idk if this is interesting but my mom booked a grab taxi and the driver came really fast. like under 5 mins. my mom asked, "omg why you so fast?" then the driver said that he just lived in the block beside our block. so he just came downstairs and drove us to our destination (:
For me will be the grab driver who rush at red light, his phone that time dont know why can't connect his data and it took him so long to get to my work place when he know that I was late he rush over the red light twice although I don't know did he get the speeding ticket or not but I will kindly say thank you and please don't rush when is red light.Another one will be the driver was driving me to work again but then he got a call from his sister school said that his sister are having high fever. He was not calm at all because he was thinking doing the job first or go to his family first he told me his sister is sick and is at school he was going to say another word I called him do me a favor go to your sister school first and when he brought his sister to hospital I realize I was already late but I don't blame although my boss scold me for more than 30 minutes hahaha well for this driver Your family is the top priority so take care
Hmmm in my side of complaints, since grab become the only apps on this line. They were like 3-5 mins away but after more than 6-10mins never come. Never pick up the phone call also never reply the msg. Totally different from last time. Now also got a lot of pattern one
Give us your opinions on teens/children trying to become "influencers" through outrageous actions, specifically Lil tay, that ABC(american born chinese) who has an asian mother......... I lowkey feel embarrassed that her mother is chinese because I feel like the general public opinion on chinese people is like conservative, well mannared and humble but I feel like the reputation of the chinese community is going down hill due to teens misbehaving in public........ worried af about the future of the chinese community😥
No, grab drivers are not obligated to ask a passenger for their preferred route. Grab fares are fixed no matter if there is a jam or not, thus most drivers will refer to the GPS to get you to your destination in the quickest route, because your fixed fare has been calculated based on that route. Be prepared to be charged $5 for additional distance if you insist on going by your own route. Making detours to avoid certain ERP gantries is not part of your grab driver's responsibility for you as they don't earn a single cent from your toll charges. As mentioned earlier, fixed fare(calculated based on shortest GPS route) = driver will take shortest GPS route(no choosing). Very much like when you're ordering a food delivery, you pay the delivery charge, you dgaf about the route the delivery rider takes to come to your place do you? It's the same delivery charge.
Grab fares are calculated by GPS, simply meaning, the obligation is to pick you from the GPS pin at Point A and ferry you to your Point B's GPS pin. This simply means if you decide to tell the grab driver to drop u anywhere as little as even 100m away from your original destination, the grab driver has every right to charge you with additional distance(min $5). Most drivers wouldn't tell you upfront about this additional charge, because who enjoys being told they will be charged extra? At the end of the trip, you are more likely to give the driver a lousy rating than not if they tell you about the extra charges(even when he's not in the wrong), so most drivers would just keep quiet.
If you prefer the flexibility of choosing your own routes, being able to change courses/destinations midway through your journey, having last-minute additional stops, than you should take a taxi. Taxi drivers are bound by law to always ask you what is your preferred route, because it's a metered-fare. On LTA's website, it is clearly stated, taxi drivers may not wait for you if you're not present once the driver arrives. Same rule applies to grab drivers, they are obligated to send you safely from the pick-up point you indicated and the destination you entered. They are not obligated to wait for you(simply because they do not earn anything while waiting), nor are they obligated to drive faster for you, or make detours to help you save on ERP. If you prefer to have a driver who will always be willing to wait for you and have no problems catering to any requests, please hire your very own personal chauffeur.
A metered-fare will always be the fairest way to charge such a service. You get stuck in a jam, the taxi driver gets stuck with you so the driver's time is compensated fairly. Fares are always very transparent when they are calculated via a meter.
Example: When you book a grab and for a fixed fare of let's say $12 but the journey takes 35-40mins to complete due to a terrible traffic jam, are these riders going to voice out and praise the driver? Because no way in hell would a 40min journey in a taxi only cost you $12.
If fares are always cheap, who will want to work for grab? You're always encouraged to take a taxi if you do not agree with grab's policy/prices. Try hailing a taxi during morning or evening rush hours, and compete with others directly for every cab that drives by. Staying in a secluded area full or condos and landed housing? Good luck walking out all the way to the main road to hail a cab. Or book a grab/taxi(booking fees apply), comfortably knowing you have secured a ride to your destination with little stress and someone will come directly to your doorstep to pick you up. It's a service, not a charity.
Think about it the next time you want to complain about a grab driver. It's not like they are earning big bucks.
There is no such thing as cheap yet A-Class Service. Get real.
I started out with uber but then jumped to grab cuz they are cheaper, but since uber no more, grab gotten more shitty. Many times the back seat smell of urine & smoke. Especially hate when the grab turnout to be a taxi driver & the taxi driver alway smell like the driver had smoked in the car & always have something to complain about especially about the sg politics & sg government. Also taxi driver always like to argue with you when they ask you which preferred way you like. If you not going to comply, dont ask la! I hate taking taxi either from the grab or comfort app cus the driver always want to talk nonsense asking personal question & complain. I like my ride to be peaceful
today I took grab to work. I set the location below my house. I was walking to the location from having lunch nearby. the grab driver didn't actually go below my house. he went across the street... lucky I saw him when I was across the street wanting to go below my house! good timing.
nice grab drivers allowed me to eat my breakfast in the car and he asked if the air-con was fine.
not so nice grab drivers lowkey mocked me for not knowing about what routes to take(i didn't have a preference) ... lol sorry?
Many times when I booked GrabHitch, the driver accepts my booking but they are still at home. Then, they would take 15 minutes or so to reach my location. So what I would suggest to drivers is, similar to passenger's etiquette, don't accept rides when they are not yet ready (on the road).
Once, the driver even asked ME to cancel the trip after 10 minutes of finding my location and failing. I tried contacting him but he just wouldn't respond. I wasn't late initially, but because of that, became super late. Also, my friend got hit on by another driver after the ride had long ended..
Charlotte Um but when you pick GrabHitch, it literally said there "book at least 10mins in advance". I think GrabHitch is for people who aren't rushing.... if you want immediate go for normal grab taxi/car.
I was on a malay grab driver’s car once with my friends, whn the driver know we are Chinese he legit change the radio from Malay channel to Chinese just for us and we asked if he understand chinese he said he doesn’t.
i was sitting behind the driver's seat when the driver suddenly pushes his sest all the way to the back, he even layed his seat backwards! And he also started smoking in the car where he put the sign "NO SMOKING". he put so many warning signs and he didnt even follow it himself!
My most unforgettable experience with Grab is one of my midnight trip to the airport. I booked the grab in advance, the driver accepted it without knowing it is a trip happening 3am in the morning. She told me on the way that she couldn't sleep as she was afraid that she might not wake up on time to send me to the airport and get me miss my plane in the end. We had a decent conversation about her story and mine. We end up encouraging each other and it is heart-warming.
LOL Grab sucks. Always have so much problems with it. Drivers don't even use their registered cars. They will call and say that their cars went for servicing or something and to look out for a different number plate. This to me is super unprofessional, I always feel very unsafe when this happens. Also to point out, I'm pretty sure most of their cars do not follow the "age range". When Grab was just starting out I had all good experiences with drivers, but not any more. You can really see the difference between Grab and Uber.
As a grab driver we have to manually add in the ERP toll at the end of the trip. Please understand that we are not trying to cheat your money. It gets even more tougher when the customer is paying cash, I have foreigner customer that refused to pay after explaining to them nicely..
The Grab app used to be so complicated compared to Uber. Really put me off using it. Not sure what it's like now. Still annoying to have to use Grab when many other major cities in the world are primarily Uber dominated
I was so freaked out once when I had a late night ride home and my driver was ranting smth he was angry abt and told me he has a knife and can kill anyone if he wants to. He also said he raped many women before. Sigh. I was so grateful I got home safely that day. But lodged a complaint about the driver.
iam not angry with my grabdriver because he slow or drop off another passenger, he left me and he doesnt pick me up at all, and we can't cancel it, and i have to wait 1 hour before the driver not yet drop off the passenger
true story: my grab driver was driving me to my friend's birthday party in a golf club. my grab driver was picking his ear and flinging it on his dash. he thought that I wouldn't see. disgusting and dirty. (I live in Malaysia and this is my grab story)
I had a driver go top up petrol and go toilet during my trip. The car also smell like crap. Had a headache from it and he was also driving very slow I think below normal speed limit like road hogging. Walaoeh.
I took grabshare, got into the car and i was the only passenger. So i asked the driver if he is going to pick up the other passenger (back then grab does inform if you are sharing the ride instead of giving an ambiguous sentence “You may be sharing this ride”) and he said “neh, right beside me”. I thought the driver was crazy as i was the only passenger. Not until he said the food. Apparently, a filial son booked grabshare to deliver dinner to his dad. We started talking normally after i managed to get a hold of what’s going on HAHA
I was quite scared when i was going back home when he said that some of the bridges in singapore are made of human heads thats why children are loss and sentosa is a ghost area cause there are three long things and it represents joss sticks so i am scared
Grab in Singapore is so different than in the Philippines 😂 we only have GrabExpress, GrabCar (6 seaters) and GrabTaxi.. but I guess regulations are also different here that's why we don't have GrabFamily or GrabHitch... :3 but the experiences are still very similar lmao and just like Aiken, I take Grab going home or going to school 😂😂
I met a really nice Grab driver once. I wanted to set behind but he asked me to sit upfront, abit creepy but i was alright with it. initially wanted to sleep through my journey but i had good conversations with the uncle. I was going to somewhere near the changi jetty point (all the way from NTU) so it took quite a while... also, the entrance into the place i was going was so far but he really made sure that i didn't have to walk too far from my spot. he drove in all the way even though the grab app had indicated that the location has arrived. i told him there's no need to turn all the way in because he needs to make a really huge u-turn if he did, but he said he'll do it for my convenience and it's his job. a very nice man and good conversations.
one time i took grab den the driver ask how old is my sis den my sis say 12 den the driver said wah psle dis year ah must study hard ah make ur family proud. He said alot of stuffs regarding psle through out the whole trip until we reach the destination. B4 we go out of the taxi the driver say rmb ah need study hard
i understand that grab have made our life’s easier and all. but as my father is a full time taxi driver, he struggle to earn a sufficient salary for living. and our familiy rely on him. i guess times have change so is the economy. but i hope taxi was still a thing:(
I ever picked up passenger who requested to go another location before their drop off destination and even stay for more than 15 minutes! and they don't even pay extra for adding drop location and have us waiting. C'mon guys, time is precious!
I'm just starting to drive with grab. I hope I don't get customers like mentioned in the video. I hope most customers are decent and reasonable. I don't encounter any issues with grab drivers as a passenger. So I hope it's the same when I'm ferrying passenger. 😥
Hi Rina, i drove uber and grab and all riders are same they wanted cheap and vip treatment, just greet and smile and confirmed the right rider. Asked them which route prefered by gps or theirs own route as long as not a siteseing route. Try not to start a conversation unless they talk to you cause some of them need privacy or non sociable. When you talked with them just let them hear what they want to hear. Don't care about the rating you going to get, if you think youare a5 star driver then you are.
I'm a driver. It's so frustrating everytime ppl set the wrong location...and nvr double check and when u drive all the way there the tell u they're not there, and also their drop off point they set a shorter distance than where they actually wanna go. There's once I actually pick up passenger that have two drop off points their 1st drop of point was a pet shop and they went in for 20+mins I have to wait till they're done shopping there only can go for the 2nd drop off point, and worse of all no tips...after they make me wait for 20+mins
I’ve had a pretty interesting short Grab ride on my way home. The drive was less than 20 mins and the radio station that the driver was playing was Kiss 92!!! It was my favourite radio station as it plays good songs from the old days. I was quite out of my age to enjoy old music but at that moment when I was in the cab, Kiss 92 started playing Don’t You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds from my favourite movie The Breakfast Club!!!!!! I couldn’t help it but to sing along to the song but my ride was over before the song ended. I was paying cash and the uncle gave me $1 discount just because we had similar music taste!!! I know it’s only $1 but it was just because we like the same kind of music! i was so happy that day and I couldn’t stop smiling. Hope that happens to me again some day! HAHA
In indonesia, there's a lot case of driver kidnaping the customer and mostly the victim is girls. They rob, sexually assault, even kills. But of course not every driver are same, but still it's kinda scary to ride grab just alone.
so far im happy with grab drivers in general. but there are always some black sheeps. For those peeps who condemned or refused to grab again after 1 unhappy incident, they are so shallow. There are still many good drivers out there. Not forgetting those Uber drivers that hv joined grab.
Feel that Rachel has improved over the few videos with NOC (although there aren't many). Jiayou even though you are new! I like your personality; feels genuine. Oh you look extra pretty with the floral off-shoulder dress and long hair! :) Where did you get the dress from ~
Download Ryde. Push it up as a competitor to Grab just like Uber in the past and make their sales/market drop. That is the only way Grab will face some challenge and bring back the promo codes. Else they will just stay as a monopoly market.
i took a grab hitch with a friend and the driver drove past sengkang general hospital ( still under construction) and the driver asked my friend “eh have you went into the sengkang hospital before?” LEL
