Soaker hoses are a value addition to a water-wise garden. But I've never been a fan of the way they're made, and especially what they're made from (recycled tire rubber). When WaterRight came out with their version of the soaker hose, I knew I had to take a closer look. They already made my favorite garden hose. Not surprising, this soaker hose is the best out there by far. I talk about why in this video.

Soaker hoses, which let water seep out through tiny holes, are the best way to water your vegetable and flower gardens for a number of reasons. They conserve water by delivering to the plant instead of spraying onto the path or into the air like a sprinkler. They put the water at the roots so the leaves stay dry and you don't spread plant diseases. They soak the ground, encouraging the roots to grow deep. But, soaker hoses always spring big leaks. This allows the water to spray out rather than trickle, washing away the soil. Fortunately, they're really easy to repair and this video will show you how. How to water your foundation, do it yourself. Easy install demo for an irrigation foundation watering & soaker hose system. An ounce of maintenance definitely out weighs a pound of repair. By Advanced Foundation Repair, a Texas foundation specialist for repair, maintenance and SlabTek foundation systems. SCRIPT: Hi I'm Fred Marshall with Advance Foundation Repair and I am here today to talk to you about how to build a foundation watering system for your home. It is easy to do with parts that you can by at the hardware store for less than $50. You are going to need 2 splitters, one roll of Teflon tape, one battery operated timer, and two soaker hoses. You can either use the old rubber variety or the newer flatter cloth ones. The first step is to take the Teflon tape and and wrap the threads on the spigot, timers, and the splitters. Using Teflon tape really cuts down on the chances that you are going to have leaks with your connections. After you put tape on everything, take one of the splitters and attach it to the spigot on the house. Using a splitter makes it possible to run both the soaker hose system and use the spigot for other purposes. Turn one side off and turn the other side on for the soaker hose system. Next take the battery operated timer and screw it on to the spiltter that you just screwed on to the spigot. The next step is to attach the second splitter to the battery operated timer. Using the second splitter will allow you to run two soaker hoses off of the timer at the same time. Remember that water pressure in the soaker hoses is highest nearest to the spigot so you want to keep your soaker hoses short. I suggest less than 50 feet otherwise all of the water is going to come out near the timer and none at the far end. Once you have the second splitter on, take a soaker hose and attach it to each side of the splitter. With the soaker hoses attached, stretch them out on the ground about six inches away from the house. We suggest that you bury them usually about two inches deep. Burying the soaker hoses will cut down on evaporation and runoff if your on a sloping surface. Now with your soaker hoses stretched out and in position, turn the battery operated time on and you are ready to go. One of the goals is to keep the soil underneath your house down to the depth of about 5 feet constant in its water content. So you want to run the soaker hoses more when it is dry. On a really hot, dry summer you may have to run them two hours a day. On the other hand when it is wet and raining, you don't need to run them at all. It is possible to damage your home by putting too much water down so if you are using soaker hoses and you are continuing to get movement, call the experts at Advanced Foundation Repair. Remember be observant, be careful, conserve water and give us a call if you need our help. 214-333-0003.

We created this soaker house watering system in the greenhouse 3 years ago and it still works. Needs minor maintenance as most things do but has stood up very well. Soaker houses cut up to fit the size of the various beds in the greenhouse, attached soaker hoses to a regular drinking safe hose, all spliced up and crimped together. It leaks at some of the joints but a little maintenance can fix that. For collaborations and business inquiries, please contact via Channel Pages: http://ChannelPages.com/GettingThereGreen

Simple way for us to water our blueberries. Our tap water is far to alkaline for blueberries so I fill a 55 gallon barrel full of water and pitch in a gallon of 9% vinegar. This brings our 8.5 - 9.0 pH city water down to around 6.0 pH. I suppose I should add even more to bring the pH down closer to 5.0. Opinions? I just use gravity and a hose to create a siphon from the barrel to the blueberry bed. The barrel is only about a foot higher then the blueberry bed but it seems to be enough. Easy way to get amend 55 gallons of water and soak it in slow.

Thanks for your recent purchase of our Raindrip Drought Buster Kit. This kit helps you convert your pop up spray head to a drip irrigation system, saving up to 70% water compared to a traditional sprinkler system. It converts one sprayhead to 25 feet of water-saving soaker hose. This kit is designed to help water your flowers, shrubs or trees and shouldn’t be used to water your turf areas. The soaker hose is flexible and easy to use making installation of this kit approximately 10 minutes long. Let’s get started! Chapter 1: Kit Contents: 1. Sprinkler riser 2. 25 ft 1/2” soaker hose 3. Street Elbow 4. 3-way adapter 5. 8” wire stakes Chapter 2: Getting Started Before beginning installation, make sure you do the following: 1. Ensure your sprinkler system is turned off or not scheduled to turn on during the installation of your droughtbuster kit. 2. Choose the spray head you want to replace. For the most effective watering, we recommend you select a centrally located spray head to maximize the amount of plants you can water. You are now ready to begin installation. Chapter 3: Install • First, clear the dirt around the spray head you want to replace. • Once the area is clear, unscrew the spray head and body. • We recommend installing the riser before you flush the system. • You may need to cut the riser to the desired height • The top of the sprinkler riser should be tall enough to leave room for the install to be close to or just above grade. • For the best results and to prevent clogging, flush out your system to remove any debris that might be stuck in the pipes. Simply turn your sprinkler system on until you see a bubble of water clearing out the lines. • Once the riser is installed, it’s time to attach the elbow. • First, unscrew the elbow from the soaker hose and set the hose aside. • Next, thread the elbow onto the top of the riser, ensuring it is on tightly. • Then, thread the tubing back onto the hose and move the elbow to the direction of the area you want to water with the soaker hose. Simply lay out the soaker hose around your flowers, shrubs and trees and stake down to hold in place. • The advantage of soaker hose watering is that it allows for higher flow rates, putting more water to your plants. • Finally, cover the area around the riser with the displaced dirt. • You can use the surrounding mulch or dirt to cover up the soaker hose • Once the soaker hose is laid out, it is now time to turn on your system. So that’s all there is to it; if you have any additional questions, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help you out with any additional questions you may have. Repeat this step for all ports. • Use a coin or similar sized, rounded object to turn the blue knobs to the desired flow rate. This drip manifold is adjustable with flow rates from zero to 30 gallons per hour. The flow rate you need will depend on the size of the plant, soil, amount of sunlight exposure and run time of your system. • Click here to view a general guideline on flow rates for different applications. • If you will not be using some of the ports, turn the blue button in a clockwise direction to turn the port off. • Then, cover the area around the riser with the displaced dirt. • You can use the surrounding mulch or dirt to cover up the soaker hose • Once the soaker hose is laid out, it is now time to turn on your system.
