What terminally ill patient told hero paramedics at beach | Breaking News US/Australia

04:22
★More News Channel - Entertainment Video►► http://bit.ly/2zUac3v Aterminally ill patient told hero paramedics a heart-warming message when they granted her dying wish to see the ocean one last time. Two Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics took the palliative care patient to see Hervey Bay beach one more time before she passed away days later.'I said to the patient (as she looked out at Fraser Island): 'What are you thinking?',' QAS paramedic Danielle Kellum told reporters.'And she said: 'I'm at peace, everything is right'.' QAS posted the photo of Queensland Advanced Care paramedic Graeme Cooper standing beside the woman in a hospital bed overlooking the water at Hervey Bay, a coastal city in Queensland.Mr Cooper told Daily Mail Australia two weeks ago, the Hervey Bay local wanted to go home from palliative care to die in her own home with her husband.'We asked her how she would feel to go by the beach on the way home and she lit up, it was wonderful actually,' Mr Cooper said on Thursday.'While we were down there, we let her look at everything.' But it wasn't until her second visit to the beach, where she passed away a short time after, on the way back to the hospital on the central coast of Queensland. The woman was able to see an ocean view from Fraser Island, to the iconic Urangan Pier all the way through to Bundaberg.'I got a throw away vomit bag and filled it with salt water, she tasted it with her mouth,' Mr Cooper said.'These things are always special, dealing with someone whose journey is coming to an end.'It's a powerful, moving, connecting moment .I can't describe how it happens, it's priceless.' Hervey Bay Officer in Charge Helen Donaldson said the woman's dying wish was to visit the beach again, a special place where she and her husband bought a house.'A crew were transporting a patient to the palliative care unit of the local hospital and the patient expressed that she just wished she could be at the beach again,' she said.'Above and beyond, the crew took a small diversion to the awesome beach at Hervey Bay to give the patient this opportunity.'Tears were shed and the patient felt very happy.'Sometimes it is not the drugs, training, skills, sometimes all you need is empathy to make a difference.' Ms Donaldson thanked paramedics Mr Cooper and Ms Kellum for their 'great work'.Mr Cooper told Daily Mail Australia moments like this were always special, however Ms Kellum said the reason she took the photo was to share how Mr Cooper always goes 'above and beyond' for patients.'To see the spark in her eye, the gratitude they give you .they haven't been in the sun for a long time and letting them have ten minutes of sunshine means the world to them and they thank you for it,' he said. The post has garnered an overwhelming amount of attention, attracting more than 18,000 likes and another 5,000 comments in five hours.Mr Cooper, who has been with QAS for 27 years, said he was overwhelmed by the response and never expected any of this. The post was also littered with comments in support of the 'beautiful' gesture.'What a beautiful yet sad story but one that highlights everything good about our community,' one woman said.'Oh my goodness what an incredible gift you gave this patient.Has warmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes – so incredibly proud,' a second said.Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Thursday, QAS' spokesman Michael Augustus said the service was 'blown away by the response'.'It's so lovely that a really simple act of kindness, something that the paramedics just did, made this lady's day,' Mr Augustus said.'It cost them nothing but five minutes of their time.'These paramedics certainly deserve some recognition, but we've just been gobsmacked by the support.

Volunteering for Compton Hospice

03:42
Contributing your time to the hospice is valued equally to cash donations. Compton Hospice couldnt continue to serve the community without the commitment and dedication of the 615 volunteers that give of their time each year to help keep our services running. Without these unsung heroes, our organisation could not function. In fact, volunteers at Compton Hospice outnumber paid workers by almost three to one and, in monetary terms, save the hospice around £1 million each year in salaries. But because their motivation is often very personal, the care and personality our volunteers bring to the hospice enhance the service we offer in a very special way and its hard to put a value on that input.

Caring for Carers: Depression, Anxiety and the Impact of Caring

01:04:17
There are nearly 2.6 million people in Australia who are carers. Carers provide unpaid care and support to people who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail. These people may not call themselves 'carers'; they are partners, parents, siblings, relatives, other family members and/or friends. Carers come from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. They may be working or studying, as well as providing care. They may be any age. Caring can be a demanding role that requires mental and physical energy, commitment and dedication. Carers in outer regional and remote areas experience higher rates of disability or a long-term health condition themselves, and are more likely to experience financial hardship than carers in major cities. Indigenous people in rural and remote Australia are also more likely to be carers than non-Indigenous people in these areas. Caring for a person with a mental illness has particular challenges. The episodic nature of mental illness, the stigma still associated with it, the symptoms of the illness, and the struggle to obtain appropriate treatment and care for a family member or friend, can all contribute to a carer feeling overwhelmed. Carers need strategies to manage these challenges. Their experiences can predispose carers to mental illness themselves. In 2007, carers were found to have the lowest wellbeing of any large group recorded by the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index in The Wellbeing of Australians: Carer Health and Wellbeing. This program covers two main areas. Firstly, it discusses the experiences and particular challenges for carers supporting a person with mental health problems. The importance of carers as part of the care team, and useful strategies for supporting a person with a mental illness are included. Secondly, the program acknowledges the impact of caring on the carer's physical and mental health. It assists health practitioners to develop practical ways to support and encourage carers to look after themselves. Support, counselling and respite services are also examined. The program is introduced by Joan Hughes, CEO of Carers Australia. Produced by the Rural Health Education Foundation http://www.rhef.com.au/

Dying is a social and spiritual and cultural event, and only part of that is to do with medicine. This moving film tells the story of a good death.. and a good bereavement. Molly and Judy's story demonstrates how early conversations make a big difference. The film also shows what can happen when health and social care teams work together and communicate well. Only by talking openly - and honestly - with those closest to us, and those providing our care, can we help to ensure that our final wishes are me. Shocking Before And After Images Show Ravaging Effect Of Bowel Cancer On Young Mother

00:28
Nicole Yarran was diagnosed with terminal liver and bowel cancer after she was given a routine scan while pregnant with her third child. The mum-of-three, 32, died in August at the Palliative care unit at Claremont’s Bethesda Hospital in Western Australia, after battling both stage four cancers. Her last request was to help to make young people aware they could get the disease. Nicole’s mum, Kathy Narrier, is on a mission to fulfil her daughter’s request. She told RAP: Nicole’s story began in 2014/2015, she had been feeling unwell and was losing weight dramatically, was constantly bloated and constipated and had blood in her stools. She had raised her concerns with her GP and was told simply that she was ‘too young for bowel cancer’, and was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, IBS. Nicole sourced another doctor at the same practice and her opinion was that Nicole was suffering from celiac, neither doctor performed any tests, no ultrasound or blood tests. Nicole, still ill and battling constant pain and bloating, fell pregnant with her third daughter Alavi and was to have an ultrasound for her pregnancy. It was only then, doctors discovered eight ‘golf ball-sized’ tumours on her liver. A specialist from Perth then performed another scan and then on Christmas eve, 2015, Nicole received the news of metastatic colorectal cancer. Three days later on December 27th she started her treatment. Kathy told RAP: If the Doctor had only listened to her symptoms and requested a stool sample or full blood count, at least they would have found it in 2014, because it was the pregnancy that aspirated the cancer, it literally fed the tumours. Kathy said Nicole realised all the things she’d be missing out on with her three children but stayed strong throughout. She told RAP: Nicole was so proud of her daughters, she wanted to watch them grow, and because of her illness she missed out on so much. She has missed many netball games, school plays, social events, family funerals and her youngest’s first day of daycare and kindergarten, just the little things. Nicole realised she wouldn’t see Aaylah, who’s five, and Alavis who is 18 months old, attend their first day of school, or Alkeres first day of secondary school, nor see any of them graduate, or enter into their careers or further studies. She knew she’d never witness the birth of her grandchildren or hear the word Nanna, she realised each birthday would be celebrated with a heavy heart, because the person whom gave them birth is no longer singing happy birthday to them. Just the little things that we all take for granted, my granddaughters will now miss out on celebrating their milestones with the most important person of their lives, their mother. Finally, Kathy shared the importance of telling us Nicole’s story. She said: Nicole was a warrior during her ordeal, she got angry at the sight of tears, and yes she hid the majority of her prognosis, it was not until she developed fluid that it became apparent that we were on borrowed time. I only ask that Nicole’s story is one that highlights the importance for any practitioner to respect the opinions of your patients, that just for once think outside the statistics or written theory that guide your head and listen to what your gut tells you, because more than often, its the first initial gut instinct that is can prevent the negative outcome, and could prevent the death of a loved one. I am asking for help to share Nicole’s story so that other young women and men that know their bodies and know that there is something wrong. Fight to continually ask for further tests, ask for a second opinions because if you don’t it could literally cost you your life, and no family needs to suffer the heartache of losing a young member of their family. Hopefully Nicole’s mother sharing her story and experience will save lives in the future.

35:37
Today's Alternative News Channel - 17 Natural Cancer Cures Busting the Myths Natural cancer cures do exist, and are even widely known. There are numerous promising and outright proven natural cancer cures, treatments and remedies – many cheap and easily self-administered. But the first things to get past are your own doubts and fears. It can be hard to step out of the box of orthodox, conventional, mainstream, allopathic Western Medicine, especially when faced with a serious illness like cancer. However, the prospect of facing surgery, radiation or chemo is no more difficult or appealing, as each comes with its own set of toxic and even lethal side effects (and extremely low survival rates.) How to green the world's deserts and reverse climate change | Allan Savory

22:20
"Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert," begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk. And terrifyingly, it's happening to about two-thirds of the world's grasslands, accelerating climate change and causing traditional grazing societies to descend into social chaos. Savory has devoted his life to stopping it. He now believes -- and his work so far shows -- that a surprising factor can protect grasslands and even reclaim degraded land that was once desert. Mad luv to palliative care, hospice, and end-of-life providers around the world. Lyrics: Just gonna stand there and watch me burn End of life and all my wishes go unheard They just prolong me and don’t ask why It’s not right because this ain’t the way to die, ain’t the way to die Patient: I can’t tell you what I really want You can only guess what it feels like And right now it’s a steel knife in my windpipe I can’t breathe but ya still fight ‘cause ya can fight Long as the wrong’s done right—protocol’s tight High off of drugs, try to sedate I’m like a pincushion, I hate it, the more I suffer I suffocate And right before I’m about to die, you resuscitate me You think you’ve saved me, and I hate it, wait… Let me go, I’m leaving you—no I ain’t Tube is out, you put it right back, here we go again It’s so insane, ’cause though you think it’s good, I’m so in pain I’m more machine than man now, I’m Anakin But no advanced directive, I feel so ashamed And, crap, who’s that nurse? I don’t even know her name You lay hands on me, to prolong my life again I guess you must think that this is livin’… Just gonna stand there and watch me burn End of life and all my wishes go unheard They just prolong me and don’t ask why It’s my right to choose the way that I should die Doctor: You ever love somebody so much, you can barely see when you with ‘em That they, lay sick and dying but you just don’t wanna let ‘em Be at peace cause you miss ‘em already and they ain’t gone Beep beep, the ventilator alarms I swore I’d never harm ‘em, never do nothing to hurt ‘em Hippocratic oath primum non nocere now I’m forced just to torture ‘em They push full code, no one knows what his wishes were His sister heard him say once, “I don’t wanna be a vegetable” But no one agrees in the family, his caregiver Kate Wants him comfort care but Aunt Claire lives so far away That her guilt eats her like cancer So she answers, “Wait! I think he’ll wake” Maam, you ain’t even in the state! Palliate, relieve pain, get him home, explain Critical care? Just hypocritical when it’s so insane But they insist I shock his heart again so I persist Guess that’s why they say that love is pain. Just gonna stand there and watch me burn End of life and all my wishes go unheard They just prolong me and don’t ask why It’s my right to choose the way that I should die The way that I should die

There is unholy trinity of AMA (American Medical Association), FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and Big Pharma, here’s a brief historical summary. But first, important to note that I’m not against allopathic medicine. It’s very appropriate for physical trauma from injuries, emergency situations, and can be useful for various ailments. I am against the tyrannical monopoly they enforce with mafia-like tactics of threats, lies, distortions to ruin the lives of those who earnestly heal and prevent disease better and more safely. Additionally, I’m against allopathic medicine’s shutting down access to other more efficacious, safe, and less expensive medical options – alternative healing. The Financial Seeds Of Medical Tyranny Prior to the early twentieth century, thriving empirical medical practices, natural medicine, were more popular than allopathic medicine, which at that time specialized in surgery. This changed as influential individuals secured a spot on the financial empire. The Carnegie, Morgan, and Rockefeller financial conglomeration at the turn of the 20th Century was the impetus toward total power over the medical field. Soon after their initial thrusts, it was the Rockefeller Institute that ensured the growth of this monopoly. After all, it was John D. Rockefeller who was quoted as saying, “Competition is a sin.” Even the newly formed antitrust laws of the early 20th Century could not deter John D. from figuring out how to get around those restrictions with his oil business. One could say Rockefeller was the Godfather of antitrust law chicanery by playing shell games with his industries and retaining his monopoly. The early centerpiece of his empire was oil. But early on, JD Rockefeller was aware of expanding his financial empire through the burgeoning pharmaceutical industry. His intention was to control the whole medical field, using the only remedies allowed, patented synthetic drugs. Natural remedies can’t be patented, and patents bring big profits. So John D. started by donating to medical schools, beginning with the University of Chicago’s School of Medicine. The stipulations were that only pharmaceutical based medicine would be taught. Then he hired Abraham Flexner to tour medical schools of other traditions throughout the nation “evaluating” the treatments they taught. From that came the 1906 Flexner Report, which was sufficient to persuade lawmakers into creating legislation that would license only physicians trained in patented chemical based pharmacology and surgery. Meanwhile, John D. Rockefeller recruited JP Morgan and Dale Carnegie as partners for buying a controlling share of the German drug cartel I.G. Farben. The AMA had been in existence since 1847 as an allopathic physician’s union. It came into prominence as a ruling medical non-government agency from 1920 on, with exclusive power over granting and revoking medical licensing. The AMA would ridicule other non-synthetic drug medical practices as “quackery” and ensure those practitioners were driven out of business. After all, competition is a sin, J.D. Rockefeller once quipped. Ironically, it’s reported that during this time, the Rockefeller family used homeopathy for their medical needs. The AMA/Cancer Industry Dodges A Congressional Bullet Morris Fishbein’s tenure as head of the AMA and editor of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) from 1924 to 1950 set the precedent for terrorizing medical practitioners who strayed from accepted surgical and pharmaceutical dogma. Occasionally, there were Sherman Anti-Trust Law suits against the AMA that succeeded. But overall, the legacy of AMA tyranny, with support from the FDA, has grown to become the enforcer for what many deem the ‘Medical Mafia’ today. The Medical Mafia even managed to get past Senator Benedict Fitzgerald’s scathing congressional committee report in 1953. That’s because the report was conveniently buried in congressional archives until recently retrieved by medical crusader Dr. Stanley Monteith. That report was originally ordered by Congressman Charles Toby, whose son was cured of terminal cancer by an alternative practitioner. Toby wanted to know why these cancer therapies were not easily accessible to the general public, so he tracked down every institute and publication involved with the cancer industry and carefully reviewed cases of suppressed alternative cancer treatments. He saw the cancer industry’s big picture clearly. A quote from that report: “Behind this is the weirdest conglomeration of corrupt motives, intrigues, jealousy, selfishness, obstruction, and conspiracy I have ever seen.” The Rockefeller Foundation’s tentacles began wrapping around top publishers and media moguls several decades ago. And Big Pharma currently spends billions on advertising. As a Bob Dylan line from one of his early songs goes, “Money doesn’t talk, it swears.”

Tooth decay can start for children as young as a year old, and their fluoride needs must be met while thumb sucking and either harmful habits must be avoided. Flossing habits should also be developed as soon as possible. Children must be taught to brush their teeth regularly. And most importantly, the team at Arbutus North Dental can even encourage younger members of the family to look forward to visits to the dentist.” Dr. Lockhart explained “Arbutus North Dental offers emergency services, and they insist that they be called when family members experience loose or sensitive teeth, swollen or bloody gums, or any alignment concerns. The Martlets Hospice

A film about the patients and staff at the Martlets Hospice in Hove. We believe that everyone is entitled to a good and dignified death and since we opened in 1997 we have been helping people with terminal illness to die well. We've also been caring for their families and loved ones, helping them through difficult times. All of our services are provided free of charge and since 1997 we've cared for over 22,000 local people. We care for adults aged 18 and over who live in and around Brighton and Hove and are affected by terminal and life-limiting illnesses. Most of our patients are dying from cancer, but we also treat people with other chronic long-term conditions such as heart disease and neurological conditions. As a registered charity we receive less than a third of our funding from the NHS, so we must raise over £8,000 a day to care for our patients and their families. With your support we can make sure we're here when people need us most. For more information about our services visit www.themartlets.org.uk

Jimmy Kimmel on School Shooting in Parkland, Florida

04:50
We are all reeling after yet another senseless shooting that took place at a high school in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen people lost their lives and more than a dozen are hospitalized. Donald Trump gave a speech addressing the tragic events saying that no child or teacher should be afraid of their lives while at school. Jimmy agrees with Trump but in order to fix this SOMETHING has to be done. We need real laws that keep assault rifles out of the hands of people who are going to shoot our kids. These Congressmen and lobbyists don’t work for the NRA, they work for us. If you want to help go to www.everytown.org and write to your representatives. If they don’t listen, vote them out. Someone Stole My "Beep'n" Truck (family-friendly version)

03:28
This is the family-friendly version of this song (so it's safe for work or public broadcast). For the uncensored version go to: https://youtu.be/a7VxKo9_scY The Making of “Someone Stole My "Beep'n" Truck” When 55-year-old Roger Burgess found out that, after a lifetime fighting the disease, he had terminal cancer, he created a bucket list of things he has always wanted to do. One of the items on that list was to be involved in a music recording and video. Roger’s friend, Mark Willers, had written a humorous song after his truck and tools were stolen a few years ago, and when Roger heard the song, he was pretty keen on it. Mark decided to pull together some of the awesome talent in our little village of Culburra Beach (in New South Wales, Australia) and everyone was happy to come on board to record the song and video. Studio time and engineering services were volunteered by Marcus Adamson and Luke Robins at Beachtracks Studios and everyone came together one Sunday to get the recording done. It so happened that on that weekend a bunch of Roger’s friends arrived (they had traveled 2000 km from North Queensland to visit), and they were all duly coerced into providing their services as backing singers on the day. There was a joyous feeling in the studio as each of the musicians laid down their tracks and the backup singers did their stuff. Roger played 12-string guitar on the recording, while Ernie Van Veen played acoustic guitars and slide dobro, Glen Duffield played drums, Marcus Adamson played bass and songwriter, Mark Willers, provided main vocals. The video was shot and edited by video producer Ernie Van Veen, partly during the recording session and also a couple of weeks later at the Nerriga Hotel. There was also a final session to film the stealing of the truck in Culburra Beach. Many hands were raised to play the role of truck thief. This project is a testament to the power of community and friendship. Everyone was more than happy to donate their time, and people from the community were coming out of the woodwork offering to be involved. With the project now complete, and the video available on Youtube - all that remains is to fulfil Roger’s next bucket list item and have it go viral! UPDATE: Vale, Roger Burgess. You were an interesting man and introduced us to a lot of interesting people, some of whom are now our good friends. Thank you for that, and for your friendship. When we left you at Sydney airport to embark on your trip home, you said it would be your final chapter. Little did we know you were already on the last page. I will miss your wry smile and wicked sense of humour. Rest in peace, brother.
