The current task and problem is: We need a global comparable infrastructure measurement system. There still are no global standardized levels of infrastructure evaluation. This has to be made. Currently e.g. an E rating in one country might be a B rating in another. We at Trendquest are continously researching and analyzing global trends. One major topic since 2010 is analysis, forecasting and consultancy on infrastructure trends, needs and changes. Conclusion for us all the most important question for the value of our future economic growth: How do we solve global infrastructure problems? With decreasing birthrates and thus workforce in the western nations on short term we will need heavy automatization combined with engaging (and rewarding!) every citizen in surveillance watching the status and quality of buildings. bridges, dams and more infrastructural elements and places.

Dams destroy the river ecosystem like a blood clot for the heart. Dam problems? Dams are not as needed as they once were - we need to start deconstructing dams ASAP and re-wild the earth. Please get to the bottom of the problem rather than obfuscating it.

If you do not understand that infrastructure means Land Grab!!!! then you are blissful, willing sheep and probably deserve to lose everything in a gov`t ignited wildfire!!!........
Now imagine that he would have joked about dead negroes making a great foundation for a dam...we would be having a shitstorm going on.

Greetings from the future (2018). The infrastructure is SOL now that we have Trump in office.

I always have tho laugh when I look things like this, because Americans still think they are living in the “greatest country on earth”. I mean more like shittiest 1. World country on earth

Republican: Daddy worshipping, Traditionalist, Alchemy snorting, Syon living Rome Building Mother-F'ers The search for Anakin Skywalker continues. Go, Democrats! Remember what happened to the Roman Empire, my friends! It is right that America turns to a Democrat state. Say, bye, bye traditionalists for the sabers of truth are SMARTER and STRONGER. Republicans will be running like Luke and Leia...guns belong to Democrats and even Pythagoras had to tolerate Rome. These revolutionaries crave stability and would pass a thousand Republicans to achieve its appearance. We should show them that there is little stability in its embracing. Come to the Dark Side, Luke, and realize all is lost...for Babylon is filled with Democrats and Chemists building atomic bomb after bomb. Go back to Rome, Republican daddies, or embrace the dark side! I don't know about the plastic surgery and anal entry, but if you think it's a Democrat or Babylon perspective you should check history and maybe join the Republicans! There is something more traditional about gays and coke sniffers and plastic surgery in your closets. It just seems more like a bad choice or a mental illness or an evolutionary bug to me. We are cyborgs and A.I. and abstinence. Gonne straight, it's called. The "Devil's" vanity is a daily care affair and not a permanent lazy fix, but actually, we are all atheists here. Franklin said an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and I don't think you can conquer licentiousness. Too controversial and gross for Democratic viewpoints right now. That's the price you pay for those choices and I don't think it will even be accepted by Republicans. Do you expect chemists to drink their own bathtub product or carry their own musket pouders? This is about ENGINEERING and traditionally there is a legal world against it, which belongs to the Republican conservatives mostly. Engineering is connected to the PLANET and moves big CHANGE. They prefer the more traditional engineering is all and have a meandering tendency to "wash n' go." These republicans want "wash n' go" buildings even and traditional materials. This means new ionic, covalent and metallically bonded materials, thermochemistry breakthroughs and fuel cells outside very home.

We can re-act or we can pro-act. What do you think we'll do? 99% chance we'll only react. Here's a novel idea: Bundle all taxes into ONE federal sales tax. Not in favor of that? Imagine for a few moments the ADMINISTRATIVE costs to maintain/collect/distribute all these nickel and dime taxes. Were our elected officials to banish ALL taxes and simply collect an across the board sales tax (which NO ONE would be able to get out of - big business included) there would be one stream to monitor. Makes too much sense I know. It'll NEVER happen. Plus thousands of people would be forced to find other employment: Many accountants, the entire internal revenue "service" among others.

This is actually one of the things that keeps me up at night: people are really concerned about money and jobs, but don't have very strong traditions. I plan to become a programmer, just like my parents, and I was talking with one of said parents, and she said that at her job, the company is a facing a large lack of qualified workers that are able to replace the old people who now work there when they retire. The system is sophisticated, and we have taken great strides, BUT WHAT IF WE FORGET. What if skills are lost? what if people don't teach to their children, exactly as they learned? People spend so much time on their jobs at mcdonalds, and at the super market, and the vape shop, and there is such a stress on employment and payment, that people don't see there needs to be a very precise balance of teaching what is learned, and putting it into practice. It becomes even more problematic when you realize that for every step we take in say, computers, or physics, or space travel, is another step that needs to be followed by some kid 100 years from now who actually needs to care and comprehend, and maybe even have serious zeal. Mathematics has basically become a language in and of itself, and it is specialized language that is required for the concepts of space travel and physics; same goes with coding software. "what of the death of a profession? who shall mourn?" Perhaps we just have to accept that the systems in place cannot be attended-- it's simply too hard for a community to juggle. This actually becomes really depressing, when you consider the amount of data on the internet, like our friend John Oliver, and then ask the question "how many people know how to maintain all the infrastructure required for YouTube and etc. to be maintained 100, 200, 300 years from now?" are there guarantees on factories to produce components? guarantees on students to fill the roles of management, or competition to google and its rivals? are the political forces that threaten our way of life on the internet? how well will our kids be able to grasp the concept of native internet culture; is the way we experience the internet based on a certain type of climate and ecosystem? Honestly, we need to get Google(an example of an 'elite/advanced' corporation) into a college classroom to teach the kids, such as myself, because if they don't teach people how EVERYTHING works, for free, as of YESTERDAY, the entire internet is in danger of losing it's way of life. (traditionally, they should teach their children, but classrooms are a close second)

Not only would I go see ‘Infrastructure’ at the theater, I’d even buy the Blu-ray. So, how can we get this movie made? Crowdfunding it, perhaps? Be a nice change from reboots, remakes and sequels which aren’t always as good as the original film.

Here in Portland, Oregon (aka Bridgetown), one of our most important bridges (the Interstate Bridge, which carries I-5 across the Columbia River into Washington) is in dire need of replacement. It's inadequate for current traffic volumes, and it's falling apart. Add to that the fact that we're long overdue for a massive earthquake, and basically, we're royally fucked

He his right about when infrastructure failure. People will pay attention when cities flood because dams burst, when bridges collapse because of being unsafe and so on and so forth. I was the parent of a commuter where the route took over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Being that we crossed it several times a day, it’s scary to see the condition of it was several decades later🤭

I support privatizing infrastructure because, while corporations could be a problem sometime down the road, they at least have an incentive to keep infrastructure maintained and functioning.
Roedy Green (3 months ago)
Here is my funding solution to reduce the political pain. 1. Announce that gas taxes are now indexed by inflation 2. Calculate the monthly increment as 3% of the difference between the current rate and the adjusted rate. 3. Every month increase the tax by the increment until it reaches the adjusted rate. It stays at the adjusted rate from then on.
Roedy Green (3 months ago)
If you want your infrastructure fixed, somebody has to pay for it. 1. gas tax. Automatically raises the amount based on how big, heavy the vehicle, and how much damage it does to the infrastructure. 2. You should punish bad behavior. There is no more wicked activity that burning fossil fuels to make CO2. 3. You could have toll bridges, but that requires toll takers and slows down traffic. 4. You could take it out of general revenue. But then you punish those who never use the infrastructure. People who want services but refuse to pay taxes are childish wishful-thinking brats.

Arzigogolato (3 months ago)
I really don't understand why the U.S. government does not find the strength to put a heavy tax on gas: not only it would finance infrastructure (and maybe also public transportation), but it would also push people to buy more efficient cars, lowering Co2 emissions...
Dhindara Vrel (3 months ago)
Infrastructure is a film I'd actually watch. Please make that!

Funny thing is this is my job. If you think underfunding is a problem...NOPE...nobody gives a shit about infrastructure...I'm the one and only engineer typically involved on these jobs. Most structural and mechanical engineers focus on new construction or design....in-service structural evaluation is tough ...there is a lot of complex sciences involved that take experience and skill in my field...theory only gets you so far...most the repair contractors don't give a shit, or know shit about anything...they are basically general laborers...Christ there are no tradesmen left in this world...I'm currently involved with a structure I will only say is similar to a tree about 100 feet tall and made of steel...its been chopped away almost around the entire base by corrosion...corrosion that was seen but placed in the hands of laborers......and volunteers who's simple solution wasn't to offer any drainage to where the water was pooling...or to properly paint and preserve this structure...but dump large amounts of underlayment over it...which didn't bond and created and accelerated crevice corrosion...picture that guy in high school that didn't give a shit about anything...that's whos rebuilding these bridges or determining their needs...why won't the bureaucrats step up to the plate LOL...because this requires a higher education LMAO....Christ if you knew how much cost is a win all argument to finding the most bizarre solutions...like that bridge that shields the crumbling bridge from traffic...I'm using a liquid epoxy injection mold to repair a massive steel structure.....aka I'm using paint cured into a mold to be used in place of steel.....because god forbid we have to stop a "non-for-profit business" from operating for 3 weeks...I have seen it all...carbon fiber wrapped clarifiers...basically silos carrying every type of heavy metal and naturally occurring radio isotope maybe 10 feet from an agricultural farm land so corroded an set to immanently fail they take to fiber reinforced plastic....and while in "theory" that works on "paper"....your trusting the contractor aka morons to install it...cure time is everything people....lol...they don't care....the that's why the contractor has insurance...but the contractor thinks the engineers professional liability will kick in...not when a failure analysis shows inept installation...
