, Wagamese's memoir One Native Life was listed as one of The Globe and Mail's 100 Best Books of 2008. In 2010 he accepted an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Thompson Rivers University. Wagamese currently lives just outside of Kamloops, BC with his wife, Debra Powell, and Molly the Story Dog.

SXSW 2018 - The Cure: Hospital Technologies That Work Together

54:27
On March 10, 2018, Vice Admiral Raquel C. Bono, Director, Defense Health Agency and Sezin Palmer, National Health Mission Area Executive, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, discussed how different stakeholders are working to improve the interoperability of hospital technologies at South by Southwest 2018 in Austin, Texas. Patients are denied access to simple life-saving techniques purely because the technologies in our hospitals don't work with one another and can't integrate. In addition, the health industry is estimated to lose $750 billion each year because it hasn't solved the problem of interoperability. Several years ago, one of the best hospitals in the world partnered with one of the best systems engineering centers in the world to find a new way forward. We'll share what works and future visions.
