Hey Carolyn, I enjoy watching your videos. I don't know if anyone else has suggested but investing in a Sirius Satellite Radio is well worth it, & a relatively small investment. I live in the North #YZF #NWT and am a RV Enthusiast - the satellite radio comes in handy when there are no local radio stations for miles and miles and miles. Easy to install & every type of music, sports, comedy, news channel. Safe travels! :)
A couple music suggestions for some easy, feel-good tunes - check out Rumer - Seasons of My Soul, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L8m1BJZ3mw or Corinne Bailey Rae - her self-titled debut album, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV6ZR1yIgdo Oooh! Try Alison Krauss too! Her voice is so pure & unique - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcRZ_J_VgNc
Just kinda based on the music you add to your videos, plus your reaction to Green Day. LOL Both of these ladies are smooth & easy, with Rumer being kind of a throwback to 70s easy listening, and Corinne being a soft soul kind of sound. And I'm completely with you on your appreciation for Alabama. I am NOT usually a country music fan, but the classic bands with their harmonies and grass-roots Americana vibe do my heart good once in a while. Love me some Oak Ridge Boys & Statler Brothers too.
I love the group Alabama too (duh hahahaha) .. and some good travel'n music for me has always been CCR! )Creedence Clearwater Survival) :) And I like to listen to bellydance music when travel'n too hahahaha sorta keeps me energized :) Huggles from Bama :)
Carolyn, you took the detour to Stewart and Hyder. Hope you are considering a "detour" to drive the Top of the World Highway. Whether you choose to go all the way to Dawson City once you are in Alaska or just go past the border and and back into Alaska, I guarantee this drive and what you get to see is close to life changing. Leave something cool on the ceilings or walls of the Chicken, Alaska Saloon on your way :). And maybe start listening to the Tragically Hip. Blue Rodeo, the Band, the Rheostatics, Sarah Harmer, Kathlen Edwards, and Jann Arden ... great Canadian Music for a great northern road trip.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have wanted to do what you are doing for many years. Stay safe and keep loving God's gifts. Love your travel companion/roommate also. Cannot think of what I can imagine as any better life. Peace
Carolyn, really enjoying your trip to Alaska. Apropos of nothing, but ignore trolls--especially those with YouTube channels. If you respond, you simply give them attention. The one thing they cannot handle is just being ignored, while you focus on the positive aspects of RV living. And monetizing your channel is not a bad thing. Especially since we don't get the bill! :-)
I just started watching your videos and maybe I missed if you said - but when you head back to the US from Alaska you should check out the Alaska Highway that runs from Alaska, thru the Yukon, and northern BC. I used to live in a town called Fort Nelson and it is one of the most friendly tourist towns :) Or it used to be. I haven't been back in a while. There are lots of great scenic and historic locations related to the building of the highway.
What a wonderful puppy and traveling companion you have in sweet Capone. He seems to enjoy having a front seat where he is up high enough to see out! We have to take care of our precious fur babies. They are true friends and nonjudgemental and love us for who we truly are. The scenery is so beautiful. Have a wonderful trip and see some beautiful places.
For my road trips and my new van I bought a Goodwill CD of Blake Shelton and my favorite song that I blast out when I leave is some beach. Love it. Also bought a Dixie Chicks album and one on there is about hitting the road can't think of the name but that's what I love to play when exploring. Of course I grew up loving the 60's and 70's music the good old days so I play them too. But listen to some beach by Blake Shelton you can't sit still
The tape may have tighten the bolted connectionthat the second ground wasconnected to. A tip to remberis that when your starter wont work because of a corroded battery cable.. once got a car started by taking aknife and creating a connection between the battety terminal and the ground cable connector. The starter wouldn’t turn the motor over untill I pressed my knife blade on to both parts to complete the ground connection then it started rightup.
CAROLYN. I'm so excited about seeing tonight's episode. I must have checked my I Pad 100 times. Lol lol lol lol. You just always make my day perfect. Thank you for just being the authentic you. I have so much respect for you
This video was so fun and enjoyable, it makes me want to go travel there as soon as I sell my place and get my home on wheels ready. I talk to my fur babies the same way you do Capone. I heard the slight worry in your voice and saw on your face when he ate the ice, you sound like me talking to mine. I hope they will do as well as Capone traveling, they were 12 years old last December.
Oh Hey there! I have some traveling music for you: Old Crow Medicine Show , The Derek Trucks Bands, Also ..I think you would love the Marcus King Band. Oh yeah another one I think you will love is Nanci Griffith! You tube some of their music, it will touch your heart and soul. Peace friend! It is so fun to listen to different music right!
The battery might be old and need to see how many amps have and things? If have an Autozone, Advanced Auto in Canada? Need to also have the store plug into the computer under the dashboard "driver side" to see if have any codes and if so what they are? Ever Start are okay batteries for 2-3 years from new but after that often konk out. How old is your alternator? Might be a fuse but doubt it.
This was such a fun video; so serene. Does the bumpy roads get tiresome? Would you call that slab of ice part of a glacier? How wild was that to see it?!! I was hoping you'd put your hand in that river. I was curious as to how cold that water was.
Can't WAIT til your next video!!!
My husband really wanted to see Alaska but he passed away before he got the chance. I’m a disabled cancer survivor and, due to my appliances, can’t travel well. Plus I am on a fixed income. The pure joy I get from viewing your videos can only be surpassed by comfort time with my daughter or quiet time with my Lord. I only wish I could view it on the big screen instead of my phone hehe. Be safe cause you’re already kind. Love to Capone.
What a fun time. I am so glad to see you're having a blast. I know it's tasteless to self promote on someone else's channel so I'm not going to but I do think you would like my music. All the best to you.
The negative battery cable connection should not cause the light to flicker, but the knife blade battery cutoff switch might. You should have that cabling cleaned up and a better battery cutoff switch installed. Something like this with proper cabling would be better. Blue Sea Systems HD-Series Heavy Duty Battery Switch
Try to get some grease for your current switch and operate the switch a few times with the grease on the contacts and see if that helps! I hope you have a safe trip, the scenery is spectacular.
I truly love your videos and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that you are making the Alaska trip also I'm very excited for your next videos I love your filming style and I admire you very much!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK KEEP THE VIDEOS ROLLING IN AND BE SAFE IN YOUR TRAVELS GOD BLESS YOU :)
Hello Carolyn. Sorry I haven't been able to watch for a while, I bought a used class A and have been getting it ready for the road. What I have sent has been very beautiful and I want to come along. Well you be safe in your journeys . Bye for now.
Loving your trip or I may say our trip to Alaska lol. Excellent videos. Stay safe you and Capone. God bless
About the flickering...definitely something not right but not serious I guess. I've been a tech for 35 years so I've seen stuff like that. My jeep was one of those. The fact that it does it on bumps makes me think it's something loose. Most likely in the alternator more than the battery. ..I've seen it. Stay safe
If the dash warning light is intermittently flashing, something isn't right. Hopefully it might just be some quirk with the light...I don't mean to be a pessimist. On the bright side, alternators generally aren't difficult or expensive to replace (I once replaced an alternator in the parking lot of the auto parts store where I bought the alternator). If the light starts staying on most or all of the time, I'd try to drive only during daylight when the headlights can be left off, and head directly to the nearest service shop.
Carolyn, you look like a big kid in an adult playground! :-) By the way, my spouse, who teaches American Sign Language, and is an interpreter, notices that, while you are driving along, you make the letter T with your right hand ( thumb tucked in-between the pointer and middle finger). I do it all of the time as well, absentmindedly. Peace..
The negative terminal of the battery must be connected to the body (ground) of the vehicle. It appears that the ground cable has been extended by bolting it to another cable. If that connection touches vehicle body parts, it wouldn't matter since its purpose is to connect to vehicle body parts. But if the cable connections are loose and corroded, it's possible that the bouncing around of the cable could affect the charging system and electrical warning light. I'm concerned that the vehicle's alternator/regulator might be failing, or there might be a loose connection in the battery charging circuit. The battery charging system is easy to test with a simple voltage meter.
Nice scenery shots...however, I find it curious that you made a drastic change in your camera angle while driving.
For all your previous video's, you, are center frame while driving and delivering your commentary. Now, you present a wide angle shot, you to the right, the dog to the left.
One could speculate this new camera angle is pandering to the animal lover fanatics...I said "could speculate"....not that your ARE...ok?
Just seems odd, given years of YOU, being center frame...this new angle is totally out of your established pattern.
Not hating, not trolling....I just find it curious.
Thanks for the wonderful scenery shots.
just check the battery terminal/post and sometimes there is corrosion built up on the terminals, which you can clean with a wire brush or some acidic product (in a pinch soda or lemon juice, I don't drink soda, I just keep a small bottle of diet coke in a bottle to clean the terminals when my battery gives me trouble) It is a ford thing....I had a Ford E350 conversion van, and various other Ford vehicles, they all have this issue.
What a beautiful place! Your composition, focus, depth of field and colour correction are all on the mark. Why don't you use a gimbal to stabilise your outdoor shots? It's a delight to watch you, Capone and the great landscapes. Have a good time!
LOVE the video's of the old towns. I just love "old", vintage or whatever. Thanks Carolyn! The mountain views in the background!!!
Gorgeous country~! Just beautiful. Carolyn that mountain/lake view, omg postcard perfect! Could be the wire in the dash, not just at your battery. If they have said all is well and tight, just keep your eye on it, she is charging, and the alternator working well...
Watson Lake is beautiful, I was there going to Ross River in the Yukon to deliver my brothers truck to him. It was a road trip with my Dad that I will never forget. This has been the most amazing video Carolyn!! You really delivered on this one!!!!!! Thank you for the memories. Capone drool, nope, it was the water from the ice. :) How come your radio doesn't work? Not that it would get much reception yet. I can't remember what you said about it. I enjoy all kinds of music, except heavy metal, it seems so "angry" to me.
Awesome video! You’re rocking it out girlie! Really enjoying this, but still seeing snow! I’m a Floridian, just seeing it makes me cold! Lovely scenic views! Be safe, happy trails! Peace and Love ❤️ 🧜🏻♀️
On one of your recent video’s you mentioned a 6 in 1 Flee, Tick, Heart worm plus chew that the vet suggested when you were getting Capone’s health check to cross the boarder, any chance you could repeat the product name? I can’t find that video again. Love following your adventures!
