Mothballs keeps snakes away and a gun keeps strays away.

For the bugs, try 'Skin So Soft'. Next time thru Tennessee, another great area is north of Crossville in the Big South Fork National Area and Recreation Area.

You are so brave and pretty. I admire your courage and genuine spirit. If you ever decide to come to Michigan, I'll be delighted.

People are so lovely

Forgot to add, you’d like Conte Mtn, with Conte Lodge up in east TN, Pigeon Forge?? area. You can’t drive up to it, it’s hiking only which you’d need reservations for room and food. Three hiking trails to get up there, longest trail is easiest, shortest trail is hardest. Look it up for photos, newsletter, and other info. Contelodge.com

Love ❤️ this area, I lived in Hermitage TN 26 yrs then moved back home to Alabama, but it’s on east side of Nashville/Davidson Co. Cookeville/Crossville are parts of the state the early settlers founded, and the hero in WWI (can’t think of his name but he captured many Germans) lived further north in the mountains towards KY. But another beautiful area!

HI when I first started watching your channel a few months ago I came across this video out of order I guess, but now that I am up this date (in order) it makes sense now! So I didn't mind watching it again!

Tennessee looks quite beautiful... if only the did not have tornadoes. Tornadoes seem to head right for RV parks : (

Cool spot. I've been searching Google for a screen tent like that. Maybe that's too big. I have a little Kia Sportage SUV and the back comes up. I'm looking for something to hang off the back and have the other 3 sides to the ground. Anything out there like that? That doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Randall Grant (1 month ago)
You could utilize a "Head Net" works great in any area with many pesky flying bugs. That site sounds (and looks) to be almost perfect, I mean, that man came by and mowed a wide path to your tent! Pretty special

Yea, TN is definitely not "East coast." And oh boy, please buy a trimmer for those pits=)
Wendy Lou (2 months ago)
Nothing against the East Coast but I do believe Tennessee is considered southern. It's a southern thang...y'all 😉 And for some reason we fiercely defend it. Oh, ands the bugs...you wouldn't have even said your location and I'd have known you were somewhere in the South. Big Oaks, Big bugs, but BIG hearts ❤❤❤
Dee Sorrento (2 months ago)

Your Drone footage is Spectacular !! You find the most amazing places! Very nice of the kin-folk to help you out, mow you out an area and invite you for showers and dinner. Friendly Tennessee folk ! Just like in Arkansas. I Love Arkansas!
Kathy Hedden (3 months ago)
Me and my hubby live on the East Coast on the Jersey Shore in a town called Keansburg, NJ. We got alot of campsites around here. There's one in Freehold, NJ called Timberlakes that me, hubby and our kids used to camp there with our other Keansburg friends. We used to call it the loop. Plus in South Jersey in Tuckerton there's campsites and in Wildwood and Atlantic City. Come back here in the summer and check them out. Timberlakes is right near a big amusement park called 6 flags Great Adventure. Its a fun place to go. Come back you'll have a blast in the summer here. Boardwalks are open and so are the beaches.
Willie (3 months ago)
Chiggers - Ugh They always go for the "warm spots". If you ever get the chance Carolyn, try the Missouri/Arkansas Ozarks (if you haven't already) but run if you hear banjos. Good luck - Willie

When you have people like that helping you or offering to help you then your as safe as can be. Once people meet you and know your a good person just camping then they watch out for you....Nice video
NicNic (3 months ago)
Yep we have all three of the snakes you named in TN! The chiggers are HORRIBLE (originally from Miami).... never have gotten used to those bugs. Bless his heart, what a sweet gentleman.

Skin so Soft lotion from Avon will keep 90% of the bugs away. And the other 10% can be taken care of by spraying a bug repellent with Deet in it on your clothes. A little tip.

Chiggers are the worst... When I was a kid we would fill the toe of a sock with sulphur and use that to powder our ankles before going out in the grass. New sub from Texas; I am interested in the RV/Van life.

Hi Carolyn, I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed your videos. They are a terrific window into a fascinating lifestyle, and it is brave and generous of you to share your life with us. Hope you and Capone are having a warm winter. I'm currently snowbirding in Florida in a 26 foot TT while my home state (MIchigan) is caked in ice. I just hit the subscribe button, so I expect to hear more about your RV Life soon! Take care, up keep up the great work. -- Milo

What a great idea ma'am. Your drone. It might even be handy from a safety aspect as well. You can check out your immediate area just to make sure nothing stands out. I just stumbled upon your video. What lovely folks you stumbled upon. We all could use the reminder. We've been forced to be so distrusting and defensive with one another so often that we've lost a little of our humanity. It's always good to remind ourselves not everyone is a concern or not kind until they prove otherwise all the time. I'll be sure to remember that if I'm ever in a position to offer my assistance with anything if it's needed to someone RVing in the future as well. And it is a pretty spot. I agree. Take care out there
Swampwitch99 (4 months ago)
I've lived all over the Eastern United States, The Mid-West, and New England. One of the places I stayed the longest was in Nashville. I was there for more than twenty years and there are some truly great people there. It's beautiful too. It's not quite as "red" in central TN as it is in the rest of the state and sometimes I think that makes a small difference when it comes to feeling at home for a lot of people, at least in the beginning. I don't think I've met anyone who has even just spent a small amount of time there that didn't love it... people somehow inherently know there's something special there.

Nice video
paula null (4 months ago)
New, just a couple of FYI's: Don't wear and perfume of other flowery scents outside, it attracts some of the dang bugs.  Clear nail polish also kills and stops the itch of chiggers.  It worked for us for years and may still be doing the job.  Bright red polish works too but looks funny.  :)   DO WEAR BOOTS.  And get that kit for snakebite that Sparky's Cove talked about. (check to see if it helps dogs too.)  You have landed amongst nice people please thank them for us because sometimes we worry about you too.

Camper Hollow (5 months ago)
That's a nice area. Too bad there are so many bugs, but that's how it is in the south. If you head north during the warmer months there aren't as many bugs.

Your degree of introspection and willingness to undergo psychological self- analysis and therapy are remarkable! The experience you had with typical Southern Folkways transformed your entire self. Better late than never. Doesn't it feel wonder-ful...as in full of wonder? Thanks for sharing this bit. (I love the Outlaw Dogs! Bonnie, Clyde and Al.)

Just commented on your video when you were stuck in sand and people never helped. I said we aren't like that in Australia. Now I see this video, and the mower man , the Ranger, and others were super helpful. Guess there is good and bad everywhere.

It’s nice to know they are still nice people in the world. I have a sister in TN. I think they might be one stop light in the town she lives in. Her hubby passed away several years ago while chasing his horses while on a 4 wheeler. I must say, it was the most amazing funeral I have ever experienced. They placed his casket on a flatbed 18 wheeler and took it to the top of a hill where they then placed him on a horse and wagon, actually two horses. They proceeded to the Family Plots. All I could say was WOW. Amazing. Still loving your video’s. Come to think of it you are the one that got me hooked on You Tube. I’m not a camper but wish I was. Sometimes I watch your’s as well as other videos and get jealous because I know I would love that style of living. I’m so glad the folks took care of you. God Bless and I look forward to seeing more.

I can tell your from California, by your videos lol white privilege ball bat and pepper spray. why don't you park in the hood then tell me about white privilege.
Carolyn's RV Life (5 months ago)
Interesting perspective. Since you asked, here's a little story: I used to live in 'the hood' with gang activity right outside my front door and a young man shot and killed a few hundred yards from bedroom window. And one day I was driving home and followed home by a cop, as soon as they saw me get out of the car, they turned around and drove away.. I was one of only a few white people in that neighborhood. Why do you think they suddenly decided to turn around after following me to my front door. Oh, and my neighbors embraced me and treated me with nothing but kindness and respect. In fact, one neighbor knew I was alone on Thanksgiving and brought me an entire dish of gumbo. Show less

I would be sleeping like a baby when it's raining out. Love that sound. Not a true fan of rain all the time, but that would be great. You are a brave and lovely lady. I have just found you and am enjoying the world through your eyes. Love Capone too. I would never travel the roads without a dog. :) That fellow was a real lovely person. It really restores my faith sometimes.

Sometimes I think not having family starting out in life is good. The things they do to you when you get old is really sad. Out of 7 siblings 2 are passed, one ran away when she was 14 , the two sisters left either stole from me or wished harm on my poor husband who has dementia. My two brothers do call now and then. So you really aren’t missing out on anything but a lot of crap and drama. Lol. I just blocked tele and FB. Actually life is so nice now, my pets and husband keep me busy. You are so very interesting and happy , I love following you. Merry Christmas honey , love your new rev. Hugs
