12 Most Affordable Ways to Reduce the Cost of Building a New House on a Budget

03:31
This video brings to you 12 Most Affordable Ways to Reduce the Cost of Building a New House on a Budget. Some of the most Affordable Ways to Reduce the Cost of Building a New House on a Budget include: 1. Find a Good Architect Allow me to draw the following analogy before I start; Most of us when we are sick, we visit the best doctor, or when we have a court case, we hire the best lawyer. But when it comes to building our dream house on the contrary we go for the cheap. A good architect will give you; • A Good Design – A good design builds a good house. • Efficient floor plan- Optimal room sizes without space wastage • Sustainable Design – Low running costs during occupancy • Good Finishes - Finishes carry the biggest cost of the house 2. Keep the Design Simple Most times in design, Less is always More. Keep the design simple but not simplistic. Too much zig and zag means more costs. Take off what you do not need and leave the essentials without compromising. A simple design entails: • Floor Plan – Square/Rectangular plans are cheaper to build than circular plans • Open plan living – Means less walling, more daylighting and sociable living environment. • Space Utilization – Use some spaces for multiple functions such as; Dining Cum Study • Roof Design- Complex roof design means more roofing materials leading to more costs. 3. Hire The Right Builder/Contractor This is the BIGGEST and most IMPORTANT decision for anyone planning to build their dream house. Hire a builder/contractor that will listen to you. This means he will build a house you want and not what he thinks you want. A good builder will guarantee you: • Minor Variations- A home build on Budget • No time overruns- A home build within the contract period • Good Workmanship- A home build without shortcuts • Experienced – Good connections with subcontractors 4. Bid out Your Cost Have quotations / bids from potential builders and compare their quotes. Remember cheaper is not necessarily the best. A good quote will tell you something about your potential builder; • A low Quote- Could mean Poor workmanship resulting future expensive repairs and maintenance • Optimal Quote- Could mean a builders discount and good connections with suppliers • A High Quote- Could mean too many subcontractors involved or building materials are subpar 6. Shop for Fixtures and Fittings Yourself The choice of house fittings is as subjective as the house owner. Therefore it makes economic sense for you to buy most of them yourself. Keep an eye for annual sale or discount at your local hardware. These may include: • Floor and Wall Tiles- Colours and Designs • Toilets , Wash Hand Basins, Kitchen Sinks • Inbuilt Ovens and Cooker • Kitchen and Dhobi/Laundry sinks • Flat Pack Kitchen Cabinets and Wardrobes 7. Smart material choices The choice of materials from the outset is key to managing costs of your building materials. The choices vary from: • Buying your materials yourself- Use Coupons, discounts or annual sale • Salvaging used materials- Recycled materials and Second hand fixtures • Choose a Forgiving Aesthetic- Low cost and Low maintenance 7. Small is Smarter. Keep it small. Just how much space for you need for your new house. For good Green credentials, building small is always better. • Scale Down- Get rid of stuff/space you do not need. • Climate- Design for the regional climate. Do you need a Basement/Garage in the tropics? • Space Utilization – Use some spaces for multiple functions such as; Dining Cum Study 8. Choose Your Friends Avoid peer pressure when building your house. Most people would be tempted to build what a friend has built, or Insist on the Architect designing for them a house like their friends. Since design is subjective, go with your gut feeling and pick what fits tour taste and preference as opposed to copy and paste. Unless your friends are contributing to your mortgage payment or construction loan, don’t fall to peer-pressure just because you want to feel like you fit-in. 9. Buy Stock Plans If you can’t afford an architect, architect designed stock plans like sheltermode.com offer an alternative affordable option. Most stock plans go for a fraction of the cost of professional fees and can be amended on site to suite the client’s needs with marginal costs. Don’t fall prey to plan books and articles in your local store or street vendor. Most of these books are outdated and lack any serious professional input in design and specific. What Are The Types of Foundation Cracks?

01:56
Is the crack in your foundation cause for concern? Learn which types of cracks need to be watched and which require immediate attention. Transcript: Hi, my name is Bart Schneider, and I'm a project manager for United Structural Systems. We often get asked by homeowners about the different types of cracks that we see. Here are some of the different cracks we see and what they mean. Hairline cracks are usually not something to be concerned about. However, they should be monitored closely for changes. If you see any changes, or if they grow larger over time, you should consult a professional and have them evaluate it. Concrete floors in your basement or garage may from time to time develop small hairline cracks. Because they floors are not the actual foundation of your home, there's typically little reason to be concerned. If, however, you do see cracks in the block or brick in these areas, it may be an indication of a larger problem. Stair-step cracks through the mortar joints or through the brick itself may be a bigger cause for concern. Especially if the wall is bulging or if the cracks are greater than a quarter of an inch. Look for separation around windows and doors. If the brick is pulling away from the window frame, that's a sure sign of foundation movement. Stair-step cracks are considered the classic sign of settlement. If you notice stair-step cracks in your brick or block, consult with a professional right away. Vertical cracks are common in both new construction as well as older homes. While vertical cracks seldom denote a true structural problem, they can allow water to enter your home. Horizontal cracks in your basement wall are potentially the most serious of all. Hydrostatic pressure is at work here, causing the walls to bow inward. If you notice horizontal cracks in your basement wall, you should contact a foundation repair contractor immediately to evaluate the integrity of your home. We're happy to talk with you to answer any questions you may have about foundation repair. If you're concerned about cracks in the brick of block of your home, call USS for a free estimate. We guarantee our best, call USS.

Build a home in 8 weeks with Precast Concrete Homes.

05:33
http://www.precastconcretehomes.com.au This video shows the construction method used by Precast Concrete Homes. It demonstrates the efficiency of building with precast concrete panels and how a typical 4 bedroom home can be completed in 8 weeks. Compared to brick veneer this is up to 16 weeks faster meaning owners get into their homes faster and builders can complete more projects each year. The concrete walls provides better thermal and acoustic insulation also while being extremely strong. They are extremely resistant to cyclones, floods, earthquakes and ground movements. They are a great choice for bushfire prone areas as they exceed the Australian Bushfire Standard (AS3959) for the highest “Flame Zone” category. http://precastconcretehomes.com.au/advantages/ Precast Concrete Homes panels can be adapted to any plan. http://precastconcretehomes.com.au/gallery/ Whether you are a builder, owner/builder or an owner looking to build, contact us today to discuss the many advantages of using Precast Concrete Homes. http://precastconcretehomes.com.au/builders/ http://precastconcretehomes.com.au/contact-us/

Real Reason NASA Hasn't Sent Humans To Mars

05:24
We could have been on Mars 30 years ago. At the peak of the Apollo era in the early '70s, NASA was already planning its next step into the unknown. Its plans included building multiple space stations, continued trips to the Moon, and the first crewed mission to Mars by the 1980s. Can you imagine watching astronauts walk on Mars the same time the walkmen came out? But NASA never sent humans to Mars in the '80s. And here we are 30 years later, still dreaming of the possibility. But the reason isn't necessarily a matter of technology or innovation. It actually comes down to politics. As a government agency, NASA's goals are determined by the Executive Branch. Since its inception, NASA has served under 12 presidents. And it was clear near the start that not every president would support NASA equally. By the end of Nixon's administration in 1974, NASA's budget had plummeted from 4% of the federal budget to less than 1%. Fully-funded Apollo missions 18 and 19 were abandoned along with Apollo 20. At the same time, Nixon pulled NASA's focus away from the Moon and Mars and instead toward low-Earth orbit. His parting gift was to sign into effect what would eventually become NASA's Space Shuttle program. Peter Diamandis: "So what's happened throughout all of space history after the Apollo program was over was to start, stop, start, stop, cancel. President comes in like Bush comes in to go to the Moon, back to Mars and next president comes in and cancels that. The agency is unable to sustain consistent funding to do anything." It wasn't until the Space Shuttle Program was nearing retirement that a crewed mission to Mars was finally considered and funded by a US president. George W. Bush, in 2004, announced: "We will give NASA new focus and vision for future exploration. We will build new ships to carry man forward into the universe to gain a new foothold on the Moon." As a result, NASA's Constellation Program was born. Never heard of it? That's because it was canceled a few years later. It aimed to send a crewed mission to the Moon in 2020 and land the first humans on Mars by the 2030s. By the time Obama was sworn in, the Constellation Program was behind schedule and over budget. One year later, Obama canceled 100% of the program's funding. "All that has to change. And with the strategy, I'm outlining today it will." -Barack Obama in 2010. Obama shifted NASA's focus from sending people to the Moon and Mars to, ultimately, just Mars. In the process, he asked Congress to increase NASA's budget by $6 billion over the next 5 years. As a result, NASA launched its "Journey to Mars" initiative in 2010, with the goal to send humans into orbit around Mars by the early 2030s. And, until recently, NASA was on track, more or less. Then, this happened. “President Trump has launched the National Space Council and at the council’s inaugural meeting in October, we unanimously approved a recommendation to instruct NASA to return American astronauts to the moon and from there to lay a foundation for a mission to Mars.” -Mike Pence in 2017 Oddly enough, the space policy under Trump and Obama look nearly identical, save for 63 words. In those 63 words, Trump's administration has shifted the focus once again to a Moon-first, Mars-later initiative.  NASA isn't new to this. It's learned to recycle old projects to fit new missions. For instance, the Orion capsule was first developed for Constellation and has since been redesigned for the Journey to Mars. But even that can't prevent the inevitable changes NASA programs now face under the new president. "We're also going to realign the organizational structure to best meet this new exploration focus. I've asked Stephen Jurczyk the current head of space exploration to lead and effort to design a new organizational approach." -Robert M. Lightfoot, Jr. in 2018 As NASA pushes on, a new possibility has grown on the horizon. Privately-owned space companies like SpaceX also has its sights set on the red planet. Diamandis: "The scientists and engineers at NASA are amazing and they've done extraordinary things. But they're risk aversion...That doesn't allow us to do new and novel things that are on the edge. Doing anything big and bold in space is hard and it's risky. So, it's entrepreneurs taking the risks these days, willing to put everything on the line." The race for Mars is on. While NASA has closely partnered with SpaceX and other privately-owned space companies in recent years, ultimately, NASA may not be the ones who write the next chapter in human space exploration. What you learn will disturb you. It will enlighten you. But be prepared- this information will be shocking and true. Knowledge is power: This means by knowing of these nefarious plans, we can avert them! This is the event you absolutely do not want to miss! You will learn: How the false alien threat has already been hoaxed- and how this has been accomplished. Names will be named: You will learn how the deep national security state and covert military operations have staged false Alien Abductions, Mutilations- and what technologies have been used. What technologies have been developed since the 1940s that enable para-military Unacknowledged Special Access Projects (USAPs) to affect consciousness, stage false Alien events and plant the seeds of fear to justify a scripted Armageddon ! How man-made UFOs, hollywood-style staging and very advanced electronic warfare systems enable USAPs to stage abductions, mutilations and other false-flag events - and how these have conditioned and prepared the world through the fear of Aliens for the coming hoax of an official Alien Threat. New Official Air Force whistle-blower testimony confirms the false flag plan and the intent to achieve it! The emergence by 1956 of advanced electronic warfare technologies that affect consciousness- and how these pscho-tronics can give the target (victim) ANY experience that is scripted.
