I am not a certified nutritionist or a doctor. I do have, however, 30+ years in the the health and fitness world. For those of you who support the calorie counting theories and various "diets", I am aware of the "science" behind these programs. At the same time I am aware of the people I see every day that have tried them and failed. The "formula" so to speak is of my own making from years of observation and years of dealing with people who have up and down weight issues. The formula is simple age plus activity level plus eating habits equals your body fat percentage. Whereas calorie counters will argue that you find your magical maintenance calorie count, then any calories above add weight and any below subtract it. I have found this not to be the case in real world application. My belief is that within the DNA of every person is a preprogrammed level of body fat for any given combination of eating, activity, and age. Thus when you change one of those variables, your body immediately starts adjusting its body fat count to match what it is preprogrammed to be for that new combination. The transition to this new weight is what we see as weight-loss or weight-gain. When it completes the transition it is what people refer to as "plateau". Now regarding age, you cannot to anything about that. However, you need to be aware it is a factor. As you age, you naturally put on more fat. This is especially true after your twenties. Thus each year, you need to either eat better or be more active to keep the same weight. I often hear people say they eat healthier and exercise more than they used to, but aren't as thin as they were in their twenties. That is exactly right. They are older. The real question is how much heavier they would have been had they not made these changes. The next items are eating habits and exercise. Simply put, if you eat better and exercise more, than you will lose weight (or at least not gain as much as you would otherwise) However, if you become less active and eat worse, you will gain weight. One of the reasons it is important to understand the above is because that affects the way you view dieting. Too many people get on diets to lose x amount of pounds. When they do, the go back to normal. Of course as soon as they do, they start gaining weight. So, if you are not prepared to stay on some calorie counting diet for life, there is no since in starting one. The same is true for exercise. If your aren't planning to continue the exercise program indefinitely, then there is really no use in starting. Although I will discuss in detail in future videos how to lose weight, I will share the best concept with you. Weight loss should be done gradually over time, by slowly changing your eating habits. Giving up soft drinks first. Then months later when you no longer miss them, making another adjustment. That way you are actually changing your habits and not having to starve yourself. Best of all, you will be able to continue what you start. The same is true for exercise. Start off slow by walking or doing something else you like. Their labels should say “100 percent whole grain”, not just “made with whole grains” or “multi- grain”. Eat more fiber and proteins, but less carbohydrates. Proteins will help you feel full for longer, and lessen cravings. Set aside one day a week for a cheat meal. Remember, it’s important not to eat too much. To get the most out of your cheat meal, eat it slowly and try to avoid disturbances while eating. Choose fresh fruit juice, instead of packaged fruit juices, which are full of sugar and preservatives. Use virgin coconut oil in your diet. It is easy to digest, good for your health, and also helps your body break down materials faster. Eat smaller meals, more often. 6. You must undertake diet and exercise changes to please yourself. What's going to give you the burning drive to stick to your weight-loss plan? Make a list of what's important to you to help stay motivated and focused, whether it's an upcoming beach vacation or better overall health. Then find a way to make sure that you can call on your motivational factors during moments of temptation. Perhaps you want to post an encouraging note to yourself on the pantry door, for instance. 3. Set realistic goals It may seem obvious to set realistic weight-loss goals. But do you really know what's realistic? Over the long term, it's best to aim for losing 1 to 2 pounds (0.5 to 1 kilogram) a week. Generally to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week, you need to burn 500 to 1,000 calories more than you consume each day, through a lower calorie diet and regular physical activity. Depending on your weight, 5 percent of your current weight may be a realistic goal. Even this level of weight loss can help lower your risk for chronic health problems, such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes. If you're 180 pounds (82 kilograms), that's 9 pounds (4 kilograms). When you're setting goals, think about both process and outcome goals. "Walk every day for 30 minutes" is an example of a process goal. "Lose 10 pounds" is an example of an outcome goal. It isn't essential that you have an outcome goal, but you should set process goals because changing your habits is a key to weight loss. 4. Enjoy healthier foods Adopting a new eating style that promotes weight loss must include lowering your total calorie intake. But decreasing calories need not mean giving up taste, satisfaction or even ease of meal preparation. One way you can lower your calorie intake is by eating more plant-based foods — fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Strive for variety to help you achieve your goals without giving up taste or nutrition. 5. Get active, stay active While you can lose weight without exercise, regular physical activity plus calorie restriction can help give you the weight-loss edge. Exercise can help burn off the excess calories you can't cut through diet alone. Exercise also offers numerous health benefits, including boosting your mood, strengthening your cardiovascular system and reducing your blood pressure. Exercise can also help in maintaining weight loss. Studies show that people who maintain their weight loss over the long term get regular physical activity. Any extra movement helps burn calories. Think about ways you can increase your physical activity throughout the day if you can't fit in formal exercise on a given day. For example, make several trips up and down stairs instead of using the elevator, or park at the far end of the lot when shopping. 6. Change your perspective It's not enough to eat healthy foods and exercise for only a few weeks or even months if you want long-term, successful weight loss. These habits must become a way of life. Lifestyle changes start with taking an honest look at your eating patterns and daily routine. You likely will have an occasional setback. But instead of giving up entirely after a setback, simply start fresh the next day. Remember that you're planning to change your life. It won't happen all at once. Spread them out about three hours apart. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and possibly another snack if you're hungry before bedtime. When eating around your workout, I definitely wouldn't eat prior to going to work out. I would space it at least, if you're going to eat before you work out, at least an hour before you work out. That way you give your body enough time to digest it, otherwise you might end up with a completely full stomach and a big stomachache while you're trying to get things accomplished. Afterwards, I would definitely eat within half an hour to 45 minutes after you work out, because your muscles are broken down, you've just destroyed them at the gym and you want to repair them with protein and the nutrients that it's looking for. So the best time to do that is a half an hour to 45 minutes after you're done working out. You don't want to cut out all of the foods that you love, because to me, I feel like if you deprive yourself of certain foods, you're going to end up craving them so much that you might end up bingeing in the end. So you want to reward yourself every now and them with a little cheat here and there, but don't call it a cheat; call it a reward meal, because it will make yourself psychologically feel like you're not doing something bad. You're actually rewarding yourself for being good. So, breakfast, for example, oatmeal. Some egg whites. You could do Greek yogurt with some fruit. Grapefruit. Pears, apples, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, they're all great fruits to have. You want to throw in some fiber, some granola. Snacks, you can have almonds, apples. Lunch, you want to have some kind of protein, some greens, a snack, and then a healthy dinner with another protein, greens, maybe a carbohydrate. Sweet potato, brown rice, same thing for lunch, and then a small snack before you go to bed. I would definitely space it out that way. By the end of the day, you're not starving. You've spread it out so that your metabolism is always burning through the food that you're eating, so it's not like you're eating too much food where you're not going to lose weight. You need to keep the furnace going. If you stop eating, a lot of women think that, "If I don't eat anything, oh my God I'm going to lose weight, and I can't eat this and that," when you're actually slowing down your metabolism, because your body is not getting enough nutrients. It actually starts to go into starvation mode when it thinks it's not getting enough food. So that being said, it's going to store the fat, and it's not going to burn through what you want to burn through, and you're going to end up doing the opposite of what you want to do. So you want to keep that furnace going throughout the day, and then at the end of the day you won't be starving, whereas you'll go home and binge. You'll be just fine to go home and have a dinner and then a small snack before you go to bed.

Main concepts behind this weight loss plan is Plants and animals take nourishment from soil and give you that nourishment when you consume them without overcooking, over processing and changing their form. We will learn to eat the right food. Lets eat food and not count calories! What to eat? 1. No meal is complete without a hearty serving of cooked and uncooked vegetables. Half your meal should be vegetables. A hearty soup, salad and other cooked vegetables. Get a variety in colour and form from green leafy to underground vegetables like carrots, beets, potatoes, radish, turnips, sweet potato. This will help build a healthy microbiome keeping you in good health. Cook these vegetables till they retain their colour and are just soft. They should be identifiable in your plate. 2. For your fats: Enjoy a fistful of nuts every day. Even peanuts will do. Just see that it is either lightly roasted or as it is. Not deep fried. Eat a piece of dry or fresh coconut everyday. Use cold pressed oils or ‘kachi Ghani’ oil. Keep refined oil only for occasional frying if you desire. 3. For Proteins: Include a protein source which is a lentil, legume or a serving of meat if you want non veg. 4. For carbs: Your portion size matters. Keep this the smallest portion as a side idsh. You are getting lots of carbs from above foods also. Yes you can eat rice in all meals! It doesn't make you fat! 5. You not only have to work on diet a) sleep c)stress b) physical activity. Lapse in these three will lead you to obesity. When you will increase your physical activity you will be then more aware and will chose your food wisely. Note: Drink water at regular intervals even if you are not thirsty. Guidelines 1. Have your three meals properly chewing it well, so you feel satisfied and full. Not stuffed! 2. Stick to your local cuisine for your everyday meals. Things to avoid 1. Avoid anything made from any kind of flour, except your chapatti or roti. 2. No packaged food. Food for health does not come in a box even if its labeled high in fibre, vitamins, minerals or proteins. 3. No sugary food and drinks including cola, sherbets and cocktails 4. No milk and milk products.

For the majority of people I would suggest not using an activity adjustment. Just set to “sedimentary or little to no exercise” even if you engage in some form of exercise each day. These setting often misguide people to think they can eat more calories than they should/need to. • Once you have your daily maintenance calorie amount from the calculator, subtract 200 calories from it to put yourself in a slight caloric deficit. • Next you need to weigh/measure or track ALL of your food/calories during the day to stay within this calorie amount. (MyFitnessPal) is a great app to use. Try to be as exact as possible and not "eyeball" your food portions. • From here you can monitor your weight and if it’s not slightly dropping each week, subtract an additional 200 calories from your daily total allowance. On the flip side, if you’re losing too much (say 2 lbs or more each week) try adding 200 calories and continue to monitor and adjust accordingly. This is often when many people will start to struggle with the diet, and the weight begins to come back on – and they find they end up with more weight gain then what they started with! ➤ (2) CHANGE YOUR MIND-SET: Rather than trying to go for quick diet fixes think about taking a long term sustainable approach.
