A genre that doesn’t have many standalone titles, the use of sniper rifles and sniping can be found in most First Person Shooters. Sniping games represent a complex physics based gaming mechanic which developers can have a field day recreating in-game. We tried to find games that really incorporated sniping in a big way we avoided including more then one title from a single franchise.

Why is everyone mentionning a Battlefield in the comments? It's like you keep forgetting titles such as CS, Battlefield, CoD, MoH and so on are purely arcade shooters. Just as well as Far Cry (which i honestly don't know why it was included in this video).
SInce i can remember, ArmA, ArmA 2 and ArmA 3 have always by default included at the very least gravity effects onto fired bullets (i.e., bullet drop). You don't even get that on most modern shooters because, again, they're arcade games.
The only thing that will test your accuracy on fps games is the quality and state of your PC specialy the GPU and specialy in high demading graphics games like Battlefield, better GPU better mouse movement, less erratic mouse movement, and less recoil nothing more. The majoritie of people don't realize that many of the shots they miss it was not because of them but their PC. They dont even know what is EPP and MarckC fix.
Also it says sniper games some of these are not sniper games. Yes they have a sniper in them as a choice but to me a sniper game is about sniping and mostly they have it in the title. And everyone stop saying battlefield if your going to mention them games then you may aswell include every game that has a sniper rifle in it. The title says sniper games and half these are not there just games with the rifle in so does that mean we call them shotgun games because they have one in.
well no luck for me i downloaded far cry 3 mostly for the usage of snipers but the ONLY problem that i found in the game other than my bad FPS ofc is.. no sniper/bow crosshair (which i downloaded the game for snipers in the first place)..
somebody kill me..
People will get defensive in my post no doubt but I see several big factors to a Great and Successful sniping game, bullet drop, (if there's actually bullet drop over distance), wind speed and direction, affects the path of the bullet and where it hits. Most these games you all mentioning like Battlefield are (IMHO more like CoD action fps games NOT sniping games) good sniping games and the ones ranked highest Sniper Elite and Sniper Ghost Warrior have the elements I mentioned, being a sniper is not just about running around and quick scoping people lol, Being a sniper is patience, thought and intelligence of taking into account the things I mentioned before bullet drop, wind speed etc and planning.
Thanks to this video, I now know that Sniper Ghost Warrior and Sniper Elite are different series and not different titles for the sequels. Till date, I thought this was the sequence: Sniper Ghost Warrior, Ghost Warrior 2, Elite, Elite 2 etc.
prefers bows to rifles for sniping - except for the Dragunov maybe. I loved the Project IGI games (yup, had a Dragunov in it). Sadly bows aren't done realistically though - more like basic rifles sniping (direct aim), no physics to speak of.
The problem with sniper rifles is noise - the Dragunov in real life is insanely loud. Bows are nicely silent.
In games the enemy is usually deaf apparently .... when one sees you they all rush at you but el zilcho reaction to the noise of shot after shot.
