Mississippi is my home state even though I live in the Smokey mountains, my home town is Clarksdale, you've got to go !!!!! It's the home of the blues, you've got to go to Abe's barbeque, the ranch, moonlake, awesome food, ground zero......
Carolyn, as I have seen these videos in past but was brand new to U tube and could not figure out how to . Like nor comment on any of these I'm going back to give you a big LIKE. BOY, I CANT TYPE THIS MORNING AT ALL. LOL. LOL. LOL. I NEED MORE COFFEE.
I moved out to Jackson,MS from Arizona in 2016. WOW!!! What an eye opener. It has been very difficult because of the culture differences. I work out here and was brought here because of job. I have brought a difference to the people that I work with. And they in tune have changed me. I realize the absolute poverty of this place. It is heart breaking and I'm not sure how to help. I am working on it.
As always another great video. I am so envious of your life. Counting down the months until I can travel the USA. Don't think I ever commented on the changes you made to the inside of your rig. OMG LOVE LOVE LOVE! GREAT colors and a very homey feel to it. You and Capone have a great life. :)
Yes America's music birthplace: Elvis, BB King, Robert Johnson, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Pride, Conway Twitty, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Marty Stewart, Jimmie Rodgers and others! You need to go to Jeff Busby (Little Mountain) to camp. Its nice on the Trace between Jackson and Tupelo. You probably have been through the state enough to know there a many cultures and different places to see. Welcome to the Hospitality state!
You're giving Capone such a wonderful life, no sitting at home waiting while you're at the office. Instead he gets to be with you all the time and visit some great open places where he doesn't have to walk around on a leash all the time.
Mississippi is my home. I lived and worked in Vicksburg, MS and I also lived up in the Delta home of the blues. That campground name is pronounced just as you see it- Pela-hatchie (Pelahatchie). :-) I laughed at how you tried to pronounce it. LOL! Mississippi is truly a very beautiful state and the environment changes depending on what region you are in. You would love the tiny backroad small country towns up in the Delta. I lived in Cary MS, a town that if you blink your eye you've missed it. Anyway, I am just really excited to see you in my home state. I wish I was there now. Daggone Maine is a trap.
The alternator on your engine (when running of course) should be charging your "house batteries" and this should be a standard feature on a rig such as yours (motorhome) as well as any travel trailer through the tow vehicle plug (turn signals, brake, etc.).
Which leads me to believe one of two things could be wrong. The charging cable to your "house batteries" was inadvertently left disconnected during some sort of service or the battery "Isolator bridge" is bad which lead someone to disconnect it intentionally for the following reasons. The isolator bridge serves a very important purpose as It is intended solely to "isolate" your engine starting battery from the 'house" battery to prevent your "house" electrical system from draining the starting battery and thus leaving you stranded unable to start your engine.
The electrical cables I'm referring to should be among the largest cables in the system leaving them relatively easy to identify. The isolator bridge should be found under the engine compartment hood as it has to be installed between your engine alternator output and the two battery systems. It will be in the shape of an aluminum rectangle "block" with cooling fins and have three large wiring terminals. One leading back to the alternator output (usually the center terminal), one leading to your engine compartment wiring (starting battery) and the remaining terminal to your "house" battery inverter (the device that converts your shore power connection to DC voltage and is where that humming sound comes from when using shore power). It is at this device where your solar panels are also terminated.
If the isolator is there and has merely been disconnected, that would be a strong indicator the isolator was previously found to be bad. To test it, reconnect the wiring and disconnect the ground cable from your "house" batteries. If any of your living area interior lights will work, the isolator is bad and need replaced as it is drawing power from your starting battery.
On the other hand, if the isolator was bypassed directly from the alternator to the starting system, this would indicate it was failing to pass current from the alternator to either system and would again need to be replaced.
Everyday hand tools and possibly a small socket set would be required to perform this work. Typically an isolator should cost somewhere in the $60-$90 range and would be easily found online or at any RV or boat shop.
Note: This could also explain why your refrigerator wasn't working well as your house batteries would not be able to carry the load during your extended drive times to FL.
Have fun y'all and don't pass up them grits and cornbread while traveling the South,
Thanks for the the great video. I have been watching your videos for a while. I think they are all great..But I really did like the editing you did on this one...it was first class... the music... the shadow of you and Capone in the water,,,, awesome. I found your youtube channel by way of Bob and I really appreciate both of your youtube channels. Keep up the good work and just ignore negative comments. You have inspired me to get on the road,,,, thanks for all your hard work and mostly for sharing your life.
Hi Carolyn. Hope this isn't a double post. While I was commenting I hit a wrong key at just the right time to quit my comment. What I want to say is thanks for the Heart to Heart. I enjoy knowing that you're real. So am I. Your mistakes may be many but mine are too. So I can relate. My main reason for following you on YouTube is that I like to see where you go. I'd like to see a map of where you've been and maybe the routes you take. I'd like to go to some of those places. And I'm a real visual map sort of person. Meanwhile thanks for the videos. Have fun in the southeast.
As a Southerner, I cannot wait to explore more of the deep South. I've been through a lot of it on my way back and forth to NOLA when my son was living there, but haven't really stopped to visit. I remember that coming into MS from AL, it had the most beautiful welcome center on I-10 with a looooong porch with rocking chairs. I wish I had had time to sit a spell and rest, but had to get back on the road.
this is beautiful country! Love the water and the trees! Thanks for taking us along, there is beauty in all things and all areas of the USA including the desert and canyons, but in my opinion, the water and greenery is so much more peaceful and beautiful.
4 hours north is murdering Memphis,Tn. Stay away if you want to stay alive. I'm in Florida visiting my 3 sisters(cocoa) but daughter just called and said they found a body with no head, and a different head with no body. Choctaw Indian reservation is in pearl,ms. You might wanna check that out.
Carolyn, why is it that your batteries are drained after driving? My motorhome charges the house batteries and the coach while driving. Everyone I know who has a motorhome says the same thing. It sounds like there's something wrong with your setup.
A small converter and voltage regulator, wired from your alternator, will charge your battery while you drive. DON'T mount your solar panels, until you maintenance your roof. It probably needs to be coated if it never had been since it was new.
Thanks again Carolyn, What a Top Spot! While I may never get to these beautiful places that you video, your work still motivates me to "get outta the house" and smell the bush, it's early winter here in Australia, showers usually overnight, beautiful sunshine most days, definitely the best months of the year to enjoy the outdoors.
My music genre fav is Classical but I really enjoyed how your music choice in this video really fit the scene!! You always do a great job finding just the right music. I think you've found your thing, Carolyn.
You're in Jackson, Ms ??
Have you covered up your ca plates ?
Listen to what happened to this guy when he traveled thru Jackson, ms on a Sataurday night...
So glad you and Capone stopped here. I grew up camping in this area and can still reminder trying to catch fish with leftover hot dogs on a cane fishing pole in lakes just like this one. Haha! As a kid, it seemed logical that fish would like campfire hot dogs, too. Love the lush green and more affordable full hook up fees. ;) Currently out west where I'm thrilled to find a $35-40/night bargain. :) Wishing you Safe travels and friendly, dog loving folks along the way!
I thought it stood for rape and pillage. Banging and yelling is exactly what rappers do. Emily Dickinson is a poet. Snoop Dog is an idiot. And before someone calls me a racist, so is Vanilla Ice. Rap is not about music. It's about culture.
Lord willing I'll be crossing that Ms. bridge tomorrow. My solo travel has begun and the journey, adventure continues. Thanks to many women ,yes that's you, on YT. Sure a pretty CG and very reasonable for full HU's. Mid May weather is pleasant also in Al.
