Pancreatic Cancer: A Beautiful Story of Survival

24:08
When patients diagnosed with cancer are admitted to the hospital, many times we see them at their lowest. From chemotherapy and radiation treatments to surgeries and diagnostic test. It can be an emotional roller coster for not only the patient but also all of their loved ones… including their medical staff… I remember about 2 months ago, I was feeling down. Normally I’m an extremely upbeat person. However, working on the oncology unit was taking it’s tole on me. I realized, that I was mistakingly focusing on some of the patients who didn’t make it. Unfortunately, many of the patients who recover fully do not make their ways back in the the hospital. I can’t blame, the hospital would not be high on my list also. Recently, I attended a fundraising event with my husband and I heard a beautiful dynamic speaker by the name of Camille. Don’t tell anyone, but I actually cried while she was talking… By the time she finished speaking, I knew I had to ask her to share her story on my channel. I waited for 2 hours to talk with her and after the crowds had died down, she graciously accepted my offer. Spending time with Camille was like taking a breath of fresh air. Imagine walking into someones home for an interview and a bubbly 60 year old greets you with tons of energy, gorgeous hair and a wholesome outlook and love for life. This is who Camlile is, just a loving bundle of joy - I left her house inspired and grateful. I hope you feel the same way after listening to her story. Camille was given one of the worst diagnosis… Had I been reading her chart, I unfortunately would have not spent too much time with it… I have never met anyone that survived Pancreatic Cancer, much less; Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with metastasis aka METS. The first doctor she went to told her that she that with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with spots on in her lungs, liver and kidneys; there was nothing they could do and she was to go home and prepare to die. However, one thing that she strongly recommends is to get a second opinion, which is what she did. She went to University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer center. She found a doctor that believed in her and she trusted him. She will be the first to tell you that her story is not the norm and oftentimes told me how it hurts her to know that many others have had the same diagnosis and not the same outcome. However, her main focus is to share that no matter how bad things seem, you can always and MUST always have hope. Thankfully Camille is not alone these days. Thanks to advanced research and better treatment options. The bike ride event that Camille and I speak about in the video is a Fundraising event. Events like these help organizations raise money to continue research and be positioned to deliver specialized treatment options. Each persons cancer is different and events like these help us do a small part to help ensure much needed progress. I hope you decide to join us. Please read bike ride information below and email me with any questions: Caroline@EmpoweRN.com See you soon! xoxo ~Caroline Fundraising Bike Ride Information: Please join Camille and I February , 11th 2017 for the fundraising bike ride. If you click on the link below scroll down to a button that says “Join My Team.” After you click on the button, you will be taken to another page that gives you multiple options on different fundraising activities. Camille and I will be doing the 14 mile bike ride. Don’t worry, it is not a race and as long as you have a decent bike you probably do not have to prepare much for it. At least I didn’t lol. The minimum fundraising donation for the bike ride is $250 - however you can reserve your spot for $150 and raise the rest later if you would like. All proceeds will be donated to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer which is South Florida's leader in cancer diagnosis and provides state-of-the-art treatment as well as follow-up care. They also have an advanced research department, which is vital to discovering better treatment options, which in turn will help us save lives. Here is what I did: I purchased the $150 bike ride fee. Then, I purchased two of the $50 Counting Crows concert tickets. I went last year and it was a lot of fun, so I think it is worth the money anyways. Then, just to start my page I paid an additional $10, this is not necessary though. Since I did this last year I know how much fun it is going to be, so I hope you decide to join Camille and I! https://fundraisers.hakuapp.com/teams/team-hurricanes-hurricane-camille By the way, if you only want to donate… every single dollar helps! No donation is too small. Thank you for watching and thank you Camille for sharing your beautiful energy and message of hope to us all. Happy Holidays, ~Caroline

Early Warning Signs of Pancreatic Cancer

06:08
Early Warning Signs of Pancreatic Cancer Diabetes, especially if it comes on suddenly. Recently, the Mayo Clinic published startling research showing that 40 percent of pancreatic cancer patients had been diagnosed with diabetes one to two years before discovering they had a pancreatic tumor. Researchers believe the diabetes is caused by tumors that simply haven't been detected yet. The problem is, diabetes is very common, and the majority of diabetes isn't pancreatic cancer, so doctors are trying to develop screening tools to tell the difference. Right now, they say family history is an important clue. If you're diagnosed with diabetes that seems to come on suddenly and you have no family history of diabetes, bring this to your doctor's attention and ask for further screening for pancreatic cancer. Yellowing of the eyes or skin. Even a small pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct in the head of the pancreas, causing bile to build up. This causes jaundice. Itchy skin, palms, and soles of feet. A little-known side-effect of jaundice is itchy hands and feet. It's due to a skin reaction to the bilirubin, the yellowish brown liver chemical that causes jaundice. Lack of appetite. An Italian study found that six to eight months before being diagnosed with pancreatic tumors, patients reported a sudden drop in their appetite and a tendency to feel full after eating very little. Changes in taste. In the same Italian study, some of the patients surveyed said they'd suddenly lost their taste for coffee, wine, and smoking. In fact, they said, they felt "disgust" for the smell and taste of coffee and alcohol. Abdominal pain. Pancreatic cancer sufferers remember this pain as a gnawing pain, rather than a sharp cramp or ache, and it radiates toward the back. A characteristic clue: the pain goes away when you lean forward. An enlarged gall bladder. The same blockage of the bile duct that causes jaundice can also cause an enlarged gallbladder, as the bile builds up behind the duct. The good news is that an enlarged gallbladder can be seen on imaging tests, and it may even be possible for a doctor to feel it during a physical exam. Pale, floating, smelly stools. If a pancreatic tumor prevents digestive enzymes from reaching the intestine, the result is an inability to digest fatty foods. So you end up with loose, smelly "floaters" as a result of the excess fat. Doctors say this symptom, in particular, can be an early clue and is too often overlooked. Dark, tarry stools. Bleeding in the upper intestines causes this symptom. Sudden, unexplained weight loss. Weight loss is not always, as many people mistakenly believe, a sign of advanced cancer that's spread to the liver. It can also happen because a lack of pancreatic enzymes is causing fat to pass through the body undigested. New videos everyday! Related Videos: Pancreatic Cancer https://youtu.be/pbskOHAXpJg Signs Of Pancreatic Cancer https://youtu.be/Vdp1zb7QKsU Transcript: Stages Of Pancreatic Cancer I learned more than I ever really wanted to about the stages of pancreatic cancer recently when a friend was diagnosed. I did a lot of reading and research when that happened, using only reputable and reliable websites like those on your screen, and I'll share that information in the next minute or so. This video focuses only on the stages of pancreatic cancer. I've produced several other videos on related topics. You'll find links below. Once a diagnosis has been made, the doctor assigns a stage to each patient. Stage I Cancer is confined to the pancreas and can be removed using surgery. Stage II Cancer has spread beyond the pancreas to nearby tissues and organs and may have spread to the lymph nodes. At this stage, surgery may be possible to remove the cancer. Stage III Cancer has spread beyond the pancreas to the major blood vessels around the pancreas and may have spread to the lymph nodes. Surgery may or may not be possible to remove the cancer at this stage. Stage IV. Cancer has spread to distant sites beyond the pancreas, such as the liver, lungs and the lining that surrounds your abdominal organs (peritoneum). Surgery isn't an option at this stage in the disease. Naturally, the earlier the stage, the better the possibility of successful treatment. I hope this video has given you the basics you were looking for. But remember, you should only rely on a medical professional for the most up-to-date information about pancreatic cancer or any other issue related to your health.

It can also happen because a lack of pancreatic enzymes is causing fat to pass through the body undigested. What do you do if you're worried about any of these symptoms? Document all symptoms, and report them to your doctor in as much detail as possible. If your doctor is convinced you have legitimate concerns (and remember, you may have to do some convincing), tests such as an ultrasound, a CT scan, and an endoscopy followed by a biopsy can be used to search for a pancreatic tumor. A blood test is now available for a biomarker called CA 19-9 that is released by pancreatic cancer cells. Unfortunately, by the time CA 19-9 reaches detectable levels, the cancer is usually no longer in the early stage, although the test is useful during treatment and for detecting recurrence. Another biomarker test, CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen), is also not sensitive enough to provide early diagnosis. While tragic early deaths like Steve Jobs' are the hard reality of pancreatic cancer, there are also people living productive lives thanks to an early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Such was the case with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who's still practicing after having a tiny pancreatic tumor surgically removed. Yes, she got "lucky," as she put it -- but she also got a CT scan, which is how the tumor was found. {The information provided on this channel and its videos is for general purposes only and should not be considered as professional advice. Charlotte Rae shares her experience with pancreatic cancer

03:45
Chalotte Rae, familiar to millions of TV viewers as the housemother on the '80s sitcom The Facts of Life, was diagnosed in 2009 with pancreatic cancer, an often-silent killer with few if any symptoms until it is too late. Some 40,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed each year, and by the time diagnosis is made, up to 80 percent of patients are no longer candidates for treatment. "I had no symptoms," Rae says. "I had absolutely no symptoms. None whatsoever." But Rae was, in a way, lucky. Because she had a family history of the disease - her mother, uncle and older sister all died from the disease - she underwent early screening, which detected the cancer at an early stage. "We're working hard to develop tests for earlier diagnosis," says Howard Reber, M.D., director of the UCLA Pancreatic Cancer Program. The goal is to create something similar to the PSA test now done to detect prostate cancer in its early stages, before it has had a chance to spread. "In patients where we know that there's an increased likelihood of the development of the disease, we can screen them, we can get CT scans, we can get endoscopic ultrasounds," Dr. Reber says. In Rae's case, the cancer was detected and found to be contained, but it was growing fast. Surgery was performed to remove the cancer, and now, following surgery and chemotherapy, Rae is cancer free. Signs and Symptoms Of Pancreatic Cancer You Should Know

10:10
Descriptions of Warning symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer: It accounts for about 3 percent of all cancers in the United States, but 7 percent of cancer deaths. Pancreatic cancer begins in the tissues of your pancreas, a pear-shaped organ located behind the lower part of your stomach Pancreatic cancer is difficult to detect early and it typically spreads rapidly, affecting other parts of the body. This is why it is called a silent disease and you must get cancer pancreas treatment. Here are the top 6 early warning signs of pancreatic cancer that you must know. 1, Jaundice. 01:02 It is common for people with pancreatic cancer to experience jaundice, characterized by yellowing of the eyes or skin. Jaundice can also cause itchiness on the hands and feet, especially the palms and soles. Any size of tumor located in the head of the pancreas can lead to irregular bile (a yellowish-brown fluid released by your liver to aid digestion) flowing from the gallbladder into the small intestine. This causes excess buildup of bilirubin in the blood, one of the main causes of jaundice. 2, Abdominal and Lower Back Pain. 02:05 Abdominal as well as back pain are also common symptoms in patients with pancreatic cancer. Usually, the sharp pain is felt in the upper abdomen, which gradually radiates toward the back. Many patients also report the pain is more severe at night and that they get slight relief from the pain by bending forward. If you are experiencing persistent, mild to moderate abdominal pain, consult a doctor or pancreatic cancer clinical trials. Most cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed in patients visiting the emergency room complaining of severe abdominal pain. 3, Nausea and Vomiting. 03:12 Nausea followed by vomiting is another sign of pancreatic cancer. As the tumor grows, it can block some portions of the digestive tract, which hampers the overall digestion process. Along with nausea and vomiting, you may also experience heartburn and acid reflux. If these symptoms tend to worsen after eating and it is becoming difficult for you to eat anything without throwing up, consult your doctor and get best pancreatic cancer treatment. In advanced cases of pancreatic cancer, surgery may be required to bypass the blockage and improve digestion. 4, Unexplained Weight Loss. 04:07 Unexplained weight loss is another noticeable warning sign of different types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. Weight loss often occurs when a tumor spreads to nearby organs and impairs their functioning. This affects proper digestion of nutrients and also leads to poor appetite. Also, due to lack of pancreatic enzymes aiding digestion, dietary fats start passing through the body undigested, which in turn causes weight loss. Furthermore, the cancer cells compete with healthy cells for nutrients you must find a pancreatic cancer therapy. 5, Greasy or Light-Colored Stool. 05:06 Stools of people suffering from pancreatic cancer have some distinct characteristics. The stools may become large, pale, oily, floating and smelly as the growing tumor prevents the pancreas from releasing its digestive enzymes. As the color and consistency of your stool says a lot about your health, any kind of bowel changes should be reported to your doctor. 6, Changes in Urine Color. 06:13 Along with changes in your stools, you may also notice changes in your urine color, despite drinking enough fluid throughout the day. Your urine may become darker and take on an orange, amber or brown shade. A growing pancreatic tumor can cause bile to get blocked and not released from your body in the way that it should be. Too much bilirubin in the body can get into your urine and make it dark in appearance. At times, there also may be traces of blood in your urine. Music: Royalty Free Music from Bensound

Pancreatic Cancer Symptoms - Why you Should get Routine Checkups and Thoughts on Treatment!

09:34
http://utahtexans.com/ Click on the link above for a free guide on choosing and buying dietary supplements for better health. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal forms of cancer someone can get. If you have some stomach pain or diarrhea your probably not going to think it's pancreatic cancer. What is worse is that the symptoms are only really brought after the cancer has spread a lot. Unless you're lucky and you find this disease at a routine checkup in its early stages, the best way to cure it, would be to not get it in the first place. Did you know that smoking tobacco is responsible for 20-30% of pancreatic cancer cases? I used to smoke myself and it's not easy to stop, but just looking at some of the statistics of the harm it causes, can help a person not do this. Just think about these numbers every time you light up. Like I mentioned earlier eating a lot of processed and high sugary foods all can raise the risk as well. The reality is that for thousands of years humans have been eating a certain way. Then very recently we have been changing the way we eat, and obviously our bodies are not used to it and it creates all these problems. According to a study done by the University of East Anglia people whose diet had a large amount of antioxidants were two thirds less likely to get infected with this type of disease, than individuals who rarely consumed antioxidants. This comes as no surprise since antioxidants play a role in defending cells from damage, and a damaged cell is what cancer really is. Besides antioxidants there are a variety of vitamins and nutrients that play a role in the health of cells. If someone is lacking in just one of these nutrients it could bring about all kinds of problems. Sure someone can get there vitamins from food but the truth is that most of the food we do eat doesn't have the vitamins and nutrients like it used to. This is due to many culprits, but the biggest one is soil depletion. Many farmers use chemicals and methods to improve their crops size, growth and resistance to insects, but reduce the vitamins and nutrients in them. Another risk factor of this health problem is having a bad digestive system. Eating healthy definitely helps, but another great idea would be by adding good bacteria. Your digestive system actually has tens of billions of bacteria and they are constantly fighting unhealthy bacteria. If the bad bacteria wins in could bring about all kinds of issues like constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. Something known as probiotics as well as prebiotics helps the healthy bacteria. The difference between the two is that probiotics are man-made, they are found in yogurt and adds healthy bacteria. Prebiotics is found in certain vegetables and helps grow the good bacteria already in a person's digestive system. So you might be wondering which one is better. Prebiotics are actually a whole lot better because it enables the good bacteria to rapidly grow and expand much more than by adding probiotics. Besides what I have already listed maintaining a healthy weight is huge when preventing health problems like this cancer. Apart from eating a good diet it's very important for someone to exercise daily and if you dislike exercising try listening to a good podcast and going for a walk. According to the Cancer Journal health experts believe that obese individuals are 72 percent more likely to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Another idea that I learned from Dr. OZ a famous TV doctor in the United States would be to take a supplement with curcumin which can help a lot. Before you start to purchase many dietary supplements it's important to realize that these products can sometimes do you more harm than good. The fact is government agencies in many countries don't protect consumers against unhealthy products. Due to this it's easy for companies to make crappy, crummy products that harm people. To protect yourself and your loved ones I highly recommend you view a free report I created on the topic of shopping for dietary supplements. It explains how to distinguish between a good supplement brand and a risky choice. It talks about what dietary supplements someone should take for certain health conditions and much more. The best part is that it's completely free, and you can view this guide by clicking on the link http://utahtexans.com/.

Pancreatic Cancer Treatment With 5 Natural Herbs

10:11
Pancreatic Cancer Treatment With 5 Natural Herbs The pancreas helps the body break down foods more efficiently and absorb their nutrients. Also, along with insulin, this organ produces many important hormones like polypeptides, somatostatin and glucagon. If your pancreas does not function properly, several health problems can arise, including diabetes, pancreatitis and even pancreatic cancer. Although the causes of its malfunctions are not well understood, diet and lifestyle can help rejuvenate your pancreas. In fact, there are many pancreas-friendly foods that can heal and protect this vital organ. Here are Amazing Foods to treat Your Pancreatic cancer that you should to know; 01:02 Garlic. 02:05 Probiotic Yogurt. 03:09 Spinach 04:07 Turmeric. 05:06 Blueberries. 1, Garlic. Garlic contains a compound called allicin, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as well as pancreatic cancer prevention ability. Garlic also contains other beneficial nutrients, such as sulfur, arginine, oligosaccharides, flavonoids and selenium, which have positive effects on pancreatic tissues. A 2013 study published in the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention reports the preventive and therapeutic potential of garlic oil on pancreatic carcinoma cells. It is also highly beneficial for preventing as well as treating diabetes. It has antihyperglycemic and lipid-lowering properties. It helps reduce the amount of sugar in the blood and stimulates the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin. 2, Probiotic Yogurt. Yogurt with live, probiotic cultures is another amazing food that is good for your pancreas. Probiotic yogurt helps replace and replenish the healthy bacteria in your gut, which is important for a healthy digestive system. A healthy digestive system is important for pancreatic health. It also has been found to be helpful in treating problems associated with the pancreas. 3, Spinach. Spinach is a good source of iron and vitamin B, the two nutrients that your pancreas needs to function properly. When your body receives these two nutrients in adequate amounts, there is less chance of inflammation in the pancreas. Inflammation in the pancreas increases your risk of pancreatic cancer. In fact, spinach contains a powerful cancer-fighting agent called MGDG (monogalactosyldiacylglycerol) that can slow down the growth of cancer cells in the pancreas and induce apoptosis. Spinach is also beneficial for controlling high glucose levels. 4, Turmeric. Turmeric, a popular spice used in day-to-day cooking, is also good for your pancreas. It possesses cancer-fighting properties that help prevent many cancers, including pancreatic cancer. The compound curcumin in it is effective in identifying potential cancer cells and aids in destructing these harmful cells without damaging healthy cells. A 2013 study published in Anticancer Research found that a unique turmeric extract known as liposomal curcumin may provide an alternative to chemotherapy in the treatment of lethal pancreatic cancers. Turmeric is also a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that protects your pancreas by preventing inflammation of any kind. This spice is even good for controlling high blood sugar and preventing diabetes. 5, Blueberries. All types of berries are good for your pancreatic health, but blueberries are the best for this purpose. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants, which can protect the pancreas from oxidative stress resulting from free-radical damage. These berries can also reduce your risk of developing serious conditions like pancreatic cancer. This video focuses exclusively on the stages of pancreas cancer cancer. For information about pancreatic cancer causes and symptoms, see the links below the video screen. Once a doctor has diagnosed the presence of pancreas, he or she assigns a stage to each patient. The stage describe the extent -- how much the disease has spread -- when diagnosis is determined. It is important because it helps your doctor choose the appropriate treatment. Stage I Cancer appears only in the pancreas itself and can be removed using surgery. Stage II Cancer has spread beyond the pancreas to nearby tissues and organs and may have spread to the lymph nodes. At this stage, surgery may still be possible. Stage III Cancer has spread beyond the pancreas to the major blood vessels around the pancreas and may have spread to the lymph nodes. Surgery may or may not be an option at this stage. Stage IV. Cancer has spread to distant organs, such as the liver, lungs and the lining that surrounds your abdominal organs. Surgery is not an option at this stage in the disease. Naturally, the earlier the stage, the better the possibility of successful treatment. The purpose of this video has been to provide quick, basic information about the stages of cancer that strikes the pancreas. But remember, you should always rely only on advice from a medical professional in any matter related to your health.

10 Signs and Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer

02:31
Pancreatic cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissues of the pancreas. This type of cancer is the 4th-leading cause of cancer-related fatalities in the US. Risk factors for pancreatic cancer include - Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, stomach ulcer, and smoking tobacco. Because there are not many noticeable symptoms early on, experts frequently say that pancreatic cancer is a silent disease. However, as cancer grows, signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer may include: #1 Elevated Blood Sugar Levels - some people with pancreatic cancer develop type 2 diabetes as cancer impairs the pancreas' capacity to produce insulin. #2 Nausea - it can happen during later stages, especially if a pancreatic tumor has grown large enough to block a portion of the digestive tract. #3 Bloating - some patients with pancreatic cancer have an uncomfortable swelling in the abdomen or a sense of early fullness with meals. #4 Difficulty Swallowing - if the pancreas is not working correctly due to cancer, it can cause problems with digestion. #5 Pain In The Upper Abdomen - this pain is significant and can be persistent but also intermittent. Also, it can vary between patients. #6 Yellowing Of The Whites Of The Eyes And Skin - jaundice is more common with cancer of the head of the pancreas since the tumor blocks the bile duct. #7 Blood Clots - cancer causes changes in the blood which can increase the likelihood of forming clots. #8 Unexplained Weight Loss - this happens because the pancreas plays an essential role in digesting food and the food is not properly digested, that can lead to weight loss. #9 Poor Appetite. #10 Floating Stools - it occurs due to the fact that the body is not digesting fats well. Pancreatic Cancer and hard-hitting campaign discussed on This Morning

01:44
Following the launch of our hard-hitting campaign, Dr Dawn Harper discusses why we needed to do this. Here is our official statement about the ad: All types of cancer are horrific and no one would wish for themselves or anyone they care about to be affected by this terrible disease. Our hearts go out to anyone who has been affected by it. Over the past 20-30 years we have seen an increased investment in research for many cancers alongside effective awareness campaigns by cancer charities which have helped to make a difference in terms of improved survival for most cancers, but sadly the same cannot be said for pancreatic cancer. As you know, awareness is key to early diagnosis and this is particularly true for pancreatic cancer. In our case, despite the best efforts of ourselves and other pancreatic cancer organisations, for 40 years, pancreatic cancer patients in the UK have faced the same grim prognosis -- only a three per cent chance of survival and an average life expectancy of less than six months. The only thing that has changed is that funding into research has fallen. Even though it's UK's fifth biggest cancer killer, it received under 1% of cancer research funding in 2012. With no early detection test available, the key to changing the numbers relies on shouting really loud about the disease and its symptoms to raise awareness with the public. Ultimately, we want more people to be diagnosed earlier and in time for surgery, which is currently the only potential cure. Early diagnosis is crucial as, for those diagnosed in time for surgery to remove the tumour, their chance of surviving five years increases ten-fold. While no-one would ever wish to have cancer, if faced with the dark reality of a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, many patients, while sat in a doctor's room, might wish, even just for a second, to have another cancer and be faced with a better chance of survival.

07:09
All about Pancreatic Cancer - The helpful video of cancer pancreas: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkvPVlM5D-6sc-Xcidfvg20JirO9vNz3u What is the pancreas? Pancreas locationThe pancreas is an organ about 6 inches long and shaped like a thin pear lying on its side. The wider end of the pancreas is called the head, the middle section is called the body, and the narrow end is called the tail. Where is the pancreas? The pancreas is found deep inside the body, behind the stomach and in front of the spine. It has two main jobs in the body, making: Enzymes – these help to digest (break down) foods. Hormones – such as insulin and glucagon, which control blood sugar levels. In this way, the pancreas helps the body use and store the energy it gets from food. A tube called the pancreatic duct connects the pancreas to the first part of the small intestine, known as the duodenum. Digestive enzymes pass through this tube to help break down food. Another tube, called the common bile duct, passes through the head of the pancreas. This tube carries bile – a substance that helps to digest fats – from the liver and gall bladder to the small intestine. The bile duct may get blocked when a pancreatic tumour invades it. This causes jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin and dark urine). The pancreas contains two types of glands: Exocrine glands – create the enzymes which help digest (break down) foods. Endocrine glands – create the hormones such as insulin and glucagon, which control blood sugars. *If you like this video "about pancreatic cancer", please share it: http://youtu.be/hg34EIJUJ-8 *Subcribe our channel "Cancer Pancreas Symptoms and Treatment" https://www.youtube.com/user/CancerPancreas *Featured video: 3mins understanding CANCER PANCREAS Symptoms & Treatment Pancreatic Cancer useful visual guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qnJMt4q4Yk Using under Creative Common (CC)

For an additional dose of inspiration and hope, be sure to watch the survivor stories of many others here: http://bit.ly/cancer-survivor-story-yt. Susie Lemieux’s life changed forever in November of 2014 when her husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer... When her husband was diagnosed, Susie left her job and became his full-time caregiver. He lived 11 months. And it was only 3 months after the doctors declared him “cancer free” that he died. In deep grief, Susie struggled through. The memories of her husband withering away before her eyes were still vivid. Five months later, she started to experience symptoms and her doctor ordered a CAT scan. That’s when they found that she, too, had pancreatic cancer. Putting together a medical team and moving to stay with her daughter in California, Susie worked hard to “wage hope” during this difficult time. She followed her doctor’s recommended pancreatic cancer treatment: chemotherapy and radiation. Tune in until the end to hear how she then uncovered a wealth of knowledge and empowerment that she could use to get healthy again - and why she attributes this to The Truth About Cancer. Plus, learn what diet changed the direction of her health entirely. She even created her own healing protocol based on what she learned from TTAC! Watch this video to hear the rest of Susie Lemieux’s inspiring story, and how she feels better today than she felt before her diagnosis. 8 Surprising Early Warning Signs Of Pancreatic Cancer You Should Never Ignore

04:33
Sign 1: Unexpected Diabetes Diagnosis. Diabetes is a disease where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin and stops being able to regulate blood sugar. It’s a common illness that comes in many different forms, but an abrupt diagnosis as an adult might be a sign of the first stages of pancreatic cancer. Since a problem in the pancreas might cause insulin issues, you should ask your doctor to rule out pancreatic cancer if you get an unexpected diabetes diagnosis. Sign 2: Itchy Hands And Feet. “Even a small pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct,” according to Caring.com. If the duct is blocked, bile starts to build up in the body. When there’s too much bile in the blood, it starts to create compounds in the blood that can’t be broken down. These compounds accumulate in the hands and feet, which might make your palms and the soles of the feet persistently itchy. Sign 3: Yellowing Eyes. The buildup of bile in the blood stream is also called jaundice. This causes a lot of other symptoms beyond itchy palms and feet. Bile has a bright yellow pigment, and it can show up in the whites of the eyes. This is another sign that a blockage, such as a small pancreatic tumor, might be developing in the pancreas. Sign 4: Gnawing Pain In Belly. Abdominal pain is a common symptom with a lot of different causes. Pain that radiates out from the pancreas is often described as “gnawing,” a bit like a hunger pain. People who have had pancreatic cancer also report that the pain tends to go away when they lean forward. Sign 5: Strange Stools. Your poop might provide one of the earliest clues to a problem developing in the pancreas. If bile isn’t being processed properly, your bowel movements won’t be their normal brown color. Instead, they’ll look pale and clay-colored, which is a symptom you always want to bring to your doctor. Sign 6: Sudden Weight Lost. Weight loss is welcome if you’re trying to work off those last 10 pounds, but it can be an alarming red flag if you aren’t trying to drop any weight at all. If a pancreatic tumor is developing, it may prevent your body from digesting food thoroughly. That means that fat and sugar might pass right through your system without sticking, though essential nutrients also aren’t making it into your body. Sign 7: Cravings Disappear. If you have always craved chocolate or cheese, and then suddenly lose your taste for them, you should pay close attention. If your pancreas stops producing the regular digestive enzymes, it might also change your appetite. In addition to feeling nauseated, you might find that specific foods you used to crave no longer taste nearly as delicious. Sign 8: No Appetite. Pancreatic cancer doesn’t just cause cravings to disappear, it might make your whole appetite go up in smoke too. You might feel hungry, then find that you’r completely full after just a bite or two. That’s because the lack of digestive enzymes can shut down your whole system and confuse your stomach. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important that you get in touch with your doctor right away. This is especially true if you’re experiencing multiple symptoms all at once, since every early warning sign might help your doctor find a diagnosis. New Study Shows IRE Treatment Significantly Improves Remission Rates for Pancreatic Cancer

05:33
Doctor with Survivor Discusses Her Battle Against Advanced Pancreatic Cancer and Amazing Long-Term Remission It’s well known that pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all cancers, making a diagnosis a virtual death sentence. In fact, it’s estimated that 94% of pancreatic cancer patients die within five years of diagnosis, and 74% of patients die within the first year. Given its deadly nature and the fact that it’s anticipated to move from the #4 leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US to #2 by 2020, finding additional treatment options for advanced pancreatic cancer is critical. Now a study led by the University of Louisville’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center in collaboration with other leading US centers, called Soft Tissue Ablation Registry or STAR, is showing great promise for people with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The data provides additional evidence that irreversible electroporation (IRE) ablation has the potential to augment the current treatment model and change the standard of care for patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. The NanoKnife® IRE system is a tool that destroys cancerous cells by subjecting them to a series of short electrical pulses using high-voltage direct current that does not injure surrounding cells, blood vessels or other vital structures. Diagnosed at forty-three years old, with two young boys in kindergarten and second grade, Elise Tedeschi, is available to discuss her personal battle with pancreatic cancer. Given just 9 months to live, she is now more than two and a half years in remission and thriving. Joining her is leading oncology surgeon, Dr. Robert Martin. Together they bring both a professional and personal, real-world view to what this new surgical technology could potentially do for those faced with a diagnosis of locally advanced pancreatic cancer. They also want to encourage patients be advocates about their healthcare and explore all options available to them. ABOUT: Robert Martin, M.D., Ph.D.: Dr. Martin has devoted most of his career to cancer treatment and care. He is the Director of the Division of Surgical Oncology, faculty member, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville, James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Kentucky. He received his M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, his surgical oncology training and hepato-pancreatico-biliary training from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and his Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxiciology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. About STAR: The Soft Tissue Ablation Registry (STAR) is a retrospective analysis of Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) performed on 200 locally advanced pancreatic cancer patients at six medical centers in the US. This interview is provided by the University of Louisville The study was conducted at the University of Louisville, Cleveland Clinic, Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Atlanta, the Henry Ford Health Systems in Detroit, Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and Swedish Medical Center in Denver. Pancreatic Cancer Treatment & Surgery | Pancreatic Cancer Success Stories - Max Hospital

04:00
A video showing successful pancreatic cancer treatment & surgery of Mr. Umashankar at Max Hospital Saket. Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most challenging cancers to treat and has one of the highest mortality rates among cancer patients. Mr. Umashankar's ordeal began when he fell during his morning walk due to dizziness. His friends took him to Max Hospital Saket where doctors took his blood test. Through the blood test, it became clear that he had very low haemoglobin which was caused by pancreatic cancer. Umashankar and his wife were worried, however, somehow they decided to go forward with the treatment. Dr. Dinesh Singhal at Max Hospital Saket took charge of the case and assured Mr. Umashankar that they would try their best to ensure his recovery and quality of life. The operation was technically different from other pancreatic cancer cases and took more than 8 hours. Today Umashankar is fit and gives all the credits for his happy life to Max Hospital Saket. Turmeric Curcumin and Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic Cancer -- My Father Died 3 Months after Diagnosis

02:38
Teri shares her family's story about her father's diagnosis with pancreatic cancer and his death in less than three months after diagnosis. Her father had always lived a healthy life, ate a good diet and was physically active. Teri noticed he looked ill and took him to UCLA where he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She helped him search for options but learned he was past the point of surgery. Chemotherapy had no good outcome, in fact his tumors doubled. Shortly after, Teri's father died. She met Agi Hirshberg, founder of the Hirshberg Foundation, who talked with Teri about her experiences. Teri dove into work with the Foundation; it actually became her therapy as she says. She helped the Hirshberg Foundation plan events to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research and started a charity in her father's name to support further investigation and help spread awareness about this disease. Teri states, "My passion is that no one should go through what my dad did. He was gone in under three months; this should not happen to anyone. I had no knowledge of pancreatic cancer, but learned more than I need to know. In the last eleven years we've come a long way, but we are nowhere near where we need to be. I'll continue to fight till we find that cure."

Pancreatic Cancer - Dad's Last CHEMO!!! Whoop!

12:17
Last June, my dad's whole body turned yellow in color. He visited a few doctors and took a few tests. A few days later, his doctor said that there was a mass in the head of the pancreas. This was causing blockage, which resulted in the yellowing of his skin. It was cancer and he was given 6 months to live. The next day we visited a well known hospital in Los Angeles, CA, where we were praying to get an appointment. Our prayers came true, the next thing we know he had an endoscopic ultra sound. Exactly 1 week later on the 4th of July he was admitted to our local hospital for the Whipple surgery. JUST GET IT OUT! and the amazing Hayashi doctors did just that. I am so blessed that our prays have came true and my dad just finished Chemo. As of right now there is no signs of cancer. It's gone for now and hopefully we will never see it again. :) Pancreatic Cancer is the real deal and there are more and more cases popping up. I will pray for everyone going through this and any other cancer, its just not fun. Keep your heads up, stay positive and stay active. Donate now to help fight against Pancreatic Cancer!: https://donate.cancer.org/index Notes pertaining to My Dad's Pancreatic Cancer Experience First signs of something gone wrong and looking back: Acid indigestion and nothing he took would work for about a week Jaundice found in his eyes Clay colored stool (light gray) Dark Urine CT Scan (Selma Carlson Diagnostic Center, SLO) GP Referral/MRI for confirmation (Five Cities Imaging, PB) Gastroenterologist Referral/Endoscopic Ultrasound to take a biopsy and to determine the size (Cedar Sinai, LA) Gastroenterologist Referral/All images and results were sent to Dr. Edwin Hayashi, Surgeon (PB Office) Gastroenterologist Referral/A SLO Medical Group determined the clearance for procedure go-ahead presented by Dr. Hayashi to move ahead immediately….hence “The Whipple Procedure” After a successful operation: Oncologist determines treatment/Dr. Margaret Tempero, M.D. Director of the UCSF Pancreas Cancer Center and leader of the Pancreas Cancer Program, SFO (Dr. Palchak, Oncologist Referral for second opinion and spoke to Dr. Tempero personally) Clinical Trails were discussed. (Valuable Website: UCSF Medical Center – Margaret Tempero, MD. – Gastrointestinal cancer specialist…Conditions and Treatments - Pancreatic Cancer…clinical trials) Dad’s treatment plan: They started him on Gemcitabine; a needle in the vein administered treatment once a week. They added Xeloda (Capecitabine); an aggressive chemo treatment taken by mouth as a pill for a 14 day segment then discontinued Xeloda (Capecitabine) from his treatment plan. He later had a port implanted (minor surgery) for easier access to his vein for the Gemcitabine and any additional medications needed.
