I needed to find a quick, easy and cheap way to remove my Tonneau cover from my truck by myself. I only need to remove it a few times a year so it would only be sitting off of my truck for a few hours. Also I do not have enough room in my garage to back my truck in, to lift it off. I came across this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_pnza_S8MY and thought it would be a good way of removing it without having to build some giant contraption. I noticed in the comments some asked how he did it, but it didn't show that. So I made a quick video of me taking it off and putting it back on. Video is sped up. Takes about 4 minutes to remove and put back on.

Just a quick follow up video of the campershell I made for my 2013 ram. I had to get it done on short notice as I was getting a new truck and it won't fit the new one. My plan for the new truck is to make a flat hard cover that can be removed by one person in under a minute! I have it designed, just need the time to build it.

Here I describe and show how I installed some curtains in my camper shell that I am completely stoked with. Installation takes literally only minutes and this style is effective. I am really happy with the privacy they give me, as well as the security of keeping strangers from looking in at my things.

No Help required to do this project. Remove your pick-up truck camper topper cap by yourself. How to take off your truck cap Easily lifts up with a few simple steps. Step by step. Releasing the sticking topper camper to hoisting it up. I bought my '98 Dodge Ram in 1997 and got the topper put on towards the end of '97. It has been on since then. It has been almost 17 years. I had a hard time popping the sides. The drivers side with steady pressure lifted. I put my back against the top and pushed with my legs. It popped free, but my back feels kind of messed up from pushing so hard. I couldn't get the passenger side and quit. I figured that slow steady pressure would work, so I pulled out the car jack and some wood. This did the trick and I wish I would have done this first as I'd have less stress on my back. DIY Do It Yourself How to Easily Remove Pickup Truck Topper cap lid canopy by YOURSELF! This is an easy job if you have a garage. If you have a few trees close enough you could probably screw some cross boards in to support it as well. This topper had not been removed in 16 years, because I had not needed it off or knew how to. I needed to fit a riding mower in the back, so I needed it off. Hopefully this works for you. DIY Do It Yourself How to remove a pick-up truck cap with one person and simple hardware In this video I go through removing my stuck leer truck topper canopy and how to get it up and off the bed and leave it hoisted in the garage safely, so I can use the truck for hauling. It is a simple enough job for one person. To hang it up in the garage you just need 4 straps and 4 hook securely fastened. I used a jack and some boards to loosen the topper prior to lifting. In all including buying the hooks and straps and lifting total time 2.5 hours, which could possibly have been reduced if I searched youtube to find out how to do this first. If you already have the straps and supplies and your topper is loose it is about a 30 minute job getting the supplies together and hanging it up. Simple and easy and a great way to have it ready to just lower and plop back on and your ready to go. Please make sure you have removed all of your securing brackets before applying any pressure. Watch the windows and molding and work slowly and steadily. If you work too fast you are most likely to get injured or break something resulting in hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of damage.
