What Your Tongue Says About Your Health

03:30
Most of us don't think about our tongues on a daily basis. They’re one of those important body parts that are normally overlooked: until we eat something really hot. Just like other body parts, the tongue can show signs of sickness or trauma to tell us that something isn't right. Being able to recognize the seven signs associated with your tongue can help you know when something is wrong: If your tongue is cracked A crack in the middle of your tongue can develop with age. If you notice any small cracks in your tongue, they’re probably harmless. They can be passed down genetically. However, if the crack is accompanied by swelling of the face or lips, you should consult a doctor. It might be an indication of a rare disease called Melkersson-Rosenthal Syndrome. If your tongue is covered in a thick cheese-like lining A thick, white coating on your tongue is a sign of a fungal infection called oral candidiasis. It’s more common among children and teens, but it can also happen to people who wear dentures, who have a weak immune system, or are taking antibiotics. If one of these applies to you, visit you doctor to figure out how to treat it. If you have wounds on your tongue Your tongue can be wounded due to biting it or due to small ulcers. No one really knows why most ulcers appear, but stress and acidic foods can bring them on and make them worse. If the sores don't disappear within two weeks, make an appointment with your doctor. These sores can also be a sign of oral cancer. If your tongue has wavy edges If the edges of your tongue are wavy, that may mean that your tongue is swollen. Swelling makes it press against your teeth more. That normally happens when something else is wrong with your body, like allergies, a thyroid problem, fever, or dehydration. Go see your doctor to find out what may be causing the swelling. If your tongue is pink and a little bumpy Big news: If your tongue is pink and bumpy, you don't have any reason to worry. The small bumps on your tongue are called papillae. They grab your food and make it easier to eat. They’re where your taste buds are. These taste buds control whether you like or dislike certain foods. They’re what make you taste sweet and sour. If your tongue has white splotches White splotches that appear on the side or underneath your tongue may be a sign of leukoplakia, a reaction to a long term irritation on your tongue. Constant irritation makes the cells from the affected area multiply more than usual, creating a white splotch. It may not always be worrisome, but it may be the starting point for cancer to develop later on. Check with your doctor to make sure it's nothing serious. If your tongue is red and you have a fever If your tongue or your child’s tongue turns a deep shade of red and is accompanied by a high fever, contact your doctor immediately. It may be a sign of scarlet fever – throat infections with a rash – or Kawasaki disease, which affects the blood vessels. Kawasaki disease is an autoimmune, non-contagious disease that is found in children under eight years of age. If your child is experiencing these symptoms, take him to a doctor to make sure that he is treated correctly. Vitamin B12 Deficiency Symptoms || Vegan Nutrition Q&A

05:08
One nutrient that vegans in particular need to supplement is B12, although vegetarians and meat eaters may need to supplement as well. SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/1fNLSVx VEGAN NUTRITION Q&A playlist ▹ bit.ly/vegan-nutrition-tips-playlist VIT B12 SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ib6FqReK5pg Can you get B12 from dirt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQgIhQF8GgU Your body stores an extra supply of it, so it can take up to 2 years for any vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms to creep up on you. You risk permanent damage to your nervous system and brain if you let this one get too far though, so be on the lookout for those symptoms. Early Vitamin B12 Deficiency Symptoms: Unusual fatigue Faulty digestion No appetite Nausea Loss of menstruation Tingling hands and feet (start of serious deficiency) If you don't get levels back up from there, it can result in permanent nerve damage and get very serious, causing blindness or deafness. Also, homocysteine levels will be high (risk factor for heart disease, stroke and complications during pregnancy) long before any of the early vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms show up. If children don't get enough B12 during childhood, their levels can be corrected but the period where they didn't have enough can have permanent effects on their brain and nerve functions. Maintaining your own B12 levels while breastfeeding is crucial. You can be tested for B12 deficiency by your doctor, and the most accurate method of testing is a urine or blood test called a Methylmalonic Acid test (MMA). It can detect deficiency much earlier and much more accurately than the standard blood test most doctors use to test for serum cobalamin levels and pernicious anemia. If you're seeing vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms, or show low levels in a blood test, the obvious solution is to raise B12 levels. Depending on how low your levels are, go for any or all of the following: - supplements (my recommendations here: http://bit.ly/vit-B12) - fortified foods (nut/grain milks, cereals, certain nutritional yeasts) - B12 injections (done by a doctor, for severe deficiency or people who aren't absorbing B12 through digestion) Have you ever noticed any of these symptoms in yourself? Dr. Berg's Plant Based Trace Minerals: https://shop.drberg.com/dr-bergs-trac... https://drberg.com/body-type-quiz1?ut... For more information about Dr. Berg's program in Alexandria, Virginia, call 703-354-7336. Dr. Berg talks about nails care, hair care tips and skin care. There are various causes due to which people get loss of hair, bitter nails, dry skin. This has to do with a deficiency of trace minerals. Trace minerals are required to make the enzymes work in the body and are needed in very little quantities. Trace minerals are needed by our body for getting proteins (from enzymes) which is essential for nails growth, hair care and skin care. Plant based trace minerals are best for skin, nails and hair treatment. Hair, skin and nails are all composed of collagen, but trace minerals are essential for the conversion of amino acids to collagen. The usual way to check if you have any vitamin deficiency is doing a number of blood tests which can be quite expensive. They reveal if you have insufficient amounts of any nutrient as well as how low you are on them. However, there’s an easier way to discover if you have any vitamin deficiency, and it’s totally free. Your face can tell a lot more than you think. Pay closer attention to it and see if there are any of the following signs that indicate a specific vitamin deficiency. Vitamin D is essential for strong bones, because it helps the body use calcium from the diet. Traditionally, vitamin D deficiency has been associated with rickets, a disease in which the bone tissue doesn't properly mineralize, leading to soft bones and skeletal deformities. What causes vitamin b12 deficiency? Vitamin B12 deficiency can happen if you have certain conditions, such as: Atrophic gastritis, in which your stomach lining has thinned. Pernicious anemia, which makes it hard for your body to absorb vitamin B12. Surgery that removed part of your stomach or small intestine, including weight loss surgery. What vitamin deficiency causes hang nails? It's much, much more likely for hangnails to be caused by damaged skin - whether that's caused by dryness, chemicals, biting, picking or whatever else. However, some vitamin and mineral deficiencies can make your nail beds more brittle and cause more frequent hangnails. Particularly vitamin C, folic acid and/or zinc. What is vitamin D and what does it do? Your body must have vitamin D to absorb calcium and promote bone growth. Too little vitamin D results in soft bones in children (rickets) and fragile, misshapen bones in adults (osteomalacia). You also need vitamin D for other important body functions. What vitamin deficiency causes chapped lips? Perleche, or angular cheilitis, can cause chapping and cracking in the corners of the lips, with an underlying fungal or bacterial infection. This is caused by vitamin deficiencies such as iron, zinc or riboflavin (B-2), which leave the body ripe for infection. Can you get headaches from b12 deficiency? Symptoms due to anaemia. These are caused by the reduced amount of oxygen in the body. Common symptoms include tiredness, lethargy, feeling faint, becoming breathless. Less common symptoms include headaches, a 'thumping heart' (palpitations), altered taste, loss of appetite, and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). What vitamin deficiency causes dry scalp? Vitamin B. Dry scalp may be caused by nutritional deficiencies, such as not getting enough vitamins B6 and B12 in your diet. Boost your intake through fruits, vegetables, and whole-grain breads and cereals and, if necessary, through supplements such as flaxseed oil, zinc, and selenium. Other Diet Dos. Which vitamin deficiency leads to hair loss? A blood test can determine whether or not you're truly deficient in vitamin B12. Biotin and Other B Vitamins: Biotin and many other B-complex vitamins also contribute to healthy hair. A B-complex supplement can guard against vitamin B deficiencies that may cause excessive hair loss in women. Are dry lips a sign of dehydration? Dry lips can also be caused by dehydration or malnutrition. Dehydration causes symptoms such as lightheadedness, constipation, decreased urine production, dry mouth, and headache. In severe cases, a person suffering from dehydration may experience low blood pressure, fever, rapid breathing, or a rapid heartbeat. What is the cause of dry scalp? This symptom, commonly known as dandruff, can be due to a variety of conditions, from a simple dry scalp to a form of eczema or even psoriasis. Dandruff flakes are actually dead skin cells that naturally fall off the scalp — more so if you scratch. ... 😍😍😍😍😍 Like, Share and Subscribe Our Channel if you think these video is informative and helpful. how to get rid of canker sores on tongue (canker sores in mouth treatment)

06:26
Click here for canker sore treatment: https://amzn.to/2PNkCtB Here in this video i talk about how to get rid of canker sores overnight. Canker sores on your tongue also called aphthous ulcers are caused by numerous different factors. Tissue injury or biting your tongue is a reason why people get canker sores on their tongue. Vitamin deficiency, a lack of iron, vitamin B-12, lack of folic acid can cause canker sores. Eating acidic foods, salty, and spicy foods, also contribute in getting canker sores on the tongue. So how can we get rid of them? Method 1) The simplest and easiest method is going to always be basic salt and water. Salt helps the tongue sore heal faster because it stops and kills the growth of bacteria. I personally like to put 1 tbsp of salt into 1 cup of water, I will mix it up, and then gargle with it. Method 2) Use ice cubes, this will numb the pain and help speed up the process. Apply only for a short period of time, a few minutes to 5 minutes is plenty of time Method 3) Make sure you brush your teeth after each meal with tongue sores, this will keep your mouth area clean. This will maintain oral health. Method 4) Honey has antifungal properties. It increase wound healing, reduces inflammation, and kills bacteria. Use honey on your sores, this will make a difference. Certain foods and products may increase the pain or swelling you have with your tongue bumps. Avoid spicy and acidic foods or tobacco.

8 Signs Your Body Is Asking for Help

09:12
What happens if your body lacks folate? The National Institutes of Health in the US says it’s important to consume 400 mcg of folic acid every day. This vitamin is crucial for our health as it helps our body make and repair DNA and produce red blood cells. With folate deficiency, you may develop anemia, a condition in which your internal organs can’t get enough oxygen to work properly. Here are 8 common signs that your body needs more folic acid. TIMESTAMPS: Mood and cognitive problems 1:49 Body pains 2:21 Pale skin 3:05 Shortness of breath 3:44 Digestive problems 4:10 Mouth sores and a swollen tongue 4 :45 Reduced sense of taste 5:15 Birth defects 5:50 What can cause a folic acid deficiency 6:55 How to resolve folate deficiency 7:36 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - If your body lacks this vitamin, you might struggle with depression, have trouble concentrating, and feel forgetful and irritable. - In severe cases of anemia caused by folate deficiency, your brain gets less oxygen than is ideal. In response, your brain’s arteries start swelling, and you get a headache. - Hemoglobin, a protein contained in red blood cells, is responsible for transporting oxygen from your lungs to all your body tissues. When your body lacks folate, you don’t have enough red blood cells (and, therefore, hemoglobin) to provide your internal organs with the necessary amount of oxygen. - If you notice that you’re out of breath when doing things you’d normally handle without any issues, this means that your oxygen levels are low because your body lacks red blood cells. - Such gastrointestinal symptoms as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea after meals may be the first signs that your body lacks folic acid. - Mouth sores and a swollen tongue usually occur when the lack of folate is quite severe, so you shouldn’t neglect them. - A deficiency in folic acid may result in trouble tasting food. This happens because your taste receptors, called papillae, can’t send messages to your brain via your nervous system owing to the existing tongue problems. - Pregnant women or women who are planning to get pregnant should take a daily dose of folic acid. If this warning is not taken seriously, neural tube defects or NTDs (birth defects of the brain and spinal cord) may happen to an unborn child while it’s developing inside the mother’s womb. - The easiest way to resolve folate deficiency is through your diet. To keep an adequate folic status, you should eat more dark green vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, and asparagus. As for other foods, it’s better to consume citrus fruits, avocado, beef liver, beans, mushrooms, and whole grains on a regular basis. Aphthous ulcers : Symptoms, Signs, Causes

04:17
Aphthous ulcers : Symptoms, Signs, Causes What are aphthous ulcers? Aphthous ulcers are ulcers that form on the mucous membranes. They are also called aphthae, aphthosis, aphthous stomatitis and canker sores. Aphthous ulcers are typically recurrent round or oval sores or ulcers inside the mouth on areas where the skin is not tightly bound to the underlying bone, such as on the inside of the lips and cheeks or underneath the tongue. They can also affect the genitalia in males and females. Recurrent aphthous ulcers are mostly a minor nuisance, but they are associated with significant health problems in some people. Who is at risk of aphthous ulcers? Anyone can get aphthous ulcers; 20% of the population have them at least occasionally. They usually first appear in childhood or adolescence, and more commonly in females than males. Interestingly, smoking may be protective against aphthae, even though smoking make many oral and skin conditions worse. Non-sexually acquired genital ulceration Non-sexually acquired genital ulceration (NSGU) re fers to aphthous ulcers in genital sites. Images of vulval ulcers Aphthous ulcers in genital sites are also called non-sexually acquired genital ulcers or Lipschutz ulcers. They are more common in females than in males. They may be accompanied by considerable pain and swelling. Reactive genital ulcers follow an infection. NSGU is more likely than simple oral aphthosis to be associated with systemic illness, such as: Behcet syndrome Gluten-sensitive enteropathy (celiac disease) Inflammatory bowel disease Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. What causes aphthous ulcers? The exact reason why aphthous ulcers develop is not yet clearly defined. Approximately 40% of people who get aphthous ulcers have a family history of the same. Current thinking is that the immune system is disturbed by some external factor and reacts abnormally against a protein in mucosal tissue. Factors that seem to trigger outbreaks of ulcers include: Emotional stress and lack of sleep Mechanical trauma, for example self-inflicted bite Nutritional deficiencies, particularly vitamins B, iron, and folic acid Certain foods including chocolate Certain toothpastes Menstrual cycle Certain medications including nicorandil, given for angina Viral infections Other causes of mouth ulcers should be considered, including herpes simplex or infection with Vincents organisms, herpangina, recurrent erythema multiforme, and fixed drug eruption. What are the signs and symptoms of aphthous ulcers? Recurrent aphthous ulcers usually begin as a round yellowish elevated spot surrounded by a red halo. This then breaks down into a punched-out ulcer, which is covered with a loosely attached white, yellow or greyish membrane. Surrounding tissue is healthy and unaffected. Sometimes these ulcers can be painful, particularly if they are irritated by movement or from eating certain types of food. People may experience a single ulcer or multiple ulcers. Multiple ulcers tend to be widely distributed throughout a person's mouth. There are basically 3 types of aphthous ulcers: Recurrent minor aphthous ulcers, which occur in up to 80% of aphthous ulcer cases. They are usually less than 5mm in diameter and heal within 1-2 weeks. Major aphthous ulcers, which are large ulcers (more than 10mm) that take weeks or months to heal and do so with scarring. Herpetiform ulcers, which are multiple pinpoint ulcers that heal within a month. These are most commonly on the tongue. What tests should be done in aphthous ulceration? Most people affected by occasional minor aphthous ulceration do not require tests. They are undertaken if there are recurrent attacks of multiple or severe oral ulcers, or complex aphthosis. Blood tests may include: Blood count, iron, B12 and folate studies Gluten antibody tests for celiac disease Faecal calprotectin test for Crohn disease Swabs for microbiology evaluate the presence of Candida albicans, Herpes simplex virus and Vincent's organisms. What is the treatment for aphthous ulcers? There is no cure for aphthous ulcers. Most recurrent minor aphthous ulcers heal within 1-2 weeks without any treatment. The main goal of treatment is to lessen the pain and discomfort, and promote healing. General measures Protective pastes that form a barrier over the ulcer so that exposure to irritating substances is reduced. Superficial tissue cauterization using silver nitrate stick Local anaesthetics benzocaine and lignocaine (lidocaine) to reduce pain Medicated toothpaste without sodium laureth sulfate Antibacterial mouthwashes to reduce secondary infection. Avoidance of foods that trigger or exacerbate the ulcers. Dietary supplements of vitamins or minerals, if diet is deficient. Reduction in stress Prescribed medicines for aphthous ulceration Topical prescription medicines include:
5 reasons why people get canker sores

03:31
Canker sores can happen to anyone, at any age. Although simple canker sores are mostly common in the age group of 10 to 20, complex canker sores can happen at any age. Complex canker sores are rare but people with a history of simple canker sores are prone to them. Scientifically, there is still an open and unsettled debate as to what precisely causes canker sores. Unlike most other dental or oral problems, canker sores do not have a surefire specific cause. There are many arguments and speculations. While there can be some rare factors for an individual, these five reasons are the most common and widespread causes of canker sores among all and sundry. 1. Vitamin deficiency 2. Nutritional deficiency 3. Stress/injury 4. Fruits and vegetables 5. Poor immune system New videos everyday! 7 Things Your Tongue Could Reveal About Your Health

03:34
7 Things Your Tongue Could Reveal About Your Health Your tongue is an incredible organ; helps us talk, taste, and surprisingly can even give us insight into our overall health. When you look at your tongue in the morning, it is not uncommon to see growth in your taste buds, remnants of yesterday's food, or even a strange green color, this is completely normal. But, by taking a look at your tongue each morning, you can get a glimpse of the overall health of your body. These seven tips will help you discover more about your body every day and, if you encounter something alarming, you can quickly take steps to rectify the problem. Sore and muscular tongue If your tongue looks cracked, red and similar in appearance to raw meat, this is a sign that you are suffering from a rather severe vitamin deficiency. This type of tongue problem tells you that you are not getting enough vitamin B or folic acid in your diet and as a result, your thyroid is not going to get the nutrients you need that will give your tongue sores. Cracked tongue If you see a stem of cracks right down the center of your tongue it is almost certain that you are allergic to some variety of food. Cracked tongues are also known as "cracked" tongues where there seem to be deep dents inside the tissue that is caused by a reaction to the food you eat on a regular basis. Try cutting some of the foods you eat on the most regular basis and see how your tongue reacts. white spots White patches on the tongue are probably one of the most common things people notice. This can be a matter of poor oral hygiene and the first line of defense is brushing your tongue every morning for a while to see if it finally disappears. If you find that discoloration does not go away, it is likely that you have a yeast infection, also known as thrush. Stripes The streaks on your tongue look alarming and are actually a symptom of a condition in your immune system. These streaks could well indicate that you are suffering from something called oral lichen planus, where the cells of your mouth are attacked by your own immune system. Streams Ridges on the tongue cannot be anything to worry about. Some people have a natural tendency to bite their tongue without realizing it, which means that the teeth create bleeding that can last quite a while. If this is the case, it is important that you take special care of the dents on your tongue because over time food can become trapped and cause infections. Bump and Bulk If it seems that your taste buds are particularly large, chances are that nothing to worry about. Sometimes, the taste buds, especially on the back of the tongue, can become enlarged or inflamed. This is especially common if you eat something spicy or if you consume a lot of sweets in a short period of time. Hairy Well, so your tongue will not really be hairy, but, in many cases, it may seem like it's turning black and hairy. It seems very scary and unpleasant, and although it is not pleasant to see it, it is relatively harmless. The condition can be caused by a yeast infection, as with white patches, poor oral hygiene, or diabetes. In fact, some cancer treatments have been known to cause this problem. Aphthous Mouth Ulcers - Dr Kirthi Vidyasagar

04:36
Aphthous Mouth Ulcers Introduction Mouth ulcers known as Apthous mouth ulcers usually affect the loosely attached soft lining tissues of the oral cavity such as the soft palate, the cheeks, the tongue, under the tongue and part of the gums adjoining the teeth. Now, they can occur in any age but are more commonly seen first in childhood or adolescence. They are more predominantly seen in women. Most of the time it is a benign condition and does not have any significant impact on general health other than causing discomfort from the pain. On rare occasions it may be associated with other systemic illnesses like an inflammatory bowel disease, HIV or Celiac disease. Cause and risk factors There is no known definitive cause for these mouth ulcers. There does, however, exist a positive family history of recurrent ulcers in a large number of affected patients implying a possible genetic contribution. Now, there are many trigger factors that prompt the onset of these ulcers in people who have a tendency to get them such as - emotional stress, injury to the mouth that can occur from dental procedures, while brushing, accidental biting into the cheek or tongue or from a fall. Certain foods like chocolates, some sour and citric fruits or caffeinated drinks, could be nutritional deficiencies like vitamin B12, iron and folic acid, certain toothpastes and mouth rinses or hormonal changes of menstruation can trigger this off. Symptoms and types These aphthous mouth ulcers can be very sore and exposure to spicy or tangy foods and liquids can exacerbate the pain and burning sensation. These ulcers, they appear as punched out lesions with a grey – yellow base surrounded by red inflamed areas. Now, there are three variations to these Aphthous mouth ulcers. You have the recurrent ulcers, which are the most commonly occurring and can varyingly recur from back to back or you can see just a few episodes in a year. They are small, they are less than 5mm and heal in about 1-2 weeks. You have major ulcers, which are large that is they are greater than 10mm in size and can take weeks or months to heal with a scar. The third variety is the Herpetiform ulcers, which are very small and multiple in number resembling the herpes infection and they heal in about 1-2 weeks. Diagnosis and management Usually these mouth ulcers are diagnosed by their clinical appearance and their recurrent pattern and do not require any further investigations. Now, if the ulcers are small, then some general measures can be adopted to manage it. And these measures include - a topical antiseptic and anesthetic oral gels to be applied over the ulcers, avoiding foods and liquids that may irritate the ulcer and instead eat foods that are bland, cold and soft. Your doctor may prescribe a nutritional supplement which may contain vitamin B12, folic acid or iron. Now, it’s important to maintain adequate hydration and nutrition, which may be compromised because of the painful mouth ulcers. You need to rinse the mouth after eating to prevent retention of food in the mouth, which can serve as a source for secondary infection. Worrying signs Now, if your child absolutely refuses food and drink secondary to pain in the ulcers, this can lead towards dehydration, if there is weight loss or decreased urine output then your child definitely requires medical attention. Now, if the ulcers are large, they are prolonged and are not improving with the general measures that we just discussed, then you must see your doctor who might want to investigate further to look for any other associated conditions that may be causing it and will prescribe some anti-inflammatory medications for it. Here are some health conditions that your tongue can help diagnose. White Film, Coating or Spots: This could be a sign of a yeast infection inside your mouth. The patches will remind you of cottage cheese and are more common in those with compromised or lowered immune systems. Red Tongue: A red tongue (as opposed to the normal pink color) can indicate a vitamin deficiency such as B12. Red & Bumpy: This could be an indication that you have an infection such as scarlet fever. If the tongue symptoms are accompanied by an actual fever, you should see your doctor right away. If the condition is present on a child younger than five, it could be an illness called Kawasaki Disease and you should see a doctor right away. Blackened Appearance and Hairy: This could be a bacterial infection within the papillae of your tongue. Generally, this is caused by poor dental hygiene and is not usually serious. Painful Bumps: There can be a few different causes for this. Burning or biting your tongue can cause it to become bumpy or painful and smoking can contribute to tongue pain as well. Some painful bumps may be canker sores or ulcers of the mouth. All of these conditions are not usually serious and will generally heal on their own. If you have a lump on your tongue that doesn’t go away within two weeks, you should definitely see a doctor, even if you aren’t having pain. Ridges on the Tongue: If you have ridges or scalloped edges you might just be biting down and creating the edge on your tongue. Those who were born with a fissured tongue may also notice ridges. However, this could also be a sign of an autoimmune disease so you should see your doctor. Smooth Surface or Pale Appearance: This might also be a sign of a B12 deficiency or a sign that you need more iron. Swollen Tongue: If your tongue feels as if it has swollen or looks larger than normal, it could be a sign of hypothyroidism, which is when your body doesn’t produce enough of the thyroid hormone. HOME REMEDIES FOR GEOGRAPHIC TONGUE

04:48
There is no cure for geographic tongue. To ease the mild nuisance or irritation, you can try some simple home remedies and lifestyle changes. Also, consult your doctor for proper diagnosis to rule out the possibility of a more serious condition. Aloe Vera The anti-inflammatory and healing properties of aloe vera make it an effective remedy for treating different types of oral problems, including geographic tongue. In addition, it helps get rid of bad breath. • Extract the gel from an aloe vera leaf and apply it on your tongue. Wait 10 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Repeat a few times daily. • Use aloe vera juice to rinse your mouth 2 or 3 times a day. Apple Cider Vinegar If your tongue shows signs of infection or oral thrush, apple cider vinegar is a good treatment option. It helps restore your mouth’s natural pH balance and fight off the infection. Its sour and acidic taste may cause some burning sensation, but soon you will notice improvement in your condition. • Mix 1 tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and ¼ teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. Use it as a mouthwash 2 or 3 times a day. • Stir 1 tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a little raw honey in a glass of water. Sip this solution slowly 1 or 2 times a day. Follow both these remedies until symptoms subside. Oil Pulling This ancient Ayurvedic practice can help treat red patches on your tongue. Oil pulling aids in the removal of toxins from your mouth and body. It also helps maintain good oral health. 1. Put 1 tablespoon of organic, cold-pressed coconut or sesame oil in your mouth. 2. Swish the oil around your mouth for about 10 minutes. 3. Spit out the oil and rinse your mouth with warm water. 4. Brush your teeth as usual. 5. Use this remedy daily in the morning before eating anything Note: Do not swallow the oil. Mint The antibacterial property in mint inhibits the growth of bacteria in the mouth, which prevents many oral problems. In addition, it prevents burning sensations in your tongue and freshens up your breath. • Prepare a strong cup of mint tea, chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and then drink it. Do this a few times daily. • Chew a few fresh mint leaves or mint gum daily. • Use mint-based oral products, such as toothpaste or mouthwash. Zinc Zinc deficiency is also associated with geographic tongue and other oral problems. Hence, taking a zinc supplement or eating more zinc-rich foods may help ease the discomforts. In addition, zinc promotes a proper sense of taste and smell. • Zinc supplements come in several forms: tablets, capsules and lozenges. Consult your doctor for the correct dosage. • You can also increase your zinc intake with foods like red meat, fish, oysters, crab, milk, cheese, beans, lentils, fortified breakfast cereals, nuts, seeds, yogurt, kefir, spinach and other green leafy vegetables. Additional Tips • Rub an ice cube on your tongue for temporary relief. • You can even use an anti-inflammatory steroid topically on your tongue to help reduce the discomfort. • Follow proper oral hygiene by brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing regularly. • Avoid scraping the tongue when suffering from geographic tongue. • Avoid toothpaste that has tartar-control additives, heavy flavoring or whitening agents. • There is a connection between geographic tongue and stress. Try to reduce your stress level. • Develop a routine of detoxification and cleansing, particularly the colon. DO YOU HAVE HALF MOON SHAPE ON YOUR NAILS? THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS

01:50
Look at your fingernails, did you notice a white half-moon shape that starts at your nail beds? In fact, it is a very important part of the nail. That little area is called the “lunula,” Latin for “little moon.” and it’s more than just a built-in design element. It actually says a lot about your health. In traditional Chinese medicine, lunula is viewed as a barometer of one’s health. The condition of the lunula really is an indication of your health. When your health declines, it is manifested in changes to the lunula, or the disappearance of it altogether. And when your health is restored, your lunula returns to its original condition. According to medical experts, having 8 to 10 milky white lunulas on both hands means that everything is alright with your health. Whiter the Lunula, the stronger the health. • The less Lunulae a person has, the lower the energy, overall health and immunity. If you have Lunulae on the thumbs only, you lack physical energy and you may get sick easily. Missing Lunulae • One study has shown that missing fingernail moons are associated with various systemic disorders including issues with your thyroid or pituitary gland, iron deficiency, chronic renal failure, depression and possible B-12 deficiency. Have your iodine and Vitamin B-12 levels checked. Have your thyroid function and blood pressure checked. To sum up, the lunula is considered a sign of how healthy you are. Therefore, any change should be taken seriously and get checked.

Aphthous Mouth Ulcers What are aphthous mouth ulcers? • Apthous ulcers are ulcers that occur in the mouth affecting the loosely attached soft lining tissues of the oral cavity (soft palate, cheeks, tongue, under the tongue and part of the gums adjoining the cheeks) • They can occur at any age but are more commonly seen first in childhood or adolescence • They occur more predominantly in women • Most of the time it is a benign condition and does not have any significant impact on general health other than causing discomfort from the pain • On rare occasions it may be associated with certain systemic illnesses such as inflammatory bowel disease, HIV, Bechet’s disease or Celiac disease Cause and risk factors • There is no known definitive cause for these mouth ulcers • There does however exist a positive family history of recurrent ulcers in a large number of affected patients implying a possible genetic contribution • There are many trigger factors that can prompt the onset of these ulcers in people who have a tendency for them such as: • Emotional stress • Injury in the mouth (from dental procedures, while brushing, accidental biting into the cheek or tongue, from a fall etc.) • Certain foods (chocolates, some sour and citric fruits, caffeinated drinks etc.) • Nutritional deficiencies (vitamin B12, iron and folic acid) • Certain toothpastes and mouth rinses • Hormonal changes of menstruation Symptoms and types • Aphthous mouth ulcers can be very sore and exposure to spicy or tangy foods and liquids can exacerbate the pain and burning sensation • These ulcers are mostly recurrent The ulcers appear as punched out lesions with a grey – yellow base surrounded by red inflamed areas • There are three variations of the Aphthous mouth ulcers: • Recurrent ulcers - which are the most commonly occurring and can varyingly recur back to back after each episode or as infrequent as few times a year. What is CONVULSION? What does CONVULSION mean? CONVULSION meaning, definition & explanation

03:29
What is CONVULSION? What does CONVULSION mean? CONVULSION meaning - CONVULSION pronunciation - CONVULSION definition - CONVULSION explanation - How to pronounce CONVULSION? Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ A convulsion is a medical condition where body muscles contract and relax rapidly and repeatedly, resulting in an uncontrolled shaking of the body. Because epileptic seizure is often a symptom of convulsion, the term convulsion is sometimes used as a synonym for seizure. However, not all epileptic seizures lead to convulsions, and not all convulsions are caused by epileptic seizures. Convulsions are also consistent with an electric shock and improper enriched air scuba diving. For non-epileptic convulsions, see non-epileptic seizures. The word "fit" is sometimes used to mean a convulsion or epileptic seizure. When a person is having a convulsion, they may experience several different symptoms. These may include: a brief blackout, confusion, drooling, loss of bowel/bladder control, sudden shaking of entire body, uncontrollable muscle spasms, temporary cessation of breathing, and many more. Symptoms usually last from a few seconds to around 15 minutes. If someone has a fit like this, it is advised to make sure they don't fall and injure themselves, cushion their head and loosen any restricting clothing/jewelry, and also call for medical help. Do not try to pin/hold them in place, as this could possibly cause harm or injury to the individual. Do not place anything between the person's teeth during a seizure (including your fingers). The most common type of seizure is called a generalized seizure, also known as a generalized convulsion. This is characterized by a loss of consciousness which may lead to the person collapsing. The body stiffens for about a minute and then jerks uncontrollably for the next minute. During this, the patient may fall and injure themselves or bite their tongue and lose control of their bladder. A familial history of this puts a person at a greater risk for developing them. Convulsions are often caused by some sort of electrical activity mishap in the brain. Oftentimes, the cause cannot be pinpointed. Convulsions can be caused by chemicals in the blood, as well as infections like meningitis or encephalitis. A very common cause of convulsions is fevers. Other possibilities include head trauma, stroke or lack of oxygen to the brain. Sometimes the convulsion can be caused by genetic defects or brain tumors. Convulsions can also be caused by any type-1 diabetic, whose blood sugar is too low. Hypoglycemia can cause very bad convulsions until the person's blood sugar is raised to normal level. Convulsions can also be caused by deficiency of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine).

What Causes White Spots On Nails

01:41
Most people wind up with white spots on their nails at one point or another. In many cases these nails apply in one or two spots on the nails and gradually disappear as the nail grows out. In most cases these spots are not serious and do not necessarily require treatment, but if you notice that you are getting spots on your nails frequently then you may need to track down the source to ensure that they are not a sign of something more serious that requires treatment. Causes of White Spots on Nails When you are experiencing white spots on nails, you should take into account many causes which are listed below for you. Injury. In most cases, a white spot on the nails is the sign of a minor injury to the area. Bending the nail, banging it while moving or clipping the nail incorrectly can cause the nail to develop a white spot. Sometimes these spots will show up some time after the injury has occurred which makes it difficult to track what caused them to appear. Infection. White spots can also be a sign that your nail is suffering from an infection such as a fungus, yeast or mold. These types of spots often develop near the cuticle or at the tip of the nail rather than in the middle. As these spots grow out it can cause the nail to flake or split as well. Allergic reaction. Similarly, white spots can be a sign that your nail is suffering from an allergic reaction to a product. If you have recently tried a new nail polish, polish remover or nail hardener and you notice that you are starting to develop an allergy to the product. Vitamin deficiency. You may also be suffering from a vitamin deficiency that can cause white spots to develop on the nails. Women who are suffering from a calcium deficiency tend to develop these kinds of white spots. A deficiency in zinc can also cause spot on the nails. These symptoms are usually coupled with other symptoms such as dry, brittle hair that falls out.
