What Is Glycine: Amino Acids For Joint Pain, Inflammation, and Sleep

290 ratings | 5910 views
Today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite amino acids, called Glycine, which is considered an anti-stress amino acid. If you notice, when you take glycine supplements or get glycine from collagen you start to feel very relaxed and good well being in general. It is considered a conditional amino acid and can be found easily in bone broth and other animal products. It's more difficult to get glycine in a plant based diet than if you get it in bone broth protein or collagen. It is the second most widespread amino acid found in enzymes and protein, it's used to make proteins in the body, which builds up joints, tissue, tendons, and muscle. If you're active I highly recommend to have glycine from collagen or gelatin as a staple in your diet. It can help heal your GI tract, help with your joint pain and skin health, and it helps control inflammation. Glycine is also found in Testro-X. The reason it is called non essential is not because it's not essential to health, it is essential but the body can produce it from other amino acids. However the question is whether it can produce enough of it and some would say not, that's why many people take glycine itself. You don't have to consume collagen or bone broth.

Unless the bones are organic, bone broth will contain glyphosate which is highly toxic and substitutes for glycine in your tissues.

The highest sources of glycine is pork rinds, gelatin, collagen powder. You can make your own jellies out of gelatin. Either just plain or flavored. See Keto Gummy Bear recipes here on youtube.

Was kinda into the bio hacker phase from years back. I have been tracking my HRV off and on. Lately I’ve noticed very high stress levels, high parasympathetic signals. I was trying everything to drop the stress readings down for a few weeks nothing seemed to work. Then I tried a combination of a few things and practically overnight everything dropped back to normal. Starting taking kino sleep at night before bed and rhodiola in the morning. So not sure what of those ingredients or maybe the combination was responsible? It worked like a charm. Figured my cortisol production was really high. Was in a cutting phase and still getting puffy weight loss stalled. As soon as I dropped the stress I dropped a few more pounds overnight and back on track.

Good info. Is it possible that glycine also could be beneficial for thyroid health due to increase of GNRH? A dosage range between 200mg to 2000mg is generally ideal?
Christopher Walker (5 months ago)
Glycine is definitely good for thyroid yes. And yes that's generally the range, just take amounts depending on desired effect. We have the 2g in Kino Sleep since it'll be so strong as a relaxer, but a lower dose in Testro-X since it's not intended to put you to sleep.
