Vitamin D3 & K2: https://shop.drberg.com/d3-k2-vitamin... Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about getting testing for vitamin D levels. Its vital to test both for the inactive vitamin D (25-hydroxy vitamin D) and the active form (1,25 dihydroxy vitamin D). If you are deficient in both, it could be you are not getting enough in your diet. If you are low in the inactive version but high in the active version it could be a tumor in your parathyroid. Vitamin B12 deficiency can sneak up on you, and can lead to a myriad of diseases and disorders. Know the signs and symptoms. You could be deficient yet still test in the so-called range of "normal B12" on a blood test, especially if you have taken an oral B12 supplement of uncertain quality, or you have been under-treating the deficiency. Oral B12 supplements do not work for all patients; patients with digestive/absorption problems benefit from B12 injections, as do patients with nerve damage.

Listen to the full episode here:: http://bengreenfieldfitness.libsyn.com/the-real-truth-about-genetic-testing-why-23andme-is-not-enough-the-most-advanced-genetic-test-you-should-get-instead-for-customizing-your-exercise-your-diet-your-supplements-more Three months ago, I and my twin ten-year-old boys sent our saliva off to a lab in Canada for one of the most advanced genetic tests available. And I was blown away by what I learned. In today's podcast, I reveal the test that we took, exactly what we learned and how you can take the same test as we did. My guest is Dr. Karim Dhanani, who is the founder and Chief Medical Director at Toronto’s Centre for Biological Medicine, a clinic that is redefining North American naturopathic medicine for the 21st century. Dr. Dhanani’s clinic – a specially designed, ecologically sound facility set in pristine Canadian woodland – has become a global mecca for those seeking to live their lives at 100%. For Dr. Dhanani, the appeal of medicine was always the investigative aspect. He loves breaking down a tough problem, and systematically uncovering the root causes with diligence, discipline, and precision. After completing his education in biology, chemistry, and naturopathic medicine, he found his calling in German biological medicine, a branch of naturopathy that integrates cutting-edge science and precision with the millennia-old wisdom of natural healing techniques. But just learning in a laboratory setting wasn’t enough. Dr. Dhanani set off on a journey that took him from Canada to Europe to Africa and beyond, to understand what lies at the most advanced frontiers of Biological Medicine. Since establishing the Centre for Biological Medicine in 2002, he has transformed the lives of thousands of individuals, including athletes, scientists, and other doctors at the highest levels of their professions. His internationally renowned reputation – particularly in the naturopathic treatment of chronic degenerative disease – has led to research collaborations with Nobel Prize winners, and turned Dr. Dhanani into one of naturopathic medicine’s most sought-after speakers. During our discussion, you'll discover: -The fascinating history and world of biological medicine, and a German pioneer of medicine that Dr. Dhanani learned from...9:15 The goal is to identify the "root cause" of a symptom or problem. It's a combination of diagnostic tools and innovative thought processes. "We look to see what 'outside the box' is influencing what is 'inside the box.'" What is the relationship between biological medicine and bioregulatory medicine? Only substantive difference is that of vernacular. Both are looking at the body's capacity to heal; responses to symptoms, or "punches" to your body. Cell communication: we believe cells speak via biochemistry. Dr. Fritz Albert Popp: pioneer of biophotonic signaling of cells. The Baden Baden Biological Medicine conference in Germany. Energy medicine has a larger role to play than physical medicine. -The most interesting biohacks coming out of Europe, including the Mora machine for detoxification and new types of laser treatments for red blood cells...21:55 Just like we use words to communicate, certain bodies require light and sound to communicate. The Mora machine uses electronics and sound to drive specific frequencies into the system. We can increase the amount of glutathione in your body by simply giving the frequency of glutathione without injecting it. You're providing a mechanism to carry the molecule into the body energetically. Weber Intravenous Laser Therapy Different color lights (not LED) affects communication between cells. Depth of penetration of LED lights isn't as efficacious as lasers. -Where 23andme genetic testing falls short, and what Dr. Dhanani has discovered when it comes to the truth about genetic testing and genomics...29:18 You're only as good as the technology available. Tests must be 1) Accurate, 2) Reproducible and 3) Functionally relevant. 23andme uses "SNIPS" which are not functionally relevant; they're good for data collection and perhaps ancestry. For illustration: You don't assume the forest is unwell because one tree in it is unwell. Look at associations of SNIPS. MTHFR is one of many we can examine. Anywhere between 15-40% error rate with consumer tests like 23andme. CNV (copy number variance) D2C tests don't tell you whether you have one or two copies of a particular gene. You get a distorted view of your level of detox. The type of genetic testing is applicable for testing for illegal substances. 23andme also doesn't test for insertion/deletion genes. -Why Ben can't absorb Vitamin D from sunlight, and why he must supplement with Vitamin D instead...52:00 Vitamin D is actually a pro-hormone, more than an actual vitamin. 125 hydroxy vitamin D is the actual component. Some people are not genetically predisposed to absorb the 125 hydroxy from sunlight; it's necessary to transport it via supplements. Thorne Vitamin D

In this video I have explained the activation of vitamin D in the liver and kidney by hydroxylation process. Regulation of active vitamin D3 by PTH (parathyroid hormone), 24-hydroxylase and active vitamin D itself. Main function of vitamin D is to regulate calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. Other functions of vitamin D have been revealed by recent research like its role in preventing tumor formation, immune mechanism, insulin sensitivity. Sunlight exposure is the source of vitamin D from our skin. You Can Subscribe to my Channel for REGULAR UPDATES by clicking on SUBSCRIBE button above! Our genes influence the way we absorb and metabolize micronutrients. Nutrigenomics looks at the influence genetic variation has over micronutrient absorption/metabolism and the biological consequences of this dynamic relationship. Our diet also influences which of these genes are turned on or off! Emerging evidence in the field of epigenetics has demonstrated that not only can we change the expression of our own genes within our own lifetime; sometimes these changes are heritable and affect our children and grandchildren. In this talk we’ll be exploring the intersection between genetics, nutrition, and environment: how your diet, micronutrients, exercise, heat stress, and sleep can change the expression of your genes and how this has profound effects on the way your body functions and ages. Rhonda Perciavalle Patrick, Ph.D. is an assistant scientist at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute working with Dr. Bruce Ames. She investigates the effects of micronutrient (vitamins and minerals) deficiencies on metabolism, inflammation, DNA damage, and aging in people. She also researches the role of vitamin D in brain function and dysfunction. In addition to Rhonda’s active role as a researcher, she also functions as a science communicator for a broad lay audience via her web and video presence found at FoundMyFitness.com. She is passionate about disseminating health-related information in a way that the general public can easily understand. She is a frequent speaker and writer on topics ranging from general health and wellness, to diet and aging, to vitamins and their effects. It is Rhonda’s goal to challenge the status quo and encourage the wider public to think about health and longevity using a proactive, preventative approach. Rhonda earned her Ph.D. in biomedical science from the University of Tennessee and performed her graduate research work at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She also has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biochemistry/chemistry from the University of California, San Diego. She has done extensive research on aging, cancer and nutrition, and metabolism.

Vitamin D is an extremely important vitamin that has powerful effects on several-systems throughout the body. Unlike most vitamins, vitamin-D actually functions like a hormone, and every single cell in your body has a receptor for it. Your body makes it from cholesterol when your skin is exposed to sunlight. It's also found in certain foods such as fatty fish and fortified dairy products, although it's very difficult to get enough from diet alone. The recommended daily intake is usually around 400-800 IU, but many experts say you should get even more than that. Vitamin-D deficiency is very common. It's estimated that about 1 billion people worldwide have low levels of the vitamin in their blood. Here are 6 signs you may have Vitamin-D deficiency. 1.Bone and Back Pain Vitamin-D is involved in maintaining bone health through a number of mechanisms. For one, it improves your body's absorption of calcium. Bone pain and lower back pain may be signs of inadequate vitamin D levels in the blood. Large observational studies have found a relationship between a deficiency and chronic lower back pain. 2.You Have Gut Trouble Remember, vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means if you have a gastrointestinal condition that affects your ability to absorb fat, you may have lower absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin D as well. This includes gut conditions like Crohn's, celiac and non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and inflammatory bowel disease. 3.Depression A depressed mood may also be a sign of deficiency. On the other hand, most of the controlled trials, which carry more scientific weight than observational studies, didn't show a link between the two Some controlled studies have shown that giving vitamin D to people who are deficient helps improve depression, including seasonal depression that occurs during the colder months. 4.Hair Loss Hair loss is often attributed to stress, which is certainly a common cause. However, when hair loss is severe, it may be the result of a disease or nutrient deficiency. Hair loss in women has been linked to low Vitamin-D levels, although there is very little research on this so far In a case study, topical application of a synthetic form of the vitamin was found to successfully treat hair loss in a young boy with a defect in the Vitamin-D receptor. 5.Bad mood A depression diagnosis is often actually linked to a shortage of vitamin D. While the jury is still out about why, the Vitamin D Council says that the mineral may work in the same brain areas—and impact the same hormones, like serotonin—as those that affect mood. 6.Fatigue and Tiredness Feeling tired can have many causes and vitamin D deficiency may be one of them. Unfortunately, it's often overlooked as a potential cause. In one case, a woman who complained of chronic daytime fatigue and headaches was found to have a blood level of only 5.9 Nanograms per milliliter. This is extremely low, as anything under 20 Nanograms per mililiter is considered to be deficient.

Magnesium is a mineral found in many types of foods, it plays an essential role in human DNA production, repair and in maintaining healthy bones, nerves and muscles. Though it is readily available, most Americans do not meet their need for magnesium through their diet. you should consider getting your magnesium level checked if you suffer the following 11 symptoms. 1. Low energy. Magnesium is involved in at least 300 different chemical reactions in our body, and a lot have to do with energy production. A sign of low magnesium can be low energy. 2.Insomnia. If you're having a hard time falling or staying asleep, it may be due to low levels of magnesium, particularly if you are experiencing a lot of stress. Stress hormones increase blood pressure and heart rate, this is partly accomplished by depleting the body of its magnesium If there isn't enough magnesium available for the body to replenish itself, sleeping becomes a problem. 3.Constipation. Bowel movements often slow down without enough magnesium in the body. note that magnesium is the main ingredient in many over-the-counter laxatives. 4.Frequent headaches. Magnesium deficiency lowers serotonin levels, causes blood vessels to constrict and affects neurotransmitter function, all related to headaches -- especially migraines. 50% of migraine sufferers have a magnesium deficiency. 5.Twitching or cramping. Because magnesium plays an important role in muscle relaxation, insufficient intake can result in unintended muscle movement. Without magnesium, our muscles would be in a constant state of contraction 6.Low bone density. Magnesium plays a major role in bone formation, and the majority of the body's magnesium is stored in the bones. People with higher intakes of magnesium have a higher bone mineral density. 7.High blood pressure. Magnesium is very important in maintaining a healthy blood pressure, a deficiency can definitely cause pressure to be too high. Eating foods high in magnesium and other minerals can help prevent high blood pressure in people with prehypertension. 8.Type 2 diabetes. Breaking down blood sugars is another of magnesium's jobs in the human body. People with higher amounts of magnesium in their diets tend to have a lower risk of developing diabetes. Research is ongoing to determine whether magnesium therapy can be used in diabetes treatment. 9.Irregular heartbeat. With low magnesium levels, the heart can have trouble staying in its regular rhythm. doctors will often prescribe magnesium supplements for patients who complain of an irregular heartbeat. 10.Increased sensitivity to noise. Not having enough magnesium curtails its role in stabilizing the nervous system, This often results in hyperflexia, an enhanced startle reflex. And 11. Depression and anxiety. Low levels of magnesium in the brain can affect neurological functions that result in all sorts of problems. Studies have shown that some phobias -- such as agoraphobia -- have developed as a result of low magnesium levels. How does a vitamin B12 deficiency affect important functions in the body? If someone eats a plant based diet that is abundant in folate, can this affect the size of their red blood cells and how does this relate to vitamin B12 testing? The information in this video is a summary and is by no means complete, which is true with research in general. It characterizes the fascinating nature of inquiry - there is much that is currently known and much that has yet to be known. This video shows I'm using iodine to test if the Vitamin C present in different food and the Vitamin C concentration. Everyone knows lemon and orange rich in vitamin C and so I have used them for my experiment comparing with Atomy Vitamin C. When Vitamin C meet Iodine, it will generate chemical reaction. By looking at my experiment, I have only added very small amount of Atomy Vitamin C and I'm amazed the concentration of the Atomy vitamin c that able to cleanse the water only in seconds. The healthy benefit of vitamin c include the prevention and treatment of scurvy, treatment of common cold, boosting immune system, lowering hyper tension, treatment of lead toxicity, curing cataracts, treatment of cancer, combating stroke, maintain elasticity of the skin, heading wound, and controlling the symptoms of asthma. Vitamin C is one of the most effective and safest nutrients, a powerful antioxidant for synthesis of collagen which helps to make blood vessels and body muscles strong. Our human body doesn't have the capacity to generate vitamin C, especially we are exposed to the polluted environment, having unhealthy lifestyle like eating unhealthy food deep fried and snacks, stress from work, sleep irregularly etc.. so it is important to take good quality vitamin c. Atomy Vitamin C is in powder form which easier to absorb into our body and easy to take for adult or kids. If u haven't try.. Please try!! It’s no secret that the food we eat has a huge effect on our health, wellbeing, and of course our ability to ride a bike. The harder you train and race, the more important this becomes. Iron is one of the most important micronutrients for endurance cyclists. It’s a crucial part of haemoglobin which transports oxygen around the body. Low iron levels are detrimental to performance. Iron comes in two forms - haem or non-haem. Haem iron comes from animal sources and non-haem from plants, which is less well absorbed. It’s important to be aware of foods that are high in iron and techniques to help increase absorption - because the iron story is not just about how much you consume, but also how well you absorb it. For example, vitamin C enhances absorption, whereas dietary fibre and the tannins in tea and coffee inhibit it. Moreover, because hepcidin (released by the liver to inhibit iron absorption) is elevated both after stress ie. exercise, iron will not be absorbed readily after training. B12 has many functions in the body, but is predominantly for the normal functioning of the brain and central nervous system and making red blood cells. Therefore, as with iron, it is a pretty essential part of a cyclist’s diet. A lack of B12 in the diet can also cause anaemia, but not the same as with iron. B12 deficiency anaemia causes the body to produce abnormally large red blood cells which lose their oxygen carrying capacity. Vitamin D, AKA the sunshine vitamin. Needed for the absorption of calcium and therefore needed to maintain bone mass; a deficiency has been associated with brittle bones, something lifelong cyclists might be susceptible to anyway. It has also been shown to play a vital role in the immune system, as well as improving muscular strength. Creatine is a chemical naturally found in the body, helping to release energy in anaerobic efforts. Because of that, it’s really popular among sprint based sports, but for certain endurance cyclists, it can also be beneficial. Road events can include repeated sprints of course, but the tradeoff is that it promotes storage of water and therefore you might put on a kilo or two of weight. Vitamin D deficiency and calcium deficiency look very similar, and poorly interpreted blood tests can easily mislead us into taking the wrong supplements. Here's how to tell them apart.

How to Increase the Uptake of Vitamins and Minerals ►https://www.jimstoppani.com/ ►https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/jym/vita-jym.html?skuId=JYM5000189 Many multivitamins sold today actually include minerals that you don't want in a multivitamin for your nutrition needs. These minerals can inhibit the uptake of important nutrients, like amino acids, as well as other critical minerals.* The first mineral you don't want in your multi is zinc. Zinc can inhibit the uptake of amino acids, thus creating an unwanted deficiency! Since it is important to take a multivitamin with a meal, such as breakfast, a multivitamin that includes zinc could interfere with your body's ability to utilize the amino acids in the protein you consumed at breakfast. That could interfere with muscle growth and strength gains, which is the last thing that you want!* Calcium is another big problem in multivitamin supplements. Calcium interferes with iron and manganese absorption. Unfortunately, calcium is in 99.99% of the multivitamins for sale. Then there's magnesium, which is also found in most multivitamins. It interferes with manganese and calcium absorption. Both calcium and magnesium should be completely absent from your multivitamin, and they should be taken at a separate time of day. Phosphorus is the fourth mineral you don't want in your multi. The typical American diet is already rich in phosphorus. Having it in your multivitamin could actually raise phosphorus levels too high. This is problematic because high phosphorous can prevent the conversion of vitamin D to its active form, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, in the kidneys. Since this form is the most powerful form of vitamin D and provides the majority of benefits, poor conversion can have negative consequences on skeletal health and vitamin D's other key benefits, such as better muscle strength and higher testosterone levels.* CONNECT WITH ME FACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/JimStoppaniPhD/ INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/jimstoppani/ TWITTER https://twitter.com/JimStoppani

For more info: https://draxe.com/zinc-deficiency/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Feb-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=zincdeficient Today I’m going to share with you the five warning signs that you’re zinc deficient. About 75% of people in the world are deficient, so being deficient in zinc is very common. The 5 warning signs you’re zinc deficient: 1.) If you get sick a lot or have immune system issues 2.) Have leaky gut (http://draxe.com/7-signs-symptoms-you-have-leaky-gut/) 3.) If you struggle with diarrhea or IBS 4.) Thinning hair 5.) Inflammatory skin issues like acne, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis One of the biggest factors in causing zinc deficiency is high levels of emotional stress. The second most common cause of zinc deficiency is over-exercise. The third most common reason your zinc deficient is if you’re pregnant or breast feeding. Lastly, if you’re older, you may tend to have malabsorption, which causes a zinc deficiency. In order to get more zinc in your diet, you need to consume more zinc-rich foods. The top 5 zinc-rich foods are pumpkin seeds, oysters, grass-fed beef, sprouted nuts and seeds, and peas. Additionally, probiotics are a key supplement to take when zinc deficient because it can help your overall absorption of nutrients. For more information on zinc deficiency, you can check out this article: http://draxe.com/zinc-deficiency/ *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. http://preventdisease.com/news/12/083012_The-Most-Powerful-B-Vitamin-That-Combats-Infections-Better-Than-Antibiotics-Ever-Could.shtml The Most Potent B Vitamin That Combats Infections Better Than Antibiotics Ever Could The Nicotinamide form of vitamin B3 is one of the most potent of blood B vitamins, absorbing four times more into the blood than any other vitamin. Cedars-Sinai researchers have discovered that the vitamin has the potential to provide a powerful weapon to fight superbugs and antibiotic-resistant staph infections that health experts see as a threat to public health. B3 is one of 8 B vitamins. It is also known as niacin (nicotinic acid) and has 2 other forms, niacinamide (nicotinamide) and inositol hexanicotinate, which have different effects from niacin. Foods high in Nicotinamide (or Vitamin B3) include Brewer's Yeast, Sunflower Seeds, Raw Peanuts and Beets. Interestingly Beet Juice & Yeast have been shown to have remarkable cancer killing attributes. Possibly due to the sugars in the beets causing a beneficial form of fermentation to occur with the B vitamins in the Brewer's Yeast. The research, published in the September 2012 edition of The Journal of Clinical Investigation, found that high doses of the nicotinamide form of vitamin B3 stimulated a specific gene (CEBPE), enhancing white blood cells’ ability to combat staph infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA. “It’s critical that we find novel antimicrobial approaches to treat infection and not rely so heavily on antibiotics,” said George Liu, MD, PhD, a pediatric infectious disease physician at Cedars-Sinai’s Maxine Dunitz Children’s Health Center and co-senior author of the study. “That’s why this discovery is so exciting. Our research indicates this common vitamin is potentially effective in fighting off and protecting against one of today’s most concerning public health threats.” Most staph infections today are caused by antibiotic resistant Staph aureus. The infections can cause serious, sometimes life-threatening illness. The indiscriminate use of antibiotics by doctors has only led to a rapid rise and threatening spread of these resistant germs. In laboratory tests with mice and human blood, Cedars-Sinai scientists found that vitamin B3 increased by up to 1,000 fold the ability of the immune system to kill staph bacteria. A feat impossible via standard antibiotics. Beyond its findings related to vitamin B3, the study indicates that similar targeting of the CEBPE gene with other compounds may offer a new immune-boosting strategy to fight bacterial infections. Kyme and Thoennissen turned to vitamin B3, which has been shown to increase the expression of some other genes in the CEBP family. The results: When studied in human blood, clinical doses of the vitamin appeared to virtually wipe out the staph infection in only a few hours. “There’s more research to be done, but we believe that vitamin B3, and other compounds that are able to increase the activity of this particular gene, have the potential to be effective against other antibiotic-resistant bacteria in addition to strains of staph,” he said. All the B vitamins are water-soluble, meaning that the body does not store them. The body can meet all of its needs for B3 through diet. However, very high doses of B3 are mostly available by prescription, and have already been proven to prevent high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, heart disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, alzheimer's disease and cataracts. Ironically, patients who are prescribed many antibiotics, are also advised to to avoid vitamin B3 because it interferes with the absorption of the medication. Vitamin D Therapy for Diabetes ````````````````````````````````````````````` The signs of Vitamin D deficiency can range from bone pain and muscle weakness to depression and weakened immune system, while longer-term deficiency can result in obesity, high blood pressure, psoriasis, osteoporosis, chronic fatigue, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes. However, most of the Western countries are deficient in Vitamin D, including many patients with Type 2 diabetes, due to limited sunlight exposure caused by a number of factors, including more time spent at home, in the office or the car, shorter days in winter, sunscreen use in summer and fears of skin cancer. Vitamin D therapy may help in the treatment of diabetes, according to the findings of a new study that was published in the Cell journal. Vitamin D, which is sometimes referred to as the sunshine vitamin, provides various health benefits such as protecting you from colds and flu. However, the latest research shows that vitamin D may also help in the fight against diabetes. Researchers from the Salk Institute wrote in the published study that one of the primary causes in the progression of type 2 diabetes is the dysfunction of beta cells in the pancreas. When these beta cells stop working, the body becomes unable to create insulin to control a person's blood sugar, allowing glucose levels to increase to dangerous levels. However, the scientists discovered that vitamin D therapy is capable of treating the damaged beta cells. Using beta cells that were created from embryonic stem cells, the researchers identified a compound named iBRD9 that worked with vitamin D to help the recovery of the beta cells. In tests on a mouse model of diabetes, the vitamin D therapy brought glucose back to normal levels in the animal subjects. The combination of the compound with vitamin D triggered the anti-inflammatory function of the beta cells' genes, helping them survive. The researchers said that no side effects were observed on the mice that received the compound. However, further testing is required before clinical trials on humans can begin. Vitamin D has previously been linked with diabetes when epidemiologists found that the lack of vitamin D gave healthy people a higher risk for diabetes. Vitamin D, which received its name as the sunshine vitamin because it is created in our skin when exposed to direct sunlight, also helps keep our bones healthy and aids in calcium and phosphorus absorption. As well as assisting glycemic control, increasing your levels of vitamin D can also helps to: Aid weight loss – studies have shown that good vitamin D status helps to reduce parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels, which in the long-term may promote weight loss and reduce risk of obesity, which is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Regulate appetite – vitamin D can increase your body’s levels of the hormone leptin, which controls body fat storage and triggers the sensation of satiety, giving the feeling of having eaten enough and thus lowering hunger levels. Reduce belly fat - an increase in vitamin D can help lower levels of cortisol, a stress hormone produced in the adrenal glands. Cortisol is involved in a number of important functions, including the body's response to stress and regulation of blood pressure. But higher and more prolonged levels of the hormone in the blood can lead to increased abdominal fat, which is linked to various health conditions including diabetes type 2.
