The first vitamin that is needed is the B-vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, etc.). Minerals are also needed as in potassium (4700 mg), magnesium and sodium - these electrolytes are need to prevent deficiencies. You also need D3, omega 3 and even trace minerals. This provides you the key nutrients to make this transition from glucose to fat burning efficiently. Hi guys, I recently have a question what multivitamins and minerals do I need in a ketogenic diet. Well, the first thing you need to do and a lot of people will use vitamins because they don’t want to consume the amount of vegetables that they really need. You really need to do that because we want to get as many vitamins and minerals from the vegetables as possible, 7 to 10 cups. Not just for the vitamins and minerals but to flush out the fat, we need that greens and healthy vegetables. However, when you are switching from sugar burning to fat burning, when you are adopting, you need more of certain nutrients and you definitely need more B vitamins, vitamin B6, B5, B1 and B12. I recommend getting this in the nutritional yeast, you can get it in powder. I have nutritional yeast in tablet form to make it easier to consume and this is a non-fortified. When you consume nutritional yeast, you don’t want to fortify or enrich it with synthetic vitamins but I also added some natural B12. You also need minerals specifically potassium, magnesium and sodium. When you are in a low carb diet you need more salt, consume about 1teaspoon of salt. If you are in a high carbohydrate diet only have a quarter teaspoon of salt. We do need a lot of potassium and a good amount of magnesium. I use electrolyte powder because it has a thousand mg of potassium citrate, good amount of magnesium and has a little bit of sodium. You may need to enhance sodium because this is not have a lot of sodium but this is cool because it doesn’t have a lot of maltodextrin, it doesn’t have the sugar and it has the trace minerals on it as well. You also need vitamin D3, you can get this on sunlight or fish oils, in that way you can kill two birds in one stone and you can get you omega 3. If you can get high quality cod liver oil, you can get D3 and Omega 3. And you have trace minerals which are those minerals are needed in much smaller amounts, and it is hard to find that in the diet and it can really help you. An example would be chromium, iodine, selenium. Again, the goal is to get as much of the vitamins and minerals from the food but I also recommend enhancing it with B vitamins, minerals, D3, Omega 3 and trace minerals. The first one I am going to recommend is minerals. You want to potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium those were electrolytes, and then trace minerals. Because minerals helps reduce insulin resistance and it puts you into fat burning a lot better. Plus, these minerals are alkaline which offset some of the uric acid buildup that comes from the ketogenic diet to lessen the chance to get a gout or the uric acid kidney stones. Number 2 vitamin B1, this is essential in the adaptation of sugar burning into fat burning, and it is also great to relieve stress. Vitamin B3 is really good for lowering cholesterol that is coming out of the fat cells or liver and it is also good to support the liver in general. Vitamin B5 is another key B vitamin that is essential in the adaptation to fat burning. If you are deficient in B5 and B1, you may notice more fatigue, keto flu and keto rash, any of those symptoms. Number 5, vitamin A which is also essential in dealing with insulin resistance and you would get vitamin A in cod liver oil, grass-fed cheese, grass-fed liver and egg yolks. No. 6 vitamin D and I recommend vitamin D3 version, this is really good for insulin resistance and improving that. It is also in cod liver oil, egg yolk. In fact if you consume cod liver oil, you get a 50/50 split of vitamin A and vitamin D so you could kill 2 birds at 1 stone. No. 7 choline which is essential of getting the fat off the liver. I recommend doing electrolyte powder for the minerals. I recommend nutritional yeast for B1, B3, B5 and it even has choline. I have a version that has non-fortified, it is in a tablet form with added B12. You have electrolyte powder, nutritional yeast, and cod liver oil and if you really have fatty liver you could have choline in addition to the choline that is in nutritional yeast to strip off the fat from the liver. In this video, I’ll give you 8 healthy breakfast ideas to start your day to lose weight. Oatmeal (with Fruit): Oats contain a lot of minerals, vitamins, fiber and some proteins. You can create a healthy breakfast by mixing fruit and raw nuts or seeds together. If you suspect you may not have time in the morning for breakfast, then try overnight oats, which can be prepared in a jar the previous night, and then grabbed when going out. Whole Grain Toast: Spread some almond butter on a bread, and add few slices of fruit such as strawberries or bananas to create a hearty breakfast. This shouldn’t take more than a few minutes even if you’re in a hurry. Vegetable Omelet: Nothing like a delicious veggie omelet in the morning. Vegetables are one of the main contributors of healthy carbohydrates, plus the eggs will give you clean protein that will keep you energized the entire day. You can use any combination of vegetables as it appeals to you. Green-Smoothies: If you want just the perfect breakfast for a crazy morning, then the green-smoothie is what you need. You can quickly whip up one serving in a “ to go” blender cup. Start with frozen berries or bananas, add a chunk of spinach or kale leaves, pour in some almond milk thereafter and then in a blender. Green Tea: There are many benefits of taking green tea in the morning. For starters, just like water, it helps in keeping the body hydrated. It also has some weight loss and heart-protective benefits. More still, one study has it that green tea can speed the fat burning rate of the body. Spread peanut butter on slices of apples: Apple contains quercetin that helps in the prevention of certain types of cancer and heart diseases. Peanut butter on the other hand contains fat and protein. Thus, their combination is a good of the day any time. Unsweetened orange juice: Drinking 3 cups of unsweetened orange juice every morning will boost your immune system and improve your cholesterol levels as a result of their vitamin C content. Try a couple of oranges if drinking 3 cups is too much for you. Yogurt Parfait: Forget about all those sugary parfaits from McDonald’s and Starbucks, and start making your own parfait at home. You can begin with simple Greek yogurt, just cut up some of your favorite fruits, add some nuts, cooked quinoa and start layering. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it keeps you energized for the day’s activities. If you're lactose intolerant consider an egg-based protein powder instead. The Next supplement that works very well is creatine. Different people will experience different results with different types of creatine and there are a lot of different types. Monohydrate is pretty much the most basic form of creatine, probably the cheapest, and it happens to be the most studied. Creatine monohydrate has proven itself in study after study so it's a pretty safe bet to start with. There are many other types like kre akalybn for example that claim to reduce bloating and claim to eliminate the need to cycle off of creatine. However not one type of creatine has the kind of backing with scientific evidence that monohydrate has. My favorite creatine brand is probably the cheapest one. It's just plain Monohydrate from Now sports. I used to take cell tech hardcore when I used to bulk and it would always help me put on some weight. However this was like 5 years ago so they've probably change the formula by now and the old formula used to have tons of sugar in it. Like I said now if I take creatine it'll be the plain monohydrate from Now sports. Next up are your stimulants and your supplements that give you energy. Nitric oxide, caffeine, vitamin b, and beta alanine again that's all you need. Nitric oxide will help give you a great pump during your workouts and will also give you a bunch of energy and help you squeeze out those last couple reps. Beta alanine will decrease lactic acid build-up in your muscles during your sets. Which will allow you to recover faster between your sets. By decreasing fatigue beta alanine will also be another great tool to help you push out extra reps. The one side effect of beta alanine is that youll feel pins and needles when you first start taking it but it'll become less intense over time. Caffeine and vitamin B you can take anytime.

You’ve probably heard that the one thing that truly matters for weight loss and weight gain is calories in, calories out. If you burn more calories than you eat, you should lose weight, right? True, however, if you only eat donuts and cake, will you get the protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals you need for a lean, healthy body? You won’t - and that’s why a proper diet is so important. A calorie is not a calorie - some food are simply better for you than others. A 100 grams of fructose won’t have the same impact on the body as 100 grams of quality protein. The fructose will lead to insulin resistance, higher ghrelin levels and increased appetite, The protein will give you a feeling of fullness which will prevent overeating, not to mention that it will help you build muscle. Now that you know that calories aren’t all that matters, let’s take a look at the 7 foods you should drop if you want to lose fat. 1. Sugar With a nickname like “white death”, it’s no surprise sugar is at the top of this list. Sugar is nothing more than empty calories. It has no nutritional value, no vitamins and no minerals. It spikes your blood glucose and in the long term leads to metabolic syndrome, obesity, cardiovascular disease and especially type II diabetes. You can even get addicted to it and suffer withdrawal symptoms because sugar causes a release of dopamine in the reward center of the brain. Not to mention that it is extremely bad for you teeth. So what can you when you get the sweet tooth? Raw honey is a great substitute that won’t spike your insulin and actually has a ton of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and enzymes. 2. Refined grains Pasta, bread, and pizza are delicious. However, most of them are made out of refined grains. Refined grains are high on the glycemic index and can spike your blood sugar levels, leading to weight gain and type II diabetes. One study found that eating just two slices of white bread per day was linked to a 40% greater risk of weight gain and obesity (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25335643/). In the process of refinement, the bran and germ of the grain are removed, along with most of the nutrients. But don’t worry, you can still eat grains - just make sure they’re whole. 3. All sodas and sugary drinks, diet or not What goes for sugar goes for sugary drinks as well. If sugar is just empty calories, then sugary drinks are liquid calories. The problem with these is that we don’t really detect them. You can drink a whole meal’s worth of calories and still be hungry. A single bottle of Coca-Cola “only” has 184 calories, but even if you just have one or two a day, they add up quickly. The best solution is to simply cut them out completely and drink water. 4. Alcohol Alcohol has more calories per gram than carbs or protein - 7. That means it is easy to go over your week’s calories on a Friday night out. But it’s not just the calories. Alcohol is a poison to the body. When you drink it, the liver burns alcohol instead of fat - stopping your fat burning for several hours. For example, a regular beer has 150 calories. A few of those, and some fast food at the end of the night can quickly come out to over 1000 in calories. If you want to drink, do it in moderation. 5. Salt Unlike most of this list, salt is the one thing you shouldn’t give up on. The two minerals found in it - sodium and chloride - are both necessary for optimal function of the body. Going too low leads to higher LDL levels, increased insulin resistance, increased risk of death from heart disease, heart failure and type II diabetes. However, too much salt has been linked to stomach cancer. In fact, people with high salt intake have a 68% higher risk of stomach cancer. But most of that comes from processed foods, which we know are bad. If you stop eating processed foods most of the time, you don’t need to worry about salt too much.
