Levothyroxine Side Effects - Complete List + Dosing Guide for Patients

21:10
In this video I go over the complete list of Levothyroxine side effects ranging from weight gain to hair loss and everything in between. Yes, Levothyroxine can cause hair loss and it can also cause weight GAIN. How can that be if levothyroxine is supposed to boost your metabolism? In this video I explain how the metabolism of thyroid hormone in your body from T4 to reverse T3 may help explain why many people actually gain weight on this particular medication. I also go over the recommendations I give to patients if this happens to them. I also go over how to determine which thyroid medication is right for YOUR Body and how to dose your levothyroxine. When patients have reactions to levothyroxine it's from 1 of 3 reasons typically: 1) they are reacting to a filler ingredient or a dye within the medication itself. 2) they are converting or metabolizing the thyroid hormone into by products that don't promote proper activity 3) they are getting too much thyroid hormone for THEIR body (this one is less common) The side effects when patients react to fillers or dyes include reactions like facial swelling, edema, hives, itching sensation, etc. The side effects from improper metabolism include reactions like weight gain, hair loss, slower than normal metabolism, cold hands/extremities, etc. The side effects from TOO much medication include: hot flashes, tachycardia or rapid heart rate, palpitations, hair loss, intolerance to heat. The treatment for each of these reactions is quite different and I explain what to do depending on how you are reacting. Leave your questions below! More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/levothyroxine-side-effects/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg interviews Vicki Bales Humble with her success on the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. Before she started keto, her cholesterol was fairly high. She never had a weight problem growing up, and then gained weight having children but always lost it quickly. When she was in her mid twenties, she started losing weight at an extreme rate and her mother was worried, so she took her to the doctor where she found her thyroid was shutting down. Once her thyroid stopped working she gained weight and the doctors put her on Synthroid, and made her feel like a zombie, all she wanted to do was sleep, sleep, and sleep some more. Medications tend to not work but after the doctors played around with the dose, she finally said forget it; "I would rather be fat and happy then skinny and a zombie." Fast forward to her late 40's and here she is still over weight. She started Keto May 27, 2017, and she lost 78 pounds. She was a size 18/20 and now a size 6/8, LDL 94 HDL 96 Triglycerides 53 and guess what? Her thyroid is NOW WORKING!! She lost 27 pounds. Intermittent Fasting & Your Thyroid

Organic Icelandic Sea Kelp: http://bit.ly/OrganicSeaKelpCart10 Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about Intermittent Fasting and your thyroid. Many people are concerned about intermittent fasting because they think they will lower their calories and damage or slow the already slow thyroid. As long as you keep the calories the same or keep your nutrients the same and eat less frequent meals - you will not slow the thyroid. In fact, intermittent fasting can help convert T4 to T3 improving the thyroid. I do recommend doing a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. Selenium (Nutritional or Brewers Yeast), and iodine is best for the thyroid, and I recommend taking sea help. Make sure your sea kelp is organic is clean. You may want to avoid doing too many cruciferous vegetables as they could slow the thyroid even more. Vitamin A and D are also vital for the thyroid and "Virgin Cod Liver Oil" is the best for that. Hypothyroidism case study 40 pound weight loss over 6 months with before/after pictures

28:06
Video # 2 in a weight loss with hypothyroidism video series. This video represents an actual hypothyroid patient from my practice who lost 40 pounds over 6 months with before/after pictures. You will immediately notice her changes in the picture above and I walk you through in detail how YOU can get these types of changes as well. Hypothyroid patients almost always have difficulty with weight loss due to a variety of reasons. Most patients wrongly believe that their weight loss problem is due primarily to a lack of thyroid hormone and that's where they are wrong. Low thyroid hormone by itself causes a slow metabolism but it also causes and encourages other hormone imbalances. Specifically it leads to insulin resistance, leptin resistance and even estrogen/progesterone imbalances. It is these changes that make future weight loss impossible. So that means focusing on thyroid hormone alone generally won't result in significant weight loss. Even adding on NDT or T3 to your regimen will likely result in 5-10 pounds of weight loss at MOST. Compare that to focusing on the other hormone imbalances and you can see the advantage in this case study above. I show you exactly how to test for the following hormone imbalances: 1. Adrenal related issues (checking cortisol levels) 2. Thyroid resistance (by checking free T3 and reverse T3) 3. Low testosterone (by checking free and total testosterone) 4. Estrogen dominance (by checking estradiol + progesterone) 5. Checking for leptin resistance (by checking fasting serum leptin levels) 6. Checking for insulin resistance (by checking fasting insulin and Hgb A1c) I also go over the treatment for each of these conditions and show you how the patient above was able to get these results. This particular patient has Hashimoto's thyroiditis, but this will also work for patients who have hypothyroidism. In addition I go over how to correctly pick the right diet to allow for weight loss in this patient population. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/weight-loss-naturethroid/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Can one fast with Hypothyroidism? - Dr. Surekha Tiwari

01:26
Hypothyroidism is a metabolic disorder. Your thyroid is not working. So your TSH levels are going high because the thyroid is not producing enough thyroxin and the pituitary gland is somewhere getting the information that the metabolism is not on dot, that is hypothyroidism, that has nothing to do with fasting. Fasting is something to do where you are detoxifying your body. Detoxification is always good. Even for hypothyroidism it is good as long as it is done intelligently. In all the religious favors that we must also take care that the body runs on simple shear method of if you are cleansing it, provided for enough water, provided alkaline medium and ensure that you are giving it rest. So if you are doing any of this, then hypothyroidism is no contraindication to fasting.

Sacred Truth Ep. 50: Thyroid Truths

08:48
Everybody knows that if you can’t lose weight and keep it off, you need thyroid meds, right? Wrong! Thyroid drugs are most certainly not the answer. Common thyroid drugs like levothyroxine, but known by many other names too have long been used with little success in the treatment of underactive thyroid, Hashimoto's disease, enlarged thyroid gland, thyroid cancer, and myxedema. They are also prescribed on the false belief that they help weight loss in hypothyroid people who can’t shed excess fat. But it doesn’t work. Only small amounts of fat, if any, can be lost. Once thyroid hormones are stopped, fat is regained. And this is true even when thyroid medication is continued for years. By the way, Synthroid is now the fourth most prescribed drug in the United States. There can also be all sorts of negative consequences in allowing your body to be treated with these synthetic chemicals that can seriously interfere with your quality of life. For one, they compete with natural hormones that your thyroid gland is still producing. You see, it’s not feasible for any human body filled with synthetic chemicals to be tricked into responding to them as though they were bio-equivalent, despite the claims of drug companies and the medical establishment, who tell you that drugs used to treat your body are an identical equivalent. The standard medical model for the treatment of thyroid disorders is badly flawed. There are huge misunderstandings about causes and effective treatments for thyroid deficiencies, which, by the way, may now affect as many as 90% of women in the Western world. A great place to begin getting an understanding of all of this is by reading the work of Dr. David Brownstein, author of Overcoming Thyroid Disorders and Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It (third edition). Brownstein is a leading expert in natural approaches to health and healing. He talks about something you need to know and probably have never been told: a major cause of thyroid malfunction, as well as many other conditions, is iodine deficiency. There will be more about this in a moment. In his books, his videos, and his DVDs, Brownstein shows how a natural holistic program can not only help transform hypothyroidism but also arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Hashimoto’s disease, and many other conditions by using safe, natural therapies. His work can bring you reliable information on such things as: • Natural thyroid hormone • Bioidentical natural hormones • Diet • Vitamins and minerals essential for thyroid function • Detoxification. Now, back to your thyroid. The thyroid has an enormous need for natural iodine. This was once readily available in our food supply, but it no longer is because of poor agriculture, GMO growing of foods, and common practices, including the spraying of dangerous substances such as mercury and aluminum on soils. An abundance of natural iodine is necessary for your thyroid’s biochemical structures. If you do not get enough of it, your thyroid can malfunction. And of course, one consequence of this malfunction is weight gain—which no amount of pharmaceutical thyroid drugs will ever be able to correct. Note that it is absolutely crucial to work with a knowledgeable healthcare practitioner who knows how to test for and reverse iodine deficiency, not just a doctor who will thoughtlessly prescribe drugs. What Happened When I Took a Raw Thyroid Supplement

06:21
In January, I discovered over-the-counter raw thyroid supplements and experimented with one particular one for a few weeks. At first, it seemed like a true godsend, but problems started surfacing later. Then I did a blood test and realised that things were actually getting worse. Only recently, with a better understanding of adrenal and cortisol issues, I finally understood why the raw thyroid supplement wasn't a good match for my body. This video isn't meant to scare you off from trying similar supplements. It's meant to encourage you to research and test yourself better before trying powerful supplements like this. If you're experiencing underactive adrenal glands and low cortisol in addition to low thyroid, a supplement like this could be amazing for you. But if you have high cortisol like me, be careful! I really hope this will help you out in your own thyroid healing journey. My Story of Struggles with Hormonal Imbalances

07:40
My name is Magdalena Wszelaki. I'm the founder of Hormones Balance http://HormonesBalance.com - a nutrition practice dedicated to help women rebalance hormones naturally. I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I received my education from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. Before becoming a health coach, I had a long, fast-paced career as a strategic planner for the advertising powerhouse called WPP in both Asia and the US. I am also a regular Vipassana (insightful) meditation practitioner and a Level II reiki healer (a form of energy healing). My own journey with health issues and the failure of the medical world to adequately address them started with Graves' Disease (an autoimmune condition that causes hyperthyroidism) in 2001, later Hashimoto's Disease in 2008 (an autoimmune conditions that causes hypothyroidism) and adrenal fatigue stage 2. In 2012 I was diagnosed with estrogen dominance and high heavy metal toxicity. Every part of my journey made me wiser, kinder and more patient. Today I'm in remission from Graves' and Hashimoto's, my adrenals feel rested and I have managed to reverse estrogen dominance (see my lab work scans and details on http://HormonesBalance.com/About). I feel better today as a 40-year-old woman than I did in my twenties. As part of this exciting, often frustrating and self-discovering journey, I founded Thyroid Diet Coach (http://ThyroidDietCoach.com), a highly successful nutrition coaching practice helping women with thyroid conditions to heal and thrive. Hormones Balance is the expansion of my practice. Every part of my healing journey had elements of significant dietary and lifestyle changes. I now believe in good, clean food and no restricted dieting. The key focus of my work lies in the restoration of the digestive system, balance of a person's sugar levels, liver detoxification and emotional wellbeing, like self-love. I don't believe in supplements and miracle powders. I put my trust in the healing powers of real food, sleep and emotional healing. If you go to this website (http://HormoneBalance.com), you will learn how to use food and sound lifestyle changes to help you reclaim your hormonal balance. My practice is driven by my passion to give you hope, knowledge, and direction to self-heal so you get your energy, weight, hair, joy and optimism where you always wanted them to be.

Cause of Hypothyroidism According to Traditional Chinese Medicine

02:01
http://www.acunyc.com/services/thyroid-disease Dr. Feng Liang discusses the cause of Hypothyroidism according to traditional Chinese medicine. She explains how this disease is caused by stress and primarily affects women even though men also have this disease. When the thyroid hormone goes down, a person then develops hypothyroidism. Dr. Liang has successfully treated many patients with hypothyroidism. You can read some of the testimonials from patients who have hypothyroidism and have been treated by Dr. Liang. Please note that Dr. Liang does not cure hypothyroidism. However, she can dramatically improve the quality of a person's life, help them to reduce the amount of Synthroid that they take (thereby limiting the long-term side-effects of the medication) and help in some instances avoid radiation therapy and the removal of the thyroid gland. http://www.acunyc.com

If I Have No Thyroid, Do I Have to Take Thyroid Hormones (Synthroid)?

Get Dr. Berg's Keto and IF Summary pdf: https://m.me/drericberg?ref=w1162195 Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY Dr. Berg talks about if you need thyroid hormones if you have no thyroid gland. The answer is yes, but try to find a natural thyroid hormone because it makes multiple hormones. The T4 and T3 hormones are only made by the thyroid but coverted by the liver so it's not just a matter of taking thyroid hormones, its a matter of them being effective, so if your liver or gallbladder are a problem, then you may have thyroid hormones, but they are not becoming activated. Does Cytomel Help with Weight Loss? Dosing guide + How to use it

21:54
Cytomel is a thyroid medication which contains T3. T3 is the active thyroid hormone which is responsible for the majority of actions related to your thyroid. That means T3 directly stimulates increased energy production, increased fat burn and increased metabolism. Through these mechanisms, and many others, cytomel and T3 can actually help certain thyroid patients to lose weight and feel better. Patients who should consider using T3 include: - Those with high reverse T3 levels. - Those with insulin resistance, leptin resistance or obesity. - Those with a history of bipolar disorder or depression. - Those with a history of fibromyalgia or chronic pain. - And lastly, those patients who have failed T4 only medications like synthroid or Levothyroxine. In this video I also outline how to use T3 and how to titrate your dose. How To Lose Weight With Hypothyroidism

05:12
For more details, click here: http://dietvsdisease.org/how-to-lose-weight-with-an-underactive-thyroid/ To subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/DietvsDiseaseOrg?sub_confirmation=1 Losing weight and keeping it off can be a struggle. Especially if you have an underactive thyroid. Your metabolism has slowed down and you’re almost always feeling tired. In this video we're looking at 4 steps required to successfully lose weight with hypothyroidism. TITLE - How To Lose Weight With Hypothyroidism Slide - 1. Optimise Your Thyroid Medication If your medication is not helping to correct thyroid hormone levels, as well as relieve symptoms, then weight loss goes from difficult to impossible. Determine what type of medication is better for you, and also find the optimal dose required. While Levothyroxine is on average more effective, dessicated thyroid is a useful alternative that is reportedly much better tolerated. There is no difference between taking your thyroid hormone meds in the morning vs evening. Choose whatever is easier for you to have it on a fasting stomach. SLIDE 2. Cut Back on Added Sugars and Refined Starches I need to begin with this clarification: Carbohydrates are not inherently bad for you. That is, they do not make you fat or sick on their own. That said, carbs in the form of added sugars and highly refined starches are unhealthy and unnecessary. They offer almost zero nutritional benefit and make up a large portion of the excess calories we consume. Cutting back on added sugar is the most simple and direct way to cut out excess “empty” calories. This is done by limiting intake of junk foods, flavoured drinks, alcohol, white bread, most cereals, and a good portion of packaged food in your supermarket’s “health food” aisle. Now it’s unrealistic (and unfair) to expect yourself to completely avoid added sugar every day of the year. But you need to begin taking actionable steps that help you cut back and form healthier habits. Start by not having junk foods at home, or at least keep them out of sight in a cupboard you never use. 3. Base Meals Around Vegetables and Protein If you want to lose weight with an underactive thyroid, vegies and a source of protein should be the foundation of almost every meal you make, and plated first when serving. The main benefit of protein is that it’s much more satiating than both fat and carbs. That means it has a unique ability to reduce appetite and therefore your overall caloric intake too. STUDY - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8862477, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15466943 Studies show high protein diets may also reduce obsessive thoughts about food by 60% and cut desire for late-night snacks by half (3, 4). Foods high in protein include meat, seafood, eggs, nuts, legumes (beans) and dairy. Protein is also the muscle-building nutrient, so a high protein diet complements regular exercise. Nutrient-dense meals are even more important for those with hypothyroidism and other autoimmune diseases, where nutrient absorption and deficiency are more common. Emphasis goes to green leafy vegetables, mushrooms and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. As a general guide, the protein portion of your meal should be the size of your palm, and salad/vegetables the size of your hand. This would leave about 1/4 or less of your plate for healthy carbs if you so choose (such as rice or potato). 4. Increase Your Intake of Selenium and Zinc Selenium and zinc are two critical nutrients directly involved in thyroid function and metabolism. Selenium is an essential mineral that helps the body to recycle iodine. That’s the reason the thyroid has the highest selenium content (per gram of tissue) of all our organs. It’s thought that low selenium levels contribute to hypothyroidism through alternate mechanisms related to iodine. For this reason it’s fundamental to eat a diet that contains many selenium-rich foods, such as: Brazil nuts Tuna and sardines Beef and chicken Eggs Legumes Zinc is an essential mineral required to regulate TSH, which is a hormone from the brain that controls how much thyroid hormone your thyroid produces. In fact, the metabolism of zinc and thyroid hormones are closely interlinked, which is why a deficiency can lead to alopecia (hair loss). While zinc deficiency is very uncommon in the developed world, it’s still recommended to eat a variety of zinc-rich foods (8). This includes: Oysters and shellfish Beef and chicken Legumes, nuts and seeds Milk and yoghurt. Okay so I hope you found those 4 tips useful... In all honesty I've only JUST scratched the surafce here, there are certainly more steps to follow on after these ones. To find out more you can click the link in the description or on the youtube card where I've written about hypothyroidism and much more detail. Dietitian: Joe Leech (MSc Nutrition)

9 Thyroid supplements Every Hypothyroid Patient Should Consider Using

36:41
Thyroid supplements (if used correctly) can help boost your thyroid function, help with weight loss and help you feel better. The problem comes with knowing WHICH supplements to take and at WHAT dose. It takes over 13 nutrients to create thyroid hormone, convert T4 to T3 and sensitize the cellular receptors to T3. Many thyroid supplements cram all of these nutrients into a supplement and call it "good". This is the WRONG approach to take. Instead basing your supplementation off of the needs of your body is far superior. That means using lab work and other markers to find what nutrients you need in what doses. 9 Thyroid supplements that I find most hypothyroid patients are deficient in: 1. Vitamin B12 - Thyroid hormone is involved in the proper absorption of thyroid hormone. See the video for a complete list of symptoms. Repleting low vitamin B12 is best done through sublingual or intramsucular injections. 2. Adrenal support - Most thyroid patients also have issues with cortisol dysregulation. If you have advanced adrenal fatigue most patients do better on adrenal glandulars. For more mild disease consider using adrenal adaptogens. If your cortisol is elevated consider using phosphatidylserine. 3. Zinc - Low levels of zinc can cause issues with your skin and issue with hair growth. Adding zinc boosts immune function, T4 to T3 conversion and acts as an anti inflammatory. Make sure to supplement with zinc bound to picolinic acid. 4. Iron - This is what I consider a "goldilocks" nutrient in that you don't want TOO much or TOO little. Unfortunately most doctors look for iron deficiency anemia and don't necessarily jus treat iron deficiency unless anemia accompanies it. Use these optimal levels to supplement with iron. 5. Magnesium - Hypothyroidism alters magnesium and low levels of magnesium can lead to issues like depression, anxiety and other changes like muscle cramps or restless leg syndrome. Replace low levels with magnesium glycinate, magnesium citrate if you have constipation or magnsium threonate if you have neurological issues. 6. Selenium - This nutrient is involved in the thyroid conversion process. Not only that but supplementing has been shown to reduce TPO antibodies and boost the immune system. In addition using iodine with selenium can help reduce negative side effects. 7. Probiotics - Up to 20% of thyroid conversion happens in the gut and inflammation can reduce this number. Hypothyroidism sets up the gut for imbalances that lead to inflammation. Using probiotics can help improve your GI function. 8. Digestive enzymes - Hypothyroidism leads to low stomach acid which can predispose patients to malabsorption of certain nutrients. Using enzymes can help digest your food, increase nutrient absorption and if taken in between meals may promote the breakdown of immune complexes. 9. Iodine - If used correctly iodine can be helpful in boosting thyroid function. The thyroid hormone is made up of iodine moieties and low levels of iodine can reduce the amount of functioning thyroid hormone in the body. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/thyroid-supplements/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Most Thyroid Issues Are Secondary to Other Problems

07:30
Take Dr. Berg's Body Type Quiz: http://bit.ly/BodyTypeQuiz Dr. Berg talks about the thyroid gland and what could be the potential thyroid problems (it is mostly secondary). The thyroid symptoms include hair loss, dry hair, loss of eyebrows, abnormal thyroid glands and hormones, all these are caused due to low thyroid levels in the body. Dr. Berg discusses about the major thyroid problems and their associated thyroid treatment. The main cause for thyroid issues is liver and gall bladder. The next possible cause of thyroid symptoms could be the adrenals. In this case you can have either high quantity of thyroid (hyper thyroid) or low quantity of thyroid (hypo thyroid), both if which are triggered by high amount of stress levels. The third most probable cause could be ovaries. In this case the estrogen depletes the activity of thyroid over time which causes a thyroid disorder. It is very rare that you have primary thyroid problem. Dr. Berg explains the root cause and how to make your thyroid come back. Thyroid Success Story Without Medication

01:56
Dr. Goodbinder from the Epigenetics Healing Center in Overland Park, KS has helped patients with thyroid, hypothyroid and other thyroid issues get off their Synthroid and other Thyroid medications and back to living normal lives. See more success stories here: http://drgoodbinder.com/ Thyroid Success Story "I got a reference from another doctor to see Dr. Goodbinder. I was having some thyroid issues and not feeling well, even on my synthroid, so I came to him to help fix that. I just wasn’t feeling well and also found that I had a nodule on my thyroid that was very large. The doctor was wanting to remove it and actually just remove my whole thyroid and do a surgery and biopsy on it. I really wasn’t comfortable with that, so I wanted to come and talk to Dr. Goodbinder and get his opinion because I know he’s the expert when it comes to that. My life after doing Dr. Goodbinder’s program has changed a lot. I feel better, I look better. I sleep really well at night. It’s just a different feeling. It feels like you can do anything when you wake up and just jump out of bed, or when you work out and feel like you can just keep going and going. I recommend this program to anyone. I think people should know that a prescription medication from a doctor isn’t necessarily the only way to go. There’s different methods where you can feel better than just going to a regular prescription and going on your way and hoping that makes you feel better. It has to do with your whole body. You can’t just concentrate on one area. Dr. Goodbinder is really great at the whole body, not just thinking about “Oh, your thyroid’s doing this. Here’s a medication.” It’s, “Your body’s doing this. Here’s what we can do for you in this program.” View More Here: http://drgoodbinder.com/client-success-story-thyroid/ Are you ready to start making positive changes in your life that will have you feeling better and healthier? Does the Ketogenic Diet Cause Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

04:18
Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtYDr Dr. Berg talks about the thyroid. In past videos he mentions that hypothyroid conditions are usually secondary to high estrogen or liver or gallbladder issues, since T4 (inactive thyroid hormone) converts to T3 (active thyroid hormone) in the liver - about 80% of it. The rest is converted by the kidney. If TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is high, this means the thyroid is low. If TSH is low, then this means the thyroid is high, making too many hormones. When people tell you keto and intermittent fasting worsens the thyroid, realize that it's not a worsening of thyroid, instead its the thyroid becoming more efficient and your body needing less thyroid hormones. Glyphosate from GMO foods acts as a toxin to cause a dysfunction to your detoxification systems of the body, esp. the liver. This then can trigger an immune condition (autoimmune) - Hashimotos. To avoid this condition, start doing organic foods. TEST GLYPHOSATE: https://detoxproject.org/glyphosate-testing-test-yourself/ INTERESTING RESEARCH & DATA: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3945755/ http://www.naturalendocrinesolutions.com/articles/does-glyphosate-have-a-negative-effect-on-thyroid-health/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23046013 http://thyroidnation.com/glyphosate-ruining-your-gut-triggering-autoimmune/ https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/pesticide-use-thyroid-disease/ https://academic.oup.com/aje/article/171/4/455/157410 https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/posts/135689340/hashimotos-study Hi guys, today we are going to talk about the thyroid In the past videos I talked about the real underlying cause of thyroid, it is either too much estrogen because estrogen has affinity for the thyroid that blocks it coming from the ovary, the environment, being pregnant or the liver gallbladder. Let’s say the liver is dysfunctional or the gallbladder is not working and you can’t convert this hormones because T4 cannot convert to T3 unless the liver and the gallbladder is really healthy. But I want to give you the basics first, thyroid stimulating hormone is made by the pituitary gland in your brain and is sent down to the thyroid to basically tell the thyroid to make its hormones. If the thyroid stimulating hormone is high that means the thyroid is low, it is a hypo and it is not connecting because it can start increasing the communication to try to drive it through. After losing my gallbladder I started eating way less fat and lots more carbs. That was what made me gain an additional 25 pounds over the last year. Enough is enough! I am using intermittent fasting and high fat almost no carbs to lose this weight and regulate my blood sugar levels. I believe this will also help with my hormones and therefore the thyroid problems I have had. "30 Days to Loving Yourself" link: https://sellfy.com/p/UFbk/ "30 Days To Loving Yourself: Daily Tasks For Overcoming Self-Hate, Anxiety, & Stress" is a 30 day plan, filled with daily tasks designed to completely change your life, one step at a time, one day at a time. Just like you, I know what it’s like to look in the mirror every day and not particularly like what I see. Not just on a physical level, but also on a mental and emotional level. At some point in your life, or maybe it was ever so slowly, you started to change. Things got different. Over time, you slowly started to lose your excitement for your life and for who you are as an individual. Years ago, the same thing happened to me. I went through a very difficult time and I no longer had the vigor for life that I used to. Things just felt “off.” Every day would just drag along, I was always waiting for the next best thing to happen in my life, living for the weekends (only to do nothing on the weekends), feeling self-pity and dreaming of a better, more happy, fun life, the life like I “used to” have or I “could have” or like someone else had if things could only change. I dealt with low self-esteem, low self-confidence, self-hate, anxiety, worrying, always wanting this or that, never being content, living in the past and day-dreaming of the future when things would change and I would finally be happy. I kept thinking if things were different, or like they used to be, then all my problems would go away. I believed that if I could only have this or if that certain thing could change in my life then my life would finally be different. But that wasn't the case, and along the way I figured out the secret. There was one key that unlocked the door to me loving my life, loving myself, and beating the anxiety and stress once and for all. There was one thing I had to do to see results. And that's what this book is all about - it's a guide to help you get to that point. It's 30 days of tasks that I have implemented in my own life to make me successful in finally, genuinely, loving myself and my life. Finally waking up every single day with joy and happiness, stress-free and excited for the day. Finally accepting my body, accepting where I am in life, loving my job, the place I lived, the things I did every day, and my relationships. Finally loving my life. The point of this book is for you to learn to truly loving yourself, your life, your body, your job, your relationships, the things that happen with you day-to-day, not someone else's. It's about you learning to cope with certain situations, accepting certain things, and creating the right habits that will change your life. And I can promise you, if you commit to the 30 days, you will undoubtedly see a change. And not just any change, but a drastic change. Does Levothyroxine Cause Weight Gain? What to do if it is slowing down your metabolism

22:11
Does Levothyroxine cause weight gain? That is the question I am going to answer in this video today. Here is a common problem: patients with hypothyroidism present to their doctor, get put on T4 medication like Levothyroxine or Synthroid and they CONTINUE to gain weight - despite no change in their diet or exercise routine. How can this be? In this video I answer what I think is going on in many patients and it has to do with T4 to reverse T3 conversion when certain patients are given medications that contain T4 only. In the setting of inflammation, trauma, infections, liver/kidney issues, low calorie diets and nutrient deficiencies the body can take T4 and convert it into the thyroid blocking metabolite reverse T3. High levels of reverse T3 then compete for binding at the T3 cellular receptor site and put the brakes on thyroid and metabolic function. So how do you treat this condition? Most patients will need medication containing T3 like natural desiccated thyroid or liothyronine/cytomel to "flush" the system. I also give several tips that I use in my office to help boost thyroid function if your doctor isn't willing to give you medication with T3 in it: 1. Optimize T4 to T3 conversion - I recommend you consider using Zinc or selenium: As promised here is the link to the zinc and selenium that I use in my office: Zinc: http://amzn.to/2aXp4Fg Selenium: http://amzn.to/2aHjTc5 2. Fix your adrenals - Consider using adrenal adaptogens or adrenal glandulars Here's what I use: DSF: http://amzn.to/2aC8l6d 3. Add high intensity exercise - To help lower insulin and leptin levels 4. Reduce inflammation and find hidden sources of inflammation - the easiest first place to look is at your diet 5. Lower leptin and insulin levels - It will be impossible to lose weight with leptin resistance and/or insulin resistance and both conditions reduce T4 to T3 conversion. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/levothyroxine-weight-gain/ You can read more on my website here: http://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. How To Treat Hypothyroidism - Hypothyroidism

00:35
How To Treat Hypothyroidism - Hypothyroidism How To Treat Hypothyroidism - HypothyroidismWebsite:http://stophypothyroidism.gr8.com Understanding Hypothyroidism, Hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland stops producing the thyroid hormone. When this happens, people usually start to feel tired, have less energy, and may notice other side effects as well. However, hypothyroidism solutions are fairly easy to treat once diagnosed. The most effective treatment is to simply take a thyroid supplement. Generally, the first weeks of treatment will result in rapid improvements and people will start to notice that they have more energy. In some cases, it may take longer for some people to respond to this solution. Individuals who are older as well as anyone in poor health may notice that their recovery is sluggish. However, by maintaining consistent treatment, this condition will begin to improve gradually. In some cases, it may not be necessary to take hypothyroidism medication forever. Many times, hypothyroidism is caused by an injury or infection and once treated, a person will return to full health. It may also stop working as a side effect of a current medication. In these cases, it may be recommended to find an alternate medication and allow the thyroid to function normally. While hypothyroidism is a condition that is very easy to treat, it is important to diagnose and treat this condition as soon as possible. When you go for a long period of time without being diagnosed you may notice that you have trouble doing daily activities, gain weight, and generally don't enjoy life as much. However, these side effects can all be treated and prevented with the medications available today. By supplementing thyroid hormone in the body, you don't have to worry that you're not going to be able to have a normal life. Hypothyroidism is actually a fairly common condition that occurs in many people, but can be treated both easily and effectively with today's solution. My Website:http://www.25dollarblogsetup.com/

5 Tips for Weight Loss after Thyroidectomy: What your Doctor is Missing

25:19
Weight loss after thyroidectomy can be almost impossible unless you know exactly what to look for and how to treat it. It's considered "normal" to gain 20 pounds after thyroidectomy and Doctors tell patients that this is normal and in the same breath then say that the thyroid isn't causing the weight gain. How can this be? It is possible to lose weight after thyroidectomy but it takes a very different approach. Eating less and exercising more will NOT lead to significant weight loss if you've had a thyroidectomy or your thyroid ablated with radioactive iodine. Instead you need to be focusing on hormone imbalances that lead to weight gain. I've also included a diet guide to follow in addition to the following 5 tips which I explain in detail in the video. 5 Tips for weight loss after thyroidectomy: 1. Get on the right type and dose of thyroid medication - for most patients this means a combination of T3 and T4. So medications like cytomel or liothyronine in addition to levothyroxine/synthroid or the use of natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) will most likely be necessary. 2. Increase your free T3 - you need to be doing whatever is in your power to naturally increase your free T3. The more t3 you can in your system the higher your metabolism will be and the more weight you will lose. 3. Balance all other hormones in the body - I list several hormones, but the main ones I want you to focus on are insulin resistance and leptin resistance. Until these 2 are treated it will be almost impossible for you to lose weight. 4. Be strict with your diet but don't restrict calories - one of the worst things you can do is restrict your calories down to 1,000-1,200 calories per day. This will cause high reverse T3 levels and further reduce your metabolism. Instead be strict with WHAT you put in your mouth but don't restrict your calories. 5. When you have energy make sure you make exercise count - that means a combination of low intensity daily plus high intensity 1-3x per week. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/weight-loss-thyroidectomy/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Byetta Weight Loss - 42 pounds over 3 months with NDT + T3 + Byetta with Before/After pictures

28:06
Do you have hypothyroidism and insulin resistance? This case study is from my practice and in this video I walk you through a patient who was able to lose 42 pounds over three months using Byetta, Natural desiccated thyroid and T3 containing medication. The problem with weight loss is that most patients approach it all wrong. They believe that eating less and exercising more will lead to long lasting weight loss and it just isn't true. Instead patients and Doctors should be focusing on hormone imbalances that lead to weight loss resistance. The top three most common hormone imbalances that lead to weight loss resistance include: 1. Thyroid resistance 2. Insulin resistance 3. Leptin resistance Many patients do know that they have hypothyroidism but many miss out that they have both insulin and leptin resistance, and that's why I made this case study. The unfortunate part is that certain medications like the GLP-1 agonists can help reverse insulin and leptin resistance. These medications are primarily used for type II diabetes but a subgroup of obese, non diabetic women (with high leptin levels) respond very well to this medication and can lose a significant amount of weight. In this case study I also show you what it takes in terms of diet, exercise, medications, hormones and supplements to help hypothyroid patients with insulin resistance lose 40 pounds. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/thyroid-weight-loss/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice.
